Angry Fibromyalgia #52

Good morning everyone.

Meme - I hope your headache has subsided and that you are feeling a lot better today. I made that strawberry salad for Easter dinner. If was so good. I could find strawberry pie filling, so I got a lite cherry. Next time, it will be strawberry.

Mima - I do hope that they woman learns to stay in her own suite. That would be annoying if she just came up whenever she felt like it. I guess lonliness is not a nice thing, however.

Hi, Ally, Candice and Joanne.

I was so tired yesterday, after all that company for dinner on Sunday. My back and legs hurt so bad that I just wanted to lay down and do nothing - so that is what I did. I started reading a book instead. Even my poor eyeballs hurt I don't know why I do this to myself, but I have done it for years. My brothers, nieces, nephews and now their kids, one of my aunts and uncle, and cousins. This year both my brothers were missing, as one is still down south and won't be back until mid April and the other had to go to his in-laws. One nephew was missing as well, as they live 600 miles from here and are leaving for China today.

On Sunday, my daughter was complaining because her legs hurt. She, and my son, had gone to the gym on Saturday, and I think she was trying to keep up with him. Anyway, I told her, that's how my legs feel everyday, and I didn't even have the pleasure of doing exercises. She couldn't believe that that is how we feel, everyday. Now she knows.

I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Default Hey There

Happy- Glad to hear you servived Easter dinner. The bad or maybe best part is we get to eat all the leftovers. I agree with your picture message.
Mima.. Sounds like you are settling in. I found that you sometimes have to be very plain when you have to let someone know you don't need company all the time.
Hello Ally, Candice, Meme

Happy...like that picture.
Meme....Are YOU still taking 5-HTP? I am taking a break and low and behold I am having my second migraine. So I go on the computer and am looking up 5-HTP and find a study about its effectiveness in MIGRAINES. And now that I think about it, the last time I went off I got migraines too. So, I have had a break for a few weeks. Hope that is enough, cause I am going to take it again. As soon as this migraine started this afternoon, I ate Hershey's kisses. Carb cravings.
Candice....yeah, some of these supplements cause problems in some people. I just read that Kava Kava can cause liver damage.
Hi Mima and Joanne.....

Hi, everyone! I used to post on these boards a long time ago, but I have been MIA for quite some time. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome in 1998 after never recuperating from surgery to have a kidney removed in 1997. I will be 31 this year and I homeschool my 2 blessings, ages 9 and 12. I will be re-joing WW on Thursday. I had a root canal today, so I thought I would wait a couple of days before rejoining.

I love Maxine...she is so "wise"!

We have been getting our taxes together (or...hubby has...) And just figured out tonight that I made a little over $6,000 last year that we haven't paid in on...Opps...Not good!

Migraine is gone but I have an awful cough that just won't go away!!! My ribs are killing me...can't lay down to sleep...miserable!

Welcome back Meshell! Hope to see more of you! What is the difference between Fibro and myofacial pain?

Meme..sounds like you might owe Uncle Sam some mula! You are the fashion queen aren't you! I have not been able to wear any type of dress shoe since 1992 when I broke my foot! So anything I wear has to go with pants or dresses! My not look good but I can walk in them!

Ally........Sounds like the 5htp really helps you! I'm jsut afraid to try it since I have so much trouble with stuff.

Happy..sounds like you had a nice family get together over Easter. I know people do not understand how we feel...when I have a good day I don't realize it untill I am having a worse day! (that make any since)

Mima..your ring sounds nice and hope your new renter doesn't make cause a problem for you. What kind of dissability does she have?

Joanne...you have a building in your back yard you can fix up and rent out to live in. You must have a very big back yard!

Default Hey There

Welcome mdeyoung- WW is a really good program.. Commitment is the word, but, I feel sure you know that.. I rejoimed after many trys and lost 57 lbs. For the past three years I have been trying to lose a little more.Either my body or my bent elbow has gotten in the way. I am maintaining.
Candice. I don't have that big a back yard...My property is 175 deep by 120 wide. Big enough and sometimes too big.I will never let anyone live back there. I like my privacy too much.
I have a Dr. appt. today. I think I am going to ask him to inject my shoulder. This pain has gone on too long. Otherwise I can't remember why I was to followup.. I think they have to bring us back every three months to keep their bank accounts stable.
Hello Mima,Meme, Happy...

Angry Good morning

Well, it is still cold here. It is supposed to be only 16 above again today. With a cold wind from the north. Spring just can't seem to make it here and stay!!!! I am really sick of the snow now and am more than ready to head toward summer.

Meme - Don't you have a tax free exemption. In Canada, we can earn up to $6500.00 I believe without paying tax. Glad your headache is gone. I saw on TV the other night, about surgery they can do for migraines. It is Plastic Surgeon that does it. Depending on where the pain comes from (forhead, back of head, or side) they cut a nerve. Took care of the headache. I have the phone number someplace. If you or Ally are interested, I can find it for you. It is something brand new.

Candice - I am sort of like you. I don't know that I am hurting all that bad, until I hurt worse than other days Your body just gets used to a certain pain level, I think.

Joanne - I am with you. Don't want to put up with anyone else living in my space. Never wanted renters. I would be a terrible landlord, mainly because I am not interested in it at all. Hope the Dr. gives you a shot, and that it works.

Ally - I am glad that the 5HTP works for you. Never did do much for me, but then I believe that the pain I have is more from arthritis than FM. Sometimes that old FM kicks in and lets me know it is REALLY there, but mostly is it localized in my lower back, hip and legs. The FM seems to affect my arms, ribs and upperback, but not always - thank goodness.

Mima - Your ring sounds beautiful. Gee, not so long now. What date was the wedding again?

Meshel - Welcome. Come join in.

I have to go to ww today, and I think I was terribly bad (again). Last week I had gained a pound, all because of my birthday, and a babyshower, and of course, the BIGGIE - no will power This week it was Easter, and I was doing ok, until I got myself into those silly mini eggs. Oh, well, it is a setback, but not life threatening, and I will go forward from here.

SORRY CANDICE, for writing another book!

Angry I'm new here ...

It's so nice to find a group of other Fibromyalgia folks who are trying to lose weight
I've been on WW since January and am down 17 pounds. Have 88 more to lose to reach goal weight.

Exercise is not a valid option right now, so controlling my food intake is what I'm focused on.

A little about me: I'm a 47 y.o. female with Fibromyalgia and Myfascial Syndrome. Have other assorted things like degenerative joint disease and fun stuff like that. Have 3 grown kids, 3 grandkids, and another on the way (due any time!).

I've gone back to college to finish my BA ... majoring in religious studies and minoring in photography. Interesting combo, I know!

Have a wonderful day, and I'll be back soon!

Thank you all so much for the warm welcomes!

The easiest way to differentiate between FMS and MPS (myofascial pain syndrome) is that FMS mainly affects the muscles, ligaments, and tendons, whereas the MPS affects the nerves. MPS is very common among us fibromites, but few doctors know how to diagnose it correctly. Here is a good website if you wish to learn more:

http://www.sover.net/~devstar/

Devin is a physician who also suffers from FMS and MPS. She is also a best-selling author on the subjects. :-)

Angry Hi again

Welcome Cathy. Hope you come join us. Good for you Cathy, on your weightloss. Wonder feeling isn't it. It is so hard to do with FM, etc. I have arthritis in my back and FM and find it hard to exercise as well. I was doing really well up until the end of January, and then we were involved in an accident (rear-ended) and I now have my back (fragile to begin with) back at square one. My arm is also not doing so great, and my neck and shoulders now give me problems that I didn't have before. So, right now exercise seems limited. If spring ever came, I would get out and walk, but it is still very cold for this time of year. I live in Western Canada.

Well ladies, I went through Easter and I LOST 1.2 pounds. I can't BELIEVE it because I was SO,SO bad. I ate easter eggs and had Easter dinner. I am so happy (even though I know I don't deserve it because I was so bad) I am back on track again and hope to do better. That is now 10 pounds gone.

Meshell, thanks for the website. I think I am off to do some reading there. I do have her first book, but not the last one.

Talking

Thanks for the welcome!
The exercise issue is a tough one ... the rheumatologist has said I can do the Arthritis Foundation's warm water exercise program, but finding one that isn't held at 10 a.m. while I'm at work is nigh on to impossible. I've called everyone that's listed as offering it, and nothing is in the realm of my reality (whine, whine, moan, moan).

I'm travelling this May to France for 16 days, and really need to get some of these pounds off before I try to lug my body around Paris and the South of France. I've purchased walking shoes, and the goal is to start walking ... slowly. I have two granddaughters who live with me, so they'll be my walking buddies (and just about the right speed!) That is, of course, when it warms up. Our weather seems all confused. On Monday it was almost 70, and today it's in the 30s ... with hard freezes tonight. It *should* be spring here now!

Wish me luck!!!

Cathy, that sounds absolutely wonderful. What an incentive to lose weight for. Good going. I wish you the best. Later I will post the recipe from today. 4 point sloppy joes. Sounds really good. You know, in Canada, we can't get a lot of the weightwatchers products. You are supposed to use ww hamburger buns, but I don't think we have them, but we do have the bread, so maybe.

anyway, I am back to post this site. It is a lot of fun - nostalgic.

Hi Cathy and Meshell.....
I have the Myofacial pain book also. There are so many common factors amongst these disorders. This is the best winter I have had since I got this. However, we have snow today and it is really heavy and wet. So I start aching. And the migraine is gone but I still feel like I could eat a whole Turkey. And Turkey is the key cause that is tryptophan. Actually, while I wouldn't mind a turkey dinner...I have been eating the Easter candy. Naughty naughty.
Old boyfriend just called and asked me out to a movie. He fell off a roof about a month and a half ago and broke ribs, crushed a vertebrae. I went to see him while he was in the hospital. This rekindled my need to nurture and fuss. Well, now I don't know what I want from him. And with all those broken bones....don't know what I can get
What movie should we see?????

I want to see Clockstoppers. It sounds like my kind of movie. Hubby said he take me to see it but I'm not going anywhere until I stop this coughing! There are a lot of good movies on right now. Go to http://movies.go.com/ and pick out one!

Welcome to Meschell and Cathy. I'm going to check out the site on Myofacial Pain...used to know what that was about 100 years ago! I'm in a fibrofog this week. I hurt so bad from coughing...my ribs and sides are killing me!

Hey Anne...Candice will be gunning for you...you wrote TWO books!!! It has gotten cold here again, too. I'm sick of this weather. Wish it would change and then maybe when it finally does I'll feel a little better. Coming home from Michigan last week we went from freezing cold and a blizzard to 78 degrees and sunshine in less than 4 hours. Crazy...I think that is why I got so sick! It is cold here one day and 70 degrees the next. I have to go check the temp. on TV before I go out every day to see if I'm going to need a coat, a sweater or neither!

I don't think I want anybody cutting on the nerves in my head! Thanks anyway!!! (I already have enough problems up there without adding more!!!)

Going to go check out those sites you all posted while I eat my dinner and watch Wheel of Fortune. (I'm one of those types...can't just do one thing at a time!)
