Wow!!! I am FINALLY feeling up to walking a little. I had the flu and it was horrible!!! My Daughter was also sick.
So anyway my excercise really suffered this last week. I am hoping to get back to 100% by the end of this week... I am keepingmy fingers crossed. I have not lost anymore but have not gained either...
I will take it for now
Sorry no posting for a few days. Still on track, but I took Saturday off instead of my usual Sunday. Sunday I did 60 minutes but ate 2 cupcakes (thanks Mom). I was over her house and she loves to bake. I am not tempted by that stuff until its right there in front of me. I would never have baked or bought it for myself. GRRRRR!!
Even though I work full time and do not get home until 5:30 or 6 (except Mondays its 8:30, due to my daughters dance). I find weekdays easier to work out then weekends. My problem is due to my schedule, I am used to working out late or early evenings. Weekends, if I wait to workout too late, we might have plans, and I have a hard time movin first thing in the morning, as far as a hardworkout goes.
Monday sucked, I only did about 50 minutes. Thats been my lowest time since starting this.
Today was really good, about 90 minutes, and NO CUPCAKES!
I'm the same way, I find it easier to keep a routine during the week then weekends. I'm trying to do a weekend "play day" with 1 hour or more exercise with my boy, biking, walking, stroller, park, whatever... I too like to work out late in the evenings often after I get my three year old to bed.
Dolphin, glad you are BACK. I'm with you, I haven't lost or gained really, I was sick too so I'm happy with that as well. My boy is sick and puking today, I hope I don't get THAT. So much is going around, a lot of people around here are sick. We both had bad colds but he's got something more today.
I love my new mini trampoline for 5-10 min here and there. I work at home. I've never been able to throw in a dvd in the day, and it's a bit cold for walking - so this is doing the trick of revving up my metabolism a few times during the day then doing evening workouts at home with mostly dvds. We have 16 days left in Feb... wish I could lose 1-2 lbs a week but actually even though the scale hasn't budged much I've lost fat off my tummy and my clothes are fitting better. I like heavy weights so I think the muscle gain is part of it.
My so-called I'm not on a diet, diet needs work. I know I am not eating enough calories. I know between that, then some binging, skipping meals etc., caused my metab. to slow. I really want to work on that. I have't skipped breakfast since starting this, but sometimes I will only eat a low fat yogurt if pressed for time. I want to add more protein for sure.
I am going to go grocery shopping, my least favorite thing in life, and really try to plan ahead. My goal ofcourse, is to figure out how many calories I can really eat in a day, (I haven't really figured that out yet), and once I meet my goal, I want to stay there for life.
I know there is just a few of us on this thread, but I am very interested in keeping it up in March as well. Other threads I have read, well they seem to fizzle out. People talk more about what they are not doing than trying to really go for it.
Twentytogo, you are amazing, but you are right up the calories, athletes wouldn't work out like that without more nutrition. I really love my new clean eating book, I think it's more sound then other diets for harder workouts. I love to weight train, and with heavy dumbells more then anything. On 1200 calories a day the energy... I'm thinking on days I know I'll workout harder, I'll increase calories and have a protein shake after working out to help recover too.
Yes I think we should continue this thread in March although there are just a few of us. It's nice to check in almost daily. I wish my boy and I hadn't gotten sick as I haven't done as much as I could have, but I'm back in business here. Did 45 min on the trampoline yesterday, that bouncing is fun and is a great cardio workout. Tonight I'll do weights again, I'm going to get a barbell soon so I can do some of the advanced dvds here soon!
Thank you for the compliment Horsey. But honestly, I know I will not be able to keep it up. I'm staying up to late because I can't begin the workout until sometimes 7-8:00. Then I have the everyday housework, laundry, homework with my daughter. Also, in February, we have less going on, so I've been taking advantage of that while I can. My intention is to try to continue thru March for 60 minutes, 6 days. Then I hope I am close enough to my goal, I'd like to workout 4-5 days a week, minimum 30 minutes, with a few days harder, or whatever works to maintain. I want to make this a life time goal. I'm a long way from "old" but when I do get there, I do not want to feel like it, you know what I mean? I just really want to establish once and for all, a lifetime habit of healthy eating and exericse.
Today I did 60 minutes, slim n six. Did laundry and mopped. Now I have to hit the shower so I won't make it to bed before 11 and I have to be up at 5:30. I do my best with a solid 8 hours beauty sleep.
Ok, let's go for 45 min - 60 min a day, six days a week. Actually I think I can get up to 60 min like you, you are inspiring me! I REALLY want to get this weight off! Yes Feb is a slower time of year, easier to focus, nights are shorter, exercise keeps me from being bored too. I LOVE the feeling after cardio although I have trouble getting started sometimes. IF I do the 60 min though I'll have to break it into 25-30 min a time. Good thing I've read that if you are losing weight it's better to break up 60 min of exercise, even if you do it at once, take a break half way for 20 min or so.
I'm trying to develop a lifelong habit too, of daily exercise of some sort. If you keep up this strategy as young as you are, and you don't get "old" and you know what that looks like you'll get more respect as you get older. I try to keep up on fashion, makeup and stay "young"... I have a little boy so I have to! It's one thing to be 20 something, but at 40 or so it feels good to get fit and try to stay young. I don't want the alternative AT ALL.
lol.. just trying to get back into the swing of things. I am still not 100% and start to lose my breath easily when I am walking. I got a couple of DVDs and have been workingout wiht them but with this chest congestion I really can't get too much into it without breaking into a coughing fit!!! It is really frustrating!!! The only way I am going to make a loss is if I can BURN those calories!!!
Ok well tomorrow I have a lunch date at the gym with one of the girls at work so we will see how much I can do there.
Horsey, I am glad that you are feeling better. How is your son? I know my daughter is still pretty sick with cough and sinus junk.
WOOOOOO HOOOO
as of today i have stayed on track for one week!!!! *dancey dancey* i just realized that today marked a full week for me.
So I've managed to work out 45 minutes every day, eat 1200-1300 calories each day, and drink my water.
next week Thursday or Friday, when i remember to, I'm going to do my first weigh in, i hope i see good results, I'm afraid to weigh in cause I'm concerned i may not see results.
I'm thinking I'm going to be more lax on Saturday, its my official valentines day for me, my boyfriend couldn't come down to see my today so were pushing valentines day to Saturday when were together ^^ ill try to do some walking with him that day, but I'm not going to push too hard i want to relax.
I'm down 2-3 lbs so far this month! Another pound today. Cardio for me seems to do the trick of losing belly fat. I'm "almost" on track for the week. I went to doing x's on my fridge calendar, backward slash on the days I eat clean, forward slash on the days I do 30 min+ of exercise and I'm wanting the rest of Feb to have ALL X's.
Dolphin, glad you are better. There's a lot going around. My boy picked up a few bugs but he's better too. We had the congestion/sinus stuff in Jan. This has been a sick winter, dr's say more sickness then in years, so it's not just my house. If you are this sick I think you ought to still take it easy, maybe just walking? Or you won't get well. If you have what was going around here it can take two weeks or more to knock the stuff. It's horrible. Dr's are seeing more pneumonia this year, so you have to be careful.
It's Saturday, PLAY DAY! I read this idea in a Denise Austin book, do an hour of fun activities with your family/kids on Saturday. I think we'll go for a bike ride, it's sunny and warmer today. We'll head to the park and I'll do sprints while my boy plays. Last summer I perfected a workout to do at playgrounds with him.
Biked and played soccer with my boy. Did 60 min Advance Tae Bo dvd with Billy, he's TOUGH. Feeling good, hoping that helps the scale! Ate a clean 1200 cal diet, cleaned out kitchen of junk and old food, restocked with only clean eating food. Two more weeks in Feb, time to PUSH IT...
45 min jog today, ate a clean 1450 calories. Going to try to keep cal's at 1400 or so, for energy. 1200 was too low for me. Goal - 45 min+ exercise every day this week with maybe one rest day. Feelin' good. Not watching scale as much, will weigh once a week now.
