Day one was a success! Day 2...so far so good. I'm about to go for my walk before lunch...and David, yes I do walk around a corn field, (actually it's stalks/stubble right now as it's been harvested and too early yet to plant for this growing season. I used to walk on the road, but we are out in the middle of nowhere and there are some very creepy people who seem to enjoy cruising and boozing on our road. A couple Thelma and Louise look-a-likes scared the heck out of me a while back, so I decided it was time to find a new "track".

Well, I have absolutely given up sugar in any form. I had syrup on my Pancakes on Tuesday and that's it until Easter.
I am also going to accurately record my food (and any wine) on Fitday.

I am trying not to curse. Also not buying Starbucks coffee, I will drink it if you buy me one, but I am NOT buying any during lent. This is more of a money saving issue than giving up something.

I also heard maybe not giving up something for lent but maybe changing a habit or doing something positive for someone, an elderly shut-in or do random acts of kindness for lent instead.

Checking in! I'm doing OK. Eating without distractions feels weird - had to catch myself yesterday evening when I was snacking on some raisins and leafing through a magazine. It's so automatic! Today is going very well so far. I still need to work a bit on slowing down and eating mindfully.

I'm looking forward to an evening with a good book instead of surfing the net!

2 good days gone, and I feel a lot better today than I did yesterday. i feel postively smug. That's not so good from a religious observance point of view but ok for the weightloss!

Hope everyone's days are good.

Did good yesterday. Not only did I stick to exercising. i even pushed myself to do an extra 15 min. Now comes the tough part. The weekend. I usually can always find a reason NOT to work out on the weekend. So wish me luck!!!!

Congrats everyone on starting out strong! I have found I'm using my time better with being online less. I have worked out more and got more done around the house. It was a good choice for me!!

I'm not buying pop or candy during lent and I'm not going to snack between meals unless it is fruit. I was hungry last night after a meeting until 9 p.m., but a banana did just fine.

Good luck to everyone!

Checking in! Man, eating while doing something else is a really, really ingrained habit for me. I'm catching myself almost every day - but then I immediately stop whatever else I'm doing and just sit down and enjoy. Today I put some classical music on during lunch. Eating more slowly is hard as well, but I'm working on it.

Turning off the computer "early" has been great - but it's going to be more of a challenge now because I got a ton of urgent stuff to finish by next week, and I would usually use the evenings to get rid of the overhead. Oh well, today I compensated by *gasp* pretty disciplined working, and I will get in a few hours on Saturday, too.

Ah, soda, you have won this round.

Adding fast food to my list. Try to save some money too along with calories.
