Hi Chickies Today was my TOPS WI & I Lost -1# with all the stress eating 3 bakers dozen of & cookies + chips & dip (my go-to stress foods) & my broken toe I felt certain I would have a 3#-4# gain. My fellow KOPS at TOPS reminded me that even though I had a major binge after dad died, my metabolism has changed from my -25# weight loss 3 years ago, maintaining 150#, I won't gain weight now as quickly, as long as I'm somewhat active.
That does make sense to me. But...This Did Teach me a Valuable Lesson...I'm going to make a couple of Emergency Binge Kits & put them in my freezer, consisting of yummy, healthy foods I made 1 last year & my DH found it & ate it. But he won't eat onions, so I'm labeling the new kits- with onions & he'll never eat them. I AM going to lose & get to my final goal of 141#, by Valentine's Day.
birdfeet, TY for your idea about using diabetic receipes but do you know how many sugar grams/carbs a healthy person can have
Good Luck over the holiday Chicks & remember that you Don't have to eat the pie-crust (excess calories/fat) with your pie or eat 1/2 a slice of pie
Hey...where is everyone...baking???
Let's have a Challenge about Food this week I will Pledge/Challenge myself to 'eat only 1/2 slice of pie + 1/2 serving of Desserts + NO 2nd helpings of Anything except a Low-calorie salad & 1 glass of wine That way I can still enjoy being with family. Anybody want to do this food challenge with me starting Sunday...Let's Do It & Be Hotties for the Holidays Dee
suttercm: I hear you on the stress & exercise. I'm really forcing myself to get it in, even if it's just body weight strength exercises at home. Remember that ever little bit helps, and hopefully it can help with the stress too!
In2wishin: Great progress!
Louisa: Maybe commit to really focusing on the eating these next few days, so that indulging on Thanksgiving won't be compounded? I find that drinking a lot of fluids really helps curb those urges - sometimes it seems that I want something salty, or sweet, or whatever, when really what I want/need is just to be using my mouth. I've been drinking a lot of sugar-free hot apple cider lately; it does contain some calories (15 per 8 oz), but it feels more comforting and satisfying than water.
aka: Time to kick things up then!
miniDoodles: I'm totally of the same philosophy when it comes to pie crust, lol. I don't really enjoy it, so I'm certainly not going to waste calories on it. That's kind of how I feel about everything nowadays - I only cook and eat things that I truly enjoy. I'll definitely do some sort of food challenge with you this week; I just need to think a bit on what specific "rules" I set for myself. I'll post them when I decide!
Hmmm, i'm in hotels from tuesday for 11 days with various work stuff going on, and will have to socialise every night, so i need to set myself some rules of some sort too. (We don't 'do' Thanksgiving here, so at least that's not a consideration!)
1.Definitely no cakes/cookies etc at the coffee breaks, unless there's some fruit.
2. Alcohol limited to 6 drinks for next week and 6 the week after.
3. Running or push-ups etc every day.
I"m fluctuating between 120-121lb at the moment, so as long as i don't go past 122lb i'll still meet my target for the month!
Good morning all. Hope you are having a great start of the week. My weekend went fast!! Got a 3 mile walk in each day, plus a herding lesson with my dog on Saturday and steam cleaned the living room carpet yesterday. Evening eating is still a problem - I need a reboot!!!
Working on keeping the rest of the week/month under control.
sutter: It sounds like you've been doing awesome on the activity! I'm an evening eater too, and I've found that I'm most successful controlling myself at that time if I a) eat a small portion of something that gives me the flavor/texture I'm really craving (e.g. if I want salty-crunchy, I have a half serving of nuts) rather than some low-cal snack that isn't what I really want, as that way I'm less likely to continue to eat trying to fill a void; or b) eat something that I find really filling, like greek yogurt with sugar-free pudding mix added or apples or a bunch of sugar-free spiced apple cider.
Still trying to come up with some food rules for myself this week... I think maybe one for Thanksgiving is that I can have dessert OR wine, but not both. I shouldn't have a problem the rest of the week as we're not cooking here and won't be bringing home leftovers (we travel back home first thing Friday morning, and it will be a regular weekend here after that).
Help The cold weather makes me crave chocolate & peanut butter candy, especially in the late afternoons & evenings. So I try to ignore it by doing hobbies, or sip hot drinks or a glass of wine & clean or read.
When I watch TV with my DH he is ALWAYS eating brownies, ice cream, pizza, etc. & trying to share
I plan to buy a Kindle e-reader this winter, so I'll have no excuses to eat from boredom this winter. We'll ski & snowshoe on weekends.
What Do all You Chicks do indoors in the winter to Stop your cravings? Dee
Only lost 4/10ths of a pound this week. I still have almost 3 to go by the end of November to reach my mini goal. It's doable but ........ I have lost 5 for the month so far so I am still happy with my progress.
I havent posted since this thread started. Shame on me. LOL. Anyhoo, I am down to 213 which was my goal for the month. Hopefully I can keep it there with all of the food I have left in my fridge.

miatutu: Congratulations on meeting your November goal!! Checking in or not, you've clearly been staying on track - great job!! I've turned you RED below.
Tabby: Almost there!! You still have a few more days to reach your goal - I know you can do it!
miniDoodles: Gah, my husband is always having snacks as well. It's tough to resist them! I try to satisfy my cravings with low-cal alternatives, or just a few bites (still tracked in my food log!) of something really indulgent. Sometimes just having a taste and getting the flavor is good enough to satisfy the craving.
In2wishin: 5 lbs this month is wonderful! That's 5 lbs less than you weighed last month, and is fantastic progress!
sutter and aka: Being down at all from month to month is very kudos-worthy! Every pound we lose is worth celebrating, as it takes effort and committment to do it. Congratulations on doing so well this month!
I got my weight down to just under 165 by Wednesday morning's weigh-in, and it stayed that way through last night, but as of this morning I'm creeping back up. I know it's due to the hormone injections I started on Wednesday night, and I expected this to happen, but it still sucks to see the scale going UP when I know I'm creating a deficit. I just have to be patient... if all this works, it will be very well worth it.
OK, 4 days left ladies - let's see how many more ounces we can take off before the start of December!
