Hellome -woohoo for movement on the scale! I bet it was that extra workout that did it! :)

nella - I have that problem too - nothing in the house is unhealthy but I can still eat too much of it if I'm not careful. Such a bummer... No workout yesterday apart from moving boxes which sort of counts although not really as full blown cardio.

nightangel - the idea of you surrounded by ab and thigh machines makes me smile! Do you have a favorite piece that you recommend?

ms p - did the scale cooperate this morning as expected? Hope so!

louisa - you are such a hoot - love the sharing in kindergarten comment!! And yeah, popped in oil is the yummiest. I'm trying to talk myself into air popped. I'm afraid of the microwave stuff - transfats and who knows what in there. I loved tae bo a while back when I had it on vhs but I can't seem to find the old tapes on DVD and all of the newer stuff had mixed reviews. Is yours on dvd? If so, which one is it?

nello - good for you on the diet club - love your incentive plan :)

Today's going well so far - already got in my exercise and am sticking strictly to plan. I'm going to go move more boxes from my old house at lunch so that will be some extra calorie burning.

Hope everyone's having a skinny day!

Lewisempire 03-09-2010 12:56 PM

Good morning ladies,
Just a quick note to say hi, I am planning an on plan day! (just wanted to be accountable to someone) I had a very laaate night at work, and when my sleep suffers, so does my diet/exercise! Hope everyone has a great day!

Ms Perception 03-09-2010 01:20 PM

HelloMe-AWESOME! See, when you have us slave drivers around, good things can happen! LOL I'm so happy for you moving past that plateau. Keep up the good work!

NightAngel-Funny about your equipment collection. I feel like I'm that way with kitchen gadgets. I'm much lower maintenance with exercise equipment. I just run, bike, swim and do some free weights.

Nella-Oh man, I hear ya! When I tell myself I'm not gonna worry about calories or whatever, then I'm eating a little of this and a little of that. Nothing terrible, but overall way too many calories.

iDream-Hey there! Let me put in my 2 cents, if I may. If you're at all inclined to homeschool and you have reasons why you think it's better for your kids...DO IT!!! I LOVED it, even on the tough days. PM me if you have any questions on books, resources or whatever. I wish we were in a situation where that was an option for us. Glad to hear you're back OP after the crazy weekend. I hope things slow down a touch for you so we get to see you around here more.

dancer-Yes! The scale is at least temporarily off my naughty list. It was finally agreeing with me that I deserved to get back to where I was before eating out.

LE-Well, I hope you get a chance to get caught up on sleep at some point, but stay strong! I'm SO proud of you for having such a wonderful start to your month. You rock!!

I'm on day #4 OP and feeling very good about my food and exercise plans and what I've already done this month. After the puzzling weigh-ins of the last couple days, I got a number much closer to what I was expecting today. (Down 3 pounds from yesterday, so I know it was water retention.) It was such a relief to know there wasn't some mystery weight that had attached itself to me long-term! Now, I must stay OP to make goal.
I know later in the month we will eat out a couple times due to birthday celebrations and all, but they won't be off plan since well, I'm planning for them. ;) I'm sure I may exceed normal daily cals on those days, but I will not eat mindlessly. Plus, at that point I hope to be at my goal for the month, so I can just bounce right back to goal after a recovery day or 2. Anyway, I'm off to cut up veggies for supper tonight....Chicken stir-fry=One of my faves!

eclipse 03-09-2010 03:02 PM

iDream I homeschool my three kids, and it's the best thing we ever decided to do. If you have any questions or want any advice, let me know.

HelloMeAgain
Congrats on the scale movement!

dancerindenver Good luck with moving - it's hectic, but it's always a great workout!

Lewisempire I know you can do it today :carrot:. I'm with you - when my sleep suffers, so does everything else!

Ms Perception 4 days on plan! You rock! Congrats on the 3 lbs down. I love it when mystery weight moves on along!

I'm just keeping on, keeping on. Down to 243 this morning. That's 5 lbs from my goal for this month. We still have 3 weeks plus a day or two left in March, so I think it's reasonable that I will make it (and maybe excede it! don't want to get ahead of myself!) On my long term goal chart, I charted that I would be at 240 by March 20th. That's 11 days away. I don't know if I'll do 3 lbs in 11 days, but I'll sure as heck try!

zoochick777 03-09-2010 07:04 PM

Hey everyone, sorry I've been gone for awhile. Being sick and having to work during the day was draining all my energy, so I've been sleeping/resting in the afternoons. I'm finally feeling better and the cough is almost gone as well. The bad part is that I gained a few pounds this week. I hadn't been burning as many calories but I'd been eating the same amount (plus more on some days). In addition to that, TOM is here so I have some extra water weight. Hopefully it'll be gone by the end of the week. I really need to start logging my meal/calories again. I've really been slacking with that.

LouisaH 03-09-2010 10:07 PM

Evenin' all,

iDream: I wasn't home-schooled and I don't have kids, but the only people I ever hear anything negative from is people who were not home-schooled and didn't home school their kids. The only negative thing I've seen or heard of in home-schooled kids is a lack of social skills. Obviously this isn't all kids, and if there are good social circles in place, it seems to me the greatest opportunity available for both parent and child.

eclipse: way to keep it cranking!

MsP: glad to hear that weight lump finally fell off! I'm planning a few off-plan days too, and wonder how it's off plan if you've planned it! :dizzy:

dancer: microwave popcorn is worse than air-popped! lol
My Tae Bo is VHS. We finally got the dinosaur plugged back in so I could do them again. I needed something to mix it back up. I did one of the advanced ones--better than when I was doing them regularly, thanks to those two drill sargeants, Jackie and Jillian, but boy does my butt hurt! Good luck with the move. Remember, bend at the knees when you pick up and put down those boxes--make it burn! ;)

HelloMe: Hotcha! New decade, here you come! Way to get up and kick that treadmill's butt! Glad I could help with motivation.

Nella: Same here. When I just watch what I eat, I can just watch the numbers on the scale go up too. It's not that I don't eat healthy, it's just that calories are calories, and my body makes me do the math. :(

Tonight, we went out for a celebratory Vietnamese meal (final week of season 2 for the local food CSA we organize). I thought it would be a lighter option than some dining out options, but I know it was high sodium. I went over my calories today because I didn't get to exercise, but I was way under my cals yesterday (and still didn't lose anything this a.m.), so I hope a lot of water will make everything okay.

Taurie 03-10-2010 04:10 AM

Ms. P - I'm so glad the scale is finally cooperating with you. Don't get me started on kitchen gadgets!

Nella - I do the same thing. If I don't watch my calories my portions gradually get larger and I get super snackie on what I call health conscious junk food. It's good that you're aware and put a stop to it before any physical consequences occur.

iDream - wow, that is busy! Hope your okay.

Hello - all I can say is... :carrot: congratulations.

Lewis Empire - the only thing that will remedy that is more sleep. I hope you're able to get a restful night tonight. I'm the same if I don't get enough sleep everything else is out the window. I'm too tired to exercise and because I'm exhausted my body craves extra food to get me through the day.

Eclipse - I know you can do it this month!

Zoochick - I hope you feel better soon. I wouldn't worry about a couple pounds with TOM and being ill and all. Just make sure you get enough rest so you can get back OP asap.

Luisa H - I'm sure the scale will be much better tomorrow. Vietnamese does have loads of sodium, so that has got to be it.

The scale decided to go up 1 lb., but I'm not worried about it yet. Even though I've been staying within my calorie limits, I have been having loads of Cherry Garcia frozen yogurt (1/2 a small tub in one sitting). So I'll quit bringing it into the house since I can't be responsible with it. My dry throat caused by allergies makes me crave it. I did try a nasal drainage and that cleared all my symptoms for several hours, so I think I'll keep doing that along with my medication and when I find local honey I'll add that too. (I love honey!!). Thanks ladies!!

Shrinking Girl 03-10-2010 08:15 AM

Hey Chickies

Man, I thought I'd be able to have time to check in here more often but I am sick sick sick and can barely stand to go to work let alone do any posting.
I just want to sleep but that whole work thing keeps getting in the way. Sometimes I wish I had the kind of job where I could just call in sick and just have to deal with a backlog of work to get done rather than feel as though my students are falling behind. Ugh.

I've got a lady coming tonight to give me an estimate on housecleaning. Not that my house isn't clean (it's cleaner than ever, really)... It's just that some of the things like vacuuming and scrubbing the bathrooms and floors really gets me in the back. So I figure I can do the day to day light cleaning and vacuum once a week and then hire someone to come in once a month to do the major scrubbing and edge the carpets for me. That way I can have my house as clean as I like it and yet still have a back which doesn't hurt.

NightAngel26 03-10-2010 08:58 AM

hello ladies...

Well, my TOM is coming, and my scale is not budging anymore...and I've done so well too. Eh...

As for my machines...I use my stationary bike constantly, but I love my new trampoline! It's just more fun :trampo: and it's a personal one...not those big outdoor ones... I doubt my landlord would put up with that.

Anyway, TOM is always discouraging for my weight plans and it makes me want to eat more just because I'm not seeing progress...but I'm not sure that I should be retaining this early I'm not due to start until the 15th or 16th
:?:

nellonello 03-10-2010 09:47 AM

SG - Great thought on getting a cleaner. We have had one for years and I love it!! We tried cancelling it for a few months when we bought our new house and big mistake. I don't mind the day to day stuff but having a cleaner come in every 2 weeks is great!!

Ms Perception 03-10-2010 10:01 AM

No change on the scale today, but I'm okay with it after a couple bad days there. Here's to day #5 OP! Last night I almost thought about an extra snack, but then I thought, "I can't eat that or I won't be on plan and I'll break my good streak." So, this accountability to getting 7 days in a row has REALLY helped make more mindful not to sneak in an extra snack or 2.

SG-Glad you checked-in, but I'm sorry to hear your not feeling better! I hope the cleaning thing works out. My sis used to have someone come to help her out like that because she also has physical issues that make it VERY painful to be on her nands and knees for scrubbing, etc. She loved the extra help.

NightAngel-Judging by the recent addition of acne to my face, I'd guess I'm due to start late this week/early next week. My cycle is long (and slightly unpredictable), so I have to look for the clues to give me the heads up that TOM is on his way! Here's to no more TOM related issues this month, eh?! If only it were that easy!!!

Taurie-No sweat on the pound, you'll drop it and more once you clear out the healthy junk! LOL Don't you love how we can "abuse" healthier versions of snack foods, though I am also a fan of frozen yogurt. I know there are times I cannot be trusted with it and times when I handle it well.

LouisaH-I know, it's funny how a "planned" event can be off plan! For me, the line is crossed when I eat WAY off of what I know is the right amount or type of food. Like if I gorge myself at a buffet, I'm not gonna write it off and say, "Well, I planned to do that, so I'm on-plan." If however, I know I'm going to eat out and I eat foods that are reasonable, healthy options in moderate portions...that's still OP. Ya know what I mean? I have done that (the gorging) and immediately felt regret or guilt, that's a dead give away that I'm not eating on plan! LOL

LouisaH 03-10-2010 10:09 AM

Taurie: nasal drainage sounds soooo much better than Cherry Garcia...good luck with that!

SG: Sorry you're sick! We miss you. Housecleaners are nice. We had one for a little while, but she wasn't really doing what we hoped, so now we're back to doing it ourselves. ick. I miss her, too.

NA: I'm expecting visitors too--hopefully TOM and Aunt Flo won't both bring luggage.

No weight loss today, but the scale did show me a glimpse of 191.something before settling back in at 192.2, so that's okay.

Have a good day all!

Brittany1988 03-10-2010 11:45 AM

Hey guys! Just checking in. I'm starting Atkins today so we will see how that goes!! The book sounded promising! :D

SG: Sorry you are sick! It makes weight loss less fun. Feel better soon!!

Good luck to everyone else! Stay motivated :D

Summer2010 03-10-2010 12:19 PM

Hey chickies, I am still around. I am at 229.8 this morning after my TOM. I am hoping for a good loss this week. Everyone is doing so well. I am going to try to stay on plan with eating and reduce snacking. Ohh and I am also re-starting exercise.

Have a wonderful day!!

dancerindenver 03-10-2010 12:22 PM

Morning, girls!

brittany - good luck with Atkins - curious to hear what you think! I've done it in the past but couldn't live for long with practically no fruit but I did lose a bunch initially so it can be a good kickstart.

louisa - that 191 is yours - I bet you'll see it by the end of the weekend.

msP - so impressed by your discipline! I'm trying to stick much closer to plan but haven't been able to commit to being super strict. Which is probably the reason I'm losing SOOOOO slowly right now, like a pound a month. Time to kick things into higher gear, definitely. Thanks for being an inspiration!

shrinkinggirl - I have a cleaning lady that comes every two weeks and I love it - it helps me put my time available for cleaning related stuff into something like reorganizing a closet or a dresser while she handles all the regular stuff. Hope it works out the way you want it.

taurie - your avatar is beyond adorable! I'm with you on the don't bring stuff that's irresistable into the house. Unfortunately my list of things that can't cross the threshold seems to be getting longer, not shorter. Just say no to the fro-yo!

I'm back at 168 after hovering a pound higher for a few days but I'm so ready to bust through this plateau, it's ridiculous. Looking forward to getting in some good exercise the next few days to help things along.

Hope all is well with you all...
