Thanks for starting the new thread gardenerjoy. I'm in, of course

So I was really optimistic for September, and it turned out to be sort of a dud. I was hoping for 5 pounds, instead, it looks like I'm going to end up with only about 1 pound. But my pattern is to stall and whoosh and I'm due for a whoosh. So I'm going to be optimistic again and go for marking off my next 3 minigoals, which would be about 4 pounds from where I'm at today.

I'm here, hello, I got this! It's October, Autumn is around the corner (despite this week being still summer temperatures, grrrr) but I don't care anymore because I'm gonna drag my a$$ out on a run three times a week, no more excuses. My goal is to the lost 4 lbs this month, however, I would love to reach 185 lbs and meet my ticker goal of being firmly in the 180's by Halloween.

Since I'll be working from home a few days a week now I'll have more time to post here, huzzah! October's weighing in has begun for me, my starting weight is 193.1 lbs. I've been holding on to a similar number since I restarted a few months ago, hoping that this is finally the month where I get to see the 180's again! Tomorrow I'll be starting the C25K program, for the first time using my phone instead of scribbling the intervals on my hand. :lol:

Since one side of my family is overweight and doesn't care and the other is in normal range, but makes comments when they gain half a pound, there is nobody in my own personal life that understands the struggle. :hug: So while I apologize for being cheesy, thank you. :)

Wednesday weigh-in updates...yay! Today I'm at 149.4, which does make me feel 'officially' out of the 150s, although I'm aware an all-in day could change that haha! I am a pound heavier than what my weigh-in was late last week (148.5 last Friday), but it's alright since last Wednesday, I was at 150.0! :carrot:

On my meal prep weekend, I didn't prep for myself though! :( We ended up lacking room in the fridge because my grandma, for whatever reason, has SOOO MUCH FOOD this week. I'm more so eating based on convenience this week, and it really makes me understand the importance of meal prep; this ish is hard! :lol: Luckily I did still have some leftovers for yesterday's lunch, so now it's just to scrounge around to finish out the week.

sgregg 10-03-2019 07:17 AM

Good morning. I found out Monday that I am indeed pregnant, so the weight loss will have to wait until sometime next summer. So, I hope to catch up with you all then.

Well, I was late to the end of the September thread because I've been working nonstop, pretty much, but I did make my goal!

My goal for October is 174.8, so that's about 8.6 lbs to go. I think I can do it if I focus! I'm real tired of feeling so heavy and achy.

I figured I'd break it down by Saturdays because those are the last day of the week for me (both with weight and with work, not that I don't work Sundays, too, though).

Riestrella - Man, I wish I could run at this weight. But I have an old knee injury that gets SO BAD when I run (tried that once, quit real fast). I used to run when I was in my 20s and loved it. I'm hoping that if I get to my goal it'll be not too much weight and I can maybe run again (I'll talk to my doctor about it when I get there). But right now I can walk long distances fine, but the weight when I run is killer, and I don't wanna hurt my knee worse.

Atarimae, you're doing awesome! Very inspiring! Also, you live in Hawaii? I'm very jealous - I've always wanted to live somewhere warm (it gets to lik2 -50 F in the winter here). I'm also not looking forward to the cold intolerance as I get smaller...

Mara - Nice to meet you!

sgregg - congrats! We'll see you in the summer!

Does anyone else have the issue where their browser logs them out of 3FC really fast? Like if I sit for 2 minutes reading a page, I'm logged out by the time I get to the bottom of it, so when I go to the next page I have to log back in again. It's kind of irritating, and I don't know if it's my computer or the site

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
Tuesday morning arrived, the day I was going to start my C25K training, but my period decided to hit me full force in the womb. Uggghhh. Perfect timing as per usual. I skipped the run on Tuesday and generally felt bad about it, but I really did feel run down, crampy, the works. You know the drill. I want to catch up on my runs this weekend, so today was my new first day of C25K training, huzzah! It was a 30 minute run with plenty of walking to ease me into it. I was doing fine at the beginning, but towards interval 6 of 8 I was really starting to feel the weakness in my legs. However, I looove the app, it's made such a difference! I used to write the intervals on my hand so I would constantly have to keep looking at my watch and the back of my hand to keep track of my runs :lol: Life is so much easier with a robot lady in my ear telling me what to do. Technology win!
My weight has been in the low 190's with my average for the week so far being 192.4 lbs. I'm sure my weight will stall a little, potentially going up, while I get back on it with exercise. However it would be nice to start seeing some sneak peeks at the 180's sometime soon! Feeling hopeful :)
Mara - Hello, welcome back!! How've you been? I'm trying the route of not running challenges this year since they always put too much pressure on me to succeed, which ultimately leads to self-sabotage, so you'll find me lurking in these monthly threads.
Keala - Hmm, I'm not sure what type of injury you have, but I also had a bad knee injury that had me limping for several months. I got the works done to see what was wrong: x-ray, MRI, multiple prodding and poking. Turns out that I have a weak IT band, the muscle that runs along the side of the thigh. I started doing yoga and barre (when I could afford it) and really focusing on exercises that strengthened that pesky group of muscles. Over time and with the right low impact strengthening/stretching, I'm able to run again. I have to be careful to stretch, to make sure I'm using my hips (if I don't it puts all the weight on my knees) but I'm able to move like I want to.
No, I have no problems with the website logging me off, do you have cookies enabled? Perhaps you have some setting in the browser? What browser are you using?
sgregg - Holy cr@p, congrats! See you next year!!
Atarimae - Meal planning/prepping is such a b!tch sometimes! It can really make or break a week for me. I'm usually always last minute with it and don't plan for salads like I should. I hope you get get securely in the 140's this month!!
Mara 10-04-2019 11:58 AM
Riestrella: I've been good, except for the going up on the scale. LOL I'm sure overseeing challenges can be stressful! If I remember correctly, some troll hacked one of the spreadsheets and wasn't very nice. That was frustrating for sure.
Atarimae 10-04-2019 12:43 PM
Thanks Keala and Mara!
Wow, congrats sgregg!! Do you plan to do low carb/keto during your pregnancy? Or will it be more intuitive? :)
Rie ~ Yay for robot lady! :lol: I've NEVER been a runner, though I have to admit I've always hesitantly wanted to try doing C25K. Is there a specific app you use? AND GIRL YES. Although normally I'm really good about meal prep...it's just that I meal prepped for my grandma and hubby (who both are not low carb) before myself, and then I ran out of fridge space. This week, I will selfishly be all, "My turn!" :lol:
Welp, I was at 151.1 this morning. This entire week was literally a V. High, drop, drop, higher, high. I suspect it's partly due to my convenience eating...especially since the prepackaged convenience foods are sodium rich and less filling than whole food options. I've also been snacking a little more, which is not a norm. Sigh, way to go sabotaging myself! Haha.
Anyway, we have another larger birthday dinner for my cousin (this one is at their house, including her friends) tomorrow, and they said the theme is Mexican. I am fairly certain I'll be off-plan, at least main course wise. I'll try to skip the sugars at least! And despite today being FriYAY, I do intend to remain on plan, so there's that.
Been busy the last few days, time to catch up on personals.
sgregg: Wow, congratulations. We'll see you back here next summer.
Atarimae: I hate V weeks. It's like you scale is mocking you, getting your hopes up, only to dash them on the ground. But once you've seen that low number once, it is bound to show up again as long as you keep working on it.
Mara: Welcome back. Look forward to seeing more from you
Rie: C25K is a really good program even without the app. I bet the app would be so much better. I did it once and got through to week 6 before I stopped. I found that I didn't really like running, whereas I do like walking. So I went back to just walking. I might pick it back up again at some point, but I'm just not really a runner.
Keala: I don't have that problem with my laptop, but I do with my desktop. Never have figured out why, so I just use my laptop. Sorry, that isn't much help, but you aren't alone, at least. Maybe try a different browser. Way to go making your September goal.
I'd like to say that my gain this morning was purely due to me starting running again, however last night I had a big ol' burger at a bar. Oh well! It was tasty and I had a good time with friends. A small victory would be that I had one iced tea and didn't opt to drink more sugary drinks and stuck with water. Usually when I'm out I tend to overdo it with sodas and the such, so I was happy with myself that I held back in that area! I just need to keep on running and not let anything sway me from my goal of a healthy routine.
I had mentioned I wanted to cram in all my runs for the week over the weekend, but I'm remembering how that's always been a bad idea for me. It makes me feel pressured, it hurts my body since I don't give myself time to rest and overall I simply need to forgive myself for not starting on Tuesday. Sometimes it's hard for me to let go of guilt when I say I'll do something then end up not doing it, but this time my reasoning was genuine. It's not like I woke up on Tuesday feeling fine and was just lazy, I did feel sick so I shouldn't hold myself accountable for something I couldn't control. Today I'm going to give my legs a rest (they're sore!) and run tomorrow when it's hopefully cooler. Apparently the temperature here has dropped 10 degrees, but it still feels hot to me! I won't be satisfied until I'm shivering in my apartment haha.
Lacerta - I think with running it takes a long time to get into it, but when it clicks it's a wonderful feeling. I'd recommend anyone to finish a C25K program, then run a 5K race and get that buzz from participating in a race, then make the decision on if it's not for you. I know people who run who still don't like it, but they know that it has great health benefits so they do it anyway, so it really isn't for everyone! I do think that races are a lot of fun and there's a rush when you finish it and get a little prize. I'm a magpie and like to collect medals, haha. I'm excited to see you do so well with your weight loss! Keep it up, so many great goals for you to meet on the horizon.
Atarimae - It's the app by zen labs fitness, I believe it's the "official" one. It's free unless you want to unlock stats on your run, but I have a Garmin watch for that so I'm fine with the freebie version. I used to live off of convenience store meals in Japan, they were sooo good but I dread to think of the sodium content in them! I know it's so much better to cook yourself but sometimes you just gotta eat. There must have been all sorts of chemicals in them to keep me coming back for more too, a scary thought! I hope the birthday food is good and that you stay relatively on plan. I try to limit myself to one serving of food whenever I go anywhere that's buffet style. Sometimes I fail, sure, but I try :lol:
Mara - Omg yes, I remember that now! Jeez that kid had way too much time on their hands...I can't believe they kept coming back to sabotage it! I can happily say I never did anything that dumb as a kid.
Amazing Lacerta! Congrats on the woosh!
Rie ~ I'll look into that app!
Sorry for short personals today; just a quick check-in before quite a busy day ahead. Weigh-in was 149.7, so it is quite apparent my body is...Idk, confused? :lol: Or the sodium wooshed out. Who knows! I had McDonald's for dinner though, but stuck to keto. So part of me doesn't think it's the sodium. I AM SO CONFUSED! Haha! I have one other theory, but since it isn't all THAT serious, I'll check it out later.
Total October Weight Loss:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
Welp I managed to lose 0.5 lbs last week. While I am happy that I lost weight and didn't gain, I know I need to step up my game with my eating to really start losing! Yesterday I was both good and bad, I went on my second run of the week and managed to go a little bit further in the same amount of time which I'm happy with. However (always a however!) I was not good on the food front. I had a banana for breakfast, a nutrigrain bar, a slice of Costco pizza, a bagel, butter chicken curry and then fruit. Too much! I really didn't need that bagel but once we picked them up from Costco I just felt this urge to eat one and gave myself the "I only had a small breakfast" excuse and completely glazed over the fact I had a greasy slice of pizza an hour before. Saying that I really didn't need the slice of pizza but don't take that away from me yet :lol:

On to hopefully a better week! I'm feeling confident I can fit in my runs this week, so I'm determined on that front. I do know that when I start exercising I stall in my weight loss then suddenly I'll have a whoosh. This might be a frustrating month for me because of that, just need to keep reminding myself of that!

VickieLou, Atarimae, Lacerta - Well done on your weigh ins!

Keep on trucking, gardenerjoy!

Hi Everyone! I kept creeping up on the scale last week. I know partly it was due to salt and maybe partly to time of the month approaching. I am starting this week a little higher than last, but hoping to show some progress this week. :)

Great week for me, ending on yet another new low. Not a huge whoosh, but any loss the first 10 days of any month is always welcome for me, and this was a good loss for me for any week. Less than a pound away from changing my avatar again.
