Carol Sue When we lived in FL, we went to early church at 8:30 am and always ate breakfast out after. Then when we moved to SC, church was later, but we still went out for breakfast. One Sunday, I said to him, why do we go out to pay someone to cook what I can cook just as well at home and we stopped eating out for breakfast. I like going out to eat things I don't cook or can't cook as good at home. Once I started chemo etc, it is easier to just get takeout. Now we are back to takeouts again.
I've read that there are people who do certain things to cure their cancers etc but it isn't guaranteed. In fact, I read that some people heal certain cancers with certain diets, but others can use those diets and the cancer continues. I don't know where I fall in those examples so I've decided that I should eat certain foods that fight cancer and I'm also looking at anti-inflammatory diets plans as well. I am convinced sugar feeds cancer and possibly certain high carbs could be a problem as well. I honestly believe eating one balanced meal and having protein drinks or meals at other meals are good choices. I miss my milk but do not know if I can trust the milk sugar not to feed cancer so I don't drink it at all. I did take Gabapentin for a while but it didn't help at all so I stopped taking it. I only take the Tramadol as needed. DH tales Gabapentin. They have started charging for it now. His last prescription cost $15. Not sure why. My Tramadol only cost me $1.36 for a months supply. Weight has stayed the same for 3 days. Yesterday we had KFC and and 2 protein shakes and weight was the same today as yesterday. I hope as my body adjusts to this woe that maybe I will start losing some. I would like to reach my 150 lb goal and be able to hover there and maybe work toward going toward a new goal of 140 lbs. DS only got a lot of rain and electricity going in and out but they have a generator. I haven't heard how DDIL sister and her family are doing as I think they live in TX City which seems to be flooded. I don't think we are going to get any rain from this at all. Enjoy your time out. BBL |
According to the map they show on the news, the storm is going to go to North western Pa and we are in Southwestern Pa. But we are predicted to get some rain. We get rain often but not enough for flooding most of the time. There are a lot of rivers and creeks in our area that often overflow their banks. We don't get a lot of sun here.
I don't get charged for any of my meds and I take a lot. I used to get charged for two but they either changed the cost or I dont take them anymore. In the hospital they changed a few of my meds. My PCP wants to change my diabetes med but they all have side effects that I dont want.I hope I can lower my A1c on my own. I bought the 2 cookbooks at Goodwill. They are both Fix it and Forget It for the slow cooker. We got breakfast sandwiches at MC Donalds. I don't know what we are eating for dinner. Anytime I plan a meal he says no,so I let him decide. _______________ We went to Bob Evans for dinner and I got a big salad. Its new on their menu. Its a Grilled Chicken Chopped Salad, and apparently it replaces the Cobb Salad but is very similar. It satisfied my craving for salad. Then we went back to Goodwill and I got some exercise capris,so now I have no excuse for not getting back to exercise except laziness. |
What I ate today didn't satisfy me. Not sure why. I told DH I am ready for another steak so we are going to have it tomorrow. I hope I get used to this 2 protein shakes and a meal. May have to add a protein snack.
Carol Sue I'm glad you got your hunger for the salad satisfied. Going to bed soon. I've been sleeping good lately. |
I did not sleep well last night at all, in spite of Benedryl. Maybe my body is getting used to it already. I kept waking up and looking at the clock.
If you. are craving a steak maybe the protein is getting to you and you are leaning toward carnivore. Does your DH eat low carb, too? We are going to have another very hot streak again. Seems like this is going to be a summer when we can't spend a lot of time outside. I never spend much time outside but DH does. We like to have temps in the low to mid 80s. We could never live in stated that have temps over 100. I would never come out of the house. And we get high humidity and that makes it feel even hotter. We are going to get rain but not from Beryl.. I want to cook a whole chicken today but can't turn on the oven. Maybe I will cook it outside on the grill with the lid closed. |
Carol Sue I think I do lean towards carnivore but just not sure about it 100%. Plus it is very expensive.
I would love to start cooking roasted chickens myself instead of buying them already cooked. I like being able to cook them in the air-fryer seasoning them myself. I think they have way too much sodium plus not sure what else is injected in them. I lke to salt them myself and add a lemon and an onion to it and cook it. I may suggest that to DH when he goes to the store again. When all these eye surgeries are over and I can get back to normal, I will start cooking things again and I just might get back to carnivore most of the time. Not sure, because I do believe the cancer fighting veggies are very important to be a part of my woe. I've been sleeping good but wake up tired. I'm thinking that is just part of the stress of all that is going on right now. Once these things are straightened out and I am back to oncology treatment, maybe the stress will let up. It is cool here for a few days after the storm, but it won't last long. It is nice not to have the temps in the 100s as it would normally be. Calories today less than 1200 and weight was back down to 156 this morning. Can't seem to get my FBG to stay under 100s as it was 106 this morning. I have to admit that blood sugar is less than 100s when I do eat carnivore. I just can't do it all the time. Perhaps I need to work toward a Ketovore plan. Have a good day. |
DH lit the grill and put the chicken on, but good thing I went out and checked because he did it wrong. I light the right side on low to medium then put the chicken on the left side and close the lid. It makes it like an oven, full of heat but no flame under the chicken. He had the chicken over the flame. The bottom would have burned. I put a piece of celery with leaves and a piece of onion in the cavity. I didn't have any lemon. And I rubbed butter on the breast and legs. It will take about 90 minutes on low. If it doesn't seem to be getting done I will turn it to med. You can't close the lid on high. I always worry about the grill since its on the deck but I can't stay out there in the heat the whole time. I go out and check it.
I understand you not doing full carnivore. It is expensive and I enjoy some other foods too much. Before I met DH I rarely ate starch such as potatoes or pizza, pasta etc. I didn't buy them. And I didn't eat out unless someone else was buying. I stayed as low carb as I could. Veggies were green beans and cauliflower. They were the lowest carb veggies I knew. If I went somewhere, like to my mothers,I ate whatever she served and enjoyed it. Time to check my chicken! |
The chicken turned out good but not as good as a rotisserie chicken because of what they inject it with. But I know that is high sodium. Mine is healthier but not as tasty. DH cooked corn on the cob and home fried potatoes.

Not good sleep last night. I am becoming immune to the Benadryl because of taking it every night, plus I've been going to bed earlier because DH complains that I was coming to bed at 12 or 1 AM. If I read for awhile before going to bed I get sleepy. I also had a headache. I rarely get headaches but I've had them all thru this weather.
I hope you weren't affected by the hurricane. I heard it was mostly around Houston. Thats what they showed on national news. DH wants to go to the casino. I suspected that before I went to bed last night and that interfered with my sleep. I have to find something to read on my Kindle. I don't want to gamble. I finished Obesityode and all I got from it was to go back to a short eating window. I love my eggs so can't give up breakfast or brunch. But recently I've been eating in the evening too. One has to stop and it will be evening. I like to go to bed on an empty stomach. The evening eating could be interfering with my sleep, too. I wish I could go back to my afternoon nap too. Im all out of kilter. Guess I'll go look for A book. __________ I found a couple books on my Kindle. First one I will start is IF and Keto Diet. Our water is off again. Last time the problem was up the street, now its down the street. If I was staying home I was going to do laundry. DH did jeans this morning before the water was shut off. That was the first clue that he wanted to go to the casino. He wanted clean jeans to wear. After that he told me he wanted to go. I don't know which one he's going to. Im afraid to ask. I want the one with the food court to read, but the local one for the short drive. Im so glad the water wasn't shut off until the washer was finished. Some of my jeans were in there, too! We are never notified that they are shutting it off. What if someone was washing clothes? What if someone was taking a shower? Got all soapied up then can't rinse the soap off because the water is shut off. It was just recently that the leak was up the street. |
Carol Sue We didn't get even a drop of rain out of the hurricane. DS and DIL lost some limbs off their trees and a tree fell on their above ground pool. He said the electricity went in and out but they never lost power. His SIL and her family came over to their house and they all hung out together. Their cousins who live in the country lost a trees and their camper and windows. They are blessed that they lost no animals or their own lives.
I slept so sound last night that I woke up with a terrible headache. I got up and went to potty and went back to bed to let the headache let up. I finally got up and dressed because I wanted to get the call from the surgical office to give me my time for surgery in the morning. Took Tylenol and it finally let up. I got the call this morning around 9ish and I will have my left eye done at the same time I had the right eye done around 6:15 am. I will be glad to get it done. We will be back home in time to have breakfast which will be a protein shake. I told DH that we can get pizza on the way home from the doctor's office tomorrow afternoon. Carol Sue I am like you, I really enjoy my breakfast and have really missed it. So I do will not be giving up my breakfast which means I too need to give up eating at night. I could drink a protein shake in the evening, but stop eating after 8 hrs, I've got to get my act together. I told DH that I could do Carnivore during the week and once a week have a cheat meal when we have takeout. I mean there is a diet called Ketovore (not sure I spelled it right) where you do some days keto and some days carnivore. So I think it could be done. I never used to eat past 3 or 4 pm and don't know why or when I started eating at night. I've got to get back to a shorter eating window. Hope you have a good day at the casino and enjoy your reading. I need to go back to reading my carnivore book and see if I can or will even do it. |
After our water came back on the electricity went out. I dont know why,,but it came right back on. We had a sibk full of dishes and DH washed them, but he wanted me to get ready.
I am in rhe food court now. I want to watch Kelly Ripa's exercise routine on instagram. |
Sorry you had problems with water and electricity although I am glad it came back on. I don't think I know who Kelly Ripa is.
Ready to go to bed. Will write tomorrow after I get back home. We will go to the store on the way home from surgery and then I have to go back to the doctor's office tomorrow on the way home. |
I want to be as thin as Kelly Ripa. She is a TV star, and has a show with her husband,Mark Consueloss, every morning. She weighs 110 lbs. Every morning at 9:00 I have to watch her walk out on stage to see what she's wearing. Im obsessed. She has videos of her exercise routines on Instagram. She works with a personal trainer and eats a Mediterranean Alkaline diet.
A very odd thing is,while we were at the casino I got a text from step daughter that their electricity was out. They live 1-2 miles from us in the next town. It was out for about an hour. It was not storming but was windy. There is a new house being built near them and that could have cause their outage. We have water and electricity today. We have to go to the store because DH has no milk for his coffee and I have a list for Walmart. |
Left eye is done. It is awkward with the patch on the left side, I don't remember it being this bad last week. They told me I would sleep last week, but I never did. I think because I was too keyed up, but I was relaxed today and I am ready for a nap this week so I think I will take one.

Im glad both your eyes are done now, Trish. Will you need reading glasses? My eyes have been terrible lately. I am so overdue for an eye exam, but I'm afraid of what all might be wrong. They are very sensitive to bright light. I have had so many serious health problems that I figured I would be dead before my eyes got bad. But guess what? I was wrong. Im still here and my eyes are bad. DH says I read too much and it might be true since I read mostly electronically.
We are going to have a few more days in the low 90s then it will drop back into the 80s. We aren't used to this much heat. Do you have humidity in Texas? Almost time for my soaps to start! BBL |
Well, I'm finally coming back to life. I've slept off and on all day. At least my having to get up at 4 am in the morning is over, but it was nice to be the 2nd one to have my eye surgery this morning. I've got my eye drops and have the goggles on they gave me to sleep in. It will be nice when the swelling is gone. My vision is already sharper. I am very happy with it. I will have to go see the doc next week for a follow up. I could almost read the bottom line on the chart. DH said I did really well.
We got pizza on the way home, but it wasn't as good as it used to be. We think they changed the kind of sauce they use. I guess everybody is cutting back where they can. DH did get us a hem. I don't guess he knows the difference in a chicken and a hen. I surely do hope it is a good one and not a tough one. DH#2 wouldn't buy them because she always said they are too tough. Any way I will cook it tomorrow and hope it is good. I haven't bought one in years. Have a good evening. |
