Hey! Just spent the morning getting a pedicure and manicure with leg and arm massage. It feels soooo good! Also got a nice order from Clearwater Creek and found out that my investments have now recovered to where they were before the economic downturn. Life is good. I even have a gorgeous maple floor in my new room.
Any good stuff happening to you? |
Hi, all. Warm Weather here. Been having gastrointestinal pain the last few days. Can't eat or sleep. May call the doctor this afternoon. Sigh. Just when I'm taking a week off from work. BGl's have been high because I'm not taking all my meds.
Ruth - at least someone is having a good week. You must be relieved about your investments. I like Coldwater Creek but am too fat for their clothes. I get coupons once in awhile and give them to a friend. Hope someday I can use them myself. Rosey - Well, have a good week. I'll be off the computer until the 28th. |
Hi Folks I haven't been here for a few months. I started on Nutrisystem D and have been posting on their boards moist of the time. It has jump started my weight loss again. I actually thought I would drop by and check on meowee. I am really sorry to hear the news. She was a big part of the heart and soul of this board. RIP meeowee.
Best to all . I hope not to be such a starnger anymore |
Well, Meowee would want us to continue so.......
Nice to "see" you Arctic. I knew you were on Nutrisystem. How is it working for you? My BGL has actually improved. HA1C was 6.8 in May and is now down to 6.5 so I'm doing something right. My ticker isn't lying anymore. How is everyone else doing? I am off to Asheville NC tomorrow but will be back late Sunday night. Yes, I will eat properly! See y'all then. |

Hi, all. Still stunned by the sad news.
I had a rough week last week. My gastrointestinal problems continued way into mid-week. I couldn't eat much of anything so I did lose a few pounds. Will see a gastroenterologist next week. My bgl is doing better now that I'm back taking my meds regularly. Ruth - Glad to hear your A1c is lower. Hope you had a nice trip. Rosey - |
Rosey, how cold are you way up there? We are in for a cold and wet week and I can feel winter lurking. It must be creeping up on you. Rosetta, sure hope the doc can help your problem but I'm glad your BGL is stabilizing. Had a wonderful trip and lovely visit with the MODs although we were sad about Meowee's not being there. Maybe she was there in spirit. We ate mainly vegetarian the whole time and I came back two pounds lighter. Of course, not drinking my usual amount of wine helped! BGL ran a bit high but that was because vegetarian is higher carb than I'm used to. Back on track today. Have a serene Tuesday. |
Hi everyone..its cool and rainy here about 42*..and yesterday morning we had ice on the deck and cars..i had my well womens check up yesterday..everythings ok (glad thats over with) ive been referred to a dr in anchorage for the wt loss surgury its a process that i have now started im excited about it..mainly for mobility and health as nothing else has worked for me..the dr was pleased with my diabetes control so at least im doing something right.. I too miss meowee; theres an empty spot here but figure she would want us to carry on as usual..i wonder if her family knows how many of us where her friend and how she had helped us..hope u all have agreat day rosey
|
Rosey Hope your gastrointerology visit goes well. I hate not knowing what is going on!
Ruth The Nutrisystem D is going really well. It has definitely increased my rate of weight loss and I really like the food. I intersperse it with family foods and make a month last for 2 or more. I post on a board there for those over 50 with 100+ pounds to lose that I really relate to. Come visit some time. Anyone can visit and post. Also if you want to check any of the foods out I started by buying a few at Big Lots. It has really given me hope. I have lost twice as much weight the last 2 months with Nutresystem D than I lost in the previous year dieting! Any one feel free to PM me if you have any questions and/or if you decide to try it and want a coupon for $30 off. I go see my doctor tomorrow and am interested to see if my A1C or cholesterol has dropped since starting. Rosey Congrats for taking steps to chage your situation. I admire all of us for continuing to make efforts to improve opur health. Let us know how it all goes. Till next time Denise |
Rosey - sorry about your weather. We are in the midst of our warm weather season which lasts sometimes into November. Glad the WSL is coming along. Once you decide on something it's good to get on with it asap.
Active - Sounds like Nutrisystem is working for you. I have done several medically supervised fasts, and have lost quite a bit of weight, but because I have so much weight to lose, I get bogged down after a few months and fall off the wagon. I attend maintenance classes run by the program where I weigh in every week. It keeps me accountable, even when my weight is going up. |
Late check-in after a busy day. Woke to a 2.6 BGL this morning. :yikes: That's 46.8 USA. Had breakfast and recovered before I did my workout. I need to eat more at night, I guess. I had a really early and LC dinner and did not snack before bed. We live and learn but not quickly enough.
It's Alaska cold here today with rain and wind. I am NOT ready for this. Denise, Nutrisystem sounds interesting and I'm amazed you can get some of the foods at Big Lots. I looked at N. and at Medifast a few years ago but decided I'd stick with my own home made food. It sure would help with constant planning though, especially when one lives alone. Rosey, I am glad you got a referral for WLS. Having the Diabetes under control is a big plus for your being accepted. A friend of mine had RNY and is no longer on meds. Was that the type you are considering? Keep us posted. Rosetta, I really should go to WW or TOPS for a weekly weigh-in. It's just the half hour drive on dark country roads that holds me back. I am going to bundle up and go out to pick a mess of rainbow chard for dinner - along with protein, of course. Maybe eggs? Have a nice evening. |
Got My A1C and cholesterol results back. A1C was down .1 to 6.4 and cholesterol was down 40 points to 205. Still need to lower the over all and bad cholesterol. Going to make an appointment with the Diabetic Educator and talk to her about that.
Best Denise |
Hi, all. We're still having our warm autumn weather. Love it as long as it doesn't get above 70 degrees. My bgls have been good this week, although my eating is getting back to old habits. However, I've been going to a new prepared foods place which has healthy foods if you make the right choices. Very expensive though.
Ruth, like you, I live alone and it's hard to cook for one, especially when I work fulltime, so I'm queen of the takeout. Active - My cholesterol is in good control with a statin. Have you discussed this with your doc? Have a good weekend. |
I have diabetes type 1 and I don't know why but I have a much better and easier time here in the summer. I think the nice warm weather lifts my spirit up.
|
Morning everyone from rainy alaska at least its not snow..i got my a1c results and its 6.1 and colesteral was 187..:carrot: my doc was pleased..i have been working on xmas gifts..usually im done by now but am a bit slow this yr..hope you all have a great day  rosey
|
Akrosery, that's great! You must be as pleased as your doctor is. What are you making for Christmas gifts? I've not started yet but am collecting ideas.
|
Hi, all. Still sunny here. The Blue Angels are doing their practice runs over the city for Fleet Week. We're supposed to get rain next week. My bgl has come down some. Saw the gasterinterologist today and he has scheduled both an endoscopy and colonsocopy in a couple of weeks. I can handle the colonocopy (except for the prep, ick) but I'm a little apprehensive about the endoscopy since I don't like anything in my mouth. We'll see.
Rosey, congrats on your good med stats! Hope the rain clears up and the snow stays away. Ruth  Everybody, have a good weekend! |
Morning everyone..happy weekend..another very rainy day here and windy all the leaves are gone now..deff winter's around the corner..rosetta hope your tests go well..ruth the projects im working on are victorian painted enamel puffy heart charm bracelets..im learning to paint the charms..i have to use a magnifying glass to see what im doing..u can find some examples in e-bay..very pretty and challenging..the other is an afagan made from soft baby yarn, lilac and cream..fun fun..id rather work on my projects than do my chores :dizzy: hope i dont get company as my house needs a maid..i baked choc chip cookies for dh and didnt eat one :carrot: a major accomplishment..hoping your weekends great  rosey

A little victory snatched from the hands of fear
Cold and overcast (currently in Michigan)
Celebrating a small victory and wanting to crow about it... I was scared to death of my fork, petrified to be sure as I had a small bowl of Fiber one with 2% milk this morning and two and more hours later I was still Spiking 195 to 200.... I was freaking! scared to eat all day Had 1/2 a bowl of Wendy's chili for lunch and seemed to go ok.... Tonight before dinner it was back down to 105 - sigh of relief... But what about dinner???? What would I eat and would my body recover? Decided on the hearty caesar salad with the chz and even some bacon.. Topped with a sliced up polish sausage for some extra protein. 105 before and 2 hours later ......... 102 :carrot: I am so happy, 1 for the small victory, 2 for all of you !!! I wanted to tell someone and you all feel like family already .... Thanks - The Orange One |
Hi, where is everybody this week? We had a big storm on Tuesday, then overcast and muggy. Today heavy morning fog and now some sun. Never know what the weather is going to do. My bgl is okay, could be lower. I actually forgot to take it 3 days this week. Never done that before. Hope you are all doing well. Have a good weekend.
|
Yes, we are a bit "seldom" on posting in this thread and I have been very remiss. Haven't posted in here for nine days!
Nice to "see" see PSP Orange checking in. Yes, we are like family and a good place to share victories and problems. Please keep coming back. (It's cold here so I am sucking up to Florida folks! ) Rosetta, any word on the colonoscopy appointment? Last time I had one, I expected a major weightloss but actually went up from the salt in the darned IV so don't be disappointed. Rosey, I would never be able to paint tiny charms as you do. Right now I need a magnifying glass to thread my needles - even to thread the needle threader! My BGL is doing fine this week and the weight is very slowly going back down to ticker numbers ten days of water retention. It's so easy to go on and so hard to get off! I had a cold for a while which seemed to cause the problem. This week I've been very busy physically, working with my garden lady putting in a new raised flower bed. I was amazed at how well I was able to keep up to her as she's 40 and I'm 70. i think going to the gym is paying off. Time for the usual oatmeal breakfast with apple and cinnamon - my new fave. Then it's off to Church before doing some more gardening ....in my winter coat! Very cold here for mid-October but no snow yet. It usually holds off until mid-November but...... |
 rosey
|
Im just peachy..how are u all..have a fun weekend  rosey
|
Hi, all. We're having nice fall weather here. My favorite time of year. BGL is okay.
Ruth - I have my colonoscopy and endoscopy next Wednesday (assuming my insurance has approved it). Not looking forward to the prep. Have to take two days off work. It looks like between your gardening and gym workouts you are keeping in good shape. Rosey: Glad things are okay with you. Have a good weekend. |
Where is everyone?
|
Rosetta, this is a very inactive thread in a rather slow Forum. People seem to come in, ask their question and then go back to their particular diet area. I post daily on the South Beach thread.
Are you following a particular plan? AND how did the endo- and colono-scopes turn out? Any results yet? I'm still plugging along with 90 minutes at the gym three days a week and must say it is making a huge difference in how I feel and move although my weight's staying about the same. BGL is stable unless I do something dumb like forget to eat dinner or have and evening carb fest! |
Sorry i have been a lurker, dont mean to ignore uall..(((hugs))) rosey
|
 Hi Ladies ~ I come into this forum and post now and then; I didn't realize that it was a slower forum as there are so many of us that have either pre-Diabetes or FB Diabetes on this site, and the numbers are growing each day from what I hear.
I know this thread/forum was a bit more active when our dear friend MEOWEE (Linda) was here; sure miss that nice lady. This forum was her turf and she did a great job keeping everything going; she was all over the place. I have a fancy in my mind that she is still watching over us somehow. I have restarted her Canadian thread at the request of a few other Canadians and I hope that I can keep it up as well as she did. Anyways, I am still working on my plan to keep my sugar levels where they are supposed to be. Just got back from the dentist as I had to have a tooth extracted this AM. It all went well (for me); but my meds did help my tummy a lot. I think this forum is important for all of us who have health issues that we are dealing with along with our weight issues, so I am very grateful that it is here and I do spend a lot of time over here reading and offering encouragement when I can. Hope you all have a lovely day! :hug:ROSEBUD  |
Hi, All. Thanks for coming out of the woodwork. This thread has never been super busy, but I don't think it's ever been this quiet either. I lurk on a couple of other threads but don't post there because there are too many people to keep track of and since I only have computer access at work, I don't have too much time to post.
Anyway, the colonoscopy was very unpleasant (the one I had 6 years ago went smoothly). They removed a polyp for biopsy. The endoscopy, which I was dreading went easily, but provoked a horrid gastritis attack (which was the diagnosis) which lasted 3 days and I had to stay home from work on Thursday. They took tissue for biopsy to see what kind of gastritis I have. Will find out later this week. On the diabetes front, my bgls are normalizing and coming down after last week when I couldn't take any medication for several days. My problem now is that I've gotten out of the habit of taking my morning bgls and I forgot to do it this morning. Ruth - I don't follow any plan, just try to eat better. However, I'm going to discuss with the doctor what to eat to avoid gastritis and work with that. Rosebud, yes, we all miss Meowee (Linda) very much. Rosey - Have a good week. |
So....how did we all do over Halloween? My BGL was OK but the scale sure shows a gain today. My ticker is lying for a wee bit. I avoided all Halloween treats but it was a wild weekend with friends for lunch Saturday, friends in to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show Saturday night and then an impromptu wine and cheese event yesterday afternoon when we finally buried my darling dogs' ashes! Of course, champagne was involved for toasts and I served way too much, wine, cheese and fruit.
Anyhow back on track today and I'm hoping the gain is all water weight. I did my 90 minutes at the gym and did another three hours of outside work this afternoon. Raking and lugging snow tires is exercise, right? Rosetta, I hope the test results help to resolve the gastritis problem. Rosebud, nice to see you around. Where do you live by the way? I've forgotten. Yes, I miss Meowee - I keep checking out the special air fares to Halifax and then remember she's gone! Rosey, nice to see you checking in. Any word on your operation date? Time to cook a healthy supper - fresh chard from the garden as it's survived the latest frost. Tonight I have to power-read the rest of my book for Book Club tomorrow night as tomorrow will be too busy for reading. |
I fell off the face of 3fatchicks! I haven't been able to go through all the old postings but I hope all is well for all! Rosetta--I hope the test results come back with postive news! :) I'll send good vibes! What happened to good old Meowee?
I have been a very bad diabetic. My morning sugars have been runing anywhere from 130-155. I recently moved back home with the parents and have been job seraching. I'm trying to save for grad school but with out a job thats hard. I'll know by Friday if I have one job. Not having an income has really made it a challege to eat right because I dont have money for my kind of groceries. I'm also working on helping my mom understand she doesn't have to cook for me all the time! My biggest down fall has been exercising, I haven't been active at all. Ladies, I look forward to getting back on track and checking in more often! I hope the rest of your week goes well and I'll talk to you all soon. Moni |
Oh my goodness, let me first say how sorry I am to hear that Linda (meowee) is gone. I just read the post that she passed. She will be missed! My heart goes out to her family and friends.
|
Good luck with the job, Moni. Maybe you can take over some of the cooking from your Mom to get a bit more control. Exercise is sooo important. I find my gym sessions three times a week have made a huge difference in my BGL.

 HI LADIES ~ have had a harried few days -- had a tooth extracted early on Monday morning; he had problems so had to finish by drilling it out. Some pain, but nothing a tylenol couldn't handle; TOM came to visit and brought all his nasty relatives with him and didn't want to leave ... Sure didn't need that the same day. Been very tired, so taking it easier today. Did laundry yesterday and today, am hemming some new pants I picked up on Monday as well. DH has been very helpful though, and I am so grateful for that ...
RUTH ~ I was originally born in Orangeville, Ontario; went to school in and around Guelph; then came way up north to go to college in Timmins, Ontario (twice); liked it here, and decided to stay in the north. Now I live in a small neighbouring village near Timmins. Welcome Back, MONI ~ hope we can be an encouragement to you to help you get back on track again ... Time to start dinner, so take good care, and hope you all have a great evening! |
Ruth--thanks! I'm glad to say I've been hired and start orientation on Wed. I'm looking forward to having a routine and being active. This job is far more physical than my last...I'm hoping that will help kick start my exercise slump! Also, I'm trying to cook at least 3 times a week for the family and encourage more "every person for their own" night! :)
Justwant2b--oh no dental work is never fun! I hope you feel better soon. TOM is a disaster for me sometimes. Do you find it hard to fight off your cravings? Sometimes I become the bottomless pit, crave for all things fried and sweet. ugh thanks ladies for the support, I really appriciate it! |
:cheer: Moni on getting the job. Cooking double and freezing may be helpful for the first while.
Well, I was a dummy yesterday and woke to a crash this morning! I ate very low carb yesterday and managed to forget to eat supper as my drive to my meeting arrived early. I was very noble and resisted the sammies and other stuff after the meeting, came home, took my meds and went to bed. Woke to a 2.6 reading this morning - 46 something outside of Canada. :(! OJ and toast seem to have fixed me up. I need to be more careful. Duh! |
Hi, All. Our sunny fall weather has disappeared and we're expecting rain today. I'm still on daylight savings time in my sleep cycle so I'm waking up too early. As a consequence, I'm dragging more than usual. Heard from the doctor yesterday. The polyp was benigh so I don't have to have another colonoscopy for 5 years. He recommended some OTC meds for my gastritis, so I guess I'll have to live with that.
Moni - congratulations on getting your job. justwant2be - I hope you've recovered from your dental work. Having a tooth out is not a great way to start the week. Ruth - I don't think I've ever forgotten to eat supper. lol. If I don't eat the night before, my bgl tends to go up, not down. Lows are really scary though. |
The great thing about lows is that you can have OJ and toast with cheese to bring them backup! Glad to hear the polyp was benign.
|
Good Morning! Ladies, I"m happy to report that yesterday and this morning my sugars in 127 and 123. These are still a bit high BUT they are much prettier than the 155 I was pulling. This makes me very happy! My goal tonight is to go for a walk and keep these numbers looking better and better!
Ruth--lows are very scary and i've only had two lows....never forgot to eat though. I'm glad you got your sugar back up! Have a great day ladies! :) |
