Hi Ladies and good afternoon

It is a very grey day here in the UK though it is not particularly cold at around 16c ~ 21c. It as been drizzling steadily through the day so does not look one bit like a summers day out there more like winter.

Just returned from my treatment of oxygen and it is a day where I do not have heaps of time. Tomorrow we are going to Hampshire to take a load of bean bags (well I think they are actually big cushions) it maybe to a warehouse where from there I know they are shipping it out to Lanzeroti from there.

I read that you had a total eclipse of the sun in Canada on Friday there was a partial one in the UK though we saw no sun on Friday so did not see our partial one. I only ever remember seeing a total eclipse of the sun when I was at primary school and then you do not appreciate how rare they are.

Gosh today I felt so embarassed . I went to my BIL factory and before this factory they worked in I used to see the machinists (ones who sew ) fairly regularly. My SIL also works at the factory and she was commenting on how much weight I seem to lose each time she sees me and wants my diet plan. (She will definately have to change her life style for it to work) and me to sit and tell her all about it. The embarassing bit she said have the girls seen you which I said no I had not seen them for ages as I now I no need to actually go in the room where before you walked through to get to the office. They were all shocked at my weight loss and gave me a round of appaulse I am a very shy person and do not like to draw attention to myself so I was as red as a beetroot

Funnily enough I decided to take my measurement of my tummy with the old tape measure. I do not do other ones but maybe I should. I could not believe it I had lost an inch on my tummy despite no weight loss. This might explain why all my trousers/skirts keep dropping from my waist i wonder how much I had lost if anything on other parts of my body but I will never know. So this was a nice NSV to find inch loss even if those scales have super glue on them at the minute I must admit that my breast now for the first time are seeming to reduce in size. I used to have a big boobs now they are being to shrink to deflated balloons Oh well another badge of honour to wear regarding my weight loss I know I will not come out of this unscathed I have lots of loose skin on my legs and upper arms. Though I would rather have this than be the weight I was.

MEOWEE :~ Sounds like your weather is rotten at the minute with lots of rain and even in some areas there has been flooding.

It sounds like your like my friend Joyce whom suffers from arthritis especially down her spine plus she has lots of metal work in there due to damage to the spine. If the weather is damp and cold it always tells on her and she beginning to walk with more of a pronounced limp and the pain level increases dramatically. It is nice to hear that your positive steps forward in losing that 75lbs has reaped benefits health wise and it has kept you mobile and in less pain than previously. Well done you and keep up the good work

Sound like lamb is costly for you to purchase in Canada for you too. Lamb is my DH favourite as well and we seldom have it now due to the cost involved. I also like a very simple dish made from lamb that is made up of dices lean lamb, sliced onions, sliced potatoes and root vegetables of your choice. Put things in like lamb, onions, vegetable and root vegetable in layers . Then just add cold water to cover these ingredients with seasoning and I alway put in rosemary as well. Hey viola cook slow until all ingredients are cooked just prior to serving drain some of the stock from the stew pot and make a lovely rich thick gravy. This is an excellent one if you are going out and do not have a lot of time to prepare food on returning.

VAL :~ battery dying on your scales worst nightmare. I see the scales as one way of making sure that I am not going to far of track. Especially during this period of less exercise due to my relapse. I am glad to report that i have remained within the same 2lb weight range before this all took place. I saw it as my time for maintenance practice and have learnt a few things along the way. I am hoping that those scales will start to budge in the right direction in the next few weeks or so as I gradually increase my exercise as my body allows.

Yes I can understand sitting at the front of the bus rather than the back. This awful incident will for ever be etched in our minds and more so in Canada as it happened here.

ROSEBUD
:~ Pity chicken is so costly there in Canada as we both know chicken a healthier choice of meat for you as it turkey. Sometimes it is a balancing act of healthy eating and what is affordable (especially in the UK where everything is very pricey) Turkey here is sold all year round now but bought more for special occasions such as Christmas and Easter. Though the crafty devils really hike the prices up around that time and it is often more costlier at this time of year to buy than normal.

See your getting your exercise in at your cottage site and in a beautiful and peaceful setting. It is nice to have the seclusion and it is nice and private up there. It is ideal for recharging those batteries and get away from it all.

All my news for today so I will try and drop by tomorrow time permitting.

HELLO CHICKIES ~ well, we finally got some rain today; sure needed some. It was a bit humid and hot, but we stayed home and did catch-up around here. I got lots of laundry done and even did some mending. We had a nice Chicken & Riblets bake for dinner with roasted green beans, carrots, and new potatoes. Tonight I did a crossword and some reading of a book also.

HI PURPLE ~ hope you have a good trip tomorrow and glad your oxygen treatment went well. That lamb dish sounds 'delish' too; yes, like MEOWEE says, lamb is very expensive here so I rarely buy it. I stick to chicken, turkey, lean pork or ham, extra-lean beef mostly. We have found one kind of BBQ Chicken Dog that I love and a local man here makes the leanest Italian sausages, and they are so yummy too: a nice change now and then. Congrats on the one-inch off the tummy; I love it when I lose some off mine; I'll have to do a measure soon myself. Hey, that was so sweet of those workers and your sister to applaud your victory: you have done so well, and you deserve it!

MEOWEE ~ sorry, you are getting such harsh weather out in the east. There have been some storms like that here, but being near water, I can see New Brunswich having problems with flooding. on losing those 75 lbs: I know full well that I feel so much better now than I did before too! I'm still chugging away; I am still losing inches here and there and the pounds with go eventually, I'm sure.

HI VAL ~ glad you popped in. Nice that you are getting cooler temps up there; ours should cool down by September, I think/hope ... LOL!! Happy that you had a nice long weekend too!

Well, gotta make this short as I here thunder out there again; don't want to lose another modem, so take good care, your friend ROSEBUD

Oh wowee -- we've been having a mostly sunny day -- and the temperatures have been absolutely delightfully comfy too. So you'd think I'd be feeling just wonderful, wouldn't you? For some reason I'm rather headachey and quite draggy and both the Blood sugar and the weight have done an upward bounce. Guess my body had gotten used to the continuous rain or something.

Hey, this too will pass -- Hope the sunshine sticks around for a little while though.

Have a good evening everybody . . .

HELLO LADIES ~ well, we're still up and mobile today; it rained all day yesterday and all through the night (sounds like a song -- lol), but we woke up to lovely sunshine this morning and there was a lovely breeze to go with it. Some clouds rolled in by lunch to cool things down a bit as it was in the 80's F ...

We decided to go into town and do a bit of shopping; picked up a few things we were out of like fruit and bread, plus we picked up a bit of meat as well. I went on a search for hair 'crunchies' and I did manage to a get a couple of kinds. They are clothe bands to tie up long hair and I find them handy.

We got home in the early afternoon and we spent the rest of the day doing more stuff around here. We just had some leftover chicken for dinner tonight. The real estate agent is bringing some more viewers on Friday, so I'll do once over tomorrow to make sure things look spiffy.

MEOWEE ~ I'm glad that you finally got some sunshine out there; and I hope you are feeling better soon.

HELLO TO PURPLE ~ hope your trip went well and that you had a good time; I bet you are very tired from it too.

HIYA VAL~ hope you have a great week.

Well, the hot weather has put a bit of a damper on our trips this week; DH wants to go out tomorrow, but we'll see how the weather is in the morning and how we feel before we make a final decision. All our bushes are planted and he is way ahead of schedule on the foundation, so there's no rush really and I'd rather wait until the weather is a bit cooler and dry.

Take good care, your friend ROSEBUD

Hi there . . .

I'm in better humour today and no headache -- not surprisingly, the weather is back to normal again too -- it's raining. One little difference in that it is cold and wet versus hot and wet. Forecast says we may see a bit of sun as the day progresses. Wow this has been an unusual and crummy Summer in Atlanticca so far.

Hope the rest of you get a gloriusly perfect day. . .

Hi ladies and good afternoon

Was MIA yesterday as you know I did a trip to Hampshire to a little village there. We started off around 10.30am and arrived back at home at about 7pm so it was a long day. I then had to get a hot meal ready but in my favour it was only reheating one I had previously made and reheating some gravy. So not as hard as it could have been starting from scratch. So by the end of that I was whacked out and no more energy in the pot. I just went to bed early and read my book for a little while and then went off to sleep till around 9am. The book is right up my avenue about nursing in the 1950's in the specific area of midwifery and this particular nurse was trained by catholic nuns. Not that it mattered what religion the nurses were it was just an area used for training midwives not sure whether this is still the case. The nuns did not spout religion to the nurses but saw them purely as student midwives and mothered the girls to some extent. It is a true story of midwifery in the 1950's in the East End of London which was an extremely poor area of London.

Just finished making our tea and popped it back in the fridge. Nothing too inventive just a turkey salad. It has been a while since we had one so we both fancied a few salads whilst the salad stuff was in season. Just picked up an iceberg lettuce from the green grocer on the way round of our daily walk. So that is done and dusted our daily exercise. We did wonder whether we were going to get drenched as there was a black cloud looming and looking menacing like rain. We were so fortunate that it did not rain and the cloud has moved away. So the walk was very pleasant and it is nice to see all the pretty gardens in full bloom.

ROSEBUD :~ Yes you were right I was shattered yesterday so I did not post here as I had hoped. So I was determined I would do so today.

Like yourself I have numerous colour crunchies ( we call them scrunchies here and crunchies is a honeycomb covered in milk chocolate here) they come in very handy for my hair. I have hair down to my waist well a bit longer really. I also like hair clips (barrettes I think I have the spelling right) but they are rather costly here at about $14 if not more. I also have to choose carefully with my hair being thick and heavy.

MEOWEE :~ I hate it when the scales go up for no reason that you can think of. You wouldn't mind if it was down to food you had eaten or salt intake was higher. So often it is none of these to your knowledge. I can retain water for days and days and then spend the next couple of days running to the potty. Then I end up dropping weight for my potty marathon. This weight lose journey is certainly a winding road with many ups and downs.

I can understand your frustration with the weather as last summer it was a total washout and we had more rain since weather records began for a summer though our saving grace was we did have a nice September. This was good news for us as we take our holiday in September but I felt so sorry for those taking holidays earlier especially if you have children.

I will try and pop on tomorrow whilst having breakfast as we are going to see mum and dad tomorrow. Though we have to go a little earlier as we are going to to to the butcher on the way to pick up some lean ground mince and sausage meat. These are used in making meatballs that I make in bulk and then freeze them. The meatball meal ends up being a cheap meal and filling so is a firm favourite of ours. So bye for now and take care

HELLO CHICKIES ~ well, we had just lovely weather today; perfect for going out to the lot and DH surpassed himself: he has the foundation 3/4 done now. I get a bit worried that he is over-doing it though. We had a small mid-afternoon sprinkle, but it kept us nice and cool.

PURPLE ~ Our dinner was simple too, as I had some BBQ Chicken that I had picked up yesterday, so I just threw that into the oven as soon as we got home; and then I made some rice and veggies to go with it. I had some coleslaw, but I was so full from all the rest, I didn't eat any. I like having meals like this esp on days we go to the lot; I purposely make extra, so I will have enuff for another day. I'm reading " The Deep End of the Ocean" right now; it was made into a movie a while back. I'm a little behind, as I seem to get books way after they were written: this was written in 1994. It's about a family whose life is going pretty well until their middle child goes missing while on a holiday; an interesting account how this tradegy affected the entire family and friends.

HIYA VAL ~ will certainly pray for you concerning your job application; it's kinda scarey changing jobs, but if it is something you want and can offer you some more perks, go for it! I know you've been having trouble getting the health benefits that everyone else gets: that sure doesn't seem right to me. One of my sisters recently applied for a job with a provincial gov out there: it was a pretty high position and she got it. Boy, was she happy and surprised; sometimes we under-estimate ourselves way too much; she was more than qualified .... educated, smart, and experienced. I hope things turn out well for you too.

HI MEOWEE ~ yah, this has been a rather unique year, for sure; it's the same story all across the country. We are just trying to work around the weather; we had a great day today. I prefer the cool becuz you can always put on a sweater, but if you are at a new cottage with no hydro hooked up yet, the hot sun can be terrible, as we only have A/C at home ~ LOL! I said to DH once ... how did we stand all this heat before? Esp as kids, I only recall a few really hot days, but we would go swimming a lot then too; and in almost every town we lived in, we would scout out the nearest watering hole first thing each spring ...

PS ~ I also walked around the track loop 3 x times today! Yeah ...

Well, that's all the news for now; gonna go get some tea right now; and maybe curl up with my book for awhile too. Have a great evening, your friend ROSEBUD

Hi Ladies

This will have to be a flying visit as I am off to mum and dad's very shortly. Gosh the time seems to whizz by this morning it will be time to be off before I know it. I have packed the car with DH so that is all done now.

Not sure how much time I will have tomorrow as there is a strong possibility of a trip to Worcester which is about an hour and forty five minutes away. Then off to Wales on Monday gosh it it is all go

ROSEBUD :~ The book sounds as though it could be very good. I tend not to read modern books well I mean those set in the more present day. The last one is the most modern I have ever read I think. This one set in the 1950's is more modern than I normally go for. The book sounds as though it is going to be a good read which is what you want to engross you in another world.

The chicken sounds rather good to me and the rice for that matter as I like rice. Going out for dinner at friends tomorrow so not sure what culinary delights I will be having. Neither will I today as I am going to mum and dad so dad will do be doing all the catering today but I will help if it is need it. I always wash up as I think it is most I can do if a meal has been cooked for me.

Wow you go that is good news making 3 circuits you seem to be making progress. Maybe you walking has built a little muscle up and making easier to squeeze in a little more. I am really pleased that you are making strides in your walking and you can clearly see it. It is nice to see something tangible for your hard work in the exercise department. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise and best of all it is free

VAL :~ I am so grateful for our health service here in the UK and I must not take it for granted as much as I do. When I see how difficult is it regarding health insurance especially when you have some health issues as we do. I really hope that fingers crossed that you are successful in your job application you deserve it as you are so hard working. Like Rosebud said it is scary changing jobs but on the other hand it can be exciting meeting a new challenge.

MEOWEE :~ Hello hope you are well and your blood sugar has stabilised and your weigh gone down

Bye ladies must scoot now till next time

Another day is whipping right along here -- sometimes I wonder where they go? Time in general just passes more quickly every year it seems. We have another overcast and humid, but relatively cool day on the go. BGL is a bit better, but weight is still hovering up on the higher side of 212 . . . might have something to do with the chocolate bar I devoured yesterday. Food wise, I seem to be having a good day followed by a bad day pattern developing -- must break this now.

HI LADIES ~ we had a beautiful day today; sunny in the mid-seventies and a nice breeze to boot. Perfect to put out some bedding on the line and DH cut the grass. The agent came this afternoon with a couple who seem quite interested; now we wait to see if they are serious about it.

Had a good day on plan (steaks and veggies for dinner); am a bit tired as we spent the morning spiffing the place up a bit, but it wasn't too bad really. I read a tad later last night so I'm short on sleep.

HEY PURPLE ~ hope you have a great time at your parents and a good trip on the weekend and off to WALES on Monday ... is that your planned holiday??? My book is 2/3's done; good story, but I didn't like all the 'unnecessary' foul language in the book: wasn't impressed with that!

HIYA VAL ~ TGIF will keep those prayers heading upwards; sure hope you can get something that offer more health benefits for you ...

HI MEOWEE ~ glad you feel a tad better today; things will have to get better eventually. DH and I noticed that time flies much faster as we get older; it's very noticeable. Hope you have a better time staying OP for the weekend.

Have a great weekend ladies, your friend ROSEBUD

Hi good morning Ladies

Well it is now 11am and I have been to Worcester and back was up at 5.15am so matchstick will be required very shortly no doubt. Though it was great to get it over and done with early so we have the rest of the day to ourselves plus not have the hassle of the traffic which can be murder along a stretch which serves Birmingham and the surrounding towns. We even stopped for about 30 minutes to stretch my legs and potty break. It is a beautiful service station as there is a nice grassed area for walking the dog and a lovely picnic area. Last year we used the picnic area and saw many dragonflies it was quite relaxing and not often you spot many dragonflies.

Well watched the opening of the Olympic games yesterday dinner, unfortunately due to the time difference many of the events are going to be in the early hours of the morning. The opening ceremony was very elaborate we have much to follow in 4 years time when it is in London.

ROSEBUD :~ No not my holiday on Monday yet another delivery. Though it should be our last for this week as I do not normally do more than 2 in a week unless it is a emergency. It gets way to much more than 2 trips for me. This is going to be difficult this week with having 2 that are early starts I am going to be shattered and falling asleep on Monday no doubt.
My holiday is the 6 September which is about a months time I think.

I hate it when books have unnecessary bad language it spoils the book. There are times if you are portraying a man for example who is very "rough and ready" it may be the right setting but other wise it is not really needed in my opinion. Very seldom do my books have bad language which is nice to have.

MEOWEE :~ I am afraid I relented and had a chocolate bar this morning as I was so hungry, not by best food choice in the world I must admit I must try and not do this otherwise I will go down the slippery road of my bad eating habits. So that is my confession over with So I think I will have to walk as far as I can today to walk as much of that chocolate bar off as I can My sister is so svelte like and can eat what she wants and doesn't put and ounce on and me look so much as at a chocolate bar and I put 2lbs on Something not quite fair about that I reckon. Everybody who meets us can not believe we are sisters as we are different as chalk and cheese body wise though similar in nature. Though as I have lost the weight I can see one picture taken of me recently and I can see my sister in my now which I have never done.

Well looking pretty miserable here now as it is raining and cold. I must try and squeeze in some chores this weekend to catch up on those. I have slung the Hoover (vacuum) round already. Just need to wash the clothes, towels and bed linen. Does not sounds so much when i say it like that Well time for me to go and do some of those chores now as I have stretched this coffee break as long as a dare Bye and take care

Morning all . . .

I slept in this morning -- consequently the BGL is a little higher than I'd like -- always happens that way. At least the www that I've been playing around with seems to have finally left the building. for a good weekend of no chocolate and no other treats or trigger foods either. Plan to keep myself nice and busy with some sewing projects -- my apron requirements are now up to 7 (only two are done so far) and this latest one requires that I quilt the fabric before actually making it into an apron. Oh well, they are for Christmas presents so I'm feeling ever sooooooo well organized. BUT, I bet I'm still floundering around looking for last minute stuff in December anyway. Also still have crocheting stuff on the go too, of course.

Looks like another mainly overcast and very humid day around here -- but I just saw a glimmer of sunshine so maybe things will improve. At least it is staying fairly cool. Maybe I'll actually get myself outside for a little moving and shaking later on.

Hope everybody has a great day . . . . . . Stay just as OP as you possibly can, gang, and I'll see you later.

jen! you've found a great bunch of supportive ladies. come back and tell us more about yourself

Alright all... I GOT AN INTERVIEW!! City Hall called me on Friday (they told me that I was their first call back -- the woman doing the calling is an acquaitance) the interview isnt till the last week of august (interview people are on vacation etc) but yay for step one

I recently started fitting into Large size clothing. Not everywhere.. but some XL is too big.. and along with the 'L' sizes has come a bunch more comments about me looking good. And not quiet comments or anything.. like somebody sees me and yells out loud causing half a dozen people to look our way while they tell me I've lost so much weight.

I'm hate it. My ultimate goal is to completly blend in. Be in a crowd and not be noticably different. Anyways... it's embarassing but I havent come up with a solution to get people to be quiet. Yes I lost weight. No I didnt starve myself. Sometimes when I really want them to shut up I start talking about multiple sclerosis and the interferon I'm injecting. But a lot of people dont know what MS is.

Just a rant. I got sunburned yesterday (yay- I just appreciate being healthy and mobile enough to be able to walk on an uneven deck and sit in the sun!!!) I took the day off and went to the lake with some girlfriends. I put sunblock on my face and shoulders thinking that would do it since those are my first places to burn. ha ha. it's double duta aloe products since.

Purple - I didnt realize 2012 games were in london - exciting hope your weather clears up!

Rosebud
thanks for your prayers with my job application.
