Hi Rosey . . .

Have to admit, if I forget any meds, I just skip them and stick to my regular schedule . . . but, having said that, I feel compelled to add that most drug information that you receive from your pharmacy contains guidelines for just such an event. So . . . you might want to give the pharmacist a call.

BTW . . . was this something new about Actos / Avandia? I know that Avandia has been on the 'iffy' list because of heart related problems for quite a long time now, but have not heard anything new about it or anything about Actos -- which I do take. Just finished reviewing the latest Health Canada Advisories since first reading your post and I find nothing new posted in there. Have you taken a look at the US - FDA site? I don't have an automatic link to it, but shall go and see if I can track one down.

Back later . . .

Hi again . . .

Here's the original warning from FDA about AVANDIA dated May 21 . . . http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2007/NEW01636.html

And here's an August 14 notice about stronger labelling for both AVANDIA and ACTOS although ACTOS was not included in the initial warning . . . http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2007/NEW01683.html

As mentioned above, I find nothing more recent and nothing from Health Canada . . . If you find anything more recent in your travels, let us know.

Hi everyone.. got back from errands and the dh and crew where just getting home.. they looked like drowned rats in the pouring rain with big grins on their faces.. i have pictures and could post them but am asking how this group feels about hunting pictures in general..dont want to offend anyone or their beliefs..but it sure was a big moose..let me know if you would like to see it?? the avandia and actos meds where mentioned on the cbs morning show today in their health segment and suggested if u do take them to talk to your dr as evidence shows they do cause heart troubles.. meowee i waited till late today to take my meds.. the one i was concerned about is the b/p meds.. altho my sl where slightly higher in the 130's than normal but didnt want an elevated b/p to so i took it and it was fine.. so i stayed on my usual routine.. so strange for me to forget as that hardly ever do that well must get busy and pack up for a trip to the sil house tomorrow.. i will be absent from posting for a few days..((((hugs)))) rosey

We are allowed 3 bags a week, I always have extra... my neighbours must think I'm weird - they have like one little kitchen size white bag, and I have 6 honking extra large green ones. I wait until after dark and then I add my extra bags in front of all the houses with 1 or 2 LOL

Hi Rosey! I just take mine right away (when I remember) and then adjust my med times until I get back on track.

THIN -- Just in case Monet doesn't get a chance to stop in -- For Canuks, unfortuntely Byetta can do nothing, because it is not available in Canada.

It's an injectible that is derived from the saliva of the Gila Monster (no kidding) and it is used for BGL control. The beauty of it is that it not only doesn't encourage weight gain like so many diabetes meds, it promotes weight loss. In fact in Europe it is used as a weight loss drug.

Just popping in to post this little link to an article in Everyday Health . . . this must be the report that Rosey was mentioning yesterday . . . wonder when the FDA and Health Canada will wake up to it ????

http://www.everydayhealth.com/public...202%20Diabetes

From the sounds of things it was not exactly a big test from the Actos point of view and it was actually funded by the manufacturer of Actos which always makes the results a little questionable. Once again Avandia suffers the brunt of the attack.

Bottom line . . . if you take EITHER . . . you are probably wise to discuss it with your doctor at your next appointment -- I intend to do just that -- but nothing here is new enough to warrant a panic (just my opinion, of course.)

Hi . . .

Didn't sleep all that well again last night -- don't know why. BGL was 3.9 (70) first thing this morning which is a little lower than I'd like it. Oh well . . . wouldn't it be wonderful it we could just sit at about 5.5 (99-100) at all times and never have to worry about it again. Take off the rose-coloured glasses, Linda -- it ain't gonna happen.

Went to the kitchen to get a refill and found the freezer door open and Purrecious poking around inside. Not a fluke either, because after I removed her and made sure the door was closed, she simply popped it open again. She has also figured out how to pull open the folding closet doors, by wedging her paw under then right about the middle where they fold outward when they open -- there's seems to be no end to this girl's talents. Then, when I came up here, I couldn't figure out what the funny little noise was or where it was coming from -- until I found Frack curled up in a little storage box on the top shelf (right up at ceiling level) of the wall unit above my desk. Not even sure how she got there. And having pets is supposed to lower our blood pressure.

Fall is definitely in the air -- the birds are flocking -- driving the cats absolutely insane, of course. It is a lovely sunny and coolish day. High of 18 (low 60's) predicted. Just my favourite kind of weather. No signs of color change on the trees in my yard yet, but imagine there soon will be.

My friend and I have another lunch and shopping tour planned for this afternoon. Hope you all have a great day, too . . . see you soon . . .

Hi All! Sorry I've been MIA lately. Things have been so hectic with Sacha recovering from his blockage. I was so stressed waiting for him to get better and running back and forth to the vets and the much money borrowed from Darling Mother to pay for the vet bills. AAGH!

But things have gotten better. Sacha looks great and is back to his normal self. He will be on meds for the rest of his life but that's a small price to pay for my little one.

My sugar has been good. I'm going back to the Dr in October so I'll have a better reading. I prefer to have the lab results than test my sugar everyday - I know, that's not good, but I really can't be bothered. I pretty much eat the same amounts of starchs, meats, and fats everday so my sugar is usually the same.

Hi . . .

Feeling kind of crummy today . . . ache all over and have a bit of a sore throat . . . the weather is looking a lot better than I'm feeling. BGL is okay at 5.1 (92) at breakfast time so at least I'm thankful for that.

BTW . . . the freezer door now has a really 'spiffy' addition -- a wide strip of masking tape to hold it closed. Purrecious hasn't figured out how to get it off -- yet. She is trying though.

Hope everybody else has a good day . . .

Hi everyone,

Meowee, hope you are feeling better this afternoon. Wow those cats of yours are mischevious little devils, well at least life is not boring in your house!

Tomorrow is my weigh in at the dietitian - wish me luck. Afterwards I'm ordering Swiss Chalet (LOL) do you have them in NS?

My Dietitian is going on holidays for a month - so I'll be on my own for 4 weeks. yikes!

Good Morning --

We "yummy" well do have Swiss Chalet down here, THIN. Hope the weigh-in goes well and the chicken does too.

It's raining buckets today . . . That's okay with me since I still don't feel too great anyway. Guess I'll have a stay-at-home-and-do-nothing kind of day. Might do some laundry if I can work up the energy. BGL was okay at 5.3 (95).

I'm out of fresh blueberries again and the local price has mysteriously doubled since the beginning of the week so I think they will be staying in the store. Had protein pancakes made with strawberries for breakfast and while they were pretty good, there was no comparison to the bb's. Guess I'll have to try them with frozen; but will wait until the memory of the 'real-thing' starts to fade away.

Here's a little information article for your reading this morning . . . http://www.everydayhealth.com/public...e4fd46fce&p=24 . . . definitely a new fact for me. Glad I like eating real fish, anyway.

And . . . speaking of fish . . . ever wonder why we say someone "drinks like a fish"? Fish actually don't drink water. They swim with their mouths open and appear to be drinking constantly but all the water they take in passes over their gills to provide them with oxygen.

Hope everybody has lots of great plans for today . . . see you all later . . .

Hi Meowee, blueberries can be pricey sometimes, but the store is nuts to double the cost.

I'm going to be having this tonight except with a wholewheat roll and a plain baked potato.

Now if you want to be really, really good -- have double chicken (no skin), skip the roll altogether and have side salad instead of the potato -- might as well stay home, you say.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing! Actually, I couldn't, too much food and I threw half of it away (well, after the cats got their fair share).

I'm not used to eating like that anymore, and although it was good going down, now I feel full and icky.

Now for the good news!!!!!!!!!! I'm in the 160's baby!

well 169.50 but still it's pretty cool. I lost 5.5 pounds since my last weigh in and 45.5 overall.

My dietitian is going on holidays and I am on my own for a month! Next weigh in is October 13th, I'm a little nervous, I really count on her for my check ins and for her pep talks and support.
