April Weight Loss Challenge

March seems to have flown by, and I can't believe we're at April already! The weather is warming (ok, some days!) and it's a great time to set goals, make them happen, and put ourselves on the path to being slimmer for summer! This monthly challenge has seen some awesome successes and has provided motivation for many of us to just stay on track and keep our long-term goals in sight, and I can't wait to see how everyone does this month!

The rules of our challenge are simple. We are here to provide each other some accountability along the path to weight loss, so just set a weight loss related goal(s) and I'll add it to our goal list for the month of April. When you reach your goal for the month it will be turned RED in our goal list!

We will have a sister thread for exercise goals, April Exercise Challenge, and all your exercise-related goals can be posted there; this thread is for weight loss goals specifically.

We love to hear about your success as well as your challenges throughout the month, so please share them with us. We're here to support and encourage each other to be our best.

Good luck to everyone in April!

chickadee32 03-31-2012 07:36 AM

I won't be home tomorrow morning to weigh, so my starting weight this morning is 143.5 lbs and my goal is to get under 140 lbs this month. Not sure it's do-able at all with how things have been going lately, but there's definitely no harm in shooting for it!!

minoja75 03-31-2012 07:48 AM

I'm in for April! I haven't done my last weigh in for March yet but am hoping for good results.

April goal -10 pounds.

Good luck everyone!

InControl2Day 03-31-2012 07:49 AM

Good luck with your goal chickadee and all the others who join this thread!

Starting Weight: 126.6 lbs
Goal Weight: Actual Weigh-In
4.08 - 126.0:
4.15 - 125.0:
4.22 - 124.0:
4.29 - 123.0:

My ultimate goal is to get past 125 (never done before) and be below that line ALL month with hopes of inching closer to my goal weight :)

aniela26 03-31-2012 08:32 AM

Count me in! Last weigh in for March is 208. My goal for the end of April is to be under 205. Here we go....!

philana 03-31-2012 10:18 AM

Count me in! I need to stay on plan, I've been on plan for 2 weeks and am not seeing any loss, I know that any day now I am gonna feel like 'nothing works' while I know I need patience. So I am joining this to stay on plan. All my goals for a certain weight are impossible to determine since I appearantly am losing a thousand times slower than when started this journey.

Obviously it would be great if I could lose like 5 to 10 lbs. But if I don't that's fine too. I started weight lifting this week so my body will be in a rut anyhow.

CW: 141.5
GW: 135

PaintedButterfly 03-31-2012 12:32 PM

O0o can I join? I've been finding daily weighing disheartening and the 12 weeks to take off challenge just ended so I'm looking for a new one! Also excitingly I just broke through a plateau but now need the added motivation (and kick up the ***!!!) to keep going down. I considered joining the sarg's bootcamp thing but I'm more than a bit confused by it tbh and maybe a short term thing would be better for me like this! I'm not really sure how to lay this out. Do we weigh in weekly? What day? When you say there's a list chickadee where is that?
I'll go see if I can find the exercise thread cos I really want to up my exercise and REALLY need the accountability.

Anyway here we go:
Current weight 31/03/12: 143.2
Goal weight for 01/05/12: 139.2

Yup I'm just going for 4lbs cos more than that (for me) is unrealistic I've found especially after this awful plateau plus anyway I can always up it when I hit it! Also I'll just be so excited to finally get beneath 140.

chickadee32 03-31-2012 01:10 PM

PaintedButterfly: You can weigh as frequently or infrequently as you choose - totally up to you! I will make a list that captures everyone's goals tomorrow or Monday and post it here. If the April Exercise Challenge thread isn't up yet, it will be later today or tomorrow! gardenerjoy runs the exercise challenge, so just look for the April thread from her. :)

philana: We're right about at the same spot, and the weight is coming off exceedingly slowly at this point for me too. It took me three weeks to see a loss recently, and I'd just be thrilled if I could lose a pound every week! Metabolic adaptation is what I'm chalking it up to these days (which means the past two days, lol, I have a different theory all the time!). Anyway, I'll be right there with you this month. :)

I'll check in with everyone else and make the goal list tomorrow or Monday, whenever I'm at a computer again!

viklane 03-31-2012 02:27 PM

I'd love to join.

I've just started my plan and I'm going to start running again, so I'm going to be a little ambitious and shoot for 2.5 pounds a week. My weight tracking day will be Monday, but I find that if I don't weigh daily I tend to go off track.

Total Goal: 12.5 pounds in April.

nicolae 03-31-2012 02:29 PM

im up for this one!

starting weight:182lbs
6th april:180lbs
13th april:178lbs
20th april: 176lbs
27th april: 174lbs

dcapulet 03-31-2012 02:30 PM

Hi everyone -

I'm in for April! I'm starting at 237.8, so I want to crack the 220's - so 8lbs :)

PaintedButterfly 03-31-2012 02:47 PM

Thanks for explaining chickadee :)

I tend to weigh every day too but I find just recording once a week is best for me so we sound similar :). I think I'll do Monday's as weigh days too cos it's always good to do it with others I find and hopefully a few people will weigh in on the same day :)

Aunrio 03-31-2012 04:25 PM

I think I need more accountability for my goal. I'd like to lose 1 pound per week in April

philana 03-31-2012 04:34 PM

I am already excited about this ladies!

chickadee:I am so impressed by what you achieved already! I can't even imagine having so much willpower! I don't know if there's any difference between our bodies at this point given that you come from a higher starting weight, but it's nice to see we are at the same place right now! I could use some support. I just looked over my journals and I've been battling these few lbs since january actually. I've not been on plan the entire time but I am pretty sure I've been onplan for atleast 6 weeks and when I was offplan I did not eat all thise onplan calories back. So I am a bit baffled by the slowness of this.

KymmLynn 04-01-2012 12:40 AM

I would like to join. I'm a newbie to the site and am looking to jump start my weight loss. I hope joining the forum gives me some accountability.

My April goal is to loss 8-10 pounds. About 2 a week.

minoja75 04-01-2012 08:01 AM

Weigh in today and 6 pounds gone! So happy to see results. So April goal will be to get to 229.

Good luck to all!

Jester 04-01-2012 08:05 AM

I weighed in at 161.25 this morning, and by the end of April I would like to be 156.25, so I'm aiming for a loss of 5 lbs. My loss is starting to slow, but I think 5 is definitely do-able.

JayTee 04-01-2012 09:06 AM

Hiya Chick! So good to find some familiar faces! Good ole' Sarge is gonna lay low and sneak under the barbwire into your group with a promise to drop 10 of the 20 that has crept back on over the last few months. So, my April promise is a 10 pound loss!

hbr777 04-01-2012 09:19 AM

I am happy to see this challenge and Chickadee, what better inspiration than to look at what you have accomplished!

I am 8 pounds from goal. I am perimenopausal, and hypothyroid, so losing is a real challenge for me. It didn't used to be that way, but now....

My goal for April is to remove 3 more pounds to get to 145. I am eating low carb.

I will weigh in on Tuesdays.

AilsaPearl 04-01-2012 11:39 AM

Hey everyone! I am currently about 148 and my goal for april is going to be to get below 145 and stay there the whole month- no bouncing back up! that's only 3-4 lbs but 145 is my original UGW and the mental satisfaction will be awesome to finally reach that! :)

PaintedButterfly 04-01-2012 12:11 PM

O0o there's a few of us in the 140s it seems which is exciting :D. Good motivation :)

ItsMyTurn 04-01-2012 12:54 PM

Chickadee - Here I am! I am in! This morning 190.2... finally think I am going to be busting through plateau officially. Told you I felt the changing and that was 1.2lbs down for me now... let's keep it rolling. I am not going to shoot too high since first month breaking the plateau I have been on since December - so I am shooting for 187! Let's do this!!!!! :)

ashori602 04-01-2012 12:57 PM

Okay so i'm currently 170.6 and I want to get down to 166.6 good luck everyone!

Marniadec 04-01-2012 01:13 PM

Hey, jumping in here, too. I want to allow me not to lose weight after Easter and I then ease back into it, so I'm going for 4.6 lbs. I actually want to lose more than this, but I'm doing this thing where I'm trying to not aim ridiculously high and get disappointed. Judging by how long it took me to finish this post, it doesn't appear to be working:p

Starting Weight: 191.6 lbs

4.08- 190.1:
4.15- 188.6: 188.1
4.22- 188.6:
4.29- 187.0:

I want to get out of these danged 140s. ARGH!

amanda1230 04-01-2012 04:15 PM

I would like to join, I was previously following the Ideal protein diet but I just can't take eating that strictly and so few calories right now (only ~800 a day) and was frustrated that I wasn't supposed to work out. So now I am counting calories and working out 1-2 times a day instead. Anyways my goal for the end of April is 5 pounds 167 starting 162 goal!

viklane 04-01-2012 04:16 PM

"Luckily" I went up a bit yesterday despite eating well and exercising, so it must be the start of my lady times, but it does put me in a good spot for my April goals.

gardenerjoy 04-02-2012 12:04 AM

My average weight since getting back from Kansas City has been right about 75 kilograms and this is a weight that makes me very happy. So my goal for April is to weigh under 75.1 kgs for 14 days or more.

LeeciesLosingIt 04-02-2012 04:25 AM

Count me in... My goal is to lose 10 + LBS in the month of April, and with all the candy and baked goods I am gonna do my best to stay on plan... ;-)

chickadee32 04-02-2012 05:10 PM

Finally back to a computer! I ended up staying in town this weekend to take care of my friend's son while she was at the hospital having her second child. The toddler was no problem at all, but the constant conversation with my friend's recently retired, late 70-something year old mother EXHAUSTED me!! If had to hear one more time about how the reason she was having to pay workers compensation back taxes is because everything in New Jersey is controlled by the mafia, I might have lost my mind. I'm very happy to be back in my own house where I don't have to talk to anyone.

Anyhow, I don't have time ATM to do much more than post the goal list, but quickly though I have to say that I think it's awesome to see so many people here with goals on the smaller side this month - because many people this month are near or close to their goal weight or a normal BMI, and there are those who have already lost a bunch and are fighting to keep losing after many, many months of calorie deficits. Our January challenge was full of some big numbers and awesome successes, but you see some of those people who start off great at the beginning of the year and then drop off... and I just LOVE seeing so many people who are committed to continuing to fight. It's just a really awesome, inspiring thing for me.

philana: I would suspect there is a difference in the degree of metabolic adaptation, but I'm honestly guessing at just about everything most of the time, so who knows? I guess the important thing is that we're just continuing to battle the lbs, no matter what, and even if it takes a while we WILL get these last stubborn pounds off. It's just measured in months at this point it seems rather than weeks, at least for me!

Sarge: Yay, hi!! You know I'm going to make your eyes bleed here, right?? I'm so happy to see you though! You're going to kick @ss on those 10 lbs and show 'em how it's done. :D

ItsMyTurn: Woohoo, so glad to have you back! I'm so happy for you that you seemed to have figured things out, and I know this month is going to go really well for you. :)

OK, more later. Good luck to EVERYONE this month, and I'll be back to update further later tonight!

Goal weight by april 30: 244 lbs

Helllo everyone! I am in again. I never got to check in for the final day of the March challenge. We ended up moving into our new home over the weekend so I was super busy. I did not readch my goal of 169. Missed it by 2 lbs :( This month I am going to keep it simple and say I was to see 168 by the end of the month.
hope you all have a great week

PrincessSophia 04-03-2012 12:12 AM

Please, count me in. I want to be ~ 135 lb by end of April. I hope it is achievable.

chickadee32 04-03-2012 12:13 AM

viklane: Don't be discouraged if you hold on to the weight for a little bit given that you've just started running again! For me at least, anytime I really switch things up with the exercise it takes my body a little bit of time to adjust.

KymmLynn: Welcome to 3FC!! This forum is AMAZING for support; I don't think I could have been as successful with my weight loss without it. I hope you really enjoy it here, and I wish you much success! :)

minoja: Awesome job on the 6 lbs last month!

hbr777: Already being at a normal weight BMI-wise definitely contributes to the slowness too! We just don't have as much room to create a huge calorie deficit. I know those extra challenges can make it really tough though; kudos to you for continuing to fight!

Alisa: You're so close, and I can't wait to celebrate with you when you reach your original UGW this month!!! What are you thinking about doing after that?

amanda: I know different plans work well for different people, but holy smokes - I would have been a miserable, cranky b*tch on 800 cals/day! I hope the switch to calorie counting works well for you! :)

delyn: Fingers crossed! If you feel like you're starting to struggle, let us know and we'll see if we can offer some support/help!

Leecie: Your post made me think about the holidays... I'm Jewish, and I've always found it ironic that the Easter candy is always located RIGHT next to the Passover foods, as though to tease us Jews who can't eat any of that deliciousness during Passover... but this year I'm really glad that I can't even be tempted by the chocolate, LOL!! I just have to get through the seders next weekend (and the three kosher-for-Passover desserts I'm making on Saturday ), and then it will be protein and veggies for a week straight - which should help me stay on track, even if that's not the point, lol.

sun: You were really sick more than half the month of March, so you did pretty awesome considering!! I hope the move went well this weekend, and I REALLY hope this is a nice, healthy month for you!! :)

PaintedButterfly and Philana, I am with you on wanting to get out of the 140s!! I've only been in them for a month, so a lot less time than I spent in the 150s (more than 2 months!), but I'm definitely ready to move in to the 130s. Tonight I made a little progress... weight after my run was 142.9, yay!! Once again, I don't care if it was the water I sweated out - I will take whatever I can get right now!!!

Chickadee - YOU, my darling, are an inspiration!!!! I have no doubt you will have no issues getting into 130s!!!! My goals are small cause my loss is naturally slow with the RA obstacle, for some reason that likes to hold on to anything I have - I, on the other hand, disagree with my body and would like to see it GO, I bet I win, I am a stubborn sort, Have an awesome day!!!

JayTee 04-03-2012 07:47 AM

One day at a time peeps ... make it a good one!

Chick -- Sarge's eyes won't bleed here. He knows what he signed up for. It's just good to have a place to report each week to stay focused and accountable. Your pictures are amazing btw!! What a journey you've been on and look at all the "followers" you have on this thread.

Thanks for that. I've been pretty sore, so I've heard that that can cause water retention as well. I've finally had a bit of a drop, though:
