I say go for it if it's what you want. The amount of fat that's in nuts is mostly mono and poly fats, very little saturated. IMO a good pesto is necessary every once in a while and worth the calories. I find it very filling so tend to still stay in my calorie range even when I eat it. I have been doing about half olive oil/ half veggie broth to lower the fat and cals a bit when I make mine.

BUT - the magic question is: what do I put the pesto ON??
My dietitian said I could have 1 c of pasta. I'm sure she was referring to white, but I don't eat that, I eat whole spelt and I'm SURE it's much higher in calories.

And honestly - who wants to eat 1/2 c pasta??? LOL

I hope that I won't be gaining anymore during tom, but I wouldn't be surprised. I ate next to nothing today due to lack of appetite, and instead of eating chips with the dip I made, I ate some sliced veggies. And then I went and ate corn nuts, hahaha.

hey ladies just checking in possibly the last time before vacation as my life is crazy insane at the minute, baby cat of mine broke her leg at 11pm on weds night so i have spent the last couple days ferrying her between emergency vet, normal vet and then specialist surgical unit about 50 miles away.

she had surgery today and is recovering well, i have to collect her tomorrow morning, then work at a different store about 30 mkiles from home. then tomorrow night i have a bbq at a neighbours, sunday im working and sunday night im out for dinner with friends, monday morning i have to get cat to vets for post op check up then an hour later get to the airport.

needless to say i have been missing meals and run ragged. i feel like im almost ready to tip over the edge sanity wise.

and during this time my dad decides to get in touch for the first time in almost 18 months. sigh.

TOM has also arrived with a vengeance. great.

i still have uni work to finish to, im gonna try to do that tonight. god knows when i will pack etc?!!

jeez louise.

Woohoo Heather and Josephine!

I weigh in tomorrow morning - I purposely made it Sunday morning to help me get through dreaded Saturday's family meal.. Here's hoping for happy numbers! I'll be THRILLED if I've gone down a pound from last week and I've made it to 155! <next mini-goal, as well as DH's weight, LOL>

Sheesh Paula - it really does sound like you're running ragged... Make sure you take care of yourself, because if it's one thing I've learned in life - NO ONE else is going to do it for you!!!

Theresia - until I joined this forum, had never heard of the monthly miseries referred to as "TOM" but I like it - stands to reason, as most major problems around are men related anyway <MENstrual problems, MENtal illness> HAHA - ain't it fun that my husband doesn't read my posts?! :P

Hi gang. My scale is up. Don't know how high. But, it will be higher tomorrow as I made the mistake of an impulse buy of a box of chocalte chunk cookies. The purchase ostensibly was for our guests. But .... I didn't listen to that voice in my head that said... "VERY BAD IDEA". Instead I listened to the other one that said, wow gormet cookies on sale for half price??, GREAT IDEA!!!
Well, thery are almost gone now. doh!

I love chocolate,, But I haven't been eating that since January, I'm so good .. But anyway, Last week I bought a box with some of my favorites, they are waiting for me.. I'll eat them when I've done all 30 days in the 30 Day Shred.. 6 done - 24 left...

Well, I have eaten out twice in two days - last night was half a garlic flatbread and cheese, followed by pizza, and today was Chicken Kiev and chips!! Blame my new fella!

Still, the rest of the food I have eaten has been good, just those two meals - so maybe I won't have done too much damage. I didn't weigh this morning so we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Sorry I've been slacking on the updates recently. I'm having a little trouble getting back on track, but yesterday and today were good, so things are looking up. TOM not helping, but almost over.

Betsi and Paula - Hope you both are feeling better soon!

SW: 158.8
CW: 157.8
GW: 153.8

Keep up the great work, everyone!

P.S. I think I'm going to try going vegan, at least for a little while. I know there are some vegans in this challenge (Josephine and Heather, if I remember correctly). Any suggestions for a newbie (I've been a vegetarian for 11 years, so I'm hoping the transition won't be too bad)?
