 Marniadec, I am the same way with the scale! I know what the advice *should* be, just not how to ever implement it myself. ;) Heh, that's pretty awesome about your mom and aunt - your mom must love it. :D And I'm jealous you're able to show your legs! I still can't wear anything that shows my knees unless I'm wearing stockings, and it makes me sad that even at a normal weight I can't wear shorts. :( I am seriously considering having plastic surgery on them at some point - despite the expense and time off from work and the pain during recovery, it seems like it would be worth it if I could wear shorts and a bathing suit with more confidence.

Weighing in :)
Start Weight: 143.2 02/04/12: 142.6 09/04/12: 142.0 16/04/12: 23/04/12: 30/04/12:139.2 1.2lbs loss so far :) |
good job paintedbutterfly!
minoja and marnia- the same thing happened to me, for me it was when I was at my highest the scale said I was only 182 and then I went to a friend's house to find out I was almost 190. that really pisses me off, you feel like it's really not your fault because the dumb scale was lying. but you can do it, NO problem! y'all got this! chickadee- I'm excited for you to see your family again and show them your accomplishment! I bet they will be blown away by how great you look. Today I weighed in at 145.8. It's the first morning- empty stomach- weigh in I've done in a few weeks and I feel really good about that! I've got 3 more Mondays to weigh in and my goal for April was to get to and stay below 145, and I really think I can get there if I keep working hard. Good luck to everyone weighing in this week, stay strong! :) |
minoja75: a great lesson in the theory that the scale number is simply data!
ItsMyTurn: no dairy and no creamy stuff is a tough challenge. The first several solutions I came up with wouldn't work because they involved one or the other. It is possible to make your own mayo, but I haven't done it. With that, of course, you could make your own creamy dressings and dips. I was careful at a family gathering yesterday and got a down-tic on the scale this morning. A small one, but definitely down! That gives me a small sense of victory so I strive for it again the next holiday. That makes 8 of the 14 days in April that I wanted to weigh in below 75.1. |
chickdee how exciting about meeting your friends and family and them seeing you at such a healthy weight. Sounds so nice and you will be getting so many compliments! I am sorry you feel your knees are not presentable. I kind of feel that way about my mommy belly. I got massive stretch marks on my belly at the end of my pregnancy but at the same time I really don'
t care if I never wear a bikini. Lets see when I get to goal. minojaaw that sucks about the scale :( but it doesn't change how much you lost! Just keep going :) itsmyturn 7 inches of your waist?! OMG! that is alot. Skinny you are ~:) marniadecf Way to go on the weight loss! steph way to go on the maintenance. Its so gratifying when you keep whjat you lost off! ailsapearl How awesome! You are going to get below your monthly goal! Very encouraging for me :) keep it up gardenerjoy Isn't it such a gratifying feeling to stay on pl;an even at gatherings? What a nice victory Ok ladies! So I have been good but have had some major bloat going on and am at 174! ugh hopefuly all the water I have been chugging will pay off and I will see it go away soon. I worked out like a devil at the gym today and it felt great~ I love the gym :) what a great stress relief. Hope you all ahve a great week! |
PaintedButterfly: Nice job!
Alisa: Thank you! And YAY!! Your goal seems like it's totally within reach! gardenerjoy: Way to go on eating well at the family event! Those little downward movements on the scale are SUCH a nice reward. :D sun: Oh, my stomach is a mess too. But like you, it's not like I really care about wearing a bikini or not, so oh well! And I'm sooo with you on the gym being a great stress reliever! I hope it does good things for the bloat. :) So, TOM finally finally came today! :carrot: Only 3 weeks overdue, lol. The good news that comes with it is that I'll get my protocol this week for my upcoming IVF cycle. The bad news is that on Wednesday I'll start another 7 weeks of hormones, which are going to make my weight do nutty things. :dizzy: |
oops..i haven't stopped by here in awhile!!
so this past weekend was pretty bad for me. family came over which pretty much means i spent my weekend eating delicious yet not so good for you food. however, i am weighing in at 155.6 today!!! i've been putting more effort into my workouts & have been more strict with what i'm eating. i'm only 0.2lbs away from my next mini-goal as well! so hopefully i can hit that tomorrow (: |
didn't do so well the past 2 nights...late night snacking has gotten the best of me! thankfully it's just been fruit, nuts, and skinny cow chocolate... could be worse! But being just 1lb away from my UGW makes me motivated and then again I feel so close that i slack. I need to kick it into gear tomorrow!
|
chickadee It must be so nervewracking to be going through fertility treatment and weight loss. It will all be worth it in the end and I am sending lots of good vibes and love you to.
So I ahve been hitting the gym really hard and am looking forward to my Saturday weigh in. My family is coming over for the weekend and I am know I am not going to be eating clean so I am trying to log as much bexercise as possible to combat those 3 dys. haha. Hope you all are doing great |
delyn: I think lots of us had that kind of weekend - I know I did! I'm glad you're seeing the payoff of the extra exercise on the scale though, and I hope your weigh-in today brought good mini-goal news!
Ailsa: It definitely could be worse than that, lol. You're so close though - I know you can fight through and hit your goal!! sun: Thank you, very much. It's stressful sometimes, but having the weight loss to focus on between cycles has helped to keep me sane I think. And exercise. Thank god for exercise. I'm impressed that you've managed to plan ahead and bank some extra calorie burn for the weekend! I hope the weigh-in on Saturday goes really well. :) I head home tomorrow, and so will be checking in only kind of sporadically through Sunday. I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!! |
I don't know why my luck with scales is so bad. After the fiasco with the analog scale I had last year, I got a digital scale this March. It was awesome, but it kept saying that the batteries are dead. I took it back to where I bought it from so they would fix it. In the meantime, I weighed myself on my parents' scale. It said that I didn't gain at all, despite the binge. Then on Tuesday, I got my scale back. It's still annoying, but at least it won't tell me to throw away full batteries every other day.
Anyway, I stepped on it and it turns out I GAINED 6,6 LBS. That was Tuesday. Today, I'm down 4,4 lbs. It has to be bloating, because I did overeat, but the most I overate was on Sunday and that was by 700 calories. The other 2 days, it was more like 400 extra calories. How can I have gained 6,6 lbs? I hate scales! |
crud...back up to 149.2 this morning...3.2lbs heavier than monday. I know it's not possible that i've gained that much fat even though I've eaten bad Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. Man I am so close to my goal! Why can't I just stay on track? totally my fault...gotta try to kick it into gear today!
|
Marniadec and Alisa, neither of you gained 3+ lbs over the course of a few days unless you were eating 3500 calories ABOVE your maintenance calories each day - and I'm sure you weren't! It's bloat/water retention/whatever from the larger than usual meals and different foods. My scale jumped up and stayed up for several days after over-eating at our seder on Friday, and it just dropped back down this morning. You are going to see these kinds of fluctuations if you weigh daily and especially following a big meal or a few bad days or very different foods, so don't sweat them! When your eating gets back on track to your normal, the number on the scale will follow given a little bit more time. :)
My scale did finally go down this morning - to 139.8!! Finally in the 130s, yay!! Now let's see if I can keep it there after this weekend away, lol. |
I'm at my parents' and I'm fasting, so the food is certainly different and I went on a 2-3 binge, so I'm pretty certain it's bloating. I'm a little scared that I might have gained something because I have Hashimoto's and my symptoms are pretty bad lately, so I may gain easily. I'm also expecting TOM, so I'm about to bloat due to that, too and it will take a while to find out if/how much I gained. What is for sure is that I won't make my 2nd goal. So, all in all I'm a bit bummed. =/
Yay for 130's! May you have a nice, long stay there!!! |
Up a pound this week - 207.5. Easter weekend at my parent's house in NY and all the candy that's been around this week just killed me! At least it was only a pound...getting back on track for next Friday's weigh in!
|
:high: everyone!
weighed in today at 232.5 - next week, I am going to try so hard to get to that 229! |
You can do it dcapulet! Looks like we started out at the same weight...I am an inch shorter than you though :(
|
aniela26, I feel you. I'm at my parents' for 2 weeks. There's three kinds of dessert in the house. It's ridiculous. I'm fasting, so I can't eat any of it, but I'll break the fast tomorrow night. I'm also PMSing and seeing as how PMS and fasting don't go together, I'll hope I'll still be alive to tell the story on Sunday.:p
dcapulet, way to go! So, I baked my first bread. :D It was freezing today and an oven thingie broke and by the time we replaced it it was too late to let it warm up inside, so it didn't grow huge like it was supposed to and I'm too impatient to wait longer than eleventy hours, so I just threw it in the oven... It's not very well baked inside, but it has the most perfectest crust I've ever eaten and it tastes good and I had more than a quarter of it with honey and now I want to die. Hopefully because I ate too much. I'm still within my calories, though. For dinner I'll have just bread, without the honey. I'm really proud of my under-baked bread.:p |
Chickadee - I hope you have a fabulous time going back home!!! I bet you will amaze them as much as you inspire us! :) Hooray for hitting the 130's!!! I KNEW you would do it!!!! :carrot:
gardenerjoy - For our food restrictions, my DH doesn't eat any mayo... he won't even let me make it for him homemade. We get him Italian salad dressing (no creamy) so he can have "regular stuff" with us (his words, lol... such a kid sometimes). For me and my DD, we buy lactose free yogurt, use almond milk, etc. Just a major pain sometimes to have the adjustments Sun - I am FAR from skinny.. which is what I keep laughing at DH for when he says it, but grateful he does see such a huge difference. Over 7" off my waist is a ton of inches, but then again, I started with a triple ton of inches to lose, Great job staying with workouts even when you were feeling the bloat so bad earlier in the week! That's awesome! Still no movement on the scale... and am <> close to saying "to heck with the scale" for a bit. It's almost like a compulsion to check though... want so badly to see it drop. I am literally working my @ss off, and muscle is building without doubt.. getting definition in my arms and legs I have never seen, that annoying back-roll is no longer sucking in part of my bra strap  Progress IS being made since I made adjustments... just not reflecting on that scale...and yet... I want it to. So... sticking to it, I will DEMAND to see that number fall back into the 180s if it kills me, Last night I did Tae Bo with weighted gloves - everything burned... and took my DS hostage to do it with me  And then our cool down was a walk with the dog... my DS just LOVES our "quality time", Have a super great weekend and stay safe and healthy!!! |
for some reason, this week has just been so off for me! I have a stress fracture in my foot and haven't been able to do the cardio and exercise I usually do, over an hour a day usually. I have been overeating almost every day and going over my calorie limit by a TON. I mean like 1000's here! I haven't stuffed myself to the point of sickness or binged, I'm just really off whack right now. admitting that I'm doing it and that it's bothering me really isn't making me do better the next day, I feel like I'm not in control, which sounds so stupid! I DO have control over food and what goes into my body, and just because there is some good food that I like there, does not mean that I'm hungry or that I have to eat it. So take THAT you yummy food that I have been eating nonstop the past 5 days...this weekend is not going to throw me off the wagon. I do NOT want to end up gaining weight this month, even though I know stepping on the scales monday morning is going to be a horror lol...
where has my motivation gone...all I want to do is eat! |
Weigh in day today and down 5 pounds, met my weekly goal! Now just 5 more to go to reach my April goal...
|
Alisapearl...hang in there, you will get back on track maybe you just needed a break from all the diet stuff to get your motor running again....You do have control you just let the food borrow the control for a minute now take it back and you will be right back on track!
|
So, I made my goal. :D I wanted to be at 188.6 and the scale said 188.1. Twice! skjdsdfwj Off to pig out on stuff, now, it's Easter! :p
|
Weigh day :)
Start Weight: 143.2 02/04/12: 142.6 09/04/12: 142.0 16/04/12: 141.8 23/04/12: 30/04/12:139.2 1.4lbs loss so far :) |
Phew! Down 2 and back into the 170's! Must keep going!
|
minoja - I often think that too when I see your stats - we ARE very close in start AND progress!
I had the weirdest NSV today - I was in the city, wearing a cute dress, no stockings (79 here today) and my underwear kept falling down! I have been getting rid of clothes that were too big, but never thought about undies!! Breaking out the older, stored away "skinner" undies right now! |
dcapulet: I love the underwear NSV. I think you totally deserve some sexy new ones for that! :D I will be rooting for the 220s for you!!
Marniadec: Yum, bread!! That sounds way too good, even underbaked, lol. And congratulations on meeting your April goal!!! :carrot: You are RED below!! :D ItsMyTurn: Thank you!! OK, so does your husband just not like the creamy stuff, or is it that he can't have it? I am totally fine with working around true food allergies/intolerances, but there are SO many picky eaters in my mom's family... it drives me nuts when "we can't go to that restaurant, because Grandma doesn't eat any sauce and your cousin doesn't eat anything red." Literally. You're so accommodating!!! Re the scale... mine was stuck for SO long, and even when I would see a tiny downward movement it would pop right back up the next day... but then my body must have adjusted or something, and I've now had pretty steady losses since the end of February. I am just waiting for that to happen for you - it HAS to at some point! You're losing inches, so you know something is happening there... I think all of a sudden you're going to see a loss and then things will just keep moving from there. Fingers crossed it's this week!!!! minoja: Nice job on hitting your weekly goal! :) PaintedButterfly: You're doing great, keep it up!! Sarge: Woohoo on the 2 lbs this week, and congrats on being back in the 170s!!! I think I actually did pretty well food-wise while visiting my family this weekend, despite eating FIVE meals out at restaurants in the space of 3 days, oy. I probably didn't have any calorie deficit, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't above maintenance calories overall for the weekend. And, I got in a 7 mile run on the treadmill on Saturday with my sister, so hopefully that helped things a bit too. If the scale is still in the 130s tomorrow, I'm calling that goal met for April. :) Updated April Weight Loss Goal List minoja75: Get to 229 lbs InControl2Day: Get and stay below 125 lbs aniela26: Get under 205 lbs philana: Get to 135 lbs PaintedButterfly: Lose 4 lbs viklane: Get to 222.1 lbs nicolae: Get to 174 lbs dcapulet: Lose 8 lbs Aunrio: Lose 1 lb per week KymmLynn: Lose 8-10 lbs Jester: Lose 5 lbs JayTee: Lose 10 lbs hbr777: Lose 3 lbs AilsaPearl: Get to and stay below 145 lbs ItsMyTurn: Get to 187 lbs ashori602: Get to 166.6 lbs Marniadec: Lose 4.6 lbs amanda1230: Lose 5 lbs delyn: Get to 150 lbs gardenerjoy: Be under 75.1 kgs for 14 days or more LeeciesLosingIt: Lose 10 lbs or more chickadee32: Get below 140 lbs KaylaxoLynn: Get to 244 lbs sun: Get to 168 lbs PrincessSophia: Get to 135 lbs Steph7409: Get to 144 lbs SBD Sass: Lose 10 lbs or get to 160 lbs loose seal: Seeing the scale go down! so today i got back on track after a week of terrible overeating and no exercise. i'm at 149 which is 4 lbs shy of my goal for April, but I am just going to eat my daily calorie allowance (1500), exercise, and if the # on the scale doesn't change, so be it! one day at a time! i think i get overwhelmed easily and forget that it's a lifetime journey of weightloss and maintenance and that sometimes we just need to cut ourselves a little slack.
chickadee - congrats on staying in the 130's despite all the restaurant food! congrats to everyone reaching their weekly goals! that's great |
 thanks chick!
Ailsa - It's good that you are not being overly hard on yourself. THINGS will always come up, and you're learning to cope. I applaud you :) Me- my leg is swollen :/ I was on it all day yesterday, so I know it's repairing itself, but I'm retaining some water in it, and it feels weird. 88 here today in NY! If this is April, what's going on for JULY?!?!?! |
I had several days in a row over my magic number of 75.1 kilograms, but I slipped below this morning!
I'm at 11 of the 14 days this month that I want to be below 75.1 kgs. |
chickadee, I didn't really meet my monthly goal. Just my weekly one.:p I have 0.2 lbs to go for the monthly one. Oh, the bread was great! It tastes even better when it's baked! I barely got to try it, I made it yesterday. My mom brought it to the neighbors we were celebrating Easter with and it disappeared before we got to the main meal.:p Congrats on making it through the weekend! You even went to the gym! If I go away on a weekend I get on ~vacation mode~ and I'm like: "well, I walked to the cafeteria, then the tavern and then home. That's 30 minutes of cardio right there". How did everyone react to seeing you so thin?:p
dcapulet, yay for big panties! What's wrong with your leg, if you don't mind me asking? In any case, I hope it gets well soon! :) AilsaPearl, I've also come to the same realization. I'm a bit of a type A personality and this effort to lose weight had brought it out in me in the worst way possible. I pretty much abused myself for a few months. Then I decided to relax. This is not something that will last x months and then it will be over and our lives will begin. We are living right now. If we overeat on a special occasion, or during TOM, or just any day, really, so what? Who doesn't do that? As long as we don't give up, we'll be fine. Congrats to everyone who met their goals! I dropped more weight today! Well, 0.9 lbs, but still. It's going to go up by at least 4.4 lbs soon, because TOM will be here on Thursday, but whatevs. I seem to have hurt my ankle, but I don't remember when or how... It's been a week now and it gets worse every day. I've been li:p.mping for days and today it's even swollen. I wonder if it burns calories?:p |
The. Scale. Moved. Down.
 It read a solid 155 Sat. morning. Am suckin' it up buttercup and going for 154 for this coming Saturday. :crossed: eta: holy cow, I get to change my ticker after weeks upon weeks of it remaining the same! Whoot! |
Hi Marni- I have a connective tissue disease, and sometimes my joints become swollen. Things have gotten A LOT better since I really reduced my carbs, but I was on my feet in not the best shoes for hours yesterday, so my one leg is a little swollen. It's usually both legs, but it seems I overused just the one. Heat and humidity also mess things up, and it's 88 here today! Thanks for the well wishes!

I had some that were doing that along with a pair of jeans that kept sliding down. What a sight I must have been trying to keep up as my dog was walking me . . . yanking them up over and over again. |
LOL, I was definitely NOT in the 130s this morning!! I think it's just the carb re-load though from Passover ending on Saturday night, as there is no chance I gained 2.5 lbs of fat this weekend with how carefully I was eating. Grumble grumble though... I hate when the scale goes up like that!
Alisa: SO TRUE. I really need to remember that as well. loose seal: YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!! So super happy to hear that!! You met your goal and you are RED below!! All of your persistence through the frustration paid off, and I'm so thrilled for you. gardenerjoy: Woohoo on 11 of 14 days!! You're so far ahead this month - we're only halfway through! You've been doing an AWESOME job. dcap: Ouch, I'm sorry your leg is swollen and feeling so off. :( Will you be able to get some time off your feet this week to help get the swelling down? Marniadec: Oops, sorry about the monthly vs. weekly goal! You're so close though, you're going to be there quite soon. :D And yikes on the ankle! Maybe you should see a doctor about it, especially given that it's getting worse? People were surprised seeing me this weekend, and that was fun. :) Funny though, it's still my mom who comments the most, and she's seen me more frequently than anyone else back home! I think it's just that she never thought I'd lose the weight, so it's still weird for her that I have. Actually, here is a photo of me, my dad and my sister from this weekend (http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/...1512046_ed.jpg My sister is the blonde). She has always been the small one, and it's weird now that I can borrow tops from her! Not pants though - my lower half will always be bigger than hers. |
Does anyone else NOT count the amount of calories they are eating? I didn't pay attention to them only to my carb number and today I was curious about how many calories I eat on a typical day so I added one of them up and it came out to about 1200 so I think I am doing pretty good but it hadn't even occurred to me to keep track. Do you think that's important or just really the carb count?:chin:
|
I find I can maintain more or less (1-2lbs within range) if I eat only when hungry in small portions of the right stuff, but I simply cannot lose unless I count and am as exact as possible. Maybe it would work for you, but personally to lose any weight I need to log and count everything I eat or it turns into "oh yeah I forgot about that ___ I ate" or you grab a few extra of something without thinking cause you're not writing it all down. That's just my experience though!
|
Hey everyone~!
I have been doing so bad hahha. My uncle and his family were in town for 4 days and they came all the way from India and so we went crazy doing all kinds of fun stuff and eating at all kinds of places. I don't even want to step on the scale till the end of the week(if even then). Tomorrow hitting the gym hard! Hope you all had a great weekend. |
Im in, I need motivation!:)
|
chickadee -- you look FANTASTIC! You've lost 141 lbs.? My hat is off to you for your persistence and determination. You must feel so good about it!! :carrot:
Yeah, I did finally get the scale to move. I tightened up the eating (although I had been OP for 80% of the time anyway . . ) and changed up my exercise again. Since I'm at a point where I can actually run for 30 mins (instead of weeks and weeks of working my way up to that), I cut the running to 1-2 days/week and went back to the stuff I had been doing earlier when the scale was moving for me. That and the fact that my period had gotten really, really weird last month .... hmmm, makes me wonder if hormones weren't also playing a part in the fat hanging on . . . and on . . . and on. :dizzy: |
