Carol Sue, You are only 3 lbs higher than me as my weight was up 1 lb today. I'm not really sure why. I had a few bites of watermelon as we cut it last night because there were too much for 2 containers. It was after my 4 hr eating window but it was still within 10 or 11 hrs and they claim some people do 12 hr eating windows and still lose. I just don't believe that would cause my weight to go up especially since FBG was 98 this morning. Maybe it was just the water. I slept great and even went to bed earlier than usual so I actually got 8 hrs sleep which is rare for me because I like to get up everyday by 8 or 8:30 and seldom sleep later. Oh well, I will just keep eating healthy. I am beginning to wonder if maybe I'm not eating enough and my body is hanging on to what it gets. Maybe I need to be eating 1200 calories and not 1000. I'm going to try to finish reading Calorie Myths so I can give it back to Amazon.

I did get my machine and used it for 10 minutes sitting in a chair. Boy it woke the circulation in my legs. They stung so bad from them opening up, but when I put hand lotion on them they were fine. I did remember to put the lotion on this morning before I used it and I stood on it for the 10 minutes. I think as I get more comfortable with it I will be able to us it without holding on to something. DH put it behind the recumbant bike so I can use the back of it to be sturdy and I used it to hold on and do a few squats. Boy it shakes you so on low which makes me wonder how I will ever do a faster level. I also did my regular core and other weight bearing exercises that I was doing befre so all my exercise is done for today. I have to say that I feel so much better after using it. Today DS told me that she has one and it is behind her chair. I sure hope she will be encouraged to use it again.

Carol Sue, I look forward to hearing how that doctor eats. I'm trying to keep the carbs down. I'm thinking about going more balanced diet rather than carb counting etc. If his plan is similar to WW, I might be interested in it. Is this a book you bought or can it be read free?

Pork chops for today and really thinking about giving up my salads for a while and just eat other veggies. Might even try that for a while and see what happens.

Trish, this book was not free but its only $7.36. I will pay for a book I really want to read like I did with Dr Fung's books. I can't remember where I heard about him but I read about him online and I wanted to hear what he had to say. I'm glad he is not plant based because I don't want to give up meat, but I wouldn't want to give up vegetables either. I didn't really like the beginning of the book but now I think he's going to get more interesting. He doesn't seem to be saying this is a weight loss plan but a plan to reverse diseases including obesity. He said he became a doctor to help people. He signed up with a group but they just gave people pills. So He opened his own clinic so he could reverse peoples diseases.

My DH said the vibration seems to help his circulation but I didn't notice it so much. Maybe your sister will start using hers now that you have one.

I had the salad bar today. It was closed over the pandemic. This is the first time I've had it since it reopened. It was good. Refreshing.

Carol Sue the book sounds good, but I will wait to see how you feel about it before I would buy it. If it is as good as Dr. Fung's b ooks, I may want it. I'll wait and see,

I joined FitDay but I don't like the fact that all the food counts are basically general and they don't have all my foods on it. I looked at LiveStrong but they only have an and I don't want to do this stuff on my phone. I like using an app to keep up with calories etc. So I guess I will stick with MFP. I ate 3 meals but did them within 6 hrs and my calorie total was 1069 and net carbs 49 without me even trying to keep them low. I didn't eat a salad today and it seemed to have helped me not to eat so many carbs. I may have to try this for a while.

You mentioned the flip flops. I don't wear them any where but here at home. I'm afraid to wear them in public because I'm not steady enough wearing them just anywhere. I wear sandals everywhere else except when weather turns cold then I switch to sneakers.

I don't know how all this will show on the scales, but I've had a very good day.

Weight is up again, 187.2. I'm still not eating the way I should and I'm not able to close my eating window after dinner. I'm not eating bad food, but too much. I'm eating when I'm not hungry. That's a bad habit I always seem to fall back into.

Trish I read a little more of the book. In my opinion, it is not as good as Dr Fung's books but they are completely different. Dr Fung leans toward low carb and fasting. This doctor is for less fat and protein and more fruits and vegetables. I hope he explains how his way of eating reverses disease. That would convince me to follow it.

Weight is back down to 183 this morning. I know that is good but I want to see 181 and lower. I hate that the scale seems to tease me with 181 for a day and then bounces back up to 183 to 184. Just because my weight is 183 today doesn't mean it won't be more tomorrow. It is like a guessing game these day. I'm wondering if calorie myths book is right and I've messed up my set point and need to reset it, but I don't want to chance seeing 190s on the scale again. I just feel like I'm just sitting and spinning my wheels. So I just keep doing what I'm doing because I'm afraid to chance it.

I am surprised that I'm getting more comfortable on the vibration platform machine. I do all my exercise including the machine first thing in the morning. Regular exercises while getting dressed and then 10 minutes on the machine while coffee is brewing. I turn on The Message contemporary Christian music while doing the machine and found it easy to exercise on. Some holding on to the back of the bike and some not. It makes the 10 minutes go quickly and also makes it fun to do.

Carol Sue, I think your DH probably does feel the circulation getting better because I honestly believe it is working to improve mine. Besides the fact that it is good for building bone density, when I read that it helps improve circulation were the 2 main selling points for me.

I too am curious to know how the book tells you the doc eats to reverse diseases. I do believe that we are missing some things when we leave out some foods doing extremely low carb. I was watching Dr. Berg the other day about the fact that B1 plust some other vitamins and minerals diffecencies cause sensitivity to light and cataracts. I take a B complex because when you don't eat grains you don't get those. Obviously, I'm not getting enough B1 in my vitamins. I take so many pills now and I just hate having to take one more. I take B12, but found it interesting that he said we get B12 in beef and organ meats. Which just makes me find it interesting that we are told not to eat beef.

Unless DH changes my plan we will have parmassen chicken today. I will not have the salad again today and see how that goes. Had 2 eggs and 1/2 avocado for Brunch. and will finish my day for with the Premier Protein shake. My FBG seems to like that and it was back down to 97 this morning.

Carol Sue, I Googled how many calories burned on WBV machine and it says 10 minutes is equivalent to 174 calories burned on treadmill. That treadmill is accepted on MFP and when tracking exercise you can put 14 minutes on it. and get the 174 count/

I'm just about finished with the book. It had some interesting information near the end but was not worth the $7 to me. Maybe others found it informative. My main takeaway was eat lots of fruits and vegetables. He insinuated that this fights disease but I expected clearer guidelines. I liked the chapter on gut bioeme. I also liked what he calls hunger tolerance. Learn to be ok with hunger and to expect it. Hunger cleans and detoxes the body. I definitely have a problem with rarely being hungry. This means I am overeating.

I have not been doing the vibration every day, but every other day. Maybe the reason I don't feel that circulation has improved is because my circulation is already good. When DH had PT coming here after his hip surgery she showed him some exercises that improve circulation in the legs and I do them when sitting in my chair. But I am walking much better without balance issues most of the time. When I get up from sitting I still have to hesitate before walking to be sure I'm steady. But I don't need to hold DHs arm as much.

I did not get on the scale today. I guess I will do that now. Trish, I think you are now at your setpoint. It is normal to fluctuate a few pounds. You need to break through that set point to form a new lower one. In most cases you will touch on a lower weight but rarely stay there. You will bounce for a while and it might be a long while. Your body does not want to let go of that weight.

My weight stayed the same, 187.2. Its no wonder. I just logged my food from yesterday. Over 1400 calories and way over 100 carbs. I had some fried rice which I love. I found a recipe online to make it with cauliflower rice but this was from a restaurant. I actually love cauliflower rice. My brain registers it as rice, not cauliflower. The only reason I don't like making things like that is because DH won't eat it. I don't want to eat my food and also his food. Eating in restaurants solves that problem somewhat but limits choices.

Today I had 2 fried eggs, 2 slices of bacon, 1 slice of tomato and 1 slice of SL toast. I usually eat a very low carb breakfast. The trouble begins with eating the rest of the day. I want salmon. I would like to go to Rodneys or Texas Roadhouse for salmon salad. Depends on DH as always. I love salmon.

Carol Sue, I'm trying to side if I'm going to do the vibration machine today. I thought about 5 days M-F and off Sat & Sun. I slept late today because DH decided we could watch a movie that started at 11 pm and a couple of preachers we like after. I really like to get to bed at least by 1 am and it was 2. Then I was so wipekd out that I slept late. I just couldn't get up.

I think maybe the Calorie Myths book may be right. I ate 1287 calories yesterday and net carbs were 51 and my weight today was down to 182.2 back to where I was August 1st. Only problem is that my FBG was 104. I was hungry last night and ate and I don't really like that because it in the 90s. When I signed up for FitDay, they had my calories really high for my age, hieghth and reaching 150 by February. It is just so hard for me to get my head wrapped around that I guess because we have been taught differently.

I would like to think that hunger cleanses and detoxes you. Maybe that would give me an incentive to not eat when I do get hungry. Most of the time I can resist the hunger but last night it got so bad that I finally gave in and at a keto dark chocolate ice cream bar. So I stayed with low carb food, but I was outside my 6 hr eating window. But maybe I shouldn't worry about that. I think the think that saved me was going to bed an hour later. It tasted good although I was hungry for real milk chocolate not dark. However, it won't be a think I will do again because it didn't settle well with my stomach as I had a touch of heartburn later.

You know me I could eat protein, fruits and veggies with very little if any starchy carbs. In fact, I've been thinking about that. That was the thing I loved about WW except that I don't like eating fat free. I could do lowfat. Saying that we are having homemade CB today. I told DH that he is getting in the kitchen to help me make them, at least form his because he complains that I make them too think. He said he wasn't good in the kitchen but I think it is time he learn how. I need to teach him to be a Texan. Most Texas men cook so he can learn to be a helper. :lol:

My son and his wife called me yesterday and I as amazed that he talked to me for 3 hrs. She is the one ho works in insurance. She got me with the house insurance company I have now, but she said insurance is going up almost double this year so she wanted to look into it and see if she could get us a lower deal this year. They say they want to come see us if they can but like everyone else the economy isn't too favorable for that. He had talked to me on my birthday and felt so bad that he didn't remember it was because he never forgets

Well I need to get busy. I procrastinate on Saturday. I don't know why I dread doing the pills for the next week. I'm thankful for them but they just seem to be a chore.

Trish, I also went to bed at 2am. That is very unusual for me. I slept until 9:30.

I don't do low fat or high fat. I use reduced fat milk because that's what DH wants. I buy full fat milk for some recipes. I don't like fat free cheese. I just buy regular cheese. I don't like reduced fat soup. But I don't purposely add fat. Eggs have fat and salmon has fat. I don't pay any attention to fat grams, just calories and carbs for my blood sugar. I need to increase veggies to increase fiber. I am going back to drinking potato starch in water at bedtime. I read that it feeds good bacteria. I think that might be the cause of my potty issues.

Carol Sue, that is pretty much the way I like to eat too. FF cheese has no taste and I'm not sure it is even cheese. I've noticed if you read the labels that when they say fat free that it uses some sort of fat which always made me wonder what that is and if it is even healthy in the long run. I want to eat real food including meat. When I bought range free beef, I had to add olive oil just to get it to hold together. You need some healthy fats. DH even wanted higher fat ground beef for our cheeseburgers today.

I got up closer to 9:30 this morning too.

I am wondering if DH needs to take the potato starch be cause he can't get rid of the potty issues either. I think his is caused from metformin but FBG goes up when he tried to take one instead of two. Mine has gotten better, but now I just go more often but not bad ones. I will have to look up the info on the potato starch drinking.

I ordered the B1 to see if that helps me with energy. I read that you can't get too much because you pee out what you don't need. This is one of the reasons I think we might need some of the right kinds of starchy carbs like grains. I also read that on FitDay article the other day. :?:

My DIL buys all types of cheeses, not just the common ones, and always puts out cheese when she entertains along with other things. Even the crackers she puts out are unknown types. They have a store near them called The Big Barn that sells unusual things. It might be Amish. I decided to try some different cheese so I bought gouda but don't like it. I'm eating it rather than waste it. If I make a cheese sauce in the next week or so I will add it. She served mac and cheese which she said was my recipe but my recipe just says how many oz of cheese to use. I use boring Velveeta because that's what DH likes but I add some other cheeses when I have them. Hers was out of this world delicious. I wonder what cheese she used or maybe a combination.

Here is where I got my information about potato starch. I used it before but only for a short time but stopped because I didn't notice any weight loss. Now that I'm more interested in improving my gut health I'm trying it again. It says it feeds the good bugs in your colon. Yum yum. I never noticed any benefit from cooked and cooled potatoes. The potato starch in water has very little taste.

I take 850 mg of Metformin 3 times a day but I don't take all my pills. I rarely take any before dinner so I take 1 at dinner and 1 at bedtime. If I take it with breakfast or brunch I seem to get potty issues, but I'm not sure that is the cause. I definitely won't take it if I'm going out!

I used to use the pharmacy in Target so I bought a lot there. I opened a red card credit card because they offer 5% off whatever you buy. Now that I use Wal-Mart pharmacy we rarely go to Target. I buy my fish oil there and a few other things. My monthly bill is always way less than $100. Now they increased my credit limit to an ungodly amount! Whatever made them think I need that? The card can be used anywhere as a credit card but I have another one that I use regularly. I could really go on a spending spree!

Carol Sue, I'm like that with our Amazon membership. We took their card to get the subscription breaks but I have to really watch it because I could run the bill up so high. They make it too easy to order. My rule is to be able to pay it off each month.

1202 calories and 71 net carbs today. Probably not enough protein but that is okay. Now to make it without eating anything else.

Ok so the scale is becoming a nightmare. Today I'm up to 188.0. I got weighed at 7 instead of 9 or 10 but I cannot use that as an excuse. I am 2 lbs away from being 190 again. This proves to me that what they say about needing to eat more to lose is wrong. I eat more and I gain, not to mention that I ate the wrong foods.

I didn't feel like going to Texas Roadhouse on a Saturday. Its too crowded. We don't like to wait to be seated and DH wants to have a booth in the bar so he can watch tv. I ended up having a tuna salad sandwich. Then I ate fries and then potato chips and dip that DH brought home. So is it any wonder that my weight is up?

Trish, we make sure our credit card gets paid in full every month, too. The exception was when we bought a new TV so we paid it in 2 payments. This month we have car insurance and taxes due all at once so we can't buy anything.

I got on the scale again at 11 and after coffee and my first meal I weigh 187.8. Its only .2 but its always better to see a 7 than an 8 on the scale. But it's STILL TOO HIGH and its STILL MY FAULT!!

Carol Sue, I'm sure that gain is water gain and will go back down in a day or two. The sad thing that I don't like is it takes more days for it to come back down even if I stay on plan.

Today my plan is 1172 calories and net carbs 58. The key is to stay OP. Weight today was up .6 lbs so hopefully that is water weight not weight. However, I'm not exercising during the weekend trying to set up a routine of 5 days a week of exercises and off 2 days.

I had a little container of Greek yogurt with fruit and chia seeds added to it. We will have breakfast for dinner today in place of regular meal. I found some thin sliced beef in the freezer that I bought a while back and plan to turn into beef jerky and will have some of that for a snack later this evening in order to get my protein. I know I can't always do a strict low carb but do plan to keep the carbs down some.

You were wrong, Trish. Not water weight and not gone. I'm up to 189 this morning but that was also at 5 am. Maybe I should go back to taking the Benadryl again and falling back to sleep. I know I'm not well on plan but I didn't think I was that far off plan. I know what I should do but sometimes doing it is a different story. I hope I figure this out before I get too high!

A few weeks ago I stopped taking my Vit D3. I wanted to dee what would be different. Look at what I found online.

Carol Sue, My weight is up a lb today too. 183.8. Just not getting things together right. I did buy the kindle book you just read from the Canadian doctor. I can see some of what he is saying but not sure I could do it 100%. If some of the things he says is true about foods we think are better than others aren't it makes me wonder if what I've heard about dieting is true.

Anyway, I did like some of the info especially about how people used to eat only 1 or 2 meals a day. It reminds me of Rachel Heller's story and she ate whatever she wanted when she did OMAD. I used to do the same thing. It kind of sets you free if you don't really have to cut foods out unless you just choose to.

I know I'm eating one meal today however not sure if it will be only one meal since we will be going shopping tomorrow. I'm thinking about DH and me going out to eat for our steak tomorrow. Haven't talked to him about it yet. We used to go out to eat before shopping on Tuesday until the pandemic. Then we would just get takeout. I always felt like we were walking off our dinner because we were shopping after eating. FBG was 98 this morning which I am happy about.

Stayed up again too late last night but I did get up and do all my exercises for today. Now I am getting sleepy. I think the vibration is going to eventually work for my circulation because my legs feel so much better after using it. It just doesn't last for very long afterwards. I just read 10 min a day, but I wonder if it will help to do it twice or maybe it will just keep improving each day

I need a nap before I have to cook dinner. Have a great day everybody.
