On my way Black Friday shopping. That should burn some calories! Talk to you all later.

Darby1 11-23-2007 09:11 AM

What was the Thanksgiving damage? I actually worked out in the morning and was quite proud of myself! Food-I started out really well. We had breakfast and I ate sensibly. I only had one plate of Thanksgiving goodies, and I stopped because I was full. I didn't feel overly stuffed and I was sitting pretty good. Well, I don't know what I was thinking, but I had another smallish plate full of food later that night and it put me right over the edge. My stomach hurt, I was so sleepy, and I wish I hadn't done it. Even this morning I feel like I have a food "hangover".

Hopefully, I'll remember how I felt, next time I decide to overeat.

I hope you all had a great day!

mothermavis-how was the shopping? Was it crazy?

LondonAngel 11-23-2007 01:16 PM

I plan to loose at least 25 lbs =)

mothermavis 11-23-2007 08:33 PM

:welcome2: Welcome Porcelain! Are you following a specific plan? Tell us about you!

Darby- the shopping was crazy!! Kohl's was the worst. I had a blast though. As long as you realize what you are going to be in for, it's fun. It kind of funny to watch the folks who are ticked finding parking and waiting in lines. I mean it's Black Friday... what do you expect?

I showed a gain this morning. I won't worry until Monday's weigh in though, it should be ok.

kyfriedchick1 11-25-2007 11:56 AM

Count me in! In 19 weeks, we are planning to take the kids to Myrtle Beach for their first beach experience... they are 9 & 10.

I'm trying to figure out how much weight I should lose by then. I know a reasonable amount is 2 lbs a week but that is only 38 lbs. I currently weigh 335 & really really really want to get to less than 297 before I put on a swimsuit again. We'll see what the scales show at the doctor's office on Thursday & then I'll set a goal from there. (My scales here at home don't weigh above 325 so I can't gauge my loss here until I get below that.)

I have been cutting back on the foods I normally eat only adding in more protein and more veggies (salads, mainly). I have cut out all of my regular pops (sodas, pepsis, whatever you call them in your neck of the woods) and only drink water or diet pepsi max now. Well, can't do without that coffee first thing in the morning either! This is my plan until the end of the year. If I hit a plateau or don't have a successful loss, I'll switch the plan up somehow or switch plans altogether. I just don't want to feel like I'm giving up something because if I do, I'll rebel and slip.

As for exercise, I'm right now addicted to The Biggest Loser Workout DVD. I checked it out at the library last week & think it is definitely worth a buy. I plan to workout at least five to six days a week doing a DVD of some kind. After the first of the year, I plan to buy a exercise bike or elliptical or something.

mothermavis 11-25-2007 02:48 PM

KFC, Welcome, I'll be there around the same time! Sounds like you have a great plan.

Darby1 11-25-2007 06:14 PM

How was everyone's weekend? I jumped back on the eating plan after Thanksgiving, which was good. I worked out Friday, but it was so hard! I did an exercise video and couldn't quit yawning. I was afraid I was going to fall off the aerobics step!

Saturday was a planned day off from exercising, and today is an unplanned day off from exercise. I just feel exhausted. I've only been working out regularly for about seven weeks, and it seems too early to have exercise burnout. Either way, I'm not beating myself up for not working out, but I plan to jump back into it tomorrow. I think I'll look for a yoga or pilates video to do for days like this.

What goals does everyone have for next week?

Me-I'm going to work out at least 5 days (trying for 6). I want to stay perfectly on plan. I'm going to Las Vegas in 3 weeks and I'd like to lose 6 more lbs by then.

Have a great night, ladies.

kyfriedchick1 11-25-2007 09:55 PM

My goal for this coming week...

Drink -- at least 64 oz of water a day, if not more.
Cardio Exercise -- at least 45 minutes Monday, Wednesday, Friday, & Sunday Strength Training -- Thursday & Saturday
Food -- Keep my calorie intake under 1500. (Today I managed 1236 & didn't get hungry at all so it can be done!)

I go to the doctor Thursday so I'll weigh in then. I'll set a goal for Spring Break once I find out what I weigh Thursday.

Can I Play Too?

Hi - my first post here at 3FC and I'd love to join this challenge.

My DH and I travel frequently for his work and I have a lot to look forward to OR a lot to dread in the coming months. The dread comes in if I stay at this same weight or continue to slowly climb upward!!! I MUST PUT A STOP TO IT AND IT STARTS WITH THIS POST.

Anyway, I'm 46...soon to be 47 in 2 weeks, married to a wonderful man (who eats normally!), no kids. I love to workout but haven't for a while due to life's craziness. I'm back on track as of two days ago.

My trouble lies in the food choices I make. I frequently succomb to the "why bother" or my failure to pause and think about what I'm about to put in my mouth. Does anyone have any experience with this? How do you force yourself to hit pause?

Anyway, I've broken out some mini-goals.
2 weeks birthday down 5 lbs
5 weeks Jan. 1 down 10 lbs
17 weeks Mar. 26 down 35 lbs = Orlando, cocktail attire(!)
20 weeks Apr 16 down 40 lbs = Coral Gables
25 weeks May 24 down 50 lbs = Greenbrier, cocktail attire(!), summer starts

How am I going to reach those goals?
* workout 5-6 days a week; alternating Circuit and Cardio workouts through the end of December and then reassess. (I have a lot of DVD workouts)
* drink plenty of water - 2-3 liters a day (this isn't difficult for me as long as I fill up my water bottles and get them in the frig)
* 5 fruits and veggies a day; eat an apple before lunch (I send my DH off with 2 or 3 pieces of fruit every day so they're here in the house; I just don't touch them!)
* use smaller dinner plate
* probably most important - STAY FOCUSED/PRESENT WHEN EATING.

I could add a lot more but, for now, I think I'll stop with that and reassess.

mothermavis 11-26-2007 08:33 AM

Angeline, :welcome2: We are all glad you're here. I have been off kilter a little with my eating too. I was really focused and then fell off the wagon a little. I find tracking my food in Fitday helps. If I write everything down, sometimes I can stop from eating it just because I can't bear to see it on written out later staring back at me!! Today, I am back to that.

My goals for the week;
water, 3l per day, minimum
exercise, I am on week 2 of C25K, also one exercise tv video every day
eating, clean and low carb, every day, no cheats this week
Not even for the chocolate cake I made for younger son's 17th Birthday today!!

Desiree Brown 11-26-2007 12:19 PM

I do that too! Writing everything down makes you accountable... even if nobody but you sees the journal. Also, (and this sounds so stupid, butit works for me), I think to myself "a moment on the lips, forever on the hips". I pretty much chant that in my head all day :) hahaha

Welcome Angeline! This is the best support for weight loss I've ever had! Good luck with your plan :)

kyfriedchick1 11-26-2007 09:47 PM

Hi Angeline!!

I had a down day today girls... I have beat myself up all evening long. I overdid the eating & haven't worked out yet & don't think I'm going too tonight. I didn't sleep well last night & am exhausted... hey, I just had a thought. (Could you see the lightbulb go off right then?) That could've been part of my reason for messing up so badly today... not sleeping well last night? True? Okay okay... no... it was me. It was all me. Let me show you what I ate... which was a considerably less amount that what I ate before changing my eating habits.

Bfast -- two hardboiled eggs -- had to have protein or else I eat all day long,
two cups of coffee

Drank water all day

Lunch -- went to Golden Corral with the boss man -- ate small'ish salad -- about a half cup lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers; two or three bites of chicken noodle soup; hamburger patty -- plain, no bun, no condiments, no cheese; ten or twelve shoestring fries; a tablespoon of stuffing; plain baked sweet potato; a roll; a cup of broccoli with a teaspoon of melted cheese; and a tiny slice of new york cheesecake; 1 1/2 diet pepsis

Had vowed not to eat anymore the rest of the day because that consumed all of my calories for the day, I'm sure. Took the kids to the in-laws so that I could go to class & SMIL (step mother in law) said "Stop & get pizzas on the way back & we'll have pizza since you didn't eat with us on T'giving." GRRRR... so I did. I had two slices of pepperoni pizza and one piece of cheese bread from Little Caesars.

Okay... so seeing it all written down it doesn't look as bad as what I had myself convinced that it looked like but I still hate that I ate that much. I know... tomorrow is a new day & I'll do better. I know that... I just hate that I messed up!!

mothermavis 11-27-2007 05:34 AM

KFC These things, they happen. Back on the wagon!!

I did great yesterday, even with a small piece of cake I was within my calories!
Last week I had as many bad days as good, but I've picked it back up. I can do this.

Darby1 11-27-2007 09:28 AM

Don't beat yourself up, KFC! Today is another day!

Good job stayin on plan, mothermavis.

Welcome, Desiree, Angeline and Porcelain!!

I've been doing pretty well on the eating plan. I worked out yesterday, and I need to get off my bum and work out now, since I have to go into town and meet my husband in a few hours. Eating on plan isn't that hard for me (yet--I know there will be struggles in my future), but exercising is hard. I really enjoy it and I feel great after I've done it, but just getting down there (I work out in the basement) is tough. I keep hoping the day will come that I can't wait to get in the "gym"!

Enygirl 11-27-2007 11:51 AM

Ok I'm jumping in... My FINAL goal dat is May 26th (Memorial Day) although it's not technically "spring Break" I need more places to post. :D
