Glad that the shot helped!! I wrote down chloroquine. Now, is it an OTC thing or prescription? I can't believe the store was gone!! Oh my!! Amen to it being God's will about everything!

It has rained all day here, so I've been hurting. Bob has a meeting later, so I'm headed to Wal Mart to pick up a few things. My list keeps growing!!

Mima 04-26-2007 05:06 AM

It's a script and it is used to treat malaria but doc said it eventually slows down arthritis. I do not like the side effects so I am going to stop taking it for a couple of days. I think it makes me tired, gives pains, and congetsion. Don't run out and get it.
I got my material at Walmart-pretty yellow check-have it cut out at least.
Eye appt at 11.
The town where my son lives had their water tainted with lye from a malfunctioning pump. Finally got him and I said don't drink the water. He sid his dog was enjoying a big bowl of it-he has a well!! But his tenant in the other house had to be decontaminated. Not fun!!
I have been to Walmart 2x already. Bye Mima

Tammy 04-26-2007 01:39 PM

Mima, I think I"ll stay away from that medicine.

Received a call from the preacher at our old church last night. There is a Women's Emmaus Walk this weekend, and a member of the team is sick and had to cancel out. I am now on the team! I go tonight about 5, and I won't be home until sometime Sunday night. I know most of the people on the team, and I've done it before, so I'm looking forward to it. Not looking forward to all of the food that will be there though!!

Have a great weekend everyone!! I need to go take a nap to get prepared for no sleep on the weekend!!

Mima 04-27-2007 05:00 AM

That's great-I remember when you went last time!

Went to eye doc's and got a new script even though there is only a little change in my vision. She also put something in my eyes to keep them moistened and if it works she will put them in permanently. I don't know name of it but I trust her-she is so tiny, Asian, must wear a 2 or 4!!!! That's not why I trust her. Other doc never treated my dry eyes, cataracts are still small-yeah.
Went for a walk yesterday and came home and got attacked by my body-pains in my stomache-achiness, etc. I am supposed to help Angela and Brett but I think I should wait til tomorrow. It could be sinuses -not the pains in my stomache though. I just don't think they are draining.
It's pouring. Not good for cellar.
Church is going to buy the washing machine-Isaac was happy.
Bye for now-Mima

Happy Canuk 04-27-2007 09:39 AM

Good morning.

Tammy - have fun. I know you enjoyed this last time. Hope the naps help before hand:)

Mima - what are the name of the drops she is putting in your eyes? I have dry eyes as well, and they darn well hurt. I hope you find out what is bothering your stomach. Glad the washing machine got approved.

It is sure quiet on this board. I guess it is that time of year.

Less than 3 weeks before we leave on our holiday. I am NOT looking forward to the 16 hours or more of travelling, but I know I will enjoy it once I am there. It's not just the flying, but after we get off the plane, we have to drive from Germany to Denmark - about 3 hours or so.

I have some housework to do today, but other than that, I will try to get out and enjoy this beautiful day. SPRING has FINALLY arrived in Alberta.

Hope you all have a nice day. Hi, Joanne and Meme.

Hey There

Hello Everybody- Went to the annual book sale today. There are just too many books that I would like so I had to limit myself.. I am addicted to those things and can get carried away.
Tammy has more stamina than I have. I could never do a weekend walk. I am getting back om the T/M for 30 minutes and will try to work that back up to a hour..My knees already hurt.
I have done pretty good with my eating the last 3 days. My thing is keeping it up...
I did a dumb thing. The puppy likes to play with empty jugs. I gave her a empty oatmeal box to play with which she took into her crate. After awhile I heard her tapping it on the side of the crate. I looked and she had her head stuck in the box. Well, she will never get another one. I am just glad we didn't go off and leave it with her.She would have died. No air!.
Mima- The eye Dr. plugged my tear ducts a few years ago because I had dry eyes so bad and they kept leaking.I use Systane drops since my cateract surgery. They are otc. That is what the eye clinic recommended.
Happy- I sure envy you your trip.. I have never been outside the U.S. It is not likely I ever will. The weather here is nice.. We still need rain. It is very dry here.It was muggy today but not really too hot.
Hello Meme- I spent a lot of years trying to be the good ole girl.. They took advantage of me all the time. No more. I have learned the value of the word no.People are not going to like me any more if I keep saying yes and then wishing I had kept my mouth shut.Hope you are doing well.
Have a Great Weekend Everybody...Joanne

Mima 04-28-2007 06:34 AM

I believe the Emmaus Walk is a spiritual walk-not physical. I remeber from last time Tammy went.
I have Restasis for dry eyes. The allergy med was Pataday but I looked it up and my insurance won't pay-she could write a letter but I bet it would be 35 a month like the restasis. What she implanted in my eyes is working well.
Went to the new house-it's really cute for the money-I cleaned a bit-more today. Brad will wire. They have so much STUFF!!! Toys galore. Kids don't need that many toys-I played with a doll, played outside in the woods, made doll clothes and walked to the bookmobile to devour books. Evan has a lot of toys but he does play with them-he is always so busy. It's a different generation.
We went to our couples group last night and didn't get to bed til 11:30. Not good because Brad woke me up at 5:30. He's sleeping and I am typing. I will not stay at the house all day.
Where is Meme??
Joanne-,my son's airconditioner went on the blink 2 weeks after we left FL-you know how hot it is, He and brad talked about putting in a new system next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4500$ later!!!!
Bye Mima

Happy Canuk 04-28-2007 09:59 AM

Good morning.

Nice to see you Joanne. Glad you were home for the puppy. I hope you can get on track and lose those blinking pounds. They seem to bother you a lot. I don't think you will be able to notice much loss with 5 pounds.

Mima - Kids do have so much today, and they don't really appreciate any of it. Give them a cardboard box or an upside down chair and you have a happy kid.

Tammy's walk is spiritual. I remember that because I had never heard of it before.

Here's a cute thought for the day.

Hey There

Happy- I have only 7 lbs to lose to be where I want to be.Everybody tells me to let it go and be satisfied with what I have lost.. They don't understand that for over 30 years I was very over weight. Every pound is a big thing for me. I weigh 147 now.The Dr. wanted me to go to 125 but I said no. I am 5' 4" and 140 is where I want to be. I have been trying for almost 3 years to get there. I guess at my age and lack of enough will power it is not all that easy.
Thanks for setting me straight on that walk Tammy is on. I was getting worried for her.:carrot: I have managed the T/M for 4 days in a row so far.. 30 minutes for now.. I have to work up my time again.. With the Dr. and my family on my behind I might get back what I lost in stamina.
Mima- That is about what ac's cost these days. I paid almost that much 20 years ago. Yes, we do need the ac down here now..Mine has been a good one. No problems at all. My sister has replaced 2 of them since I got mine.
Hello Everybody....Joanne

Mima 04-29-2007 06:09 AM

You sure have a good one, Joanne.
Mike will not get his til Tues. And it's 90 there. He spent yesterday going in the pool and walking around in his wet bathing suit. Jill went to her mother's, They also could use our house. He just spent 4500 fixing his pool!!!!!!!! It's not my problem, though. He makes good money and he's very good with handling it-he saves for things.
Well, I did it again. I made myself sick cleaning. I have asthma frm the dust and chemicals and I hurt from getting on my knees. I can't seem to admit I have those health problems-it makes me feel old. I actually hire the girl across the street to do my dusting.
I also have a real problem with wasting money to buy stuff that are only wants. Not needs. I am sure that I had that problem=I know I did-and that's why it bothers me. It's a soul sickness and I see it among the young so much today. Also living in disarray.
Brad put in the electrical and spent $80 on the wire. Then Angela's father called and said it needed to be moved because the drawer wouldn't close on the stove. I knew that but I thought it was because of the pan covers Angela wanted in the stove drawer,
I have to say they have a great house for the money. And a great yard. But if they bring their bad habits with them , it won't be any different than before. That's what I am praying for. Of course, that took me a long time. But I was brought up in a scupulously clean house. That was compulsive on the other end.

Today is Debbie's bd party at church. And Sunday school and church and out for lunch before the party. Except for a late nap, that's not such a bad day.
Joanne, I am less that 5 feet and I am happy when my weight is 126-naked-yuk for that picture. Concentrate on your health and cholesterol etc instead of a number and it will fall into place. I am sure you are afraid of losing control because of the past weight. Mu downfall wt was 140-being so small ans small-boned-I was a blimp. I need to walk and swim.
Brad's sugar is down and he has to test and go for blood work next Fri-that is answered prayer.
Bye for now. Mima
Great movie-Last Holiday with Queen Latifah-on dvd.

Tammy 04-30-2007 03:48 PM

Hi Ladies!! What a weekend! I definitely felt that God has a reason for what he does. I felt so confident that He would work with the women at our table, and He certainly did! I was amazed at the growth that I saw in all 4 women. There is an assistant table leader too, and I can't believe how close the 6 of us are after the weekend. It was like we had all known each other for ever. Our ages ran from 43-63, so that age difference was closer than some of the other tables. One table's ages ran from 23-70.

I tried to hit the fruit and vegie trays instead of the cookies and candy over the weekend. I only ate vegie dip once!!! When I got weighed this morning, I was up 2 pounds but my period is starting so I think the gain is from that.

I slept longer last night than I did over the entire weekend! I had 10 hours of sleep last night, so that shows how much I had over the weekend. I also just woke up from a 2 hour nap.

Mima, that's great about the medicine for you eyes. I hope it continues to work. Glad that it worked out for the washer ! Kids really do have lots of things. I know some of my students were amazed that Tim had never had any video games while growing up. (still doesn't) One boy asked me how Tim has survived without them. So many children have little or no imaginations like in "the days of old". It's not a good thing either.

Anne, your trip sounds wonderful even with the long flight and then the drive. Take lots of pictures!!! So glad that spring has finally arrived for you! I love the picture of the dog! It really looks like Kramer's face only he is a dachsund.

Joanne, I'm with you on the books!!! There was a book table set up at the walk this weekend. I didn't buy any while I was there, but I have a few I would like to check out from the library or possibly purchase someday. The poor puppy!!! Glad you were home to help her out of that situation. You have come so far on your weight loss journey. You are an inspiration for others. It is so much harder to lose anything the older we get.

I'm 5'8" and big boned. I have SEVERAL pounds to lose before I get to where I want to be. I know where my doctor wants me to be, and it just isn't going to happen. lol

I need to go fold some clothes.
Take care!!

Mima 05-01-2007 05:21 AM

Oh, Tammy, so glad your weekend was good. I used to go on Al-anon -ACOA weekends and other spiritual retreats. I remeber how much it energized me. PTL
Anne-hope your trip is wonderful. Even the anticipation of going is nice. Be flexible-that's what we learned on our Jamaican trip-of course we were with Isaac who is very flexible and keeps changing things around-all for the good.
Still waking up early. Need to walk but we went shopping instead-now the cupboards are full and we spent mucho moola!!!!!! I had lots of money left over this month and I realizrd I spent some money on taxes that I hadn't deducted. If I die before Brad, he will never figure out my checking acct. figures. I save money in separate places!!! In My checkbook.
Got the top of the baby quilt done. Filed my papers but there are more to do. I have 2 accordion files-one for the business and one for the house. Aren't you impressed!
I have to get new lenses and I want those glasses with no frames but you can't have trifocals in them and you can't change the script like I have been doing with the lenses I have. . Dilemma! Let's see-want or need.
Hey Meme-where is you???? I know that's incorrect, ladies.
Bye for now Mima

Happy Canuk 05-01-2007 10:30 AM

Good morning Mima and Tammy.

Mima - I am probably one of the most "flexible" people around  I never tie myself down to a schedule, but I am also very organized. I sent my taxes in already and have the refund back. Last night was the deadline. I have those glasses with frames and I love them. They are sooo light. I have the progressive lens and they did cost me $1000.00. I have to wear them all the time, I want something that isn't sliding down the nose when it's hot and something really comfortable. I also got the sunglasses that go with them. On my other pair, I bought a pair of clip ons and wrecked them. The sunglasses weighed more than the glasses, and the place where they snap on to the glasses (on the corners) cracked by where the arm is attached to the glasses.

Tammy - sounds like you had a fantastic experience this weekend. That is wonderful. I am also, 5"8" tall and I think Meme is as well.

Joanne - I do hope you are able to walk on your TM without ending up with a lot of pain. I got myself a REBOUNDER and I am loving it. It is a nice gentle exercise, but effective.

I think I might have to go to the chiro this morning. My back feels like it is in the wrong place. So a little tweek might be necessary.

Hi ... I haven't died. Just been busy. Hubby went on second shift Monday and things have been really hinky around here. It will take some getting used to. We did it for years but that was years ago. One of the hardest things is having to eat a large meal at noon ... I don't know if I can get used to that. I'm sure it is healthier to do that and then eat light at night. Just what you get used to, I guess.

I quit teaching piano. I also asked our pastor's wife if she would be willing to take over the choir at church. She has a teaching degree and I think she minored in music and has lead choirs before at other churches. She is thinking it over. If she does, that will relieve me of a lot. I will only have the Coordinator of Education job, singing on the praise team Sun. mornings, & occasionally playing the piano and singing solos.

I find that I'm not getting much done with hubby home all morning. He has a problem 'finding' things. He's constantly yelling where's this and where's that. He runs in and out looking for his 'stuff'. Drives me nuts.

There are other things going on, too. I'm just not a very happy camper right now. In a funk and need to get out. Feeling totally used. Problem is ... they don't know it but they've about used me all up. When I told hubby this morning I was thinking about giving up the choir he was ... well, you should really think about that first (like I hadn't) you love the choir (how does he know what I love) she won't have them singing the same kind of music you will and the older people won't like that (once again thinking about someone else besides ME). All his arguments and suggestions were for me to continue on leading the choir and they were almost all benefiting someone else ... not thinking about me! Story of my life.

Oh well ... didn't mean to bore you. Hope you all are doing well. Glad you all are doing ok. Glad you had a good weekend, Tammy. Hope you are feeling better, Mima. Joanne, I need to lose about 10 ... isn't easy. I know people who have a lot more to lose think why are we stressing over such a small amount but 10 can so easily grow to 20 and so on. I just want to get it off and get back in my 10s. Actually, I'm 5'9" and have very small bones so I could weigh 140 easily ... but I'll settle for 150 ish. I'm fine anywhere from 148 to 152. That puts me in a 10. I was at 158 this morning ... too much ... I've been having to wear my 12s.

Tammy 05-02-2007 05:35 AM

Meme, glad to hear from you!! Bob worked 2nd shift for many years. It does take some getting used to. Glad to hear that you are giving up things. I'm sure it was a tough decision. I do think that there are many who are blind and dumb!!! lol I think he needs to think about what is best for YOU not others, but I'm not sure you can convince him of that.

Anne, I think I'll pack my suitcase and just go with you on your trip. Think anyone would notice me?
