ROSEY: Yes! You did mention once your dad was a potter, and also once when some of his work was being sold on ebay. I went and looked at it. It was nice stuff! Enjoy your testosterone free time!
Very happy to say that our horribly sticky heat wave appears to have been a one-day affair. Seems quite normal and pleasant this morning. Additionally, the good old Fall Fair will wind-up today and then my little neighbourhood will be back to normal and pleasant (and quiet) again, too.
Slept pretty well last night with the A/C drowning out most of the fair noises as well as keeping the house feeling fairly pleasant. My BGL was happy this morning also at a nice sane 5.3 (95). Hope that manages to continue throughout the rest of the day, too.
Gosh, MONET . . . I think your pottery is gorgeous and I can't understand why it doesn't fly right off the shelf. Maybe things will get busy for you as Christmas approaches.
Hope your weather is better, too ROSEY . . . definitely enjoy the weekend without the men-folk underfoot.
Sorry you and DH are arguing THIN . . . men just never understand these things, but it would be nice if you could get a start-date for the basement out of him.
And . . . here's a little FFFF too . . . at one time, French Kings were constantly fearful of being poisened by their cooks so it was vital that their food was prepared by a trusted member of the royal househould. When a chef had proved is loyalty and cooking abilities he was rewarded with a 'toque-blanche', the pleats of which represented the vertical bars of the monarchs golden crown . . . so now you know why chefs wear tall white hats.
Have a great day doing lots and lots of good stuff, gang . . . see you soon . . .
Morning everyone.. raining and cold here.. my men folks have left..im sure their trip in wont be easy..lots of mud and swamps to go thru..monet i agree with meowee thats gorgeus pottery.. u are very talanted..meowee glad the weather has improved and u are feeling better.. my sl was 84 this am which is lo for me..so had afew extra carbs for breakfast and im feeling alot better not yucky like when i got up..whatever every ones doing today hope its fun..((((hugs))) rosey
Wow . . . it's Monday . . . and it's a gorgeous day around here. Sunny and relatively cool -- just the way I like it. BGL was a happy 5.3 (95) again this morning.
Here's a little FFFF for you . . .
The Romans called salmon "salmo" which means "leaper". But salmon was a staple food well before Roman times . . . about 10,000 years ago, a caveman carved a picture of a leaping salmon on a raindeer bone.
Salmon is actually leaps and bounds above other sources of protein, It contains all the essential amino acids, it's high in calcium and omega-3 fatty acids; it's low in saturated fat and calories.
Morning everyone..well the best plans can go amuck the dh is back with a vehicle breakdown(hes hopping mad) the sil and grs went on to the cabin and my dh is trying to fix his 6 wheeler so he can join them..im staying out of his way on a better note my sl was 104 this am and im still working on the xmas stuff..meowee.. its funny that i can have salmon when ever i want.. we can catch all we need but i dont like it..ive canned smoked and froze it for so many years that i really prefer tuna when we first moved here my dh just fished to much and i got sick of taking care of it and eating it.. altho he could bring me lots of halibit as i could eat that everyother day almost.. but i suppose "to much of a good thing" like the salmon would get to me after awhile..i do enjoy the first fresh salmon steak on the grill every year tho but after that"yuK"..i know its good for us tho and i luv the info's u give us..hope u all are having agreat day (((hugs))) rosey
Tuna is a great food, too . . . Have to admit I tend to eat more canned tuna than fresh by a long shot . . . funny, since I don't like canned salmon much and hardly ever eat it. I eat fresh (well, frozen) salmon at least three times a week.
Good day all !! just a fast drive tho to say hi and hope all is well with everyone today,,bs was 88 this morning,,been staying on ww today,,feel pretty good,,work on Tues,-friday this week and off for a week vacation with hubby,,am looking forward to that ,going to the beach hopefully,,,keep on smilen,,,later Jeanne
Didn't sleep very well last night and the fact that it is raining (and supposed to continue raining for the rest of today and tomorrow) is definitely not helping to alleviate my sluggish feelings this morning. At least the BGL was cooperative -- 4.7 (85) at breakfast time.
Not too much in my plans for today. Started crocheting a new afghan -- four colours . . . beige, orange, green, brown -- BUT -- the colours are actually named . . . honey, carrot, thyme, coffee -- can't seem to get away from food-stuff no matter how hard you try. Hey; at least they aren't exactly fattening trigger foods. At least they aren't called -- cheesecake, peach pie, mint icecream, and chololate brownie
Here's a little FFFF for this morning, too . . . MacDonalds sprinkles a total of 2,500 tons of sesame seeds on its buns over the course of a year . . . saddest part is . . . those sesame seeds are probably one of the healthiest things they serve.
Hope you all have a great day gang . . . see you later . . .
Good morning all,,,Meowee afghan sounds pretty,,I used to do it years ago,,would have to learn again now its been so long,,but did enjoy it when I did it,,
bs was 83 this morning,,also got on the scale,,I HATE IT !!,,can't seem to get the stupid thing to move and is making me nuts,,I really don't believe the byetta is doing a thing for me anymore,,except making me broke each month ?,,,going to talk to the doctor when I go,,anyway besides that all is good here work today,,,i hope you all have a fabulous day,,,leaves are starting to turn here so fall is here,,,no matter what the calander says,,ha,,take care all,,,,Jeanne
Good Morning another nice day but cold this am frost on the grass when i let the dogs out brrrrr winter is coming and the leaves are changing fast..the dh got his 6 wheeler fixed yesterday(not to expensive) and hes on his way back to the cabin..the sil called (arn't cell phones handy) just as dh was leaving and said he got a huge bull moose this morning.. he was so excited so in the next few days they will be back and we all will be processing that big critter..and thats lots of work..anyways back to memy sl was 78 this morning never been that low but i feel fine..meowee that afagan sounds scrumptous..i worked on the xmas ornaments for one of my dd b-day gifts.. she likes to cook and they are called santa chef (felt and sequins Bucilla kit) i wanted to make each of my kids a set for their tree..nothing else on my agenda..hope u all are having a great fall day (((hugs))) rosey
Jeanne . . . that is a real shame about the Byetta . . . you are not the first person on here to make that comment . . . don't know whether different batches are different strengths or your body just gets used to it. I'm sure I remember Monet mentioning that some of her pens just didn't seem to have the same 'oomph' as others.
I've only had Moose once and I quite liked it, Rosey . . . so you'll all have lots of good eating out of that big guy eventually. BTW, I couldn't get the strip border to work right on the new afghan (one of those 'mile-a-minute' patterns so I've put it aside and gone back to another one (of the total of four) I've also got on the go at the moment. And, know what, it's all one colour -- called Mocha. OMG, everything in the world will soon be named after food items.
Well, guess I'd better go get dinner on the floor for the felines. I stepped on Frick's paw this afternoon and she's been giving me dirty looks ever since so maybe dinner will soothe her feelings -- can't say that I blame her (I wouldn't want to be stepped on by something more than twenty times bigger than me, either); but maybe she'll stay out from under foot now.
Cool in Toronto tonight, maybe autumn is here? the leaves are starting to cahnge and everything.
I've been getting lazy at checking my BG again. It's been a stressful week for me.
I almost lost it tonight and ate bad stuff, but I stopped myself, reminded myself that I had a weigh in on Saturday (LOL) and ended up eating a whole red pepper/2 celery stalks and an apple.
Hope everyone has a nice, no-stress evening.

. . . Oh wow THIN . . . how can you look yourself in the mirror after that horrible late-night binge . . . sure wish all my 'bad' times were that 'good' . . . Great work, girl . . .
Anyway . . . Good Morning Everybody . . .
Our weather isn't sure what it's going to do today as far as sunny or rainy is concerned. It has definitely decided on being windy and very, very humid. Hey, at least I know Ontario will be shipping some cooler stuff my way, really soon.
I got a bit of extra exercise this morning. We only get garbage pickup every second week, so I usually have a fair amount to lug to the curb anyway, but today I also had an extra eight big, heavy bags of yard waste to put out. I was sweating buckets by the time I finished.
Also proved the value of a little extra exercise in the BGL department too. At 7:30, my BGL was 6.6 (119) -- so, I had two cups of coffee with cream, did a couple of other early morning chores (feeding the cats, clearing up some leftover dishes, etcetera) and then did the aforementioned garbage thing. At 8:30 when I sat down to have my HF cereal with banana and skim milk, my BGL was 4.7 (85)
Also glad to report that I've caught up to my ticker again -- well, guess that should be "caught down to". Hopefully everything will be 'downhill' from here.
Thin's healthy vegetable binge reminded my of this little FFFF . . . sad, but true . . . French Fries account for a whopping 25% of all vegetables consumed in North America . . . and we wonder why we've got an obesity epidemic.
Have a great moving and shaking kind of day gang . . . see you soon . . .
Hello to all my 'sweet' friends! Not much going on here. I should be down in the garagio working, but I am procrastinating instead. I spent an hour or so playing with my grandson, and now I am messing around online. Sigh.
JEANNE: I hear ya! I lost six pounds the first month I took Byetta, then three the next, then the weight loss stopped, and I am back to struggling to keep from gaining. I don't know if I should blame the Byetta for my ups and downs of blood sugar levels, or my eating habits which are not always very pure. I think I have about given up. I am pretty sure a lot of it comes from the changes the stupid doctor made in my thyroid meds. I just don't have any energy, and it is hard to overcome. I wonder if going off the Byetta for a few months would help. If you find anything out, pass the info on, ok?
Morning everyone..i have been up early.. its raining buckets as i type my sl was 134 this am which puzzled me.. then i realized i had not taken my meds last night so my question is ? if u forget your meds when do u take them.. do u wait for the normal time or do u take them right away(and maybe mess up your schedule) i opted to wait but take them later this afternoon, as my usual time is after dinner about 6 pm.. wondered how u all handle this as i cant be the only"forgetful" person here also on the morning news they where talking about the drugs actos and avandia causing heart problems.. did any of use see it? they suggested u talk to your dr if u are on those meds..the dh called last night and they are coming back with the moose today and then we will head for sil place tomorrow and process it.. its alot of work but well worth it..so i have been catching up on dishes, laundry etc. i tend to be a little lazy when the dh is gone.. anyways must get the lead out of my"butt" ttfn have agreat day rosey
