    Total Loss for Week two:
  • I’m new here. Is it too late to join the challenge? I am motivated by your posts and determination
  • Hey all! Just checking in on a Saturday morning before I go in to the office to work for a bit. We submitted a proposal and were selected for an interview, but the interview is Monday. Quick turnaround. The kitties decided to wake me up early by tearing around the house, yay.

Kim Thanks for your note, I love that you care enough about a stranger on the internet (me!!) to express your concern. <3 I haven’t shared my complete plan (and won’t) but please rest assured that I have done the research, talked to my doctor, and developed a plan for my specific needs. After one month of diet change I became completely free of horrible acid reflux and heartburn, I feel fantastic, I no longer snore (!!), and I have so much more energy. I’m now at two and a half months on this journey. I haven’t gone back in for blood tests yet but expect to see improvements across the board.

I’ve completely eliminated my one soda a day and replaced with water. I eat 2 cups of spinach and a whole egg or two egg whites, plus a dash of cheese and honey mustard for breakfast. Or spaghetti squash and egg in a scramble. Lunch is a salad with chicken. I usually have a snack in the afternoon to carry me through to dinner, because the commute home can be long, then I have to pick up my daughter, then make dinner. Favorite snacks right now are Bear Nakes oatmeal/peanut butter/honey clusters, cottage cheese, watermelon or other fruit, banana smoothie (basically banana/milk/choc powder), homemade pickled brussels sprouts or dill carrots or whatever my neighbor/friend brings me. Dinner is veggies and 4oz. of protein. We love zoodles, and carrot noodles, cauliflower and spaghetti squash. So many options! I’m keeping bread, pasta, chips, cereal, rice, and anything related out of my diet. Choosing lower sodium foods. No bacon (that one is a huge reflux trigger), very very little butter (it’s been three months and we haven’t made it through a quarter stick), and a light touch on the oils.

The first week after making the diet changes I felt hungry. My mouth wanted a big thick pastrami sandwich on dutch crunch bread and chips and a beer after work. Bad daily habits. After that first week I haven’t felt hungry, except after a long bike ride (10+ miles). I make sure to refuel with protein/potassium/veggie carbs.

Nicoley Rock band camp?! That sounds really fun. My daughter leaves for outdoor adventure camp in a couple of weeks. You stayed pretty steady last week, I think you’re due for a whoosh! Fingers crossed.

Ophelia Yay, your hubby is back! I forgot you’re chasing around a three year old, oh my goodness! How do you even make it on here to post? Lol.

Ange I’m with you on the consistency and not going off plan on weekends. It’s so important for me. It’s really exciting to see you transition to maintenance and I’m interested to see where you end up for daily calories. I wish I liked yogurt, because your breakfast sounds so refreshing! I have a vanilla Greek yogurt that I was going to try to eat but haven’t been able to bring myself to – in the fridge for three weeks now. Lol.

Momtopands Wow, I hope you get to keep your whoosh! I got a bit dehydrated a couple weeks ago and my weight did crazy things for a couple of days after. It evened out in the end, but for a couple of days it was a guessing game where the scale was going next.

  • So much progress being made this month.

kfunk, you are having an amazing month so far. You're going to hit your goal before we are even halfway through, at this pace. And thank you for the reminder that doing the work means it was a good week, even if the scales don't reflect it.

Ange, you are doing so good so far at maintaining. I know you will do great while away at work

Toomanydimples, I think it is a great thing that you set yourself an ambitious goal for the month, because it seems to have inspired you. Great, consistent losses.

Snowmama, that's why I specifically like the waist measurement, since if the tape can find a shorter route, I'm not in the right spot. Find the smallest point, measure there. So I'm relatively sure it is the same spot each time. I have a lot more trouble with hips. I never feel like I've got the exact same spot as the time before.

    Total Loss for Week Two:

No real change for me on the scale the last two days. I'm just hovering around 248. However, I tried on my size 18 jeans again this morning, just to check, and I was able, just barely, to button them (when I tried a week or so ago, they were about an inch away). I couldn't even begin to zip them yet, but I could JUST get the button done up. So next goal for the month is to be able to actually get them all the way done up, which is what I really meant in the first place.

Fortunately, my stressful time at work for the month is almost done. After Monday, things calm down for me a bunch for this week. Next week, I will be covering for a coworker on vacation, so I have to go in earlier, so may not be able to get my morning walks in for just that week, but this week should be good. I'm hoping the scales finally reflect some loss after Monday.
  • Ange: I hope you're able to keep everything balanced intuitively during your week away! Have a safe trip.

momtopands: Having the same thing today -- a very suspicious whoosh, lol. I'm glad you got to keep most of yours today and am hoping the same for myself come tomorrow.

Kim: I'm glad you got to keep your loss!

    kfunk: You're doing great, K!

nicoley73: Nice whoosh, and I hope you get to keep your loss tomorrow, as well!

Catherine Rose: It's never too late to join in...welcome!

SnowMama: Luckily, I have two older stepkiddos (16 and 12) as well to help entertain him when I need some time. Since I do IF, I usually eat my breakfast at a much different time than they do, so they're all preoccupied with each other or other things by that time, so I'm able to get that meal to myself...I usually post here while I'm drinking my coffee, lol. Good luck with your company's proposal interview, by the way!

Lacerta: I'm glad the jeans are getting even closer to fitting, despite the fixed point on the scale for the day...before you know it, you'll be telling us about how they fit perfectly or are even getting loose!

    -----------------------------------------

I got a whoosh today to 172.8 today, which I'm not totally sure I trust...lol. TOM seems to be gone already after only three days as well, so it could just be post-TOM whoosh, but I'm suspicious it is playing tricks on me because it is so sudden. We'll see what happens tomorrow, but I'm going to go ahead and be thrilled for now. I took a rest day yesterday since it was my husband's first night back, but I was on-plan with the calorie range and the gallon of water. Not sure what the plan will be for tomorrow, as we might go out, but today should be a normal day.

  • Thanks Casey I’m trying to figure this site out.
  • Hi all, i'm in departure lounge for my trip away. Hopefully i'll be able to post this next week, although maybe not as much as normal. Half way through a black coffee, but will get something for breakfast from the lounge before I get on board I think. Decided I want to be quite strict this week, because these trips tend to be all or nothing. Eg, either I decide i'm telling everyone that i'm minimising calories up front - or I get dragged in to consuming 'regular' (huge) amounts in the form of meals out, alcohol, cookies with coffee, indulgent breakfasts etc. Have decided that whilst harder to do, i'd rather have my indulgences with friends at home, rather than with colleagues away! So away trips could be losing weight opportunities if I made those choices. Would be great if this could be a 'forever' plan for me, but lets see how this week goes first! So think i'll tell everyone i'm still dieting and resort back to the choices I would've made the rest of this year rather than trying the new maintenance this week, and as a result i'll probably be lucky to maintain anyway.

    Hi CatherineRose!

Snowmama yeah, I've really wanted something breakfasty this year, for breakfast (read oats/yogurt/fruit), and saved the spinach/eggs kind of combo for lunch or dinner instead, although that would probably have been a better choice and I could've experimented with the whole keto thing if I hadn't wanted those oats!! Also I can't be bothered thinking up what to eat for brekkie, so it's been pretty much the same every day Sounds like you've really made some important changes this year too and changed around how your body is working and how you feel. How good is it to see those results!!

Ophelia flippin 'ek that's a massive whoosh!!! you're doing so well (even if it bounces back up a tidge later. You're really punching through the 170's!

Lacerta love hearing the jeans progress stories - it's a much better goal than a number on a scale! you're absolutely guaranteed to get in to those jeans easily and all you have to do is what you're already doing! I just fit in to my last old clothing item yesterday, which was also a pair of impossibly small looking jeans from about 10 years ago. Decided to pack them with me this trip to wear for doing all my laboratory work (they're not exactly fashionable any more but therefore won't matter if I spill stuff on them whilst working!)

nicoley yeay! you're on the move. Good to see some good results. Keep it up!

kfunk you're going absolutely gangbusters recently! Tell us what you've been doing, or how you feel (you're too generous complimenting everyone else, but not telling us about your own successes much! ). I know you said you wanted to buckle down and get it done - is that what you're doing - have you faked it enough you're making it?!!

Sight bump up today which I was kind of expecting. I've been doing IF, but last night I felt like I was absolutely starving so I ended up having a late meal, so insulin spike before bed and I also didn't get enough water yesterday considering I worked out and also spent about 2 hours in the hot sun cleaning the interior and exterior of my car. Probably a bit dehydrated. So no freak out over this gain, it's not one of the stupid, unexplained ones.

agne ~ Hope you have a nice trip!

Casey & nicoley ~ Holy Whoosh! Hope it sticks for ya. Remember the whole balloon visual. Fat cells filling with water waiting for fat to come back and not popping until they accept the fact it's time to deflate. Hope that's the case as it's a true drop for you. That would be awesome.

Lacerta ~ Thank you! I always try to set a big goal for my first month back on track as the initial water weight drop is always pretty nice to begin with. Plus with my plan averaging 2.5lbs a week should be totally doable.

    Snowmama
~ That is great to hear. I do know there are some legit lower calorie plans out there that are doctor approved and work for some people. I'm glad it's being so beneficial for you.

Catherine ~ Everyone is always welcome!

Hi to everyone else! Happy Sunday!

    Woohoo
Almost back to where I started the month. That was very nice to see this morning. Yay.

Hubby and I went for a 3.5 mile walk along the river this morning. Cold front moving through, so it wasn't nearly as hot as usual, and was lovely.
  • Ange: I hope your flight went well! And, I think your idea of using your work travels as your stricter calorie days to save the indulgences for when you are home with friends is a great approach.

Kim: I hope you're able to rehydrate today and move back down tomorrow!

    -----------------------------------------

Weight was up a bit today - as expected - but it wasn't as much as I expected at 173.4, so I'll still take it as a win. Yesterday was all on-plan, and I roasted spaghetti squash for the first time last night to try a new pasta alternative base other than just zucchini -- it was really good! I'd definitely work it into the routine more often. Also, I found out we were invited over to one of my husband's colleagues' house (the one who stayed here as a house guest, actually) to go swimming with the kids next weekend, so I'm a little nervous about that, because I'm not sure who all will be there. I know it's weird to be hung up on the whole "being seen in a swimsuit" thing when I've already been to the public pool twice and got over it pretty quickly, but it's different when you're going over to friends' and coworkers' houses, I think. Especially with the whole loose skin issue. I guess I will just suck it up though and see how that goes! I don't want to not go over something that I know is pretty silly in the grand scheme of things.
