I need to be more consistent with exercising. I'm having a hard time with motivation on those dreary wet winter days - which means every day where I live. lol

I watched "Touch" too Sarge & really liked it! I don't understand why they put the pilot on so early tho & don't plan to start the series until March 19th. That's almost 2 months between the pilot & series start - when they'll show the pilot again.

Maggy & Sumnerfan-- The easiest way Sarge found to get "hooked" on strength training for awhile by joining fitocracy and work to earn points each day. Here's Sarge's platoon page and invite code if you want to get involved: http://www.fitocracy.com/group/674/ If that doesn't work try fitocracy.com and use invite code: SARGE to get involved. We had quite a craze going for awhile but it does get tedious logging daily workouts. On the otherhand, if it's worth 5-10 lbs. and some muscle definition for a month or so, DO IT!

Well, it's not for lack of trying; I've maintained a calorie deficit of about ~1000/day, and am running, walking, biking, eliptical-ing and strength training, so I'm doing all I can. The good news is that from the perspective of my IVF cycle my body is responding very well to the meds in the ways that count, and that's what really matters right now. So I guess I can live with the screwiness it causes on the scale.

Anon: You look fantastic!!

sumner: I initially started strength training with a trainer at the gym - I had her set up a workout for me there with machines and free weights. But for the last ~4 months I've been focusing more on bodyweight exercises at home. My old boss gave me a great book, You Are Your Own Gym, that has tons of bodyweight exercises (with tips and variations to make them easier and harder as necessary) and several workout plans. I tend to stick to the more straightforward stuff (my usual routine lately is pushups, tricep dips, squats, lunges, one-legged romanian deadlifts, plus some rows with handweights and various crunches), but I love getting new ideas from the book when I want something different. I really feel like even those basic exercises have been excellent for building muscle. Don't be nervous to start - just get going with whatever you can do, and I am certain you'll see progress quickly.

Fine, here are some photos. I did crop my head off (har har) since everybody can see the pictures not only the platoon or 3FCers. But you can see I am a lot smaller. Roughly 25 inches (chest, waist & hips) lost, 72 lbs, from a tight 16 down to a size 8/6.

before:

after:

I am not done yet though. I want to concentrate more on fitness and toning my body but probably try to get down to 155 or 150 lbs. I figured the middle of normal BMI is a safer place than the top :-)

Nice losses everybody!

mommysews - great loss! You can add your pledge/loss to this form if you want: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...ajVTNkhMd3c6MQ

anon - Thanks! I feel like a different person!

peanutt - It is a huge difference for my bf too. Well, I had some moments where I see him walk towards me and I couldn't believe the change. He looks very different. In fall he was tuning my bike on the driveway and it hit me how much he looks like a different person. Luckily only his appearance :-)

sumner - Don't give up. Gains are nasty but we need to stay on track. It will work out in the long run. You lost a ton of inches. Good job!

Capoeira was super hard on Saturday. The first 10 minutes I was sure he is out to kill us. I have sore glutes, quads and lats to prove it. What a workout that is!! I really have to up my strength training. I thought I am doing ok but this is just not cutting it. We had two girls there who are a year ahead of us and boy, they can do moves. That was very inspiring and they helped us out a lot. We were practicing in pairs and did a game in the end. Unbelievable how much fun Capoeira is!!
It also makes me realize with lots and lots of practice I can do pretty much any sport. Amazing! Next time we go to Hawaii I will try kite surfing. I watched and watched and watched them last year. Looks like a ton of fun. I gotta try that! I feel like a whole new world is open to me now and I haven't even started exploring it.

Have a great Monday everybody!

Whoa!!!!! Hang on a sec....

First, Josey -- INCREDIBLE transformation! Great job!

Second, Sarg II -- "signing off ... deployed elsewhere..."
On behalf of the platoon, and having been there myself, I completely understand you are probably feeling burned out trying to keep the platoon motivated. I did want to THANK YOU tho for keeping the troops moving over the past few months!!!

SO, THANK YOU!!!!!

And continued good luck in your own weight loss battle...

Hi, I'm new! I've read through the thread and know there's a two week period of making I'm sure I'm committed.

I pledge 3 pounds this week! (For my reference that's starting with 162.6)

To get there, I plan to:

M/W/F: Lift/spin
T/TH: Lift, HIIT

Additionally walk at least 3 miles in the evenings when fiance isn't home and walk 13 miles some day this week. (I'll break that up though...I don't have a good 3 hour stretch.)
