In my part of the world, July brings peaches and melons, both helpful foods for weight loss. What summer produce are you looking forward to?.
Join the July Weight Loss Challenge to set your goal, track it, and meet it -- with the help of a supportive and encouraging group. All the goals will be compiled into a list. As each goal is met during the month, it gets turned RED in celebration.
I’m back from my trip and ready to get focused. I have a few birthday celebrations & other events this month so starting with a smaller goal 🤞
SW: 190.2
GW: 188.2 (-2lbs)
I made my 1 pound goal in June and even lost an extra .2 so I was 151.0 on 6/30 and today on July it's back to 152.0!! I know it varies from day to day...at least I feel good knowing the uptick isn't due to overeating. I know our body weight varies due to how much sodium, fiber, etc...our bodies are processing on any given day and this is normal. With that said, my goal is once again one pound.
Given how bouncy my scale readings have been, I don't expect today's number to stick, but it's always fun to see a number that I haven't seen for years.
Congrats on your great weight loss in June, Xerai!! I have read that we should aim to lose no more than 1% body weight a week. At 300 that would be 3 pounds a week, so 20 may have been really too much anyway. You want it to be sustainable. Trust me, I know!! I started at 264 four years ago. The past year I have basically been in maintenance. I would like to lose a bit more, but honestly if I don't, I am going to make sure I keep the weight down. I see pictures of myself now at the bigger weight and cringe. I wish I had done this years ago! Keep up the good work.
gardenerjoy It is a great feeling to see a new low number! Good job! I have to admit I didn't know the conversion rate of pounds to kilograms and had to use an online calculator to see what it was. LOL
loganandlivsmom: I use an online calculator to convert kilograms to pounds, too! My husband put the scale in metric for some reason. I left it that way because I have less of an emotional attachment to weights in kilograms than in pounds. It's weird, but anything that helps!
I have officially lost more than the one pound I wanted to lose this month. It will be great if I keep it off or even lose more. I will keep trying! gardenerjoy I understand! Whatever helps or works for you is what matters.
I am on the east coast of the US and we are having a crazy heat wave. The heat index has been in the 100's! Maybe I will sweat off an extra pound. LOL
Good luck everyone!
Gardenerjoy, can you please add me to the challenge. June was a bit of a wash for me. I am experiencing a lot of pain with my hip and not able to do a lot of activity. I may have to wait a year until I can get my hip replacement as the wait list for surgery is very long. If I can lose another 10 or so pounds it will take more pressure off my hip and hopefully less pain. I read somewhere that for every excess pound on your body, it adds 3 lbs of pressure on your joints. If I can lose another 10 lbs then it should reduce the pressure on my hip by 30 lbs which should really help.
My goal for the remainder of July is to lose 3 lbs.

GW: 149.4
Welcome, flower1! Reducing pressure on your joints is a great reason to lose weight.
Congratulations, logandlivsmom and me for meeting the July goal early in the month! I'm going to set a bonus goal. logandlivsmom, do you want to set a bonus goal, too?
