my 21 day challenge is:
Add minimum of 10 minutes of aerobic exercise every day. 1 pause day max.
This will show on the pedometer I wear daily, too. Steps should be well above the lousy 3,000 and max 4,000 steps I've been taking.

Day 1 - 10 min on tredmill, breathing hard.

Restart: Day 1 20 minutes aerobic on bike at gym!!! Onward! breating fine.
Day 2 -
Day 3 -
Day 4 -
Day 5 -
Day 6 -
Day 7 -
Day 8 -
Day 9 -
Day 10 -
Day 11 -

Day 6--Friday, March 6: Walked into a catered meeting at work and actually resolved not to have any sweets despite the tempting cookies and fruit bars. It was a victory to be thinking about keeping my challenge beforehand, not catching myself at the last minute at the dessert table as I have before.

Day 7--Saturday, March 7: I expected to spend one of my pause days today, but stayed away from the sweets and spuds at the restaurant. So I am still on track so far.

Diana, well done getting right back on your challenge after your pause day!

Day 8--Sunday, March 8: No sweets, no spuds. Thank goodness bread and pizza don't count as potatoes or dessert, because I made terrible choices otherwise, but one small habit at a time will slowly make little differences. I am pleased to have made it out of the weekend without using a pause day. That will buy me some breathing room for a trip scheduled towards the end of the challenge that I want to enjoy with some planned sweets.

Diana, we are already one-third of the way through our challenges!
Love2Garden, go go go on your bike at the gym!

Perhaps I can substitute 1-1/2 hours of gardening for planned 10 minutes of aerobic exercise. I did bunch of walking from one end of yard to the other according to my pedometer, lots of bending to cut back Lenten Roses old foliage and hauling it over to be mulched. Putting up supports for those perennials that require help to remain erect and putting protective fence around my cinnamon ferns.

Day 9--Monday, March 9: No sweets, no spuds. I am particularly grateful to my husband, who opted not to bring a cake into the house for his birthday or buy tater tots or French fries to help me stay on track with my challenge. He is currently in the second month of a personal challenge to break his habit of drinking soda pop. So we are both striving to make better choices to be a little bit healthier.

Love2Garden, it sounds like those roses and ferns certainly gave you a great workout!

Geri, You are really rocking this challenge. I'm hoping this translates to weight loss as well.

Love2, yes, gardening is great exercise, minute for minute in some cases.

Day 10--Tuesday, March 10: No sweets, no spuds.
Day 11--Wednesday, March 11: No sweets, no spuds. My husband and I had a good conversation about whether and if so how much cake to bring into the house for his birthday. We agreed to get just enough cake that we can each have a piece for a pause day with no leftovers. Pause days are good to plan to celebrate together and stop us from feeling deprived.

That being said, Diana we are halfway through our challenge and you have only spent one pause day so far -- you are crushing this!

Love2, looking forward to your next update. It occurred to me that gardening must be the best form of exercise, because you see the benefits not only in your health, but also in the growing things of the earth. Very gratifying!

Yesterday, gym for strength building and 18 minutes aerobic on bike.

I didn't realize that I need pause days more often. Monday's gardening made Tuesday difficult to even get minor movement in.
Yesterday was fine at gym, but todayI'm sore. At 77 I probably need to try for every other day for a while then work up to daily. Still need to get house work completed, too.

Love2, It's wonderful to really understand what we need for our health by modifying habits and goals. If you need a rest every other day, how would a gentle 10 min walk work?

Pause Day--Thursday, March 12: Ugh. I set myself up for a problem. I forgot to bring my breakfast smoothie to work, so I was really hungry when a colleague innocently offered me a piece of cake. I could have said no. I should have said no. I didn't say no. And then I should not have compounded the problem by eating chocolate when I came home because I knew the day was already a loss. Unplanned pause days make me nervous.

Garden, I love your new plan for your challenge. You have to be gentle with yourself and work with your body in order to succeed, and every other day sounds perfect for your needs.

Diana, your attitude of resilience keeps me going. You are bouncing back!

Day 12--Friday, March 13: No sweets, no spuds.
Day 13--Saturday, March 14: No sweets, no spuds. I realized I am going on a vacation soon, and I do not want to waste my pause days until then. So a day I had planned to have a dessert at the restaurant turned into a day of fruit instead. You know, the banana and lychee were so sweet that I did not miss the restaurant dessert or the piece of my husband's birthday cake I had to pass up. I wonder if I can find canned lychee at my grocery store to add some variety to my mandarin cups.

Diana, go go go, you only have one week left before you conquer your challenge.

Love2Garden, we are cheering for you!
