gatorgal - yikes! a 12lb average gain during the holidays!! doesn't surprise me, but wow that's depressing. we can't succumb to that!

i did W1D1 today... 2.2 miles (walk at 4mph and jog at 6).

I have downloaded the weeks 1-9 on my iPod and I plan on starting tomorrow. I am a healthy eater but I am so lax on exercise so I am pumped to get motivated!

They say speed is not too important to worry about at the start. The last weeks have you at 6mph (3 miles in 30 minutes).

I'm slower - day one was 3mph walking and 4mph jogging. I plan to increase the running speed gradually.

I'm hitting the treadmill for day two in a little while. Hubby dud day one yesterday and said he thought it was quite a workout. He is also suggesting that after Christmas we should enter a few 5K races for fun.

Have a great day everyone and keep up the great work!!

I made it through day two I did the walking at 3mph and the running at 4.5 today. I am not a fast runner - jogger is probably the better title for what I do Keep up the good work!

Hello,

I just finished day 2 of week 1, and I feel great. Hurray! It went really well, but I started noticing some soreness in my shins. I think I may need some new shoes with more support.

BarbaraJean-thanks so much for letting us know about the other Podcasts. I appreciate Ullrey's, but I like the music of the other ones better. I've downloaded them and plan on trying it on Friday for Day 3.

Have a great day everyone, and keep up the great work! We can do this!

I'll have to check the other podcasts too. The music on the one I have isn't quite my thing but I like his encouragements and I love not having to think about when to change up my speed

Hey guys! Glad to see a new thread started and a whole bunch more people who have hopped aboard the c25k train! hehe

I'm on w9w3 of the challenge.. so one day left! I can't believe it! when I first started I couldn't go for a minute jog without wanted to collapse...andnow jogging is an important part of my life! I need to work on speed.. but distance is my focus right now.I can do 3 miles in 36 minutes.. so i have some work to do in speeding up.
I run on a track, not a treadmill and it's working for me. Im excited to start some new challenges from the cool runnings site when im done tobuild up my speed nd endurance.

GOod luck guys! This program is awesome!

Things i've learned along the way:

It's ok to repeat weeks.. but always give the new week one try first. There were a few weeks where i didn't think I was ready to move on. I gave the new week a try and i did it! Just try but dont make it too hard to set yourself up for failure either

Trust the program. you can do it! and it works!

dont let more than 2 days MAX go between running.. Youcanlose it just as fast as you can gainit!

I think I'm going to run inside from now on. The cold really did a number on me. In March or so I'll start outside again. I don't have a treadmill (wish I did) so I'm just going to try and do it alone. Probably start the program over in March, but I want to get started.

Hope everyone is doing good.

Well, I got up at 6 and did my first day. It was GREAT. I had a little trouble with the running part though-I just had knee surgery (menisectomy) a couple months ago and I still have some soreness. I may have to power walk for a few weeks more before I can do a full blown run. But I got off my fat a** so that is what I am pumped about! I am a fairly healthy eater but have no motivation for exercise, especially after summer is over and I cant use my pool, so I will take what I can get

OK I did week 2 again today. It was fine except I realized I wasn't doing it right - instead of walking for 2 minutes, I walked for 90 seconds. Oh well - I could handle it so I guess I will just keep doing it.

So one question are you doing this 3 times a week or daily? I know the website says 3 times per week but in reading some posts it seems like some are maybe doing it daily?

I like the podcast as well but really like the two that were posted earlier more of the up beat music to keep motivated... Again thanks

I am hoping to be able to do the 3 mile jog in 8 weeks without stopping and i think with this program I will be able to achieve that.

Have a great night and I will post tomorrow afternoon when I am done with my Week 1 Day 2

Hey guys

I finsihed the c25k today! I still have a lot of work to do speed wise.. so if you don't mind, I hope i can stick around and chit chat with you all!!

Those with the knee probs... I had some knee issues. especially when i first started. I found that making sure I left a day in between my runs.. my aching stopped. The days i did it day after day.. it was horrible on my knees.
Just please be carefull and dont force it if it hurts.. slow and steady wins the race!!
