CBD: hopefully Atkins will be just as successful and more healthy for you--and we're all here to help you stick with it, whether you need a :cheer3: or a :club:!

MsP: So what was it that caused your dog to get so sick? Hopefully not something you'll have to experience again. Good luck with the nursing.

krystalb: you're rockin' it!

Taurie: I organize a 225 member (soon to be 315) combined CSA, where we source locally-produced food for 46 weeks a year. Not just produce, but good, "happy" meat, eggs, cheese, bread, pasta, and any other products we can find that are produced locally on a smallish scale (not by the evil industrial food system). It's awesome, healthy food, and I am the poster child for proving the fact that weight is directly related to calories in versus calories out. But oh, that locally made fresh butter from pastured cows beats the pants off the crap available in the grocery stores...

Aluxa: My grandfather was born in Italy (Campobasso) and I've started but not finished the process of getting citizenship. We've fantasized about moving there, but now, I'm happy visiting family and friends every two years. I'm so in love with the culture.

DancerinDenver:
did you get two runs in???

The Sea Fest was phenomenal. I will not rub it in by describing all the wonderful things we ate, like smoked salmon, and lobster, and king crab, and mussels and clams in a butter wine broth, oh, oops.;) I was careful, but I was over my calories, not by a lot, and since the evening ended in a dance party, all was fine! By the time I weighed in late morning, I was down a pound from yesterday. I was also fairly dehydrated and starving by then, so we'll see what tomorrow shows. I'll be eating out for a late dinner tonight, but I'm off the sauce and planning for something healthy. If I get through this weekend without gaining weight, I'll be so proud of myself. House guests make it hard to exercise and eat on my regular schedule.

dancerindenver 03-18-2010 09:15 PM

howdy, girls!
managed to twist my ankle stumbling on the stairs while carrying boxes so my ambitious running plans were put on hold in favor of some mellow walks.

louisa - your seafest sounds to die for - glad you enjoyed it!

taurie - I bet you'll have some good walking opportunities - if only for your food shopping. So jealous - can't wait to hear all about it!

cbd - how's atkins going? If I remember correctly, the first two weeks or so were the hardest.

ms P - is your dog doing any better today? Hope so!

dixiemae - congrats at being at a healthy bmi! That must feel great! Can't wait to join you there....

We're expecting a bunch of snow tomorrow which may mess up my exercise plans for the weekend a bit but I have a treadmill and rowing machine if I get desperate so no excuses, right? Hope you all are doing well...

Ms Perception 03-18-2010 11:11 PM

Hey all! Pup is improving. I think her vision may have been damaged, but otherwise she is doing well. She got into something in the woods here that was "bacteria-laden" and it totally messed with her digestive system which led to a complete physical breakdown. Hopefully she'll have a full recovery.

Another good food and exercise day. Time for bed now!

Tummy Girl 03-18-2010 11:40 PM

Just wanted to pop in and say howdy amidst all my craziness. I'm doing alright since my face plant in binge land but it's nasty getting the cravings under control after that. And for an extra kick in the pants, my weight stayed that same today, that's my body teaching me a lesson so I best listen.

I just finished my second exam in under a week and have three projects on the go that need to be finished by the end of next week, hence me crazy no time to breath or post. But I just needed to get my fill of some good news and motivation and see how MsP's puppy was doing.

SG - And thank you for the smart card description, that sounds rather fantastic for those geeky science nerds amongst us (I will not name names ;)) I totally subscribed to your blog, lol, I didn't realize you were on wordpress too. I'm just getting the kinks out right now, I realized that I'm having a harder time with maintenance that I ever did losing and it always helps me to write. Oh and I'm totally stealing your stats idea, that's awesome!

I'll stop by again when I get a minute :)

krystalb 03-19-2010 10:00 AM

Lost 1.1 lbs bringing me to 231.9, only 1.9 left to lose to reach my march goal!

aluxa 03-19-2010 11:18 AM

Cbd: :goodluck: with your new plan!
Ms Perception: it is great to see that your dog is better. I can imagine how stressful all the situation was for you because I have a dog too, and I do not know if I will be able to stay on plan on your situation.
Dancer: plowing snow can be a great exercise
Krystalb: :congrat: you are really close to your goal :balloons:
Luisa: I become Italian citizen as a child because my parents did all the paper work, but I know that it was a headache for them, but a lot of things were changed since that. About the culture, I do not find it so different because my grandparent’s neighborhood was in the suburbs and everybody was Italian there. I think that I learned to make homemade pasta and pizza before I learned to read LOL. That may explain why I love to spend a lot of time in the kitchen, because most of my childhood memories are placed in my mom or my grandma’s kitchens.

This week progress:
SW: 187.4
CW: 179.8 (2.4/4.8 to go)
GW: 177.4/175
WL: 7.6

Ms Perception 03-19-2010 11:19 AM

krystalb-Excellent job! You're doing great. Keep it up.

aluxa-I was so disgusted with myself from the weekend before, that turning to food was nearly the farthest thing from my mind, so I guess that worked out pretty well. I'm SO glad we're seeing small improvements in her every day!!!

Tummy-Don't forget to breathe! I know you'll do wonderfully on all your projects...here's to excellent time managment! P.S. I agree maintaining is harder than losing (from my very limited experience)!!!

I've continued to do well eating reasonably, though I've expanded my food list to my "normal" stuff now instead of just fruits, veggies and chicken. Tonight is dinner out with DH for his birthday and I've prepared myself for it so I don't "eat stupid" again. I will most likely also have 1 serving of cake and ice cream, but it will be at my parents' so I will only have it once, not repeatedly like I would if it were at my house! I can handle this.

eclipse 03-19-2010 11:33 AM

Morning everyone! Just checking in. Things are going well here. Still not a lot of scale movement, but that's life :)

dancerindenver 03-19-2010 01:23 PM

howdy, girls!
SG and TG - very much enjoyed reading your blogs! you guys are very inspirational and I'm impressed with your time mgmt skills as I'm sure I would do a very bad job keeping up with something like that ;)
eclipse - I'm right there with you on the no scale movement thing. Such a bummer.
ms p - come back and tell us how the b-day dinner goes. Much better when the cake leftovers stay at someone else's house!
aluxa - you are definitely right about shoveling!
Food is okay so far today. Hope you are all doing well...

NightAngel26 03-19-2010 08:21 PM

heh....

well I'm finally under 230. Looks like TOM is packing up....or I hope so... :carrot:

I'm still doing ok for the March goal I think, I hope all of you are doing well! Have a great evening, I'm just not feeling too chatty tonight! :dizzy:

Taurie 03-19-2010 08:38 PM

DancerinDenver - sorry about your ankle. What a drag.

TummyGirl - so good you got those exams out of the way. Good luck with your projects. I think you've been doing well at maintaining.

KrystalB - ooooh! You're so close!

LouisaH - fantastic work you do! There just isn't any comparison for fresh produce and fresh butter. YUM!

Aluxa - you're so lucky your Italian. I'm so obsessed with Italy I've been taking language lessons for 2 years. I'm from LA, but my background is Colombian. We're neighbors! I take it you're tri-lingual? You're so lucky! Plus you can freely travel anywhere in the EU. I nearly decided to get my Spanish citizenship just so I can be an EU citizen... but, that would mean living in Spain for 2 years. I just couldn't do that at this point in my life.

I had lunch out today for a birthday. I had a mixed salad for a starter w/ dressing on the side and for main I had smoked salmon and salmon shashimi. Of course there was bday cake... I had a teeny tiny sliver... I wasn't impressed with it, so I only had one bite. I'm so proud of myself! I even had a bite of my bf fish and chips and didn't like it... too greasy for my palate. My taste-buds are put off by greasy foods again. And, I'm obsessed with fruits and veg. My bf even surprised me today with a veg and fruit cook/prep book. I'm digging it.

SlimBy2011 03-19-2010 10:25 PM

My goal is to lose 10 pounds this month.

SW: 185
CW: 185
GW: 175

aluxa 03-19-2010 11:54 PM

Ms Perception: I’m happy to read that she is better.

Dancer: I feel that I’m the only person that loves snow, so I always find something positive about it lol.

Taurie: I cannot say that I’m trilingual because the Italian that was spoken in Argentina was a mixture of different Italian dialects from the early 20th century. However, I can understand it, but I feel out of place to speak it. About the Spanish citizenship, they have changed everything on the last years because in the past you did not need to live there to get it.

SlimBy2011: :welcome: and :goodluck:

Taurie 03-20-2010 05:14 AM

Aluxa - oh wow, vintage Italian... before national broadcasting. I've read about that.

Lo and behold, I lost one pound! Just one more to goal! :carrot:

eclipse 03-20-2010 12:34 PM

Happy Saturday! It's weigh in day for me here, so here are the stats:

March Starting Weight: 245.4 lbs
March Challenge Goal Weight: 238 lbs
Current Weight:241.6 lbs
Total March weight loss: 3.8 lbs
Left to go: 3.6 lbs

I ended up being down 2 lbs this week, which was better than I expected. This month's goal is looking unattainable, unless I have a whoosh between now and the 1st. I'm hoping to get to 240 or less, though. I only have 1.6 lbs to 240, and I think that's doable in a week and a half.
