  • 3 miles today. I'd planned to run 4, but my sister was with me, and I could tell she was bored waiting for me to finish up. There was a dangerous gang of preschoolers racing their bicycles around the running track, so I was actually glad to get out of there a little early!

Tomorrow, I plan to go have a look at the closest YMCA, to see if it's worth joining. Hopefully, it will be nice, and there will be something ds can do while I work out.

edit: Kara, forgot to say thanks. I looked online, and every free program I saw seemed SO different from every other one, it was just confusing. I'm just going to keep on the way I have been, adding a little distance when I feel up to it. I like your idea of upping speed. Maybe if I can get on a treadmill regularly, I'd be able to work my speed up a bit. When I try to do it on my own, I always seem to overdo it, and end up out of air. Maybe the treadmill would help me learn just little bit faster pace, without killing me.
  • Morning everybody! I've got cross training on the schedule today, so I'll be out there cycling instead of running.

Hope everyone has a great day and nice runs!
  • I'm on my third day of 2.5 miles in 30 min!!! (I used to *run* a 15 min mile just 2 months ago...so I'm kind of still in shock...I think I can actually do this!) All of you with your running is such an inspiration...I soooo want to be a runner too

Hope you all have an awesome weekend!!!
  • I ran a 5 miler this morning before the sun came up and it was nice and windy. I do feel pretty darn tired now though and could actually take a nap. Usually I feel energized after a run but today I just feel POOPED.

    Congrats Sweettart! That is awesome!

I can only hope I can do 2.5 in 30 soon. I ran/walked 1.6 in 25 on Thursday for a 15.62 min mile. Today I did 1.7 in 25 for 14.7 min mile. My goal is to get just a little bit further every time I run. I probably could have gone even faster but there is still a very large patch of ice on our road that I had to skate over twice. Hopefully it will melt soon.
  • I'm back home from my longest run of the year...6 miles in 74 minutes! I was supposed to do a road run today but we got a surprise 5 inches of snow last night. I opted for the treadmill instead!

The run was awesome except for the pain in my right leg again in my calf muscle. I might try to book a massage for myself this week to see if that'll help.
  • OK GALS ~ we really need you to go to WEIGHT LOSS SUPPORT and enter the ANGIE LEAVES EZMONEY...5K....looking for 100 entries...don't be left out...
  • Well I am back to running again. After I started working I got sort of lax with working out - I was so tired after work. Then I realized I was tired because I wasn't exercising - DUH! So I am back now slowly adding up mileage to get me back to the 3 mile mark. This week was 1 mile runs and they went well. I kept tonight's nice and slow which was hard because I knew I was only doing 1 mile and I wanted it done but I am trying to loosen up these muscles so I can add in extra this week. The plan is for 10 miles a week (walking and running total) but I know once I get back up to 2+ miles I will have more than that per week. But for now I am being conservative and hoping to smash that number.

I have roughly 10-11 weeks until my hubby comes home for a visit from Iraq and I want to take him running with me and wow him. When he left, well I was 220 pounds and I couldn't run for more than a quarter of a mile without dying. I'd really like to take him out for 3 miles and surprise him. I'm not as fast as he is but I think the endurance will shock him I'm also secretly hoping that adding more mileage will help me get out of the 190s and closer to the 180s for June. Here's hoping!
  • Hi all - I know I've been MIA... I have also not been running this week. A lot of crap going on in my life that has left me really, really exhausted. I did 2 miles outside on Wednesday and that was it this week.

Okay - fresh start this coming week - in lots of ways. I am starting a new job tomorrow, so I'll now have the joy of fitting my running in around work... !

Hope you are all well -
    Heather
  • Kim - Congrats on your long run! Great job!

cakses - I'm sure you'll look great and be ready to rock the run when your husband gets back from Iraq!

Heather - Your signature is such an inspiration, you've lost so much! Good luck with your new job!

No running today for me, I got in about an hour of cycling. Felt good to use different muscles!
  • Holy crap I rocked my half!!!! I am so freaking happy because I am totally surprised by my results.

Here is my race report since I dont have a handy blog!:

I approached this HM as a "where am I" rather than a goal race. My training in March was a bit streaky to say the least. My McMillan predictor for a HM was 1:50:58, so I decided to try and stay with the 1:50 pace team and if I fell off at the end, so be it.

The course was definitely hillier than I expected, nothing steep, but certainly not flat. Weather was perfect. Low 40's and misty.

Mile 1 8:25 - caught up the pace team just as I got to the mile mark. I was maybe 5-10 seconds behind them so I decided to hang out there for awhile. It was too crowded right with them.
    Mile 2 - 8:10 - a wee bit fast
Mile 3 - 8:24 dead on (11 seconds ahead overall)
Mile 4 - 8:35 all uphill not too bad
    Mile 5 - 8:01 downhill
Mile 6 - 7:49 - somewhere in this mile I pass the pace team. We are in one of the few flat stretches. My strategy has become to try and hold the goal pace in uphill and headwind sections and bank time on downhills. I know there is a big hill at the end, not sure how much uphill is still to come
    Mile 7 - 8:03 rolling
    Mile 8 - 8:18 rolling
Mile 9 - 7:52 - felt like I was slowing down so I sped up
Mile 10 - 8:22 with a head wind (about 1:50 ahead at this point)
    Mile 11 - 8:18
    Mile 12 - 8:19 - more than 2 minutes ahead at this point...decide to go for 1:48
Holy crap that bridge is HUGE and I have to go up that NOW? Climb the bridge. I tell myself I only have to keep running for 3 more minutes (to hit 1:48-) and pray I am right because keep this pace on the bridge is killer. Crest the bridge and know I better see that 13 mile marker soon
    Mile 13- 8:16 & 0.1@ 0.44
Overall - 1:47:45 watch time and chiptime

    Holy .

    Damn...now I have to aim for 1:45
  • ah geeez ENNAY that ain't nothin'...I did 11 minute miles in my 5K today.....11-8=3...3+ better per mile.....oh yeah!
  • Great Job Ennay! That must have felt wonderful!!! It seems you really have been bitten by the bug now!

Ended up not running on Thursday night (and there was NOT a new ep of the Office either - sigh...)

But tonight I ran 4 miles in under 42 min...that's the best I've run in almost a year! I stopped running last May after I found out I was preggo and mainly just walked and ran a little bit over my pregnancy). I started running again about 6 weeks ago so this is my PB right now for this year

Next goal: 5 miles by the end of this next week!
  • Wow congratulations Ennay! You really killed that race! I can't imagine maintaining that pace over a half! Great job!
  • Ennay - Congrats on the fantastic run!

I'm sore and upset. Apparently when my leg started hurting at around 4 miles on Saturday I should have called it quits instead of running for another 2 miles. My husband had to practically carry me down the stairs yesterday morning. Today seems a bit better but it's still sore and there seems to be some swelling behind my knee. The kids are going to Grandma's house today so I'll try to get some time to ice it. Depending on how it feels by this afternoon I might see how it feels on the elliptical. If it doesn't feel good I'll go do some upper body stuff.

So now I'm freaking out about being sore when the 1/2 marathon clinic starts in two weeks. Ugh. I haven't registered yet but my friend and I have really been looking forward to this and the race it leads up to in August would be fantastic.
