Jacqui ~ Well on getting a loss. That is always a plus. I know after I have a cheat day, I just know the over kill in sodium will have my scale acting crazy. So congrats.
Rainbow ~ Glad to have you aboard. Sending positive vibes your way.
Argh...I still have a few hours left of work and man is it dragging on. These doctors just keep seeing patients though. Hope you guys are enjoying your Mother's Day! I know I will just as soon as 5 gets here and then perhaps a few rounds of hoops with my boys.
Not too much to report. We did have a meal out last night for Mother's Day so the scale was up a bit this morning. I imagine if I stay on plan and guzzle boat loads of water, I'll manage a swoosh by weeks end. Sure hope the day is off to a great start for you guys.
May goal: work through 1st part of The Diet Trap Solution
Foundation Strategies I'm practicing daily (adding one every 3 or 4 days):
1. Read my list of advantages of losing weight
2. Eat slowly while seated
3. Give myself credit during the day
4. Read my response cards (tips, tricks, and talk-backs to sabotaging thoughts)
5. Weigh Daily (see below)

5lb did not seem like much of a goal, but I had already had a whoosh and was expecting the usual looong, frustrating, hair-pulling, foot stomping, scale-throwing stall. Looks like I'm still "whooshing", and now I don't know how much to shoot for this month...(I know I won't be able to keep up this rate of wt loss forever, but I can't bear the thought of slowing down....you can imagine....) I just took up swimming, and it looks like that's doing the trick. Thank GOD! I was just diagnosed with RA and I HAVE to get this weight off. I have my first appt with the rheumatologist later today, and I'm dreading it. Cross fingers..... Ermmm, maybe not, as that's what I'm trying to avoid.
SeeMyFeet, lol! I'll try to refrain from using the "R"-oll word, lol! I'm so sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with RA. I have RA also. I am lucky to have a mild case. I do pretty well most days. Occasionally it flares and causes me problems but I don't do myself any favors because I have a fear of meds so I'm not on anything for it. The last thing I was on (years ago) was plaquenil. Now I just load up on on-the-shelf naproxen sodium if it bothers me too badly. I don't recommend doing what I'm doing though! Joy, I have stolen the trick you do of setting your fork down between bites. When I remember to do it, it works very well! I am starting to get better at remembering. NNS, your ticker is so impressive! Keep plugging away! You're doing great Delphi, my fingers are crossed for you for that whoosh! Synderella, way to go on the loss! Sum, woohoo! Those are the drops I remember you getting! Keep it going! Turtle, yay on the loss!
I was expecting a gain today after dropping after cheat day, so I am happy that it is only a half lb!

Thank you Jacqui D and Delphi. Finally feeling like I am making real progress. I am just trying not to get discouraged when I think about how much further I still have to go.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!
Thanks everyone for your kind birthday wishes. I just now got back to this long thread and saw all the wonderful things everyone said. Yes yes, they selected my birthday as star wars day. *can't help but say with a lisp* May the force with me! lol
My gym that i was going to closed and i had to switch gyms and the new one I started at is kickin my butt as i explained in another post in the exercise section:
*tried to copy a link but since i don't have 25 posts yet it failed* grrr
here is a copy of it anyway...for your reading pleasure.....cause my goal of getting out of the 300's IS GOING DOWN BABY!!! huuuahhhhh!
"New gym...new butt whippin
For the past four months I have been working out at Curves with really great results. I lost 50 pounds in 4 months and was working out 30-40 minutes, done, out the door. My gym closed May 8th and I joined another gym around the corner that is a bit more traditional with weight machines and cardio equipment. I liked it because it has people there of all ages and a lot of the ladies at Curves came over. They have classes and all kinds of options to keep me from getting bored.
Well today I went in this morning for my "equipment assessment" and met with Kevin. Now Kevin is this guy in his 50's that I would be you 10 bucks has been in the military because the guy is a moving brick wall! Don't get me wrong, a very nice moving brick wall but, a brick wall none the less. To a 5'6 and 305 pound girl like me who exercise in the past has been against my religion this guy was intimidating as HECK!
So, he starts to talk to me about metabolic this and that and putting on muscle this and that and i'm like ok and he shows me these weight machines by Technogym which cost god only knows how much. We get me all fixed up with settings and how much weight i'm gonna use and then he tells me how many times I need to do each one, blah blah. Then the treadmill stuff and the Elliptical. By the time I got finished I worked out an hour and 15 minutes and felt like I got hit by a truck. lol IT WAS GUUUUUUUDDDDD!!! hehehe
And yeah, i'm going back tomorrow for some more abuse. Let the weight keep on fallin off! Huuahhhh"
