I have had a plastic "booster" on my toilet seat for years. Ever since I had my last knee surgery and couldn't get up! And I use the handicap ones in public places. People look at me kind of funny but that's their problem...it's just so much easier! I also have hand rails around my whirlpool and when we built this house I wanted a basement but hubby wouldn't build it without a "lift". He is a tool maker and he left a hole in the floor...made it into a little closet like...built a cage like thing with a motor in the attic and viola...a "lift". Of course, I have my mops and brooms on it so I don't use it! Too much trouble to take them off each time! I use it as a "walk through" to go from my bathroom to the kitchen! Oh, and the dog sleeps on it, too! But it is there for when I'm really bad. I mostly use it to take laundry and groceries up and down. My Rheumatologist gave me a lot of good tips. One of them was never to buy a car with a "button" on the door handle. My hands are really bad, esp. the thumbs. I would have never thought about this, though, if he hadn't told me to always buy one with pull door handles! I put most of the stuff I use regularly within easy reach in the cabinets and not down on the floor. I have a couple of different methods to open jars. I designed my kitchen myself (designed the whole house myself and even drew the plans) and I put everything close together so if I'm on crutches I don't have to do a lot of moving around to cook a meal, etc. Half the battle with this stuff is learning to live with it!

Hi. Meme you are absolutely right. Learning to live with it is half the battle. Making things easier on yourself. So many people just complain and don't think to move a thing, that would simplify their lives. I am an organizer by nature. My daughter is just like me. It isn't a hard thing for me to do at all. I keep everything picked up, and the house always looks neat and clean. It isn't always so clean I am afraid, because, as you know, some days it is just not possible to do some types of cleaning.

Phyllis - I haven't given up. I was just ranting yesterday - I guess I felt a little left out of eating all the good stuff at the baby shower on Sunday. Wouldn't admit it however, until that posting yesterday. I am back on track and doing fine. In fact I lost another pound, so that has to be a plus.

I went and got my hair done today. Really needed a hair cut. Hairdresser told me I have such healthy hair and it grows like a weed.

Bad news for me. My Chiropractor was in a car accident on the weekend and crushed his foot, broke his wrist and broke some bones in his chest. Still in the hospital. Made an appointment with a different one today - will go Monday and see him. I sure hope he is good - nobody will be as good as the sick one, however. Now I must also find a masseuse(?SP) to look after the FM. I hope this guy recovers fast, and I sure hope he doesn't develop FM from the accident. That sometimes happen.

The toilet - yes, I need to get a bar for the bathroom. Won't do it here, but will as soon as I move, if there isn't one in there. When my knees are bad I really need the help getting up. I also use the handicap washrooms, Meme. I don't care. It just says they are for handicapped persons, doesn't say nobody else can use them! Plus, somedays, I am just as handicapped as the next guy.

Well, I must go make supper. Where do you suppose Candice is? Puter problems perhaps. Ally will probably be back tonight, and Lucky, if you are lurking about, stop in and say hi.

Hey, where is Candice. Haven't heard from her for days. CANDICE, are you ok. e-mail me and let me know if your computer is down, or if you are not well.

Meme - hope you are feeling better today. My knees were so sore yesterday, could hardly stand it, now today, they seem much better. Go figure - I don't understand it.

Phyllis - Losing weight might help my knees, but because I believe it is a FM thing more than arthritis, I am not so sure. This pain that I have been having for the past few months is not the same as the pain I get when arthritis kicks in. It isn't in the same area of the knee. It certainly does seem to be more muscle related, and it could very well be coming from the back - it usually is. I went walking this morning and walked 2 miles and I feel great - full of energy.

Where is Ally? Has she also given up on us? Hi Ally in case you are reading the posts. Hope you are feeling ok.

I think spring is on the way - sure feels like it the last few days. Temperatures of 50-54 above zero. I am sure that we will also have a few cold days and more snow, but all in all this is terrific. Also, feel more dozy. Do this every spring.

Hope you all have less pain and great days.

Hi guys. I was mourning the loss of Doug Flutie for the Buffalo Bills. Also a sore throat and kids on the computer.
I was reading about eating disorders again today on the computer.
It said anyone who is constantly on a diet probably has an eating disorder.
And this being my FIBER week (toot)....can't wait to see what I'll do next week.
I want to get a new improved body image. And it is not just my thoughts about me. I got a Plus Woman catalog in the mail....like I want to see really fat women in bathing suits. I hate to say it, but I might buy one if a thin woman was in it cause I would tell myself I would look like that in it.
But when you see someone who is really obese in a bathing suit...there is no denial. It is not attractive.
How do I get that picture out of my head?
I didn't put that picture in there...society did. But, I don't know how to get it out.

And I use the handicapped stall at work. Once I put on Out Of Order sign on it to keep the riff raff out...but I like the higher seat and the bar. Once in the regular stall I almost took the toilet paper roll off the wall leaning on it.
At home, I have the bathtub.
Glad it is Friday. Can sleep late tomorrow.
Talk to you later

Default At Last

Boy, what a time getting back to here. Hope the rest of you get back here as well. I guess it will be better in the long run. They shouldn't make these changes with my poor feeble brain.

Anyway, hope you are all well. Post so we can start again, ok.

Ally - Doug Flutie played in Canada first. He was a member of the Calgary Stampeders, and everyone loved him.

Anne

Had a shower to give on Sunday and went to Nashville to the Rheumatologist yesterday...was gone 13 hours and pooped last night when I got home. Then today I had Jenna and Ross...poor little fella has tonsillitis again. I will have them both again tomorrow...no rest for the weary!!!

I'm sorry...can't write more...gotta get some sleep. Maybe things will calm down here one of these days!!!

Hey Guys. I can't handle change. Had to get my password cause I forgot it. Then still couldn't get on and almost gave up.
How is everyone?
Why do they change things around? Don't they know we have brain fog????
I am still focusing on Fiber. At first I had a "clog" for several days, now can't stop.
ALso have been reading about digestive enzymes. Anyone take those?
I am taking a break from getting on the scale.
This isn't always good. I can gain weight this way. But until the weather is better, I don't need any more disappointments.
Talk to you later.....

Default Hi all

This site is a bit different - more like Clouds. Ally, you should have no trouble manurvering around in here!

Ally - In answer to your question about digestive enzymes - I take a Papaya Enzyme, much the same as the Pineapple Enzyme (Bromelin)sp?. Supposed to help with arthritis. I take so much stuff, afraid to quit any of it in case it gets worse. It is liveable now, but don't want it to get into a worse state, so will keep taking all the stuff and keep adding more. Hate meds, so have to do something(lol)

Phyllis - I am sorry that you are hurting- again. Funny how this dd works, isn't it? Feel better for a day or two, and then wham, hits you someplace else. Not fair. My arm keeps being sore, off and on. If I use the computer to much, then it really aches. It is the muscle - I can put pressure on it and it throbs!

Candice - Sure hope you get your computer fixed - soon.
I miss you when you don't post. I do hope that the anxiety you were experiencing has lessened for you.

Meme - How in the world are you doing now. I know you said you were so tired. You are not supposed to shop till you drop! Hope you are catching up on much needed rest. After that flu you had, you must still be tired. takes a while to get back to 'normal' - whatever that is for us. The little one, hope he is better. My son had tonsillitis from the time he was 3 until they took his tonsils out when he was 6. Antibiotics non-stop. After his tonsil came out, the kid was never sick. Also, he was a bedwetter - sometimes 2-3 times a night. I blame this on the meds he had to take as he had tonsillitis almost constantly. The day his tonsills came out, was the last day he ever wet the bed, so ....

Anyway, all, I hope you have a nice day - spring is around the corner (although my corner can be much wider than some of yours). Doesn't usually arrive here until April, but after the mild winter it sure seems like it has arrived already. Snow is melting - it has been 54 above the last few days. Phyllis, quit your laughing 54 is warm for here. I know you are having 70 and that is just about the perfect temp. Can't stand the heat either. Don't have airconditioning, so then you just about die. A couple of summers ago, it got to 95 - 100 and I thought I was going to die. Stayed like that for over a week. Thank God the lake washere is all I can say!

Bye for now, Anne

I stay tired...don't know if it is getting over the flu or the meds or just doing to much and not getting enough sleep...or maybe a combination of everything...but it is not a good feeling. I had to teach until 8 tonight, Hubby is home again tomorrow...he is on 4 days a week...no work at the shop, I have to teach tomorrow night plus go to one of those stupid Pampered Chef parties at 6:30 (I'd skip it but it is at my D-I-L's). Then Sat. I will have to clean and get in groceries. Then I have church Sunday morning and night plus a "soup supper" at 4:30 and I have to making cabbage beef soup for that. Then Monday it starts all over again. Hey, I just realized that next week is Spring Break Week in Putnam County...that means I have the week off from teaching at night!!! Hooray! Well...all but Monday night. Have to teach Mon. to make up for missing when I went to Nashville this week. But...I'll take what I can get! I hate working until 8 at night. I'll be glad when baby Jenna gets in preschool. Then I can move my students up and get through earlier. Anybody got any good ideas on potty training? The preschool won't take her until she is potty trained. She likes to SIT on the potty but she just sits...doesn't do anything.

It is warmer here...up in the high 50s today. The trees are budding out. I need spring! It is cold tonight though, going down to 30, and supposed to only be in the 40s tomorrow. 70 is too cool for my liking...I like it better when it is in the upper 70s (and sunny)!

I was chosen as a Mystery Shopper for Shoneys...isn't that neat? I get to (or should I say HAVE to) eat there once a week for free! Just have to fill out an electronic form andsubmit it for each time I eat. They said the job could last from one to 9 months. I think it will be fun and we eat out 3 or 4 times a week anyway! (usually 4) I'm looking into "Mystery Shopping" for some other places. Some of them have you buy merchandise and then you get to keep it. And some just pay you a flat rate for "shopping" certain stores...even for just getting estimates for tires and such. (I really need another job, huh???)

Have a good weekend everyone!

How do you do all that image stuff??? I am so computer illiterate!!
And I got a note on my E-mail to say that Tootie had responded on this thread. That is kind of cool.
Meme...I want that eating job. Something I could be really, really good at.
I would like to be a restaurant critic but to be honest I don't want to eat at places with too many forks and where I can't pronounce anything.
I am still playing with fiber and thought I really hit pay dirt and...I got my period. That was why the flood gates opened.
I felt so nice and thin...and then realized it was just my period.
But, the more I read about this enzyme stuff and then about Candida yeast...I realize that my weight gain may have a lot to do with how I am just not digesting food well.
Well...I ran out to see Doug Flutie on TV. He's moving to San Diego ( and so are my loyalties) and now I forgot what everyone was talking about.
Well...I'm glad we are all back and talking and next time I will remember what it was I wanted to say...

Default Hi

Candice neat image. Next week I will ask where you went on this board to get it.

Ally - get the book called The Yeast Connection - excellent. Brain fog is caused by canididas (sp). Had a whole program I was on when I had it. Yeast in the blood stream. Will talk more about that next week.

Meme - Great job. I want it to. That is what mystery shoppers do. Is it hard work? I see ads for that all the time.

Phyllis - hope your well

Have a good weekend. Talk to you all on Monday. Going to Edmonton to babysit my granddaughter.

Anne
