VickieLou: Thanks. I'm not quite there yet. 1.6 pounds to go. But so close. Grats to you on reaching 80 pounds down. You're doing amazing.

Snowmama: Welcome back. I meant to say it earlier, just haven't had much time to spare this week, and didn't want to forget by waiting any longer. I would say it was good to see you, but that's such a mixed message, given what these boards are for. It's good for me to see you, even though you'd rather not need to be here. But way to go getting back on the horse at only 8 pounds up. And you climbed 22 miles up Mount Whitney?! That's amazing. Huge way to go on that.

That's another new low. I'm shocked at how well this month is going. Today's weight makes this month tied for the best month I've had in 2019. If I lose any more, it'll be the best I've done since last October. No idea why the ongoing losses compared to absolutely nothing last month, while doing the same things. But it is fun right now to keep seeing the scale change. Oh, and today's weight means I've marked off the goal of 7 stone lost, for those of you in the UK.

Atarimae 10-24-2019 12:45 PM

Wow, good going Lacerta! :carrot: It's definitely weird how the human body works, but with this rate, no complaints!

This morning showed 146.6. I ate double serving at dinner, but struggled to eat my whole lunch, so that could've had something to do with it! Who knows? I have two planned all-in meals/days this weekend...and maybe, unfortunately three. At least if the mindset is right, I'll know not to feel disappointed at the scale come Monday. It's just a very going-out weekend, starting from a Friday school carnival. :lol: I guess instead of two DAYS of all-in, three MEALS of all-in isn't so bad.

Lacerta 10-25-2019 09:13 AM

Atarimae: Thanks, I feel great. And I don't think there is anything wrong with 3 all in meals this weekend. I had one for lunch on Tuesday, and was so stuffed I didn't eat dinner. I thought about having an apple, but I wasn't even hungry enough for that. As long as you go into it knowing that it is just those 3 meals and then back on track, you're fine. It is when it becomes an every week thing that it starts to add up.

Total Loss for Week Four:

That isn't a typo. I'm down to another new low again today. I'm not sure where all this is coming from. Last week, I thought I must be losing September's weight along with October, but I was only averaging about 2.5 pounds a month and I'm now down 7.4 pounds this month (so 3 month's worth). I mean, I did switch my breakfast out to a lower calorie lower carb one a couple months ago, and started doing some strength training a few months ago, and have been working to actively eat less chocolate (I would say I only average about 100 calories per day now in chocolate). Maybe all those things that hadn't shown any difference are finally showing up. However, given my historical stall and whoosh pattern, it also could just be a prolonged whoosh and November and December will completely stall out. But either way, I'm now 99 pounds down and only 1 pound from my 2019 goal. Even if I totally stall out, and even with all the end of year holidays, I should be able to lose 1 pound in 2 months.

Oh, edited to add that I am wearing my size 8 jeans to work today for the first time. My 10s were getting too big - which is a sentence I never thought I'd be able to say in my entire life. 8 was my dream goal size when I started, that I never thought I could get to. Now I know I can realistically get to a 6 or maybe even a 4. I can fit easily into my 6s, just too tight to wear out yet. I haven't bought a 4 because I didn't think that was even realistic to think about. I put on my old 18W this morning to see whether I could fit into 1 leg yet. I thought maybe I could get them to my knees. I got them almost all the way up. Not quite all the way, but 90%. My toes were sticking out the end and they were at the bottom of my hips. When I started, they were almost too small to wear at all and now I almost fit in one leg. I bet I can get them up in another 10 pounds.

Edited again to also add that I'm now tied with my loss with October 2018. In my entire journey, I've only had 3 months better than this one. So this really is an abnormal loss for me.

VickieLou 10-25-2019 10:09 AM

Lacerta! Oh my goodness, you're so close! The jeans NSV is even more awesome. I can't wait to be in single digit pants sizes. (I'm currently wearing an 11/12...kind of bottom heavy :lol:) You will definitely make that goal...I can feel it! :carrot:

Speaking of strange whooshes, I weighed in at 145.5 this morning. I mean, I realistically know I haven't lost 2.2 pounds of FAT in two days, but nonetheless, it's awesome to see numbers I haven't seen in...well, years. 145 even would put me in the high end of 'normal' for my height, so I'm quite excited. Happy Friday all! :)

gardenerjoy 10-26-2019 08:00 AM

I thought I should weigh today because I've been following my food plan pretty well recently. The next two or three days are going to be impossible to plan due to tending to family stuff and that's not my best situation.

At least, I got to see myself down almost half-way to my goal!

VickieLou, Lacerta, Gardnerjoy, Atarimae great losses ladies! You all are an inspiration!

I've struggled the past few days. Thursday was a complete blowout. I craved everything all day and ended it with a bad choice from a local restaurant. The only good thing was I couldn't eat the giant burger I ordered. Three bites in and I was full and nauseous. Previously, I would have scarfed the whole thing down and eaten the side of onion rings to boot! I've always found it very easy to eat carbs as they seem to pass out of my stomach quickly. I've tried to make it a new habit to eat veg and protein first to fill up and only add hopefully healthy carbs at the end. Friday was a bad day at work. Very early breakfast then only a cup of tea until 14 hours later. I stayed within goals for the day but ate most of my calories in the 2 hours before bed. And nowhere near enough water! Today I really really want sugar. Almost feel like I need to detox all over again. But I have all my meals and snacks planned out. I missed the gym yesterday but will get in my treadmill miles today. Monday's weigh in might not be pretty but luckily I've got bonus days to get to goal. I have to remind myself that one bad day doesn't erase 8 months of hard work.

Have a great weekend! :wizard:

Lacerta 10-26-2019 10:18 PM

etherbunny: See, what I heard from that was that you had a really rough couple of days, but you came out the other side, and you're still here and still working at it, and that is a HUGE victory. Way to go.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
Whew, sorry about dropping off the planet there. A lot has happened. Long story short, I cut down my hours at my creative agency job to focus on another project that I'm excited about. A week after that happened, my boss at the agency called and asked me to come back and increased my rate by $60 a day. While I was super thankful for the raise, I couldn't just abandon the project, so I'm back at the agency 3 days a week. I've been trying to figure out my new schedule and it's been a process since I suffered from some pretty bad PMS during that week too. I'm still getting a little bit of pressure to go back to my max hours at the agency (30) but I have to keep gently saying no. Not super stressful at the moment but I hope it doesn't escalate into "we gave you a raise, sooo..."
In terms of my health Week 3 of October for me suuucckked. PMS had me eating a lot of junk. However, I signed up for a 30 day pass at a dance studio, so I'm going to cram in as many classes as possible and if I can justify the pretty steep monthly membership fee, then I'm going to join. So far I've been to 2 classes, one was tough but it was sooo boring (same choreo for 1 hour straight?!) and the other was really good but my goodness my body is aching!!
Hope y'all are doing well!! I'll be back on personals asap.
Thanks for the reality check Lacerta. I've realized that I have a control issue. Much of my adult life felt out of my control. I just recently learned to take control again about a year ago, and started to control my eating habits just last March. So Thursday being out of control with my eating and Friday being out of control with my work day put me in a bit of a funk. I like order and simplicity and strive to maintain that.
Riestrella, good to see you back. Love your new tickers! Good luck on the new project and congrats on the raise. :belly:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~

I need a serious pick-me-up y'all. I'm going to try and do it myself, but your input would be super appreciated. Let's start with the bad thoughts: I went to a dance class yesterday and saw myself in the full length mirror. Now, we do have mirrors in our house, but not really anything floor length and with good lighting (our mirror in the closet bounces light from the windows and the bathroom mirror comes up to my hips). It was the first time in the past year that I truly saw the effects of my unhealthy habits. To me I looked huge. I almost didn't recognize myself, honestly. I know it seems silly, but seeing myself sort of unfiltered was a huge blow to my self esteem. I feel like in my mind I was how I looked when I was 160/170 lbs, but seeing me at almost 200 lbs was pretty upsetting.

On a positive note - I went to a dance class three times last week and they kicked my a$$. I did a stretch and conditioning class, I severely underestimated the conditioning side of it!! Yesterday my body was on fire. I also did a class called Rebel Groove, which was SO MUCH FUN. The ladies in there were just so confident, bada$$, the moves were super fun and strong and sexy. I'm so glad I found it! I think I would join the dance studio for that class alone. I'm so proud of myself for going three times a week, for doing something new when my anxiety tends to be a big obstacle, and for finally starting my journey to exercise frequently again.

My weight has gotten to an all time high in the last few weeks, it's all been a bit of a blur honestly. I have to remind myself that I ALWAYS gain weight/stall when I start exercising again. So the next few weeks are probably going to be trying for me since the weight I'm stalling at is dangerously close to the 200's. But I have to keep pushing, I have to keep going. That image of myself in the mirror should become motivation, I know it's silly to get so upset about it, but I think once I've got it all out of my system it'll be a good catalyst for change.

-------------------

VickieLou - Huge congrats on meeting your goal!!

etherbunny - Thank you!! I'll have to change my Halloween ticker since I'm no where near the goal :lol: I think my next one will be for Christmas. Sorry you had a bad few days last week, doesn't it suck when you just want ALL the food? I definitely had that last week...I had sushi for lunch then because a co-worker ordered a sandwich I love I went and bought one for dinner. Sooo bad. That's a great idea to eat veggies first when you order out! I wish I could eat 3 bites of a burger and stop :lol: that's a huge deal!!

gardenerjoy - I hope everything with your family is ok!

Atarimae - Congrats on the whoosh!! Hope things are still going well for you :)

Lacerta - Man, I genuinely teared up reading your post about reaching size 8 jeans! I'm just so happy for you. Even though you're baffled by your weight loss, I think your answer was right there - you're working out more, you've cut down on sugar, you're still killing it with your day to day goals and it all amounts to success. I hope you surprise yourself even further in the next few months and continue this downward trend!!

Atarimae 10-28-2019 12:51 PM

gardnerjoy ~ I hope everything with your family is okay!
etherbunny ~ It sounds like your body is well-adapted and reacted to the burger. That just shows that your body knows that's outta the norm. Way to go! I appreciate the sweet words! :)
Rie ~ Congrats on your work raise! Your dance classes are sounding super awesome. Quite honestly, the movement bit is where I struggle in this journey, so you are definitely a great motivation!
VickieLou ~ Congratulations on your goal! :hug: :carrot:

Yep. Well to say my cheat weekend meals were a beast would be an understatement. This morning, I am at 148.8. 3.3 lbs up from Friday morning, BUUUT given it was a pre-planned weekend, I'd like to think I have the right mindset.

Friday was amazing. I got to visit my old students from my previous school and catch up with former co-workers. Many of them commented on my weight loss, which was an amazing NSV! I guess when we're in our bodies on the daily, we don't realize the overall change that's occurring! My former VP was even asking how keto works, but then said she could never do it. :lol: Sunday was dinner at my dad's. I have to admit it's a little frustrating with my dad's girlfriend though. I guess someone she knew had a heart attack at a young age while on keto and now she wants me to change my 'diet plans.' She previously mentioned he was someone who at whole sausages and lots of bacon...um...I do NOT do that. Ah well, the hubby tried to defend my eating versus that guy's. Hopefully she'll understand that I'm not intending to seek out unhealthy fats and eat it.

Anyway, back to that Monday grind!

A nice 2 lb drop this morning to make me feel better after my pity party yesterday! My average is still 195.4 lbs, but I'm a few days away from my period so hopefully I'll get a fabled "whoosh" in a few weeks when all this dancing catches up to me! I've noticed my scale seems to weigh me in increments of .2, which is weird to me. Might try and invest in a better scale one of these days!

Today I'm going to a Ballet Barre Fit class, I haven't been to one since I lived in CO so I'm excited to see if this studios version is just as good. On the one hand barre classes are usually filled with rich white housewives...but on the other it really does work wonders on my body! I feel my knee/back pain decrease after practicing for a while. Wish me luck!

Atarimae - It's interesting how we all differ! I suck with nutrition :lol: What an amazing NSV to have people notice! Ugh, sounds like that person was doing keto in the "cheat" way of thinking all the fats in the world was healthy.

gardenerjoy - Congrats on meeting your goal even in trying times.

Lacerta 10-29-2019 10:07 AM

gardenerjoy: You can turn me red too, I made my goal, set a new goal and made that one. Congrats on making your goal this month, even if it was not sustainable. I know people who lose weight on purpose that way. A few days of effort with resulting loss followed by maintaining that new weight for a few weeks, etc. I hope everyone is ok.

Riestrella: Hey, you caught it at less than 40 pounds. I wish I had started when I was still in the 190s. Your current weight is still around the lowest I'd ever lost to until a few months ago. The 190s are still pretty good. And you don't have that far to go to get back to the 160s. Way to go getting back to the gym. Maybe along with that, pick one thing you can consistently make better about your diet and make that your absolute minimum thing for now, with goals to do better if you can, but a minimum you won't do worse than. For example: "Bronze: Eat under 1800 calories and don't drink soda ; Silver: Eat under 1600 calories and at least 1 veggie ; Gold: Eat under 1500 calories and as little sugar added as possible ; Platinum: Eat under 1500 calories of all unprocessed food". So if you make Gold some days, and Silver most days, but at least Bronze every single day, you stay on track and don't backslide. When that becomes easy, you can step up what your baseline for Bronze is. Or maybe that sounds terrible for you. I'm a big proponent of the idea that everyone should do what works for them when it comes to weight loss, so I promise that even if you say "Lacerta, that sounds like a torture device", I won't take offense.

Sorry for going MIA guys! Still busy with Open Enrollment at work and a couple doctor's appointments. I am still hovering around 311/312, and trying to not go too crazy from stress.

I hope everyone has amazing weeks!

Total loss for Entire Month:

My current measurements (to the nearest .25 inch) are:
Neck: 13
Bicep: 12
Forearm: 10.25 -> 10
Chest: 40.5 -> 40.25
Waist: 34.5 -> 33
Belly/Hips: 41.5 -> 41
Thigh: 23.75 -> 23.25
Calf: 16

I decided to take my measurements today instead of tomorrow just due to time. I had time today, don't know if I will tomorrow. I lost a whopping inch and a half off my waist this month, and another inch and a half total everywhere else. Glad to see it coming off my waist, because that is more likely to be visceral fat, which is the best health benefits to lose. For the first time, at my official measurement, my waist is less than 1/2 my height, one of the health markers I was going for. The three numbers I've heard for reduced risk of heart disease for women are 1) waist less than 35" 2) waist less than 1/2 height and 3) waist to hip ratio less than .80. I've met the first two now, and my WtH ratio is currently .805, so ALMOST there.

Wednesday weigh-in yay! This morning's weight is 146.8. Woot! Unfortunately I won't be meeting my October goal, and the all-in days were pre-planned, so surprisingly, I'm not TOO upset! Been back on plan for two days now so that's the main thing (and the part I'd struggle with in the past).

SnowMama 10-30-2019 01:08 PM

VickieLou: Congrats on 80lbs down, that is lots of hard work and persistence right there!
Lacerta: Hello and congrats on all your progress while I was away! :) I really should have stuck around for longer – it’s really challenging when life gets busy to maintain focus while pursuing other worthy goals. This group of people is so supportive and helps keep me on track. Glad to see everyone, no matter where they are in their journey.
Atarimae: I am also bottom heavy, and sometimes my brain doesn’t make the connection that I’m not the size I was a year and a half ago. If you don’t already have a pair, I highly recommend buying a next size down pair of jeans – there has been more than once when I didn’t realize I was comfortably in a smaller size! Great work this month.
Gardernerjoy: I am so impressed by your exercise commitment! I wish you lived next door so I could walk with you. :)
Etherbunny: Every day is another chance to course correct. 60 lbs is no small feat and one bad day doesn’t erase that. Hopefully the weekend gave you the opportunity to reset.
Riestrella: I love hearing about your dance classes, I’ve wanted to take some dance classes for a loooooong time but it’s so far out of my comfort zone. Maybe I’ll ask for a pass to a studio for Christmas. Lol.

I made my back on track goal, now time to set my November goal!

October was a great month for me, the 4th best on the scale since I started about 19 months ago. Better yet, I'm only 0.2 pounds away from 100 down, and only 8 pounds from a "healthy" weight. I also lost 3 inches overall and went down to a size 8 jean. I said at the beginning of September that I could feel a good month coming. I was wrong about it being September, but it definitely showed up this month.
