I just decided to lose this 40 pounds...again and I would like to join the platoon. I'm not sure where to start but I will give it my best guess.

Start weight: 174 on 7/30
Current weight: 172.2 on 8/1
Goal weight: 135 on 1/1/2012

Started walking/jogging on 7/30
Total miles: 3.5 miles

Goal for next Sunday- 2 pounds

Dreamer -- WTG on halfway milestone. The platoon melted just over 172 sticks of butter just last week alone...like MadamGooey would say, OMG, That's A Lot of Butter!

Anon--Am I noticing your tracker right...just CROSSED INTO ONE-derLAND?!?!?! Did we celebrate while Sarge was hungover yesterday?!?!?

Welcome newbies!

@Dreamer halfway through is huge! I remember how excited I was. :-) Your ticker is looking good!

I just kicked up my points on fitocracy yeah! Some weights and pilates. We have a holiday here and I figured I can't just laze in the sun!
Now I am having a watermelon slushie! YUM! I found out that freezing watermelon before blending it with a little water is the perfect slushie! OMG! I am in heaven!

Man o man--Peanutt that is some kinda inspiration right there on my screen. ! Hats off to YOU!

I joined a gym on trial 30 day membership. Waiting for my "Intro Lesson". Meanwhile I am on plan today. Everything has been so chaotic, it's nice to get back into the march. Tonight I'm stationery biking unless the gym calls me to set up the appointment.

I'm working with a new book called "Beat the Gym" that helps you get more out of a membership--it really helped me focus.

I can't help but be worried by the fact that, once I dropped down to 1300 calories my body suddenly got acclimated to it and, without exercise last week, didn't lose an ounce. I even gained back what I'd lost. I'm dropping down to 1200 cal but that's as far as I want to go--thinking I've gone into that stubborn "starvation mode" where your body says "You cut off my calories--SCREW you!" ?

So. We'll see how this goes.

Spanky I do think that might be too low for you if your body isn't losing anything at 1300 and you were losing before.

Well, last week I stopped exercising last week due to a huge family issue. I might stay at 1300 and just exercise this week. I am 54 years old and there's just no metabolism left!

So. What is Fitocracy--it wouldn't let me join.

What other challenges does this Troop do?

Constantly eating is what drives your metabolism up along with being active. No i'm not kidding. You would probably do better by increasing calorie consumption a little and just doing a bit more... even just walking. By cutting intake you drop metabolism further, making it harder yet again to lose.

Spanky -- Sarge is 55 and reset metabolism to "bionic" over the last few months so don't think we're gonna let age stop you.... most in the platoon will agree with Reso and tell you that recently they discovered they had to eat more to lose more...strange but true.

Re: fitocracy... either just register and wait for them to send you and "invite" by email (within 24 hours) or google "fitocracy invite code" and you'll find a couple that work. If you have facebook you can also go to their link and ask them direct for an invite.

Sarge has been researching new treks...did you know it's 24,903.4 miles to Walk Around the World?!?!?! We've already put in 5,000!

Reso---What are you doing home for lunch?

@Reso - I never noticed your sig line (warrior or slave) before! I love it! I'm on a quest to find my inner warrior...and I'm getting closer each and every day.

@Sarge - An around the world trek sounds great! I'm hoping to start adding miles (as many as my back will allow) soon.

Sarge - Are we going to go around the world??? I like it! I'm bummed that there is no more Extreme Weightloss - last week was the season finale. I really enjoyed watching that show.

Spanky - Definitely up the calories and eat more often. This advice has not only been backed up by Peanutt, Reso and Sarge, but now by my doctor and my trainer. I was working out 2-3 hours a day and eating between 1,000 - 1,200 calories a day and I was gaining weight. I upped the calories to 1,600 - 1,900, eat six times a day, and work out a bit less and now I'm losing weight. Does it make sense in the weight loss world? No. Does it make sense that you need your metabolism to consistently burn to lose weight? Yes! Try eating more and more often...it worked for me.

Reso - I thought the same thing as Sarge! Everything okay?

I know I've said it before, but you all are truly amazing. Seriously, read down the list. Week after week, you are ALL getting it done...working hard toward your goal. Sure, a little hiccup now and then, but who doesn't slip occasionally. This is a great thread of great people pushing each other and it's truly enjoyable to watch your progress.

Also, WELCOME TO Maile, Fabulous & PacSun! Yes, I know all the numbers, side challenges, etc. look confusing. Sarge is confused half the time too. Generally it's because of his senility. Once you get to know more of the platoon feel free to smack talk and challenge them to something. Sarge has half the platoon crawling up his a** on fitocracy.
(Edit: Special welcome to PacSun...I see in part of your signature that you are "a proud army wife." I hope Sarge's silly boot camp brings a smile to your face while you continue your weight loss journey!)
