Apparently I can!

Tonight we have a birthday party. I can resist cake from the grocery story, but I do love a Costco cake, so we will see how my willpower goes.

Lacerta- I love your alternate goal, NSVs are my favorite!!! You are doing everything perfectly and your hard work will show soon!! Congrats on your new measurements!!

Snowmama- Congrats on your NSV that is awesome!!!! Even better that you have a stash of smaller bras so that you don’t have to run out and shop for new ones –yuck!

Joe- Great job on all of your walking! I find that making time based goals is very difficult because I very rarely make it on time and then feel bad about it. You should totally be happy for the progress that you are making right now!!

Ange- Glad that bra shopping went well! It sounds like a lovely, relaxing mid-week day!

Ophelia- I am interested to see if they end up finding a cause. She said that if they don’t find anything with the scope we will start looking into food allergies. She prescribed me some heartburn medicine to see if that helps (it doesn’t feel like heartburn) but I am taking it like she told me to. I also have been taking probiotics. I got a mild stomach ache the other day, but it wasn’t terrible thank goodness! This pain is in the middle of my upper stomach, just under where the middle of my bra sits… not sure if that is the diaphragm or would be considered right below my rib cage? YAY on keeping your whoosh!! I hope that the scale is still down for you today!

Momtopands- I love that you are experimenting with your calorie levels to find out which range works the best for your body! Nice drop!!!!

Cattails- Wow, nice going!!!

Kim- YAY on staying in the same decade and nice loss for week 1!!

Nicoley
- Nice whoosh!!!!

sigh. So not my best week I've ever had. I stayed on target all week, and got my 4 miles in almost every day and did at least 2 miles every day. The only thing I can think is that this is my busy time at work, so maybe work stress is making me hang on to the weight?? I don't actually feel stressed, more annoyed by work right now, and I'm not stress eating, but maybe somehow related. Just not sure. If that is the case, I should see a whoosh after the 11th, which is when my work time gets easier each month.

Congrats to everyone, some great numbers this week.

Ange82much What’s a lieu day? I think I need one of those. When I find a bra I like I buy multiples, and I get stuck on brands because they fit pretty close to the same across the brand.

Kfunk6113 You’re doing pretty darn well this week, happy dance for you.

Nicoley73 You never know…stranger things have happened!

Yangtzer Sounds like a nice morning, walking is good. I always set my birthday as my goal too, but it wasn’t reasonable, so I just abandoned the effort. You might not make goal by this birthday, but I bet you could make some progress!

Ophelia Hello my height/weight twin, hope your week is going well! You have an awesome track record with your losses to date, I’m just a short timer coming in for the finish line. Glad the pool is finally open! One of my favorite things to do is read in the pool (with the kindle out of the pool) and do vertical kicks in the deep end while holding myself up in the water. I get to feel like I’m relaxing while still getting some low resistance exercise in. Might be a little harder to pull off in a public pool though…hooray for summer!

Lacerta I have a hard time with measuring, I always feel like I’m changing the exact place I’m measuring, so it’s never accurate. My clothes are 100% my measuring tape. Good luck on your pants goal! Walking twice daily will definitely get you where you need to be.

Toomanydimples Hi! Congrats on a new decade and amazing job so far. How are you feeling?

My goal has been to stay between 800 and 900 cal/day, and I’ve been slightly above over the past three days (938, 944, 937). This week has been pretty high stress at work, and that’s always been my weakness. I survived a hard day? Sure, have that ice cream bar. Boss wants to buy you lunch because you’re killing it? Sure, tacos sound great. Resetting today. I was pretty active 6/5 and 6/6, so my net calories were probably lower, but it’s more about mindset than anything else. I also need to get my exercise on a more consistent schedule. I’m active, but I need to be working on my fitness.

Week One
01: 170.6
02: 169.8

No personals today, since have about 10 minutes before I have to run out the door to get our oldest to her first round of band camp for the summer...lol. I will catch up on them tomorrow and hope everyone is having a good day!

As for my check-in, the TOM bloat is in full effect this afternoon! Ouch. Up a full pound to 175.0 this afternoon, which means I'll only show a 0.4 lb loss for Week One. I am hoping that I will be able to make up the loss rate by the end of next week, after TOM is gone.

Week One
01: 175.8
02: 176.0
03: 176.0
04: 174.6
05: 174.2
06: 174.0 - TOM.
07: 175.0 - TOM.

Total Loss for Week One: 0.4 lbs.

Man, I was a bit nervous to get on the scale this morning and almost passed. I've been feeling a bit bloated since yesterday. Guess it wasn't an issue. I'm so glad to see numbers that reflect my efforts again. I'm going to just enjoy it as long as it lasts before hormones show up and start gumming up the works again.

yangster ~ Hope you're feeling better today.

Casey ~ Hope TOM doesn't do too much damage.

SnowMama
~ I always try to avoid giving out any advice on calories, but I do like to try to be helpful. There is a lot of research and evidence out there that under 1200 calories a day is not healthy for anyone. Especially if you are also exercising. I don't know if you are doing a specific diet that calls for low calories for a length of time, but long term low calorie consumption can sometimes do more harm than good, including completely messing up your metabolism. I'm a lot bigger than you and I know if I go under 1500 calories my weight loss slows down significantly or even stops. My body revolts. And it always led to ending up in a pretty big binge anyway. Again, just trying to be helpful. You know what works best for you.

Lacerta ~ Just stay positive and things will start going the right way again soon. Hope week 2 is better for you.

nicoley ~ Awesome whoosh! Hope you didn't answer the call of the cake!

Have a great day everyone!

That sounds like an amazing week!! Don’t let the scale dictate your success, there are too many variables that make it go wonky.

Snowmama- why thank you!! You had a nice loss this week as well, way to go!! What do you normally eat to stay in that calorie range? Do you feel hungry? I also need to work on my fitness!!

Ophelia
- Hopefully you will get a nice whoosh when TOM starts to wind down!!

Joe- glad that you are feeling better!

Kim
- nice drop!!!! I am also in the “enjoying it” stage and not looking forward to the “patience” stage!

Kfunk - you are killing it this month!

Ange and Snowmama - what do you guys typically eat in a day? I think you both have done/are doing fairly low calorie diets - just curious how you manage that.

I did eat a cupcake, but not the icing. Was not worth it. We are going to ArtWalk tonight - my daughter has been in rock band camp all week and now they will perform in public. I'm excited to see her - but this means dinner is up in the air. Lots of good restaurants...I'm eating a light lunch and as long as I can eat dinner early enough I should be ok.

momtopands: Nice loss!! I'm glad the scale finally listened and started moving down for you, lol.

Cattails: Happy to see you checking in!

Kim: Yay, I'm glad that the new decade is sticking and hope it continues to move down for you from here!

nicoley73: Nice whoosh yesterday, and I hope the dinner plans end up going smoothly tonight so that you can get it back! Good luck to your daughter on their performance, as well!

kfunk: Still up a pound, but with TOM here, I'm not getting too stressed about it. And, fingers crossed that they find the cause ASAP! (P.S. Nice whoosh! )

Lacerta: I hope you get a whoosh soon!

SnowMama: Hey, body twin! I think the week will get better after TOM leaves, then back to the pool I will go...and, now that my husband is back, I can have him hang out with our 3 year old for a bit and actually get some real exercise in. It will be nice to be able to trade again for a while, haha.

-----------------------------------------

Holding steady at 175.0 again today. TOM also seems to be slowing down already, which is unusual, but we will see what happens with that. In happy news, my husband is back home now! Between his classes in Georgia, coming back for only a weekend, then leaving for another two weeks of training here right away, it's like he's basically been gone for a whole month...so, needless to say, we're very happy to have him back!

(Kombucha exploration update, for anyone interested in that: Just tried the Humm brand in their seasonal "Hopped Grapefruit" flavor, and it was actually DELICIOUS. The fruit flavor was very potent and refreshing. It's my new favorite....and, of course it is just a seasonal flavor, lol. I will have to try other flavors from them, as well! )

Up a smidge, and paying for my big night out on Thursday probably. And I didn't weigh everything yesterday, but stuck to plan. Not really motivated to weigh everything today either as i'm going away for work tomorrow for a week, so won't be able to weigh anything for a week then anyway. Will wing it and see where i'm at when I get back.

Nicoley Yep, I've spend the year at about 850 cal per day. I have oats (31g!) and greek yogurt (50g) with strawberries/raspberies/blueberries for breakfast usually, and a tea with milk (20 cal). Then lunch and dinner is usually a big plate of veg (steamed or salad) with a small amount of protein. Actually I normally eat out of a dish, and fill it up with veg, which is realistically only going to be about 70cal, then add the 'goodies' on top. Had lots of fish, a bit of chicken, tofu, cheese, but red meat only about 1-2x per week (it's too calorific!) usually each dish would be about 250-300 cal range. I also include some fats every meal so i'm not hungry (avocado or salmon or olive oil or olives or feta cheese or sauces/dressings etc) Favourite volume-for-not-any-calories items have been zucchini and mushrooms. Eaten heaps of cabbage, Asian greens, broccoli, pumpkin, spinach, cauliflower, etc. Fond of squirting lemon juice and pepper on quite a lot to rev it up! And no snacking at all between meals, but I don't wait for a time to eat a meal either - if I've decided i'm hungry then I eat a full meal (or it's bedtime!) the clock doesn't come in to it. Really my success has been from the consistency though as I've stuck to this all year, and not had anything sweet, or fried, or processed, or stodgy etc, whereas in previous dieting attempts i'd tend to go off track a bit at the weekend then spend the rest of the week making up for it, which is a much more frustrating way to go!

Slight bump up but i'm sticking to my plan and my workout today will be pulling weeds in the garden and cleaning out the garage! Before renting this house I never had any idea how much stuff you have to do to maintain one. Ugh! And I hate spiders!
