zoesmum - exactly the same at our house, hubby works in IT and loves gadgets, and has heaps, and i have no interest. I have a blackberry through work, no choice, but only use it as a phone and for email. I probably wouldn't have a phone at all if left to my own devices! I have an electronic book reader too, but that's where it ends. I wonder how hubby ended up with me too!!

kidlets
to quote Amandie 1 cup strawberries (140g), 1 medium banana (100g max), 1/2 cup yogurt (113g), 1-2 cups (40-45g) spinach, and 1-2 sticks of carrots (depending on size and thickness of the carrots), peeled and sliced in halves (40-45g). You may need up to 1 cup of water, depending on how thick it gets, just add little by little until it is the consistency you like. If you want to use applesauce instead of water or do half/half, add 1/2 cup first then go from there. She posted about it to someone in the veggie challenged section and I just had to get details! It sounded so good! I can't wait to try it in a week! :D |
WAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I so rocked it this week! Take THAT water weight that made me gain last week! Down 5.1 pounds from last Thursday to today! :dancer: Of course, that puts me right on track had last week never happened, so not like I am really ahead any, but hey, I'll take it! :D
Today is kiddo's ballet practice (GAH! Only two more weeks until her first recital! How time flies!) which means it is my weekly "cheat" day. For those of you who don't know me, my cheat days aren't traditional in the fact that I actually cheat...I still stay 100% on plan. To me, a cheat is, I DON'T HAVE TO COOK! :woohoo: Funny how my thought process changed on that. My Thursdays used to be splurge days, then about 3 months ago, something clicked that it wasn't doing me any justice and I changed my perspective of what a cheat was. I used to go out to dinner for food...now I go out to go out and socialize. The food isn't first anymore, it is just, well...food. It isn't the reason I am there, it just happens to be there while I am there. Once I started thinking like that, staying on plan has been a breeze and my scale has thanked me. Oh what a beautiful day today shall bring! :D wolfgirl - that does sound yum...except I can't have fruits per my doctor. I miss 'em, but I know one day in the near future I can have them again. Almost a love it more that it is gone kinda thing, but at least they will be all the sweeter when I finally get to have one :D ange That's great! My long lived joke with my hubby is that I am not concerned he will cheat on me. I always know where to find him...in front of the computer. However, that does mean the computer is my only true competition...and his mistress. At least it isn't another woman  I somehow missed your comment about your friend...first...awesome that she is working to kick cancer's butt! I hope she makes it! And second, I doubt she'll be upset if she knows you are actively trying to get healthier. Truth is, she'll likely encourage you. And your diet is your diet, not her's. And you are going for the socialization, not the actual food. But none the less, I see where you are coming from, and if that is how you feel best suited to support her, by all means, do it, and I support you for that. Hope she beats this battle. kidlets, weigh when you want to each week...but Thursday is the "official" tally, so make sure it is in there by then. Only enter your weight. Miss amandie will update the formulas, because she is awesome like that. :) Hope everyone has a great weigh in...and good luck!!! |
10 more pounds till I make my 4th of July goal......my weight loss is getting slower and more sporadic closer I get to goal. Just need to remind myself this isn't a race. :)
You all are doing awesome!! |
Happy weigh in day everyone ! congrats zoesmom for getting back on track ! I can relate thnknthin1..i really miss having 5 pound a week losses. this week I am proud to report i lost 3 pounds ! Yippee..just one more pound to go and i will have lost 50% Of my total body weight ..i'm almost half the person i was march 5, 2012 the day when i decided to start my weight loss journey.

I have no idea why my weight went up this much :(

I'll switch my weigh-in to Thursdays. It won't look pretty for this week. Remember my scale issue last week? Well it happened on weigh-in day so it looked as if I had lost, but I hadn't, and I haven't yet shaken off the gain. So, I'm up OVER where I started out.
I have started logging my food again. That should help. I need to make some additional changes, but I haven't taken the time to do the planning needed for that. I will tomorrow night and when I do my weekly grocery shopping it will be for more light foods. Until then, challenges abound! We're going to a very nice steakhouse for Mother's day dinner. Nothing there is a good choice for a dieter. ((sigh)) |

They just don't advertise it ;) Sirloin (as with filet mignon) is almost always a lean cut of meat. You can get the 6 oz or 8 oz...if the later, make sure to cut it in half and save it for later. And you can almost always find fish or chicken as well. Just make sure to request they don't use any oils or butters when cooking, which is where most of the additional fat comes from. They almost always serve brocolli and carrots and squash, but fail to mention that on their menus for some crazy reason. Skip the potato or fries. Limit yourself to one roll if you MUST have a starch (another place for crazy amounts of calories and fat.)When you order your salad, ask for the dressing on the side, and then dip your fork in for every bite oppossed to dumping it over your salad. You eat a lot less fat and calories that way. Instead of a mixed drink, order wine (or, do better and order unsweetened tea, hot tea, coffee, or water with lemon.) Can anyone tell I have become an expert at being a dieter on the go with all of my kid's activities? |
zoesmom~I ususally get the 6 oz filet mignon, but often get tempted to add the crab and sauce on top (can't remember what they call that). I like the wedge salad, but it comes with bacon on it as well as the blue cheese (I do ask for the dressing on the side). The vegetables ALWAYS seem to be loaded with butter. Do they offer steamed? I'd prefer that!

thanks Thnknthin1 ! sum38...i feel for ya gains always suck but your still smaller then you were 2 weeks ago. it'll even itself out in the end, its probably all just water weight. maybe you'll see a huge woosh next week !

Down to 248.6 this morning, so I've lost just over a little 4 pounds so far. Not as fast as I'd like, but who knows what is going on with muscle gain/etc. I'm feeling awesome!

Most places do offer steamed veggies, they just don't let you know that. They try to keep it universal to keep it quick. The cook might complain, but the truth is, most people don't ask for special dietary requirements, so in a way, it is a repreive to do something different on a change. This comes from someone who grew up in the kitchen of resaurants. Usually, the server will go check in the back, but if you tell them you have a "special dietary requirement", the answer is almost always yes. You don't have to tell them you are on a diet. Using that universal term can imply anything from lactose intolerance to organic only to dieting to diabeties. And you can get the bacon on the side too ;) I know servers hate seeing me. But having working in many a restaurants, I won't ask them to do something I myself haven't done in the past, so they just need to get over it. Plus, it usually means a bigger tip. ;) I'll have to catch up on personals later...but kudos to everyone who has lost! And keep at it to those who didn't! |
I'm not on the spreadsheet yet, so I'll just use my starting weight as my weight for week 3...146 please. I'm happy to add it myself once I'm added to the spreadsheet.
ange 82& zoesmom - same here! My hubby is a techie nerd. He had to beg me to get my iPhone and then the only reason I did get it was because it was cheaper than any others when I signed up for his plan. wolfgirl - thanks! I'll have to try it! alinnell - it never hurts to ask! I'm sure they could do a side of steamed veggies for you. I don't see why not. Congrats to everyone on their losses this week. To those that didn't...go back and see where you may have gone astray this week and make a plan on how to fix it. (sorry, I"m not really a rah rah oh that's ok type of gal. I'm on these boards to be held accountable so that's where my advice comes from. Hope I'm not offending anyone.) |
Hiya ladies. Just a quick check in...congrats to all the losses! And to Zoesmom for finally weighing less than the hubby. That is a big one! :)
And to Elvislover324 for reaching Onederland!!! Can't wait for that day myself, lol. Congrats!!! Five pounds down this week myself (yay!). But I'm more proud of the fact that this week I started running for 1/2 hours straight (5 on the treadmill). I've only been doing 15 minutes a day for the past month, so doubling it is a huge accomplishment to me, especially at my weight! And the other thing I'm really proud of is that I totally planned to cheat last night. We were going out to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants and I was allowing myself a cheat night. When we got there though, I ordered an all veggie burrito, and then removed the tortilla and just ate the veggies, beans with some salsa (not even any sour cream. Who am I?!?!?). So afterwards, I felt pretty good. :D |
