  • FSA, I think that is a great idea to exchange emails! And I had forgotten about you saying that you were tired after TOM. I'll have to pay attention now to see if this happens every month!

Delphi, that sounds like a great piece of technology! I can wait to see what you post about it!

Michelle, I'm one of those people who does not get hungry and forgets to eat. The thing is, when I am eating healthily, that's how it is, but if I eat junk, oh my word, it triggers my appetite something awful and I am always hungry!! That's how I got to this weight! As it turns out now, not getting hunger cues is a good thing and a bad thing. It's good because I never overeat and I am rarely tempted by any food. But it's a bad thing because I really do forget to eat on time and have to be very careful about keeping my eye on the clock. If I get busy with something, hours can go by before I remember to eat. Even at 5 pm the other day, though I had forgotten lunch and two snacks, I wasn't hungry. I just remembered that I hadn't eaten since breakfast when my DH mentioned dinner! As I've mentioned before, forgetting to eat a whole day at a time happened to me a LOT as a teenager. I can't allow it to happen to me now. Not only is my metabolism not what it was when I was a teenager, but I was also diagnosed with reactive hypoglycemia a few years ago, so now I could get a migraine or even pass out as a result of not eating. Blood sugar/insulin problems are rampant in my family. My daughter and I have reactive hypoglycemia, and my mother, 2 of my brothers, and my son all have type 1 diabetes and have to take daily shots of insulin. It's partly because of the blood sugar/insulin problems in my family that I felt after ten years of not eating well or watching my weight, I needed to do something, before I end up with type 2 diabetes myself! I never dreamed though that when I cut out the junk I'd get the messed up hunger cues in the opposite direction again!! If only you could see how I can put away cookies and candy when I am not eating healthily!! Oh my!!

Oh hey, my ticker's back!! Yay!!
  • Just a quick, Good Morning before I jump on the treadmill. Seeing as I am here quite early every morning, I thought perhaps a motivational quote would be in order in the mornings. Drumroll please...

"The man who can drive himself further once the effort gets painful is the man who will win." Roger Bannister

Alright, I'm off to show my treadmill who's the boss! Everyone have a super-awesome day. Remember to wear your smiles today! Just a suggestion from yours truly, when someone asks you today, How are you? Try replying with, I'm outstanding! or my favorite, I'm fanflippintastic! At any rate, it always makes people smile when they don't hear the norm. Talk to you ladies in a bit.

  • That's very cool, Delphi, having a motivational quote of the day! Thank you!
  • Quote: [B]
Jacque ~ Yeah, I was a bit shocked when I saw the receipt..it was another gift from my beau. Actually, the actual band is awesome. As I mentioned in my comment to Michelle, I just wore it for a few hours today and then uploaded the data and my jaw just dropped. It records your metabolism down to the minute. Then it graphs it out, so you know at what times, how long. You can move the graph to a certain time frame and know exactly how many calories you burned. Tomorrow on the treadmill is what I can't wait to see..to see if it correlates with what my treadmill says. I think they sell the bands separately. This company is where I get my vitamins from they don't actually make the band itself, they are just licensed to sell it with "their" plan. I think the company that sells this specific one is called BodyMedia. But I think you can google Calorie measuring armband and there are plenty of places that sell them at as little as thirty bucks. I'll definitely let you guys know tomorrow evening after I upload the data and take some screenshots and attach them here so you guys can see how accurate this thing is.
Thanks for the info....I use my iPod Touch (I think I have mentioned that before) to track calories in/calories out. I know folks say those sort of things aren't totally accurate, HOWEVER, when I compare what a machine says to what the iPod says it is or compare a package to it, it's close. I'm trying not to be anal about EXACT calories but I like to have some guide...this has been working for me. But I might want to try the armband...just for s*#ts and giggles.

Jacqui_D I know what you mean about not eating and then eating junk food. That stuff makes me want to eat it all day. Fortunately, I have been able to pretty much avoid it for quite awhile now. Like yesterday, we had a b'day celebration at work and there wasn't one healthy thing there...although I did pick out the almonds in the nut bowl AND brought a half a green pepper. Nobody could believe I wouldn't eat the chips or my brownies that I made....I never eat my brownies....cause I know what goes into them. Old family recipe so I don't give it out...so no one knows what they are eating...he he he!!!
  • Jacque that made me Thanks, needed a good giggle this morning I'm with both of you guys on the eating thing. I to, am hypoglycemic, so eating is imperative, however, I've found now that I'm putting the right fuel into my body, I simply don't feel hungry all the time, like I used to. I could eat so many pieces of pizza it wasn't funny and now days I do well to get a half a piece of meat down. I never listened to my body before, and I think I'm more focused on what it needs as opposed to what I think I want...if that makes any sense at all.
  • Hi Ladies! Sorry I have been MIA, I have been working extra hours, my grandfather is in the hospital and my kids have had activities every night this week. Lots on my plate but I haven't slipped. Although last night (more than words) I did not want to exercise I had been up since 4AM stayed up late the night before watching hockey and had a go, go, go kinda day. SO I didn't workout super intensely but I got 40min in plus chasing kids at the playground earlier in the day.
I have to get the kids up and out the door for school soon so I won't be able to get everyone in for personals but I did read everything.

Delphi~ You are doing so great, I remember watching your 1st video and I could tell that this time you wanted "this" so bad and you are killing it. I'm so proud of you! looking forward to hear that accuracy of your treadmill after using the band.

Jacquee~ avoiding work party food is a little success that does more than help you avoid extra calories, it empowers you over your eating for future tough situations, great job.

FSA~ Behave today! A couple more days and we'll be thru the tough part. I'm sorry you were having a rough time yesterday. I ended up treating myself to a iced coffee with skim milk and SF vanilla. It was too yummy to be legal but I read and reread everything I could find and it was allowed. I also saw another loss today on the scale but official weigh in isn't until Friday so it doesn't count. Keep trucking along with me, today's a new day.
I'll PM you my e-mail addy.

Everyone else please take care of yourselves today. I'll write more later.

I know what you mean about the pizza...I really haven't had any in a month or so...maybe one slice. The other day I still hadn't eaten all my calories and the kids had pizza...a small one and I took 2 bites of one piece and was done!! On another note, I started to look for the arm band thingy and I can't seem to find one that is $30. They all are like hundreds of $$$$. Any suggestions? Glad I made you laugh...I try!!!

Thanks...I was pretty darn proud of myself too!!!
  • Lene ~ Sorry to hear things have been so hectic, but it sounds like you are staying OP and hanging in there. Hopefully, things will slow down soon. Thanks for the encouragement, and for feedback with the video. I never really thought anyone would watch them but me.

Jacque ~ I found this page with several versions of calorie counters, but didn't really read to much into them. Some of them are even watches, which might be more comfortable then the arm band. I think once I lose some of this fat on my arms though, the arm band will be more comfortable for me...but at the moment it's not that bad. I'll keep my eye open. I followed a link the other day that had one and had the service online to monitor it for free and for the life of me I can't remember but I'll keep looking.
  • Wow this is crazy, I just stepped on the scale and I'm down to 304.0! I wasn't sure if I was gonna make this month's goal but I've only got 4lbs to go! (Well, technically, 4.1lbs to get down to 299.9, lol)
Plus I'm actually up at 8AM, for the first time in about a month. :P I feel so energized, I can totally do this. I've only got 54lbs to go until I'm at my major goal (though I may keep losing after I hit that). That sounds so strange to say but it's true!

Oh, and I just realized my BMI is down 10 points almost exactly since my highest weight.

Lewisempire - Thanks! I haven't gone to pick up my car just yet, but I'm going to someday this week. It's a silver '99 dodge neon, nothing too fancy, but it's mine so it's special. I named her Majorie. lol
Congrats on your husband's new job by the way!

Ms. Perception - That's awesome!! Congrats! How's it feel to no longer be considered obese?

Delphi - Congrats on the loss! That new software sounds awesome, I didn't even know anything like that existed.

Crazymamaof4 - I try to eat around 1800 calories, but I've wondered if that's too much or too little. I've tried calorie calculators to see how much I should be consuming, but they always seem a little high. All in all I'm still a bit new to all this counting and measuring stuff, I probably have no clue what I'm doing. :P
I don't know about having higher calorie days, but I don't think it would be a good thing for me. The slightest thing throws me off anymore. But it's an interesting idea!

Jacqui_D - I used to forget to eat all the time, but mostly during manic episodes (I have bipolar disorder). I used to sort of take pride in it too up until I found out how unhealthy it was. When I'm really devoted to my diet I find myself still doing it sometimes, I'm not sure how to get myself to remember exactly when I need to eat. I wish I still had that problem now though, I'm eating right up to my calorie limit everyday. And it's because I was eating junk food not long ago! Lol, that's so true. I'm perfect with my diet until I have just an ounce of junk food, and then I'm hungry all the time.

FSA - I'm definitely for keeping in touch! I don't know what I'd do without all this support.

Sorry this is so short guys, I'm getting pretty frustrated with my laptop. I keep accidentally switching to new pages and it keeps erasing everything I write. Luckily I was smart enough to copy what I wrote a few times. lol
I gotta go get some breakfast in but I'll be back I swear! Keep it up girlies!
  • Good morning girls Hope you all slept well last night and woke up to a great day.

Fenderellaaaaa, congratulations on the loss! That is terrific news, keep up the great work. Ohhhh, congrats on your car too! : ) I bet you can't wait to go pick it up.

  • Good Morning All!

I missed you all the last couple of days! First the server shut off and yesterday I was out and about all day I didn't get a chance to come check in with you!

Delphi: Congratulations on your 6 lbs! And that beau of yours seems like a really supportive one, you are one lucky gal. I suppose the new gadget is similar to the BodyBugg thing that they use on TBL?

FSA: I think exchanging e-mails would be a great idea. And I thiink you are doing great on your plan. I love roast chicken

Jacqui: I hear you on the junk food thing. I am a bottomless pit when it comes to consuming that kind of stuff, so I just stay away. I've never forgotten to eat though..I wonder how that would be like :P

lene: Sorry to hear about your grandfather. Sending good vibes his way.

fenderella: Congratulations on your loss! You'll get to your goal pretty soon!!!

I am so excited: I was looking at the mirror last night and I just noticed that for the first time ever I have collarbones! They are not totally obvious yet, but I can see them if I shrug a little bit.
I remember a while ago reading in a magazine some article about how to boost your self esteem or something along those lines. It mentioned that you could focus on something like your collarbones since everyone's are sexy, all I could think at that time was...I have none!!!! LOL

Keep up the good work everyone and going to drink my water even if CMof4 is not here reminding me!

Thanks for the info...I looked at some...I just like what you got but I can't afford that...and neither can my DBF...so you are very lucky that you got one. I'm sure eventually I will find something.
  • Oh! I am just so frustrated! This forgetting-to-eat thing is not even funny! I forgot to eat breakfast, and a snack! How do you forget to eat breakfast?!!! GRRR!! At 12 noon, I noticed the clock and could have kicked myself! I didn't have my water, I didn't have my green tea, I didn't have my vitamins! That's it! I have to do something! I cannot continue to do this! Okay ladies, mark my words, this is the way it's going to be and I'm putting it in writing!!

    Morning:
Wake-up, don't get on computer, go weigh, get dressed to go to gym, go to kitchen and fill all water bottles, heat tea kettle of water. Eat breakfast! Take vitamins and drink a bottle of water, put tea kettle on warming plate to keep hot, set 3-timer phone alarm for noon, 3 pm, and 8:30 pm. Go to gym and workout!

    Mid-morning
    :
Return from gym, eat a snack and drink a bottle of water, go take a shower, fix a cup of green tea. Now, can get on the computer, sip a cup of tea.

    Noon (alarm should go off):
Eat lunch! Drink a bottle of water. Do housework/run errands, etc. During breaks, sip a cup of tea.

    Mid-Afternoon (alarm should go off):
Eat snack, drink a bottle of water. Finish housework/errands, etc. During breaks, sip a cup of tea.

    Early Evening:
Fix dinner, eat dinner, drink a bottle of water. Relax however you want (with DH, on computer, watching tv, etc.), sip a cup of tea.

Early Night (alarm should go off):
Eat a fat-free yogurt, and drink a bottle of water.

I won't go to bed until around 11 pm or midnight, so the night-time snack and water will be fine.

Sorry, I just had to get that out! It's been a whole week now of forgetting to eat! It's throwing me way off, and it's not getting any better! I'm so frustrated, I'm close to crying!

The bad part about tomorrow is that I have an out-of-town appointment right in the middle of the day, which with driving time will take me from about 11:15--3:00. I'll have to be sure to eat lunch at 11 and then when I get back into the car at about 2:15, I'll have to have a snack ready then. That should work. I hate having to plan things out to this degree, but I am at my wit's end! It's making me really cranky! I am so sorry, girls!

Fenderella, I am so happy for you!! I truly am!! You have turned things around amazingly!! Good for you chickie!! Congrats on the weight loss!

I'll write more personals later. I have to get to the gym!
  • Hi ladies!

Lene~ So sorry to hear about your grandfather. We'll keep him in our prayers. Don't forget to take care of yourself while things are hectic.

Federella~ So happy on the loss!!! Great work!

Jacqui~ Don't be so hard on yourself! You sound sooo frustrated. I don't know if you can keep to so strict a schedule but the idea of setting your watch so that you eat will probably work until it become routine. You'll get there chick. Great idea to pack some food if you are going to be away for a time. I try to always pack a snack bag even if I am out running errands. Slices of red, yellow, & orange pepper are my current fav as they are in season.

Newshinyme~ on your collarbones! I am sure that they are wicked sexy!!!!

FSA~ Thanks for all of your constant encouragement. I don't know what we would do without you!

Delphi~ Love the quote! Great idea!

Have to run to pick up DD for an ortho appt. I have been doing better OP-wise over the last several days but TOM is cramping my style (haha) quite a bit right now so the exercise is a bit off since I took off yesterday & today. Back on the wagon tomorrow!!!!

Here's some for the next 4 days & 2 weeks!!!!
