Total Loss for Week Two:

Still hanging out in the 173s, which is fantastic during my busy time. Had an 11 hour day today, and probably will be about that tomorrow again. This month is especially busy as we are getting ready to go live on a new web portal for all our tenants and rental owners, and it requires a lot of extra data gathering and input to get ready. It will be awesome once it is up, but it is some work to get there. And that is on top of my normal 8th to 10th crazy time. So a little busy this week. But I'm finding that I'm a lot less upset by it than I used to be. I think the weight loss is starting to improve my attitude about work as well as everything else, which is fantastic.

Atarimae 10-09-2019 12:23 AM

Phew, falling slightly behind on the check-ins! I have to be quite honest, and this feels like such a safe platform to do so. So...I FINALLY (about 10 years too late) got my wisdoms pulled. Which means the weight will be fluctuating until I can eat things beyond liquids and soft foods. It felt nice to finally take care of myself (which included having more dentist appointments this year than I did in the last 15). I definitely don't want to go through this trouble and the pain/discomfort of having dental work again. :lol: Well, with that said, this liquid diet is making me unbearably hungry all day, so I advanced to soft solids. Tomorrow is weigh-in. OH BOY!

Lacerta 10-09-2019 07:29 PM

Atarimae: Ugh. Feel better soon. I got mine surgically removed at 15. One side swelled up and the other side bruised. I looked like a lopsided chipmunk who'd lost a fight. I was sick for 3 days. On the other hand, my husband had his pulled after they'd come in, and he went back to work the same day. Hope yours is more like his was and you are back to normal soon.

Mara: That's exactly right, it is a journey and every journey worth making includes a few detours. If you learned anything this week about things to do, or things not to do, or things you could do differently, it was a successful week, regardless of what the scale says.

Total Loss for Week Two:

That was a surprise this morning. After a long day at work, especially during my busy time, I never lose weight, plus this morning was an hour early and prebathroom. Imagine my delight when I discovered I was at another new low today. This has been a good month so far for me. I just wanted to stay under 175 until after the 10th, and here I am on the verge of 172.x.

Atarimae 10-09-2019 08:38 PM

Thanks Lacerta! I purposely chose this Monday to do them, since we had a week off for October break. Mine had all come in already. Kind of hoping they were part of the contributing factor in all my bad sinus problems. Two days later, and I'm seemingly fine! Congrats on your new low! That is so awesome and you've been doing so well.

Weight went a little up, to 150.2 today, but it's alright! Still trying to remain on liquid and soft foods, so I am not in ketosis...but also hoping that I stay hydrated and nourished. I don't think I'll edit tickers, even though it's a Wednesday. :P

I'm almost home from a 2 week overseas trip. Did not eat on plan at all and way too much wine. My ankles are all swollen. Tomorrow I’ll be back on plan 100% and hopefully will get back down to my starting weight. This trip is why I only planned a 3lb goal for the month.

Keala 10-10-2019 11:31 AM

Riestrella - That's encouraging! I do stretching and strengthening stuff for my leg because otherwise it gets really stiff and sore. Maybe there's hope for me! But even if there's not, I can still walk fine on it (so long as I do my exercises) so that's my main thing.

Atarimae - getting your wisdome teeth pulled is an adventure all right! I'm glad you were able to get that done! When I did it I couldn't brush my teeth for a while per my instructions, and that was my least favorite part.

Lacerta - Congrats! Almost 172.x is awesome!

Mara - My weight tends to go up or stall for a long time before it drops again. I think it might be related to my menstruation cycle (maybe?). Maybe yours does too?

etherbunny - How fun! how was your trip?

---
Trying to catch up a bit. Work has been nuts and it's unlikely to get better. I like my work but... well, it is what it is.

So, my weight is hanging out. Not a real gain, so I'll take it.

I'm not worried about that bump today. I had a SUPER late dinner (like 9:00, when I usually have my last large meal around 3:00) and then weighed in early again, and prebathroom again. I'm having to eat somewhat late tonight (about 6:00) due to work schedule, but much earlier than last night. I theoretically should be back in the 173s tomorrow.

Mara 10-11-2019 09:50 AM

Whoosh. I think today was a result of actually eating well the last few days, but being off on my eating and weigh in schedule and retaining water from the stress of my busy time at work. So the last 2 day's weights were artificially inflated. Today was the first day I was on a more normal schedule for me and got to weigh in at my normal time, post bathroom. So while it looks like a whoosh, I think it was just the result of being back on schedule. Wasn't expecting to go quite so far into the 172s, though, and wouldn't be surprised to have a bit of a bump back up tomorrow.

But for now, I can celebrate being more than 95 pounds down, and change my avatar. That also moves my BMI into the 26s. I'm now less than 13 pounds overweight. Even though those 13 pounds will take a while, I'm getting close enough to start being excited about it.

etherbunny 10-12-2019 01:24 PM

Typing on my phone, so please excuse any errors.

My home scale says I'm waaaayyyyy up. Expected but still shocked to see a whole months worth of work gone in a 2 week vacation. Obviously I didn’t eat 23,800 excess calories so I’m hoping for a post travel adjustment in a few days. Monday is official weigh in day. Fingers crossed for a better number. Anyway, this will be incentive to stay on plan again and a hard lesson learned about what to not do in maintenance when that time finally comes around.

Sgregg congrats on on the happy surprise! My babies are all grown up but I remember that feeling of nurturing a new life.
Lacerta steady progress to goal. Way to go! Your loss is incredible.
Atarimae dental work is no fun. Hope you’re feeling better and can rest up over your break.
Riestrella keep us updated on your c25k progress. I’m more of a hiker/treadmill walker but recently tried some interval running on the treadmill. Don’t know that I could manage it outdoors though.
Mara, Keala, Gardnerjoy, Linewife, Vickielou, and anyone else I missedhope your weekend is going well. Good to see you all here.

My vacation was wonderful. I’m lucky to be able to travel once a year with close family and see and do amazing things. I think I’m going to get those photo books made to give as holiday gifts this year. Has anyone used a particular company and can recommend? Several come up on an internet search but personal experience would be appreciated.

Lacerta 10-13-2019 11:13 AM

Thanks etherbunny. Those post vacation bloats can be brutal, but I guarantee a bunch of it is water and will come back off quickly once you dive back in to your healthy ways. Good luck for your official weigh in tomorrow

Total Loss for Week Two:

So apparently I was wrong about being back up today. I whooshed a bit further, even. In fact, I hit my goal already for October, which I felt was an optimistic goal to begin with, and ties with my best month since May, and it's only the 13th today. Oh, and I can also mark off the "15 BMI points lost" minigoal. 41.88 to 26.88

I guess I need to set a new goal. I usually plateau after a whoosh, so it is possible I won't lose anything else the rest of the month (which is totally fine), but just to be crazy, I'm going to go ahead and set a new goal to get into the 160s, so an additional 1.8 pounds, which would be tied for my 2nd best month in 2019 if I can make it.

I don't actually know when I was last in the 160s. I would guess senior year of high school. Some point around now is the lowest I've been since turning 18, but I wasn't weighing in back then, so I don't actually know. But yeah, I'm around the smallest I've ever been as an adult, which is absolutely amazing. I've also noticed that I'm seeing my little sister more and more when I look in the mirror. She's always been thin, and I've never really noticed a resemblance between us, but lately, I find myself looking more and more like her.

Total October Weight Loss:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
Hey everyone! I'm still alive but had a bit of a crappy week last week :lol: I think my anxiety got the better of me + with the decrease in temperature (yay!) my body has been fighting off a cold. Been feel lethargic and run down. I've identified some issues I've been having with my weight loss - late night snacking and breakfast. Breakfast has started to become something large like an egg sandwich, then when I get to lunch I feel programmed to have ANOTHER sandwich because I've been in that habit for 30 years so it'll be a tough nut to crack. I want to start having small breakfasts, something like fruit, which works fine for when I go to my creative agency job. Late night snacking is self explanatory, I don't even know I'm doing it until I'm stuffing my face with chips and salsa and look at the clock and it reads 10pm. Oof.
Gonna be working on those this week (already failed on the breakfast thing, oops!) and hopefully I'll see some changes.
I have to remind myself constantly that weight loss takes time. Sometimes people get lucky and just start losing crazy amounts all at once in the beginning, but I'm SO MUCH different than other people. It usually takes a month or two for my body to catch up and also that amount of time for me to identify my bad habits and fix them. I can't get disheartened even though I've been trailing along for the last couple of months. I have to keep going!!
Lacerta - What an amazing thing to have hit your lightest adult weight goal! And to start seeing similarities with you and and your sister.
Riestrella: I feel you on the breakfast habit. Sometimes if it doesn't seem breakfast enough in my mind, then I stress if I will feel fulfilled. And I know that is not logical, just a habit.
Lacerta: Way to go on the low!
Atarimae 10-15-2019 12:47 PM
I haven't been on to update much! YIKES. Weight has been very up and down due to inconsistent meals/eating. I'm low on time again, so I'll check in better later. :lol: On a side note, had a check up with the oral surgeon, and he gave the thumbs up for my healing...yay!
I'm up a smidge the last couple of days, but I'm ok with it. I did some new arm/chest exercises and feeling some doms, plus I've just been extra busy at work. Honestly, I've reached a range where I'm ok to just maintain for a while and then lose when I have time to focus on it, and then maintain for a while again. Feeling good.
etherbunny 10-17-2019 11:01 AM
I try not to weigh myself except for official weigh in days but I had to see if I was trending back down. 177.5 yesterday! Not at my monthly low yet but good to see the travel weight is coming off quickly. I'm more hopeful now that I can make my monthly goal. Less than 4 lbs away :)
October is half over! How's everyone doing?
Keala 10-18-2019 08:52 AM
My weight has been pretty much the same (hanging at 183 right now), and a lot of it is definitely because I'm not watching as close. Lately I've been doing the work, sleep, work, sleep, work, sleep cycle, and that means no time to make meals, and that means eating whatever food other people bring to work (usually desserts, pizza, etc.) and wolfing it down before going back to work.
I'm no trying to make excuses so much as vent frustration that I need to obviously find a way to work with this because it's not going away any time soon. Hey, at least I haven't had a huge gain.
Hope everyone's October is going well! I likely won't meet my goal, but I hope to get close-ish.
Really quiet thread this month. I haven't been posting every day, as I've been just hanging out in the 172s with nothing much going on, plus working extra hours. But this morning, I don't know what happened. Maybe I woke up short a kidney or something. We'll see if it sticks, but for now, I'm marking that off as goal achieved. I am now my high school weight. I'm not even going to set a new goal for October, I just want to keep this one through the rest of the month. I also was curious, so took a few measurements. I've lost inches too. My unofficial waist measurement is now 33", which puts me below the 1/2 my height recommendation for the first time. This is getting real. I've still got a lot of lower belly to lose, though. That measurement is a lot bigger. But progress is being made. Yay!
Hi lovely ladies! I finally have a little time in the morning to swing by and have a proper-ish post. :lol: Thanks to happy scale, I've still been keeping track of numbers daily!
ether ~ You're doing well! Yay for the travel weight going down! Very afraid of what my numbers will look like on our two week belated honeymoon in December. EEK!
Keala ~ A stall is still better than a gain! At least, that is how I like to look at things. Before I started meal prepping, the work/sleep thing used to really affect me too, so I can DEFINITELY relate.
Lacerta ~ Your numbers have been amazing! :hug:
Vickie ~ Wow, you're doing well. Congrats!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Eep. So the next two weeks will be parent teacher conferences. The upside? One less hour of school daily. The downside? Talking to parents! AH. It's always intimidating; I never know what to expect!

Anyway, I've been failing to actually POST my numbers, but I've been in the 149s most of this week, and revealed 147.3 yesterday and 147.0 today. I'm not sure if I'm undereating because I'm too lazy to clean the wisdom socket...on weekdays especially, I've been doing OMAD for the most part! I only drink calories at work since my lunch is only 30 min. Healing is fine though! No pain anymore. Happy Monday! :carrot:

SnowMama 10-21-2019 01:13 PM

Hi all, I'm back looking for some inspiration and accountability. Mid-May I was at 136.6 (down 51.4lbs) but I've been less diligent about food and have allowed my weight to creep back up to 144.8. I need to reset and refocus on eating habits. I haven't been way off, in terms of food choices, but I'm eating more than I need to maintain. Fitness is in a good place, but I don't want to workout to eat. I have made some big fitness goals over the last month - made it to the summit of Mount Whitney (22 miles, 14,505 ft) and running regularly again post-ACL/MCL tear (4+ miles/3x week).

So. My goal is -1.5 lbs by 10/31 or 143.3.
