I ended up having to go rescue my poor hubby at 9pm on Wednesday. He had to park the car about 9 miles from the house and walked halfway. I picked him up and drove us back home, where he promptly passed out. I'm just glad he was okay - it was in the 20's, snowing like mad, and he was wearing jeans, a polo t-shirt, and a light jacket.
I haven't been working out due to the cold and my arthritis. They just don't mix - I hurt all over and it just won't stop. My normal drugs aren't working, either, so I'm kind of suffering thru it.
Food has been less than great, mostly because I can't go to the grocery store *lol*
Water has been so-so, and I need to up my intake quite a bit. I know it helps my arthritis so I need to down even more than usual!
Biggest challlenge is salt, which I'm trying to lower. It's just hard because I love salt, even all by itself.
I promise a better post later on - keep up the rad work, chickies!
Grrrrr.....my puter has decided to download some updates, so my aggravatingly antiquated dial up has now gone into slllllooooooowwww mmmmooooottttioonnnn. Took forever to get in here.....
JKitty.....Wow! Five inches of snow is a decent snowfall for Michigan and a real adventure for Seattle! Glad you made it home safely.
Shelby....Welcome! It sounds like you have a great plan going there....exercise....nutritionist. Just keep posting and we will give you the positive support you need!
Jennifer....MMMMM......Honey teriyaki chicken for lunch....sounds wonderful! It really isn't hard to cook healthy - just takes a little planning and effort, and a little imagination.
Julie.....A size 14 by spring break is very doable! Not only would you look good, you would feel so much better.....and have more energy for all the walking!
elisha....I think you are right when you say we shouldn't change too much at once. Just pick one thing and focus on it until you have that under control.....and then on to the next on the list.
This week has really been good for me. I have done 2-mile WATP 4 days out of five.....food has been good (with one ice cream episode....which followed a visit with Mom....you know).....water was good, but I would like to up that a little. I don't know if I have done enough to get that scale moving....but just doing something positive for myself makes me feel better anyway.
I'm sooo glad it's Friday. Not as elated I was a month or so ago when I said that, but still happy!
It's been a decent week all around (mostly...there has to be something to mess up a perfect week). I finally feel like I am getting back in control of my food, although tonight was kind of awash! I DID do 22 minutes on the e-bike when I got home, but then at about 3 pieces of pizza and nibbled on DD's crust! YIKES!! But the rest of the day went well!
H=64 oz!!
E=22 minutes Ebike
L=Good til dinner, but I'd say a good day!
P=Make up menus for next week (b-fast, lunch & dinner) and plan out which days I will be doing a cardio workout! Add weights to my routine!
I'm feeling good about this journey this time around. Not being so hard on myself is helpful and I am not pushing myself as much, which may make the loss slower, but I'm ok with that!
MsRD...Woo Hoo on the 2 mile WATP...you and Jennifer got a bet going? Hey, which one do you use. I have the DVD that has 1 and 2 mile on the same DVD and then a seperate 3 mile. Think I will do the 2 mile tomorrow. No reason I can't!
Sorry about the computer! I have the world's sloooooooowest computer at work and it is soooooo frustrating, so I can feel your pain! Sorry also abou the icecream...how's Mom doing? I understand, you know!
Lucy...glad you are weathering the storm! Stay warm chickie!
Elisha...I hear you about changing things too fast, which is why I am going slow this time. Don't want any injuries this time around!! I'm not getting any younger!
Jennifer...did you post today? Hmmm...not like you! Hope all is well! Did I mention how awesome you are doing!
I like this challenge so I hope you don't mind if I join you.
My goals
is to keep it simple
getting into a size 12 My hurdles
over eating
lack of will power My plan
follow the pyramid for healthy eating at least 25 grams of fiber.
6 days-cardio 20 minutes minimum
4 days per week at gym for weights
drink at least 64 oz of water
Morning, chickies! Finally, time for a leisurely post. Yesterday started off with one of the girls calling in sick, and leaving 3000 pieces of mail that were date-sensitive that HAD to go out. I was a folding and stuffing machine! Sorry I missed popping in, even for a quickie.
Ok, to catch up-
Friday-
H: got all 4 glasses in at work
E: brisk walk, but no WATP
L: breakfast- apple & cinnamon cottage double & 1 cup cranberry almond crunch. Lunch- 1 large meatball and 1.5 cups spaghetti, with sauce & parmesan cheese. Went overboard with 3 small plain rolls, when I should have stuck to 1, or restrained myself. Dinner- what my mom called "Wok Meat" when we were little. Strips of lean beef sauteed w/ garlic, and onion powder, with tomato paste. Served with 1/2 cup brown rice. Evening snack- 1 cup of that cereal.
P: picked up 93% lean ground beef for taco meat, chili, meatballs, meat sauce, and 2 nice size bottom round roasts to cut up for stir fries, small steaks.
Saturday
H: got my first big glass here, working on.
E: did the whole 2 mile WATP this morning...woo hoo!
L: good so far- 1 cup oatmeal with cinnamon & splenda.
P: prep some easy lunches- chili, taco meat rollups, spaghetti & meatballs or meat sauce, and freeze. Fold laundry. Clean off desk & file papers
Possibly more WATP later today....we'll see how the day progresses.
Comments....
Julie- great quote. You betcha we're here to do this! Great job with the exercise, and controlling the sweets. I think a size 14 is definitely doable...and 20 pounds in 3 months- will take work, but think about how much better you will feel, able to walk around Disney, chase after my favorite little munchkin, and enjoy yourself without the excess weight. You can do it...I might just have to challenge you to a WATP walk-off to kick things off! LOL.
Elisha- taking it little by little is a good plan. Even small teps are still steps in the right direction. Hope that things are less hectic for you.
Lucy- glad hubby was ok! Brrr- that certainly isn't your usual weather. Feel better, and try to stay hydrated- it helps with the cold air & keeps you from drying out (skin) and getting all flaky.
MsRD- Kick butt with the WATP! Looks like you have it kicked into high gear, and putting it all together. I have no doubt that you're going to see a nice loss this weekend.
Spanky- keep fighting the good fight, chickie. Hopefully next week brings you a little break in the action. Way to keep everything on target, despite the chaos!
CeeJay- Welcome!!!! Good to have you with us. The more, the merrier. And since we're losing, there's more room in here
Can you believe we're almost 2 weeks into this year??? Let's keep this momentum going!
H--water not good
E--20 minutes on the e bike excuse for not going to the gym today is that it's just to rainy and wanted to stay inside. I did go yesterday.
L--Breakfast-cereal 4 oz and milk 8 oz I've nibbled on chips and Herhey minatures- apple and cheese stick--not sure of what I'll have for dinner. Maybe tuna sandwich with baby carrots.
P--Tomorrow it's back to work so I'm packing my lunch tonight.
I need to go back and read your post later to get to know you. I read Miss Elisha's journal almost every day.
I am tricking my computer into letting me on the internet right now. I am typing fast before it figures it out. The repair man did not come, so I am stuck with a psycho computer for another few days.
I am been stinky with my water today. I always am on the weekends. I just drink diet coke after diet coke. I need a program for DC.
crystal light in big bottles was at my publix yesterday. yum! I love the orange. I am not an OJ fan, but this sunrise stuff is good.
all of hubbys friends in town for hunting. I immeadiately split my eggplant rolletini in half last night and boxed it up. Yippee! I have not touched the leftovers. We are having tortilla soup and taco ring tonight.
to everyone I have not responded to, I am sorry. I have a crazy computer and hope all will be normal on Tuesday.
Just hopped off the scale.....and am down 2 pounds (yes, these are the same 2 pounds i gained last week), so don't know if I am making progress yet or not! It has proven to me that, with a little effort and focus, I can lose 2 pounds per week.....so that is the goal for next week.
JKitty.....To the rescue! So glad both of you are home safe and sound. Sorry to hear about the aches and pains.. ...wait til the storm front passes and maybe you will get some relief.
Julie....I do understand the pizza episode. DH bought a large size this week, so we could have leftovers.....what a sweetheart! As you know, Mom's Alzheimers is an up and down disease.....for the past month or so, she has been quite good, but now she is starting to slip again (sigh)....just the way it goes.
Spanky.....Good to see you! Keep battling those crises... ..and we look forward for a very positive Monday post!
CeeJay....Welcome! You mentioned lack of willpower as one of your hurdles.....chuck the willpower. It is based on emotion, and none of us can sustain willpower long term. Instead, focus on a concrete plan (and you have a great one!), set some real time goals and that will get you thru.
Jennifer.....You are doing awesome! I really like it when you post your menus for the day....gets me to thinking about what I have in my cupboard and what I can do with it.
Nikki......I LOL at your 'psycho computer'... ..we have all been there! I like using the Crystal Lite 'on the go' powder.....it comes in little packets and you put one packet in a bottle of water, shake it up, and gurgle away!
It is snowing here! They are projecting anywhere from 3" to 7" in the next day or so......that should make the commute tomorrow morning interesting!
MsRD- Good for you on loosing that 2 pounds. Yes focusing on a concrete plan is a major factor.
I'm drinking water 10 oz at a time every 2 hours, so far I have in 28 oz. I drank 8 oz with my medication this morning. I take synthroid. I'm on plan with the food intake and tonight will ride the bike for another 20 minutes.
Started off this morning with a 7:30 exercise session and 1mile WATP, just to get some activity in. We did chili this morning, and there are 16 portions of chili mac now freezing- 1/2 cup chili meat, 1/2 cup elbow macaroni. I had to use the regular ronzoni to use it up before I replace it with the whole wheat, or dreamfields low carb pasta. Now, 25 meatballs are done browning, and sauce is starting to simmer on the stove. I sure love my italian husband right about now! Well, moreso that usual when he makes sauce This will be baggied out in 2 meatball portions with 1/2 cup pasta and 1/4 cup of sauce, and then when heated up, sprinkled with a little parmesan cheese. Yum! That leaves a few pounds of ground beef that we haven't designated for anything yet, so that may just go back into the freezer. There are the 2 large roasts- we may freeze 1 as-is, and then cut the other into stir-fry pieces. There's a spicy orange beef recipe that I really want to try, and that would be perfect for it. Depends on how quickly we run out of day.
Dinner last night was a taco rollup- 1/2 cup of taco meat on a whole wheat tortilla, with 1 oz shredded cheddar cheese, rolled up burrito style. Didn't have any fat free sour cream to add to it, but still yummy all the same. Made some sugar free jello for guiltless snacking when the urge hits.
Today:
H- need more- have been having diet pepsi jazz strawberries & cream soda, but need to get the water in!
E: 1 mile WATP. Walking around the house. Possibly more later, while watching the 2 hour premiere of 24 tonight. Everything comes to a halt when 24 is on.
L: breakfast was 1 heaping cup of post cranberry almond crunch and 1/2 cup of skim milk. I'm addicted. It is sooo good! I'll never have a UTI problem with all the cranberries I am eating. snack- 1/2 cup peach jello. Need to start thinking about lunch. May end up being something to do with the sauce that we're making.
P: reclaim all kitchen counter space after cooking & packaging complete
I'm also thinking about a nice bubble bath, since I'm a little ripe right now. Maybe do more of the WATP, and then spend some relaxing time. We'll see how much time I have.
Comment time!
Ceejay- keep on pedaling! Great job getting your water in- that is my biggest challenge on the weekends. Looks like you are well on your way!
Nikki- sorry your computer is al wonky. Diet coke....mmm! That's just one thing I'm not willing to give up- they are going to have to pry that out of my cold, dead hands. A girl's gotta have *one* vice, right? Excellent portion control with the rolletini! Way to go, girl!
MsRD- Yaaaay! 2 pounds is 2 pounds, even if they were new additions. Last on, first off...and more to follow. Thank you for the atta girl The menu posting- glad it can help you think of ideas for meals. I'm hoping that down the road, when I'm not seeing losses, or food gets sloppy, I can come back and see what I was doing when everything was clicking.
Julie...I know she's in church, and then busy...how's everyone else doing?
Temps in the 20's for the day, teens at night. YEECH. My whole body hurts - I have bad arthritis in my hands, feet & back, so this is not making for a fun January! (Usually it'll snow here for a day, barely freeze, then rain away the snow. It's been snowing for an entire week now, and hasn't made it above freezing for 6 days!! YUCK!!!)
I cleaned the whole house today for my exercise, but no formal stuff. Gonna ask my sweet husband to bring in my mini-stepper so I can do that in the morning before work. Hopefully we can find it in the garage-of-dooooom. (Yes, it is -that- bad).
Breakfast was a pria bar, coffee w/ creamer and some toast w/ smart balance. Lunch was 3 soft baked pretzels w/ salt. I know, I know!! YECH!
Dinner will be egg drop soup as soon as I'm done on the puter.
Mostly I just want to curl up in my pj's with a blanket, my kitties and a book and wait for hubby to come home from hangin' with his friends.
Weight is still 194, so no JJill shoppin' for me. But I decided to take $20 a week and put it aside so when I get to 170, I get a shopping trip! (By that time i'll need new jeans and khaki-style pants). And when I get there, another $20 per week until I hit 150! Shopping is my addiction, so it's a very good motivational area for me to hit up.
Jennifer - speaking of shopping... I think I still have that leopard print dress I was going to send you!! *lol* It'd surely go better in FL than WA! And you've made me hungry talking about all of that yummy italian food... *purr!*
MsRD - Nice job on the 2 lbs!! I say you gained MUSCLE last week, and this week you lost FAT! Either way - good job!!
Ceejay - Nice job on the water! I wish I was that dedicated - I feel like I'm going to drown or die from overactive bladder sometimes. Welcome aboard!
Nikki - I LOVE that OJ from CL! I could drink that stuff forever. What on earth is a publix?
And everyone else (I'm tired) - good job and keep up the awesome work! You chickies rock!!
I just typed a really long and detailed post which took me about 30 minutes to write...and just lost it....
OK...basically I said I had a crappy weekend with food...way over calories. My plan is to work out a menu and exercise. Weigh in is tomorrow. I'm hoping for at least staying the same! But that might not happen....fingers crossed!
I'm on for a challenge...trying to stay below 1300 calories and exercise (aerobic) 5 times this week in the MORNINGS...anyone want to challenge me? C'mon!
You all rock...I left comments for everyone and was just about to close when the stupid screen left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to bed and hopefully we will be snowed in in the morning and I won't have to go to work (yea...like THAT would ever happen)!!!
As promised, exercise done this morning! WATP 1 mile...it kicked my butt, so the 2 mile is gonna be down the road a bit! I hate exercising in the morning...have I mentioned that???
Menus made out for the whole work week. I still need to work on weekend's menus. There's too much flexibility built into my weekend, so we'll see how that goes!
Bfast is egg beaters and whole grain toast & SF Raspberry/choc latte! I have a cappucinno maker!
I'm off to shower this stinky body. I will weigh in just before lunch today!
Hope everyone is having a great day...oh...we got around 4 inches of snow last night and because of it, DD's school is closed. Babysitter coming over in 1/2 hour!
Being a school teacher, I am home right now. Hooked up a wireless network yesterday, so now I can type away on my laptop...
After the rollitini episode, I have been so so this weekend. Over, but not bad. I had the college boys (now, not boys all in their 30s_ and lots of great football, another weakness of mine~~beer. Grow up Nicole!! I know, I can't help it. It will be this way until after the superbowl.) My one goal this weekend is to Stop Stepping on the Scale. I need to hide it from myself. I subconciously just step on it, and I am psyching myself out, because it goes up and down, up and down.
JKitty~ a Publix is our supermarket. The greastest supermarket ever. Well, I think Fresh Market is, but we don't have one here in my town. Publix is a great runner up.
CeeJay~ Nice to meet ya! Glad to have you here.
Jennifer~ I am Italian, and my husband is from NY (so Italian by association) I love Sauce weekends. He did start using Splenda, and I can't taste the difference. He also has cut way back on his olive oil. It is a meat sauce, and I remember about five years ago, the first time I joined up, I believe his sauce was 10 + points a serving. Yikes!
Hikein2005~good job on the am walking. It is gloomy here, and I have the kids. The gym is closed, so I think I might hit the outlet mall. You can get a lot of walking in there, and the kiddos need new sneakers. None for me, I still have more lbs before any treats.
MsRD~ great job on the exercising. I need to get more disciplined about the weekends. I get all lazy. I need to pull out the work out dvds. Maybe wake up early...
spanky~ you can do it. lots of wishes for weigh in today.
MissElisha~ you are doing great. I understand speedy posts. I think I have walked away from the puter at least 20 times already.
H~ Just started drinking coffee. We woke up about 45 minutes ago.
E~ outlet mall? maybe DVD. DH is on a day trip to Pittsburgh. We might be moving. Who knows. He is so funny, he said to me the other night, if we decided to move, no hitting the cheese. It will all be okay. I have a bad habit of polishing off blocks of cheese. I mean, the whole Cabots vermont white cheddar, all by myself. I bought the 75% one, just in case.
L~I think I will have oatmeal and a boiled egg. I gotta have that protein, or I get hungry and mean FAST~~ gotta get my menus in order. I think we will have a weekend leftover party tonight, and I will start fresh tomorrow.
Snacks WW yogurt. Yum. I also bought some 100 calorie beef jerky packs from Walmart the other day. Really good, and chewy so it keeps me occupied.
P~ Drink more water, do some excercise today. Don't turn into a couch potato, even though it is rainy, gloomy and I have homework to do for my class.
