Hey hey!

I haven't posted here in awhile... but I haven't forgotten about ya'll!

I've been doing wonderfully, so I don't have ALL that much to say. Isn't it funny how much more you can update someone with when you're being negative? See, I'm afraid that if I talk about how positive everything is going, I'll sound... pompous. Anyway... what's new... the girlfriend and I have decided that once our lease expires this summer, we're going to move near the beach! I'm really excited about this, since I love the beach, I can't wait to get out of this boring college town full of frat rats, and have no doubt in my mind that I will be able to rock my beach bod out!

Diabetes wise, I'm actually strongly thinking of getting an insulin pump once I get rid of the rest of my weight. I was pretty opposed at first, because I didn't like the idea of something attached to me (ESPECIALLY NOT to my FAT! ), but I think it would be much more convenient to just press buttons instead of take shots!

I also heard of something that you can stick anywhere on you and it will monitor your blood sugar 24/7. http://www.dexcom.com - it's a really small device and it transmits a signal to something that looks like a PDA. Anyone else ever heard of this? It looks kind of neat. And no more finger sticks would also be nice! Then, it would almost be like I didn't have diabetes anymore (Just kidding)

Just a quick check in to let you know I'm alive.

Haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread yet - I will later.

I've had the flu really unwell for a whole week... and couldn't bear to eat cold yogurt or raw veggies... so I had cookies and mac & cheese instead I couldn't exercise either, I was so week and out of it.... then I had 2 thanksgiving dinners in a row, with dessert... so I'm afraid to weigh in on Saturday - I have NO IDEA where I'm at.

Anyway feeling a bit better today, I'll be back later to read through - hope everyone is A-OK

Good to hear from you SHANE and glad to hear things are going so well for you . . .

About those continuous monitors . . . think they are going to be great in another version or two or three . . . right now they are pretty pricey and not covered by all insurers and need a fair amount of attention to keep them accurate (so not quite freedom from finger pricks yet). Perhaps if you contact the manufacturer you could get yourself in on the ground floor as a tester for a new model.

Here's the article . . . http://www.diabeticlivingdiet.com/pu...rime-Time.aspx

Okay gang . . . now for me . . . Sorry I was missing yesterday, but here's the story . . . I have good news and bad news . . . let's start with the good . . .

Had a doctor's appointment first thing in the morning yesterday. Went in expecting to be yelled at for cancelling my hysterectomy and for stopping my insulin. Amazingly enough, HE AGREED WITH BOTH. He wants to do more regular pap tests (oh joy) to keep an eye on Fibbie McGee, mind you. And he is not terribly happy with my most recent BGL numbers -- 7.7 (139) this mornijng -- neither am I, of course. We've increased my Metformin back to maximum dose again and will see how that works out. For the moment, I'm free of insulin needles (at least for the next quarter) Soooo, I'm not afraid to go to sleep anymore. Can't get too excited though, because now I've really got to be more careful of how I'm eating.

And that brings us to the bad news . . .

Bumped into a couple of old friends at the doctor's office and they kidnapped me and tied me up and force fed me both lunch and dinner before releasing me again . . . I stopped counting when I got to 2500 calories. This is not the way to get good BGL control. Definitely climbing back on the wagon today.

Hope everybody has a great moving and shaking kind of day planned. See you all later . . .

Wow! what did you eat?... tell me everything! I need details

Glad that you are needle free for now and your Doctor agreed with your decisions

Several "dessert-menu-items" were involved. Things combining the words "chocolate" "cheesecake" . . . doesn't take long, unfortunately. I feel really yucky today. Wonder why . . .

Last week when I was eating those big meals I felt awful afterwards (which stupidly did not prevent me from doing it day after day) but it's like our bodies just can't handle it anymore. I felt heavy and sluggish for a few days afterwards, actually today is the best I've felt all week. I don't think I gained anything but I KNOW I didn't lose!

It feels good to be on track again but I hate that I keep having these slip ups.

That was really nice of your friends to kidnap you though and treat you to lunch/dinner.

I forgot you were in Alaska, Rosey.... I went on an Alaskan cruise a few years ago - we went to Ketchikan, Skagway, Juneau, Wrangell and somewhere else that I can't remember! It was August and so hot, 80degrees every day, it was like a Caribbean cruise and I didn't wear any of the sweaters/jackets I brought.. in fact I kept wearing the same summer dress over and over because it was the only thing I had!

Wish me luck tomorrow... please! I have a weigh in at the Dietitians and this hasn't been a great month.

Good Morning . . .

THIN . . . for you. It's so hard to maintain the momentum all the time . . . boy do I ever know that . . . you've already done so well, Chickie and I know you'll be right back in the groove again soon.

ROSEY . . . snow, please. We always seem to get at least one little snowfall before Halloween. It doesn't stick, mind you, but I'm hoping this year will be different and it won't even show up at all.

Guess I'm still flushing that wonderful/horrible Thursday out of my system and it isn't easy without the insulin injections. Takes longer for things to change with just the Metformin in the mix. BGL was a nasty 7.9 (142) again this morning. So far brekkie was strawberries with HF cereal and skim milk, and, of course, my 2 coffees with half/half. Once I finish with my morning 3FC rounds, I'll go do a few minutes with Gadzella and see how the BGL looks before lunch.

Nothing too exciting lined up for me today. I feel like a shrimp stir fry for later and need to get some garlic and cabbage so will probably hit the grocery store. Other than that . . . a little crocheting and, of course, cleaning kitty litter (as always ). My world is so full of fun stuff.

Hope you all have great moving and shaking stuff planned . . . See you soon . . .
