  • Just got back from a 1.5 mile dogs walk.

I usually walk them 4-5 days (M-F) by myself then either the kids walk them on the weekend or, like today, one of the kids goes with me. (too many other dogs out on the weekend for me to take both by myself. Too much pulling and barking).

I don't count the dogs walk as part of my exercise but over the course of the week I figure it's like an extra day of exercise. lol, hope that made sense.
  • Dec. 5: Xtreme Kickboxing with Chris Freytag, 40 min. Dogs walk 1.5 miles, 30 min.
  • Today is my first day of the 20-minute intensity treadmill workout (2.8 - 3.7 mph). I don't know what the **** I was thinking - total madness. 3.7 mph. I'm a bit nervous - starting in an hour or so.

But that's the whole point of this, challenging ourselves, right?

I may not make it through, but I'll try my best. Think good thoughts for me.

loose seal: you are on a roll with your exercises! The results on the scale are sure to come soon!

    Keep it up, ladies!
    ----------------------------
Update: I did it! The FULL 20 minutes! I am so proud! 2 minutes I had to run - and I mean RUN. It was rough for me - words cannot describe! The majority of the workout was at 3.1 I think. So what I figured out is, this is going to help me a lot with my 30 minute weight loss workout where 3.1 is the highest speed.

(I am regularly updating my original post here with my workouts.)
  • Gf . . . you can do it! Even if you have to back off the speed for a bit then increase back to the 3.7, each time you do the workout you will improve. It will happen because I've done it before. I did get my hubs to take the TM off of the bricks yesterday and will be incorporating TM workouts into my exercising. Good luck. Oh, and make a playlist of songs w/a good beat for your ipod. And if you don't have an ipod buy yourself an early Christmas present!
  • I don't know why I set a goal of doing rehab twice a day all month long. My back feels so much better now!

Yeah, that's exactly why I set a goal of doing rehab twice a day. Getting it functional again, so I can pull the -same- muscle again, just isn't good enough.

I've been good though, two rounds of rehab and at least an hour total every day. Today I'll stretch my back out, and do my lower-back strength-thingies, then I'm going out for a long ride. I just have to decide if it's warm enough to do hills, or if I should hit the bay trails.
  • Walked dog 1/2 hour this morning then went back out for 1/hour.
It's really warm here today (weird!) but rain and colder weather coming so
looks like treadmill weather...ugh! SOOO boring.

Going to get to Body Bar later today. Found some great exercises online.

On my FIOS system I found the Exercise (maybe it's Fitness or Health) Channel which seem to have some great exercise shows On Demand! Can't wait to try some!
There are even some targeted workouts that are only 10-15 minutes long.
Has anyone tried any of these?

I use some of the exercise programs from Comcast On Demand. I hooked up our On Demand box to our dvd recorder and record the programs because they only have them for so long then switch things out. Some are just ok others I really like.

For the TM . . you do have an ipod of sorts, right? Make playlists with the right beat music. Goes a long way in alleviating the boredom factor. Sometimes when I'm paying too much attention to the time/miles I'll rearrange rooms in the house in my head ... makes the time go by faster.
  • For now, each time I walk, I put my laptop on a shelf right next to me and watch parts of old episodes of The Biggest Loser (I try to watch the parts when the trainers are yelling and folks are exercising really hard rather than temptations and such). Dorky? Eh, it's working for me now at least. I am ashamed to admit that I don't own an iPod. But my daughter does... maybe if I'm nice to her she'll let me borrow it.

You can always borrow hers and make a playlist of songs you like.

Or you can buy an inexpensive non-ipod brand for yourself. The laptop on a shelf sounds like a good idea . . just don't bump into it and send it crashing to the ground.
  • 2 lbs! That's how much my doggie has lost since March's weigh-in at the vet. I know she lost the weight since August when we got the new dog. Whoo hoo, slimming down dawg!
  • Week #1
Dec 1: 1.5 miles run, 55 min exercise
Dec 2: 1.5 miles run, 23 min exercise
Dec 3: 7 mile walk, 150 min exercise; 40 miles to go, 1272 min to go.

    Week #2
    Dec 4: Rest day
Dec 5: 1.5 mile run, 1 mile walk, 30 min exercise
  • Thanks everyone for the jogging and treadmill tips!
I think you are right, listening to music will be better than watching television while on the treadmill. so I will definately be trying that!
  • TM 2 miles, avg. speed 4.3/3% incline.

Going for a dogs walk in ten.

eta: nixed the dogs walk, it's pouring and apparently is going to do so all afternoon. I don't do pouring.

Cleaning/decorating instead. At least I"ll be moving around.
  • Goldfrost- LOL, that's how I handle my dreadmill too. Position the laptop, pop in movie, and ta da!

Loose seal- Way to go on the exercise!

  • I got my 20-minute workout done! Gonna do my 30-minute sometime after lunch. Scale has been going up a few ounces... and down a few ounces, and up, and then down, for almost a week now. But my cals are right on track and so are my workouts...I better see the results on the scale soon!
