Karen - :congrat: on the loss! Think of it this way - in order to hit your Christmas goal you need to lose #1.5 a week.. what do you need to do to hit that goal???

Kate - good job getting back into it! And good job losing the "family weekend" weight! Back on target - striving towards your goal! Kepp going!

akhrob 07-08-2008 11:45 AM

I Did It!

Congrats for all the weight loss! I hope to have some of the same success stories in the near future!

As for the working out part, I did it! This morning I got up and bought a Mommy and Me workout DVD that I can do with the new baby. :exercise: Plus my six year old says that he will do it with me too! Now if I could just get Dad to join in! Ya right!

Also when it cools off some I plan on doing some family walks and bike rides. MM - Thanks for the suggestions!

Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes!

bluuuskies 07-08-2008 11:50 AM

Hello ... Been MIA for a week. I've been busy working, doing the family thing, etc. Now, I'm sick. Go figure!
Sounds like everyone is doing well. Congrats on the losses!! And great job to those who are going to the gym and working out when they don't want to. That is a huge deal!
Hope to feel better by tonight (very doubtful) I was really looking forward to working out tonight in my water fitness class. I have to work tomorrow so I won't be able to go then.
Hope everyone has a great day.

guynna 07-08-2008 05:40 PM

hi bluu -- hope you feel better soon and will be splashing
away : )

TappingPeony 07-08-2008 10:56 PM

:hug:Good evening all and  hi to everyone new.

I have missed you all, and it hasn't been so great around my house either. I was on call all weekend, but then Monday I got sick with some bug right before lunch, and then I got a hormone migraine. Needless to say I was still feeling puny going to work this morning. I have perked up this afternoon, and with a little sleep tonight I should be right as rain tomorrow in time to go to work. I was able to keep on track today, and so hopefully I will still lose when I/we weigh in on Friday.

Feel better Bluu!

Catch up with you tomorrow evening! Have a great Wednesday!

Kathy;)

guynna 07-09-2008 07:53 AM

Hope everyone if feeling spiffy again this morning (at least it's morning in my part of the globe).

Amanda, WTG with the DVD -- is it fun? I bet your 6yo is into it.

Haley8203 07-09-2008 08:38 AM

hay all i know its been awhile for me posting but i have a couple NSV to report. i can tie my towel around my waist at the beach and it stays tied lol and i can wear shorts in public and not feel disgusting lol

good job on everyone's progress!

mothermavis 07-09-2008 09:06 AM

Earthshaker, major in Business Admin w minor in Spanish is the goal.

Amanda, wtg on getting the video. You can probably also talk the 6yr old into dancing with you..mine used to love to dance around the house when they were little.

Haley, congrats on the NSV

All you sick people, feel better.

Enygirl 07-09-2008 09:32 AM

good morning girls! I'm feeling better this morning, but still in a bit of a funk. Not sure what's going on. I'm retaining a lot of water today too - so part of the funk might be because I'm bloated. ugh... if only life was simplier and we were all size 2/4s!

Haley - WTG on the NSVs - and welcome back!

Bluu - :getwell:

akhrob 07-09-2008 10:41 AM

Good Morning everyone!

For those of you who are under the weather I hope that you start feeling better!

Haley - Congrats on the NSVs! That is great!!!

MM - WTG on your school goals! How many classes are you taking at once?

As for my new DVD it is just - OK. It is a little on the boring side to tell you the truth. I think I am going to try dancing around like an idiot with my kids instead. That sounds like lots of fun and good exercise too! Maybe if I keep shaking my booty it will eventually fall off!!! :)

Let's have another on track day!!! Later....

mothermavis 07-09-2008 10:54 AM

Amanda, have fun dancing. Are both kids boys?

I am only taking one for the summer session (3.5 hours 2x a week), but I will be taking 2 or 3 in September, depending on if I can fit them all in. I am trying to get 2 web supported classes and one in class, class.
YS is a Sr in HS, he is active in sports and his Ma has been at every single game, 4ever, for both kids and I won't start missing now. I also have a FT job (I'm on vacation right now) so as much as I am trying to get it all done, it has to work around my life!!

Dixiemae 07-09-2008 11:27 PM

I got in 2 hours of exercise and my push ups. I am a pooped puppy. I just wanted to pop in and say hi to everyone. Mother Mavis~I finally found the Turbo Jam dvds. Can any one clue me in about Ballet Booty Camp dvds. Does any one here have this set of dvds? Thanks Pat

akhrob 07-10-2008 09:45 AM

Mother Mavis - Dancing was great! We had lots of laughs!!!

My two kids are both boys. The oldest is 6 years and the youngest is almost 3 months. Then if you add in the husband and our 2 male dogs (golden retriever yellow lab mixes), we have enough testosterone around here to last a lifetime!!! :spin: But I wouldn't change a thing!

As for school, I am really amazed by you now! It sounds like you have a great plan. I wish you all the luck I can!

Pat - WTG on 2+ hours exercising! :carrot: You are an inspiration! I am doing good to get in 30 minutes! I guess it is time to raise the bar...

Everyone else - have a great day!!!

Enygirl 07-10-2008 09:51 AM

I'm starting w/ day one today again. I splurged last night around 10:30 and had a Jimmy John's sand which, which put me over my cals by 462... it could've been MUCH worse! I'm just moving forward.

Hunter leaves for Grandma's tonight, and then Camp on Sunday - I'm going to Miss HER! But I'm going to use the week to get caught up at work, and to push the exercise with out so many distractions. I'm going to push to lose #2 in the week that she's gone. I NEVER want to see the #190's again (right now i'm so close that I know I'll flux back into them) I need to get the scale moving down - so that I can see the #170's! THAT WOULD ROCK! - Right Dixie??? :D I'm almost 1/2 way to my goal - which is a cool thought as well.

So today - eating clean - drinking my water (which I've been slacking on) - limiting the diet coke - and working out!

Time to get some work done! :grouphug: & :dust: for everyone!

mothermavis 07-10-2008 10:45 AM

Eny, Good job on moving forward, 2 pounds while she is at camp would rock, you go girl!

Pat, I know nothing of the Ballet Booty dvd's, let us know what you think if you find them. I second Amanda, great job with all the exercise.

Amanda, thanks. It is a lot of work, but like you, I wouldn't have it any other way. My "boys" are 17 & 20 and 45, so I know where you are coming from!

Where is every one?

36, Kate, Kathy, Bluu, Haley come out and play. If you are off plan, it's ok, come get some support, we've all been there, that's why we are here!!

Dixiemae 07-10-2008 11:07 AM

Eny~I am with you 189.4 is so close to 190. I was thinking about this last night. I don't ever EVER want to see 190 again. 170 something would be a lot safer. You had a JJ sandwich, I had pizza. Like you said it could have been a whole lot worse!! I was chicken, I did not sneak a peek at the scale this morning. Moving on for this day. I have my 64 ounce jug of water cooling in the fridge. I have to better plan my meals. I have an idea for meal plans in my head, but need to put it in writing. Take something out the freezer for dinner. Oatmeal with yogurt and blueberries for breakfast. Turkey sandwich on whole wheat with carrots lettuce and tomatoes for lunch. Dinner working on it. I will get my stepping in at 1 pm. Wall push ups 3ish. Dinner at 6ish. That is the out line in my head.

Mother Mavis~I am so proud of you going back to "school". You are an inspiration to the rest of this group. You are one organized lady to be able to juggle a schedule like this. WTG!!!! Next thing you will be telling us you made he deans list. I know that you will succeed.

36~How are you doing. Please post so we know you are ok.

Kate, Kathy, Bluu, Haley, jump on in let us know whats new with you all.

Where is Bitsy?? Is she on vacy?

I will catch ya all later. Pat

Haley8203 07-10-2008 06:54 PM

im here....just been so busy with homework/going to the beach with my daughter....i have been OP....its hard to keep up with this group lol everytime i log on theres about 50 new posts and by the time i read them i dont have enough time to post anything myself lol i hope everyone is doing good!

McKenziesmomma 07-10-2008 07:38 PM

If its okay...I would like to join this challenge. I'm working on the labor day challenge....but that is just in like 8 weeks....so I'm going to need something for when that passes...

I figure there are about 24 weeks and I would like to lose 3 lbs a week...thats about 72 lbs but I'm only going to shoot for 69 lbs to account for some plateaus or for holiday splurges... :D

a 69 lb loss would put me at 180 lbs!!! That would be soooo awesome! I can't wait to see ONEderland....let alone the 180's

There are just too many posts in this thread to go back and read so...if there is anything I need to know or do for or about this challenge can someone bring me up to speed??? How often do you guys weigh in?

Thanks
Melissa

TappingPeony 07-11-2008 12:42 AM

Hey all, better late than never!

I could swear I posted last night to check in with the bunch, but I don't see it anywhere.:dizzy:Guess my CRS was working overtime yesterday!

I got called into work again today, so that's my excuse for not being here. Come out and play--it made me giggle! I am over whatever bug I had, and so now I have water retention. I can feel it in my shins. I think I will wait until Sunday or Monday to weigh in and see if I lose it first. And actually I have been good the last couple of days, so I don't think I have gained weight. I am just glad I feel better. I can do better on my walking now too.

I need to get going with washing clothes and packing up my daughter for camp next week. Guess I will be saying no if the hospital calls tomorrow morning.

See you all in the morning.
Kathy;)

mommapossum 07-11-2008 07:22 AM

Hello every one!!!! It sounds like everyone is doing well.... Isabel.. thanks I love your name also. This week has been ok. I have had no real time to exercise. I am limited in what I can do outside of walk and you cannot imagine how hard it is to try to get a walk in when you are dragging with you a stroller, a 3 yr old, a 5yr old, & a 9 year old. I need to go to the ymca however Isabel is too little to leave in their child care room. I have been forced to wait for my husband to come home and then I do not always get aalk in. I will try harder today....I hope every one is doing great!!!

blessings,
Lori

mothermavis 07-11-2008 08:22 AM

Melissa, :welcome2: There is really nothing specific you need to know, we are just working towards Christmas as our long term goal. Trying not to beat ourselves up when we have a bad week as we are in it for the long haul. Everyone has adifferent weigh in day, but there are several Friday'ers.

I just got on the scale for the 5# challenge that you started but my official day is Monday, that keeps me OP for the weekend I hope.

Haley, I am not sure if I sensed a little bit of "overwhelmed" in your post, but don't feel that you have to do personals for all, sometimes you may not even have time to read them all. It's all good. Do what works for you chick, this is to lessen our stresses, not add to them.

Momma Possum, I picture you trying to exercise, like a Momma Possum , with the 3 older kids hanging from your arms and legs and the baby in a sling across you. It makes me smile. Keep on keeping on.
You know from experience, it gets easier and there is always September. Do the older 2 go to school?

Kathy, glad to hear you are doing better. We will weigh in on Monday together!! I also suffer from CRS frequently. :D It came with the 40's for me.

Enygirl 07-11-2008 09:13 AM

McKenziesmomma - I'm glad you joined this one too! :) Although - just so you know, I'm notorious for starting threads for holidays, and after the Labor day challenge I'll be starting a Halloween one. :witch: which is 8 weeks after Labor day. :) And then probably a Thanksgiving one - to keep us working towards our end of year goals :turkey:

I weigh in every 2 days, but my 3FC official day (and my family Christmas challenge) is on Mondays. #3 a week would be INCREDIBLE! Keep on working it girl!!!

Lori - I like MM pictured kids hanging from you Definately a funny visual! Keep working at it. Have you thought about a obstacle coruse thorugh the house or back yard? they're pretty easy to set up with household items - and can be GREAT workout (and fun) for you and the kids! Just a thought. :)

Kathy - I'm glad you're feeling better. And I'm glad you poked your head in!

Dixie - We just need to work together! I didn't weigh yesterday (I only do every 2 days) and this morning I was #190.0... I know it's just the natural flux - but #185 would be SO much better! (But not as good as #130's going to be!) :D

I made it through my new day 1 - and here's to moving onto day 2! I broke down and bought an MP3 player for myself yesterday. I got a 2GB one for $39 at walmart - i couldn't pass it up! It made the 3.6 mile walk SO much better yesterday! I'm trying to work on my speed so that I can do the 5K in less then 50 mins... Music helps the pace - now I just have to get music that I like on it, instead of Joe's music!

Here;s to another ON PLAN day! :dust: & :grouphug:

bluemommy 07-11-2008 09:25 AM

This is just what I've been searching for. I plan to be 40 lbs lighter by then so I need to step it up a bit.

McKenziesmomma 07-11-2008 09:26 AM

Yayyyy....glad to hear about the halloween and thanksgiving threads to come!!! I'll be watching!!

TappingPeony 07-11-2008 09:27 AM

:woo: Today is my oldest son's birthday. We are going to see him next week. He has semester orientation today and starts classes on Monday. How did he get to be 22? My mom used to say that to me all the time--how can you be XX because I am only 32? She finally had to change that line when she hit 65 "so I can get my social security check". Personally I am from the "it doesn't matter to me how old I am, just don't ask me how much I weigh" school of thought.

Lori, are there any tables with chairs near the exercise area? One of the girls that goes to the Fitness Center by me has been doing this--she has one child old enough for the nursery, and a newborn. She "borrowed" one of the neighborhood kids who is around the age of your oldest, who sits at the table with the baby where she can see them both while she exercises. The older one reads, or whatever she brings with her, if the baby naps and entertains the baby if it is awake. I don't know what the arrangement is but everybody looks happy. She doesn't have any other child to worry about, and the one in the nursery is busy, and mom gets some exercise. Maybe you and your oldest can work out a deal for exercise time. My daughter sometimes uses her hula hoop during commercials on TV--lays it on the floor and jumps in and out of it, kinda using it like a chinese jump rope. Maybe you and the older ones could do something together when the younger ones are napping to get some time in.

MM-I think that CRS often works like the old saying "Insanity is hereditary, you get it from your kids":D It started when the boys were in High School, so yeah, right around 40.

Melissa-Go for it! I would die of shock if I got 3 lbs to come off in a month, let alone a week.:faint:

Check in later, have a good Friday.
Kathy;)

akhrob 07-11-2008 09:33 AM

Hi All! I hope everyone is doing well today! Our family and friends, about 30-40 of us, all go camping one weekend a month from April - October. So, I will be busy getting ready for our July trip for this weekend. Lot's of work to still to be done before 3 this afternoon. Anyway, I am going to try and stay on track this weekend, it is going to be tough! I weigh in on Monday so that will help motivate me to keep my mouth shut and pass up the fried potatoes at breakfast and have grapes instead! LOL! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

-Amanda

Pieinthesky 07-11-2008 09:38 AM

I like this idea of having a diet plan for 36 weeks - it gives me time to very slowly weine myself of my fave foods!!

McKenziesmomma 07-11-2008 10:06 AM

Tappingpeony - you could definately lose 3 lbs a week!!! You only have to get rid of 1,500 calories a day to do so! If I can do it so can you!!!

It takes around 2758 calories to maintain the weight your at now at a sedentary lifestyle. So if you only had 1,500 calories a day (which is alot) you have already burned 1,248 calories of the 1,500 so that only leaves 252 calories a day to burn with some movement...if you did 45 minutes of walking a day at 3mph's that would be a little over 300 calories burned for your weight....there you go ...you have hit over 1,500 calories...and can still eat whatever you want pretty much and only have to move 45 minutes out of a whole 24 hour day!! :D

I've lost 13 lbs in almost 3 weeks!!

Quote:

I am from the "it doesn't matter to me how old I am, just don't ask me how much I weigh" school of thought.
I hear ya there!!! Age is one number in my life that really doesn't matter to...weight is a whole 'nother story!!

I am staying on plan. I read the poste veryday...just don't always post. Scale is showing downward progress after the camping & 4th of July weekend splurges. Which is a huge ego booster for me!!! In the past I would ahve seen a gain and just given up. But I got back on plan and am feeling even more determined.

Exercise has been downa little bit. It is just so nice out I can't bring myself to go to the gym. However much of the time that I am not going to the gym I am in the pool at home running laps. Don't ask me to run on dry land...but in the water I could do a marathon!! maybe I should try the C25K program in the water!!

However everyday for work I have to go to the bank and post office. I now walk. I decided #1 I can used the extra exercise. #2 they don't pay me for my little trips like that so screw it I am not wasting my gas. It is 18 blocks round trip so it is a nice walk.

Sunday I am taking the kids (17 & 14) and their GF & BF to Apple River for a day of tubing and sunshine. I am packing a cooler and it will have lots of healthy stuff...if they are hungry enough they will eat it!!

Dixiemae 07-11-2008 11:37 AM

Eny~Please let me know when you start your new threads. I want to join. They will keep me clean, op, and accountable. I have not snuck a peak at the scale just yet. I went to the library to get a Denise Austin book. I read about half of it and started scratching my head. I don't know what it is, but something about her gets to me. I might take her exercises and use them though. It would be a start.

Everyone have a healthy day. Pat

Enygirl 07-12-2008 12:01 PM

I will do that! i generally start them the day that the old one ends, and I'll post the link.

Joe and I got into it last night - it was an ugly one. :( he's still not talking to me. I'm going through a lot right now - and I'm not happy about it at all. I need some emotional support BIG TIME!

On a better note though - I did a "cheat" weigh in this morning and I'm down to #188.8 (#.8 down from Monday) :) I updated my tickers because I need something happy to look at and to keep me going.

I didn't do my pushups yesterday due to all the drama... but I will get them done today. Still no Tae Bo tapes :( I'm starting to get upset about that! grr!

Dixiemae 07-12-2008 04:51 PM

Eny~I am so proud of you!! Don't feel bad. I told my sister last night that I'm sooo angry with my ex. My eating op has fallen off a bit because I don't know how to handle the anger. I do know food is not the answer to the problem. I will get back on the wagon starting right now as I type this. I have not done my push ups either. I need to start over any way. I still have my sights on a sexy, slinky black dress for Christmas. I will be blessed if I will let my ex get in the way of my dream again!! I do want to join in on your next challenges. I am re-motivated and ready to move on..Minor set back not a derailment. Thanks Pat

mothermavis 07-13-2008 10:21 AM

Good morning all, just got back from church.
Had a very busy weekend, wandered a little off plan, but all in all not too bad.

Need to get in gear today, still need to go out and run, have to do my homework for tomorrow night's class, need to clean, dust etc here and have to go back to work on Tuesday....

Eny, sorry about the drama at your house, that always makes it hard not to eat.
Self sabotage seems to be the trap I hit when I am stressed too.

Dixie, you betcha, stay on track to the little black dress, then if you do see him around, he can eat his heart out and what's not for him anymore. Don't let the ex keep you down.

Kate, love that you can walk to some of your work chores, good for you finding a way to fit it in.

OK, everybody have a great Sunday, we can do this!, still more than 23 weeks to go, that's 23-46 pounds if you average between 1 & 2 a week!!

Dixiemae 07-13-2008 11:16 AM

Hi Everyone~I hope that everyone here is having a great weekend.

MotherMavis~Thank you for the kind words of encouragement. I did get back on track. I did 1 1/2 hour of stepping workout. I did 4 sets of 5 push ups. I started the push up challenge all over. I have already mapped out todays eating plan. I am going for a walk this afternoon. I sneaked a a peek at the scales this morning. :yikes::yikes::yikes: Not good. I would kick my butt :kickbutt: if I could reach it. Now I feel guilty for all the emotional eating, but I only lost the scrimmage. I have not lost the battle, I flatly refuse to loose the battle!! I will loose the weight. I have not hurt hurt my ex, I have hurt myself. Only a minor set back. Mother Mavis I will wear a sexy, slinky black dress for Christmas, not cheesy, just sexy. Okay, I will get off my soap box how. Thank you so much for letting me vent, thanks for listening

Eny~Are you ready for a re-dedicated mini challenge partner. Lets go girl! The 170's are calling our names. Shall we answer the call! :workout: :tread: :exercise: :cheer3: :cheer3:

Pat

Enygirl 07-13-2008 12:46 PM

Pat - I'm in! Lets push to see those #170s QUICKLY! Unfortunately I can't go grocery shopping until Friday - so I'm having to make do with what's in the house... but I'll get there. My christmas goal is to be #163.6 - so the sooner I get to the #170s the better!

Joe and I are better - we talked a lot out yesterday... and didn't go to bed until 6 this morning  - then of course the phone started ringing at 11:30. *sigh* oh well I can't slepp in to long, otherwise I'l NEVER make it to bed tonight in time for work tomorrow!!!

cassangelidy 07-13-2008 05:08 PM

Hey Everyone...I'd love to join in if that's okay!! My goal is to be 147lbs and if I could get there by Christmas YEEEHAW! As of today there are 23 weeks and 4 days to Christmas. So I need to lose 1.75 pounds a week to make my goal. WOW. Ok, I'm totally in! :)

Thanks so much!

Dixiemae 07-13-2008 06:58 PM

Cassangelidy~:welcome3: Never to late to start on a healthy life style. Jump in the group is very supportive.:swim:

Mother Mavis~Can you please tell me what my Christmas goal is? I am sorry, I have gotten so wrapped up in this divorce I have forgotten. I will post it on the fridge so I will see it every day. Thank you!! MM I found that sexy, slinky black dress we have talked about. LOOK OUT NOW:rofl:

I did over an hour stepping this afternoon. I added a little bit of a new twist to it. I jog for 1 to 1 1/2 min then start stepping again. Today the ball game is boring and my team is loosing. I did 4 set of 7 push ups.

I have been looking for a diet plan I can follow. Any ideas?? I can not eat fish, I am allergic to fish.

Pat

mothermavis 07-13-2008 10:27 PM

Cassangelidy, I will second the welcome, the more the merrier.

Whoopse, 36, Haley, KateB, Betsi, lumi, where is everybody?

Dixie, I think your goal was 30 pounds. I just started to go thru and gather them up, cause we are getting long and I am sure soon they will ask us to start a new thread, maybe one a month til Christmas? We'll see if we can get this one to the 24th...

Good job on your exercise today!! I went running and then did crunches. My team lost too. Being from NY I am a huge Yankees fan. I have a hot black dress for Christmas too, with a pair of gold heels, I am going to look smoking hot!

I do a modified low carb, I eat veggies and some oatmeal, but no white sugar, white flour or white rice.
Here's what it usually looks like for an idea..
Usually, a yogurt for breakfast, Dannon light & fit is my favorite, sometimes w berries or granola,
sometimes oatmeal instead
String Cheese or such for a snack
Big salad w grilled chicken for lunch, south beach or light done right dressing
Fruit or raw veggies, sometimes w cottage cheese for a snack
Protein, fish, sorry.. chicken, pork chop, red meat about once a week and tons more veggies for dinner.
Loads of water and a trim creations fudge bar from the Schwan's frozen food guy! If that big yellow Schwan's truck comes to your house, try those fudge bars, yum and only 50 calories!!

lalique 07-13-2008 11:35 PM

19 weeks and 2 days left till christmas... (wow this year has gone by fast)..

I hope I'm not too late to start... If I lose 2lbs/week I'll be down 38 pounds, which will bring me to 207 (I'm 245 now).
