Lunkah- Thank you!! I am actually starting to get nervous about maintenance. I felt pretty good about it before because I figured that I could eat what I want on the weekends and be strict during the week. Now I am worried that I will never be able to just eat like a "normal" person (snack on chips, or pretzels, have a couple beers, etc) without obsessing about it.

nicoley- GREAT JOB!!!!!!!

Thanks kfunk!

Something I am working on is only eating when I'm hungry. Like right now, I'm sitting here and I really want a snack of some kind. But I'm not hungry. I just want something yummy. I'm hoping that if I can master that, maintenance will be easier. Right now I'm about 50/50. The thing I like about IF is that I eat big meals twice a day - so I'm usually full for a few hours after. I don't like diets where I never feel satisfied.

nicoley Your reply made me so happy because it occurred to me that I forgot about getting hungry. I can still occasionally munch on things that are not currently on my plan, but I will just wait until I get hungry instead of doing it at random times throughout the day. THANK YOU, I forgot that hunger existed for a minute. I also like eating bigger meals a couple times a day, I really like the full (not uncomfortably) feeling. 50/50 is amazing progress, and once you have it down you will be able to maintain easily!!

hello all! maintenance is going ok - or rather it's going good really.
My results on the scale are exactly what I wanted i.e. to stay the same ish and drop slightly (cos i'd be worried to increase slightly) but I feel it's more by chance than planning and I still haven't a clue what I can/can't 'get away with' long term. I had some very sensible plans to increase my calories by 10% per week on average and see what happened, but I really don't think I've done that. With trips away etc and just because I feel like it, I've eaten much more than that - but because I was pretty low calorie before i'm hoping that what's happening is true and that I really can eat a fair bit more and still stay steady.
It's going to take ages to figure out how to stay at this weight i think. 3 weeks of maintenance so far and i haven't learned much - but kfunk not something to worry about - actually at the moment this stage is more fun than dieting as I get to keep having 'treats' but i'm also enjoying getting back to my diet habits afterwards for a few days. What I think might be important is to keep in the zone where I can go back to those habits at the flick of a switch, but I don't know whether that will be easy or not. The experiment continues!!

So from 123lb to 120lb.

I'm going good. Done nearly 3 months on maintenance now, but i'm still learning all the time how it works. I dropped a bit lower than my original Goal, just because i kept wanting wiggle room and it was easy to keep going, but i'm done now, I think i would look worse if I lost any more.
I'm typically gaining a few lbs at the weekend (alcohol, pasta, eating out.....), then spending the rest of the week losing it again. I'm enjoying maintenance and still motivated to keep it up. Generally i'm still eating the way I did whilst losing (lots of veggies, pretty low carbs, low sugar, small portions on any high calorific stuff), but the maintenance means I can take a lot more diversions! All good really and just grateful that it's relatively easy mentally to keep up still.

ange- holy cow, its already been 3 months for you?! Time flies!! The way you handle your maintenance plan is exactly what I hope to accomplish when I get there!! How did you decide on your original goal of 119? Do you have any updated pics now that you are firmly in maintenance?

167.2 today

thanks kfunk! i'm really pleased with how i'm going too! Actually I really should take an update pic because I don't really have one in the last 4 months i'd say. Keep meaning to do it, so thanks for the prompt, i'll get on with it and post here when I do!

(But hang on a minute..... you're the one that's lost 100lb!!!! I'm just a baby dieter! Do you have any pics to share?? You've really done amazingly and i'm so pleased you're back and motivated!)

119 is an old old target for me that I've dieted down to a couple of times in the past - once about 20 years ago and once about 10 years ago. I know i'm a size 8-10 (Aus) at that weight which is really the dream zone for me.
I"ve never been this weight that i'm at now though - although I've always had the muscles to go with it previously, so perhaphs it evens out and my current weight is a similar fat content to what I've done previously.

ange- Thank you! I was down 101 but after significant regain I am down 89, but hopefully the remaining 12 will come off faster than normal because it was put on faster than normal hehe I don't have any good photos of myself at my highest weight, I was really good at dodging the camera. It is funny though because I have some old pictures where I look HUGE but weighed about 25 lbs. less than my high weight and I have a photo where I don't look huge but am about 10 lbs. away from my high weight...so weird how fat redistributes when you yo-yo diet for so long!

My original goal was 140, but I might have to adjust that down a bit. I guess I will just play it by ear and see what I look like at 140...

alright, here's update pic of my progress this year. Not very exciting as I've looked the same since May/June really, but it's exciting that I haven't gained since then!!
