My spring break is usually March 13th-20th and usually has a weekend included so it's usually 9 days long. But I probably won't be going on vacation on spring break unfortunately. It might be at the end of May. But I'm still going to maintain my goal of 40 pounds by 4/1 like Mothermavis. I know Mothermavis.. I refuse to buy any more clothes too, recently I had to buy better quality clothes though since when I first put on all this weight I was dead broke and had to buy clothes from goodwill/walmart basically clothes all under $20 dollars. They lasted pretty good though 2 1/2 years since I only had 7 shirts and two pairs of jeans and one pair of black pants so I was constantly re-wearing them and washing them a lot. It's amazing how much better I already feel about myself by buying better quality clothes that actually fit and look nice. I still have a pretty small wardrobe though of what actually fits which is 14 shirts for all types of occasions and a pair of nice black pants and two pairs of jeans. I'm just not happy with my body now. LOL Sxulcmky.. I'm not a mom either but I've got a mom suit too.

Hi everybody! I would like to join this challenge too! I've recently moved to college and it's right by the beach but I can't go because I can't wear swimsuit and can bearly swim (result of growing up a fat child, i guess, so I never took on swimming)...but this April I want to take swim class and be able to swim like everybody. I've already lost 20 pounds since last April because of the stress of moving out on my own and to a new place.

I've started walking at least 3 times a week to go to class and eating less meat but more tofu and egg.

Thank you Mothermavis! I think it just came off while I was keeping myself busy. I did get a lot exercise in those months, like taking martial arts (Karate) once a week [yes, I was one of three fat people in the class! but believe me, it was such a respectful and relaxed atmosphere...it relieved lot of stress too...anyway, getting to be around thin, fit people do make you feel like exercising harder], going to the gym for an hour twice a week, and doing Turbo Jam whenever I felt bad. At first, the Turbo Jam killed me, I got by by just going through the motions, then I started getting used to it and added more energy (or shall I say, "bounce").

I've stayed at my current weight for about 2 months already (those two months, I kinda lived like a slug though). Any way, I've started calorie counting and walking more and back to the Turbo Jam DVDs I go. ^_^

I'm already on a tight budget so telling myself not to buy clothes is no problem....But oh Nice, sexy, spring clothes!....yum yum!

lbs-2 It sounds like you have found what works for you. I have not tried the whole Turbo Jam series yet, but exercise TV has TurboAbs and TurboSculpt, I've been doing the Abs one and I love it. I haven't got to the Sculpt one yet, maybe I will try it this weekend. I envy you the Karate class. Good for you, I've heard that very fulfilling mentally as well, if you can get peace and fit at the same time, way to go!! I used to belong to a Gym, but I found their times and my times just didn't work with my family, and it's small area, not other choices ya know. DH bought me an Elliptical for Mother's Day and together with Exercise TV and like you a walk, usually 2 miles at lunch everyday, I'm trying to make it work.

I was stuck for a long while, but I had a revelation of sorts. I've been blaming my pudge on the fact that I had kids, blah, blah....My baby is almost 17, so time to move past that particular reasoning, don't ya think!! (I know, I'm older than most on the board, and I'm fine with the age and all but I want to look like I'm fit and 41, not fat & 41!!)

Anyway, have a great day!!

From my "diet research" (LOL), (i believe this one though), that low intensity workout make you burn fat, and since you're not burning sugars and wearing yourself out, you'll feel less hungry. That is why I think walking rules (I'll always feel refressed afterward)!! How about we make a committment to walk 10 miles this coming week?

Mothermavis-I love the fact that you're not just putting your hands up and giving up. Nobody's too old to be fit. TurboAbs rocks! If you're starting on Turbo Sculpt, try it with no hand weights first, it is really intense...(having no hand weights makes it easier and allows you to work on correct posture, you'll still feel the burn though!)

BlondeBritBratt17 - I also have "limited" clothings too. I mostly wear hand-me-downs from my TWO older sis. But I was always fat so I didn't mind since I thought I can't look good anyway, being fat. Maybe the frustration of having nothing good to look good in will fuel us both! I've been eating 1500 kcal or less for the last 4 days (cut back on bad carbs like bread, cereal (i take 2 tsp of metamucil with milk instead), ..etc) with exercise ...it is working.

Cherry-I gained weight my first year in college too! Have you started going to the school's gym?

Default I'd like to join, too!

I just registered so I could join this group! I am buying a double jogging stroller today - so I have no more excuses for not being able to work out - and my goal is to participate in the MiniMarathon in Indy this spring.

Default Count me in

I just checked our spring break starts on March 17th. That St. Patrick's day and my daugher's and best friend's birthday. I'm going to low ball it just a bit and hope for a 40 pound loss by then. I'd like more but by then I think the losses will start to slow a bit.

I won't be going to the beach or anything but I hope to do some fun Spring Shopping!

Super Sub, Just looked at your profile, I am exactly one week older than you!!

I am going for 40 pounds by then too, lets help each other get there.

Maineville Mom, how old are those kids that go in the double stroller? Mine are 17 & 20 year old boys, so they'd have to push me now! LOL How long is a mini marathon?

BBB, I don't have the Turbo series, so I envy you that, we just have exercise TV with our cable package, so the only parts of the Turbo series on there right now are the Abs and the Sculpt, but it's great, you get to try lots of different routines, and I get bored if I do the same thing every day, so it helps me to mix it up. Good for you for getting back on the treadmill!!
