30 miles for the year (both exercise and daily movement). I'm hoping to get daily walks in for a while while our daily highs are in the 40's, yip, yip!

Hope everyone is off to a good start.

WHO ELSE WOULD LIKE TO JOIN THIS SUPPORTIVE YEARLY MOVEMENT THREAD?

Hi to Everyone and KEEP MOVING!

January 1-6: 22.43 miles.

Forgot my FitBit on Wednesday so I had more miles than what I'm reporting for this week. However, I didn't want to guess so I'm leaving it to actual recorded miles.

ok, i'm in! In the 'olden days' (i.e. 2016 and beyond) I used to do quite a lot of exercise, but 2017 was the year of injuries, so at the moment i'm recovering from a knee injury.
So my target this coming week is to do my physio exercises twice every day, and to walk the dog every day for a combination of at least 30 min (i usually walk her twice a day anyway, so this is really doing what i'm already doing, which isn't really a challenge, but at least now I've said it, i'll track it and see how much time she gets). I have to say that the dog is also a snuffler, so walking her involves walking a few steps, then snuffling round a plant, then walking a few more steps then stopping to sniff another dog, then walking a few steps then deciding to go back to another interesting smell that we just passed - so not a whole bunch of exercise really. Anyway lets start here and i'll definitely be cranking it up through the year as my knee improves

January 7-13: 30.19 miles

Spent this past week re-establishing better hydration, doing meal prep and eating fewer meals out. All in all a successful week but with plenty of room for improvement.

ange82much: You're approaching rehabbing your knee in a cautious but productive way. You know your body best and must listen to it. I used to be a twice a day deliberate walker. By this I mean, I specifically headed out to walk as exercise. I let too much get in the way of that. You've inspired me!

C7KB: to your increased mileage AND lifting. I have a 12 pound kettlebell gathering dust on my living room floor gathering dust. My next goals are to get back into an exercise routine.

thanks for the encouragements C7KB and Curvy, you've motivated me to try incorporate some daily weights too (although I don't have any equipment - so maybe push-ups, lunges/squats etc) I'll put a program together of something that won't take too long (otherwise i'm less likely to do it). I'm not rushing in to running though as that's what stuffed my knee the first time back in August!!
Going well on my current targets of 2xphysio exercises and 30min dog-walking - completed them each day so far

Hi everyone. I would like to join in. This thread has been very motivational to me in the past but I tend to slack off the second part of the year so I am going to try to be more consistent in the second half of the year in 2018. My goals for 2018 include:

Goal #1 - 1000 miles (2.74 miles/day)
Goal #2 - 1095 miles (3 miles/day)
Goal #3 - 1460 miles (4 miles/day)

Total Miles to date: 70.54
(Jan 1 up to and including Jan 25)

OK, I'm still here! Boy, has it been hard work catching that waggon to climb back on but here I am now!

I've walked 79.88 miles this month/year, which is pretty slight, on the other hand, 31.19 miles of it have been over the last 5 days, so things are picking up.

I did qualify for a rescue dog, and now have Nico in my life!I have won the dog-rescue lottery, he is a little star! When I work out/remember how to post photos, I will do of him. He's been a street dog in eastern Europe for roughly 4 years, all of his life anyway, and had never walked on a lead until 2 weeks ago. They tried in the rescue kennels but he just wouldn't budge. We took it gently for the first week but this week he's walked his little paws off! Both he and I could use to lose about 25% of our current bodyweight, so we're going to be good for each other!!

I am back from a two week vacation and had internet upon arriving home, Yeah! It was a fantastic vacation in all ways except Very Little Exercise . There were no good walking places close to where we were staying. I didn't overeat but because of little movement I gained 5 pounds, ugh!

113 miles for the year (both exercise and daily movement). Hope to get my butt in gear, still feeling a little bit of jet lag.

ange82much, and to this thread. Hope your knee improves quickly. Nice to hear you have a dog that gets you out everyday

flower, So good to see you. It wouldn't be the same without you. Nice goals!

Rosinante, Nice to see you back, I was wondering and totally understand about getting back on the wagon. It sounds like Nico will be good for body and soul.

Hi C7KB, Curvy & Tabbycat

KEEP MOVING!

hi all, hope everyone going well. I'm on track with my (very modest) execrcise targets. Just back from the evening's dog walk. Cooler today, and the dog found her inner-puppy and was gambolling around in a leggy un-co frolic! Cute.

been away for work this week, and done absolutely no exercise. I've probably averaged about 500 steps a day - literally nothing! From hotel room to conference room to restaurant and back, that's it!! Not worried about it, but now i'm back it's time to get back in to good habits.

Holy !

I'm happy to see old friends checking in on a regular basis. It's great to see folks making progress even if it's not as much as you'd like. I've had several days where I forget my FitBit so my official mileage has been a disappointment. Every day is a new day for us all.

I completely forgot to check into this thread! I wish I had a great excuse like an amazing vacation or that I was competing in the Winter Olympics, but nope. I just lost track of the thread. Okay, here I go:

January 14-20: 22.65 miles
January 21-27: 18.22 miles
January 28-February 3: 27.98 miles
Feb.4-Feb. 10: 27.12 miles
Total: 95.97 miles
Total to date: 214.19 miles
