Hi I didn't drop off the face of the planet!!!

I've been really busy. No formal workouts yet but I'm SO close!! Got lots of the pics hung today, most of the furniture is taken care of and I need to make a quick trip to my storage unit in the building to put the rest of my crap in there. Once I'm done with that, all is well! YAY!

Also, I got asked out for Friday night - woot! And I am GOING!

Food has been so-so. Lots of prepared stuff from restaurants & not so healthy snacks, but for a good reason. I haven't had much time.

I'm down to 187 now so that's freaking AWESOME!!! I was excited to see that on the scale this morning, let me tell ya! Nothing to boost the ol' self esteem like being asked out by a really nice (and cute!) guy, then finding out I'm down another lb. WOOOOOIE!

I'll post a real update in a little bit here. Take care chickies!

Morning everyone!

Yesterday turned out ok after all, though in a weird way. I didn't get a lot of work done, but I was rather productive all day, if that makes sense. We rearranged the art department and did a bunch of cleaning, mostly, and then I did more cleaning when I got home. I even managed to do some laundry (though I managed to lose two brand new pairs of socks in the process--I'm hoping they're just in with Steve's clothes).

Food wasn't good though, because of the pot luck. It could have been worse, but it certainly could have been better. No exercise, and not enough water.

But today is the beginning of a new month, and a new chance, a clean slate. A few of my friends and I have a No Fast Food challenge up for the month, and I'm thinking of asking them to do an exercise challenge as well. Anyone else up to challenge with me?

For the exercise challenge I'm thinking 20 days of at least 10 minutes of physical activity in the month of February. 10 minutes isn't a lot, but I'm just trying to form the habit of moving. And chances are, if I do 10 minutes, I'll do more. Right now my focus is just on doing it at all.

OK, work to do. Busy busy. Have a good one, all.

Unhappy

Evening all!

Ok....so I basically ate myself thru the day. Nothing seemed to satisfy me, but I kept eating anyway.....sweet stuff, salty stuff, junk stuff....just bingeing. I am trying to rationalize today, because I really feel crappy about messing up this bad.....but there is no reason, no explanation. Thankfully, there is tomorrow and I know I can make it a better day.

JKitty.....WOOT! The scale is down, apartment is organized, and you got a Friday night date! Life doesn't get much better than this!

Elisha.....I am with you on a new beginning for February! It is time to recommitt. No fast food? Yikes! I only go out to lunch once a week and, with only a half-hour, it pretty much limits me to fast food.......how about fast food, but only if it is a salad?

Jennifer.....I think we have all had a weird week. I seem to have run in the same circle now for 4 days......the interruptions have been constant! I am thinking tomorrow I will lock the office door.......

I have been on a dead run since 5:30am.. ...and just remembered that I still have groceries in the back of the car! Rest time is over.....and then I am going to WATP until I am totally de-stressed!

Checking in post-exercise, and after "breakfast for dinner."

Logged 7 miles in 24 minutes on the bike. Getting a good start to the month.

Water- good- more than 5 of my big glasses
Food- Breakfast was a cottage double, 1oz swiss cheese, and 1.5 cups diced pears. Lunch was 1 chicken breast, 2 cups of green beans, 1oz swiss cheese, and 1 apple. Since lunch was so late, I had a hardboiled egg about an hour and a half before I got on the bike, and then, so I'm not laying with a full stomach, I had Kashi's Organic Promise Strawberry Fields (mmm-strawberries AND raspberries!) and skim milk for dinner. Calories in at 1382, 4 servings of veggies, and 5 servings of fruit.

Almost time for bed...I have about a half hour before my eyes will be drooping....so quick comments...

MsRD- I am STILL jealous of you and Elisha for having doors. I think I need to work on adding obstacles in front of my cubicle entry, to make it harder to annoy me, and put more stuff on my desk. I was literally tossing stuff in drawers at 4pm, trying to get out before traffic got too bad.

Elisha- I'll join you on the exercise. Luckily with 30 minute lunches, I can't get out to fast food, so that's 1 good thing.

Jess- You must tell us all about this date!

Ok...the eyes are drooping more.... Hope everyone has a good evening!

Default Wooooie!

What a day!! After the insanity of my loooooong day from another realm (not ****, just a very weird place), I went to Sephora and bought myself some mascara. I've never worn it before, and I always thought I would look awful in it. However, my recent makeup changes (from drug-store crap to Clinique) have made my eyelashes invisble. Soooo the lady was rad and got me a brown mascara and I HAVE EYELASHES AGAIN! And they're CUTE!

Then I worked out - 20 min. on the elliptical, 100 situps, and 8 minutes on the stairstepper. I also did 5 squats w/ 5 lb weights, but my arms were tired so I didn't keep it up hehe.

Food today has been so-so. You'll see why in a minute when I post it.

So about this guy... he's really nice, and I've already told him that I am not skinny & perfect, but that I have lost a lot so far and I'm always working towards my goal. He's been thru a lot of the same relationship crap that I have, and he's just really nice!!! He called me last night and we talked for 3 hours hehe. My cell phone may actually come close to using all the minutes this month! :P

So here's my food:

B - Tuna helper leftovers, 2 raspberry poptarts and a coke. (Yea, I know, but I felt like I was getting a migraine and I wanted to eat what I knew I could handle).
L - Handful of chips & a brownie (yeaaah i know again.. but I had lunch today! *lol*)
D - TBD. I think this might be more leftover tuna helper. I dunno. If not, it'll be somethin' in my kitchen cause I just spent too much money on makeup.

I also made a shopping date with my mom for next Saturday, at which time I will hopefully be down a size and need some cute things! But I need cute things anyway so psh!

I know I said I'd do a real update but now I'm all pumped with energy and ready to eat dinner, so I'll actually update tomorrow! I SWEAR!!

Take care, chickies! You guys ROCK!

So just a quick update... tonight was awesome!

I had the day from **** - 11.5 hrs, starting at 6:30 in the morning. OH YEAH.

So then I came home, got ready, and met him there, and it was awesome. We both headed home after dinner and we talked for 5 hrs online... aaagain. And I think we're gonna go do something tomorrow! YAY!

Food has actually been good but I had a glass of wine and a mai tai, so I need to chill out on the alcohol the rest of the weekend.

I'll put a real update together later on, chickies. Take care!!

Good Saturday Morning!

Today was official weigh-in day, so the final tally for January is......DOWN THREE POUNDS!! I was down 2 pounds in December, so, this could mean (gasp!) I might be catching on to this healthy diet thing! February is here and I am pumped with the possibilities!

Jennifer.....Not only do I have a door on my office, but I can lock it from the INSIDE! We were really thinking the day we had that installed! As far as your cubicle goes, perhaps a lovely hedge of rose bushes across the doorway?......or if your office mates are really hard core, 6 or 8 strands of electrified razor wire?

Jess....It is so good to hear you happy again! Between eyelashes and a new man, life sounds pretty good for you. I hesitate to say this...but you have just come off an unhappy relationship and that leaves you ....well, vulnerable. Enjoy....but be careful.... ....yeah, I know....it is none of my business....just the mother in me, I guess.

Julie.....Are you snowed in? We are both under a blizzard warning until 10pm tonight.......lots more snow coming, high winds, brutal temps. Please stay inside if you can. Sounds like a perfect day to catch up on my housework and laundry......after I shovel a path out to fill the bird feeders!

I haven't been on this site in a long time and decided to get involved again. I found this thread and decided to join in, even if it's a month into the cause.

Hurdles
1. Don't prioritize time/activities well.
2. Hard to plan meals for a family of 5. Two teenage sons HATE veggies and anything they perceive as being "healthy"!
3. Lack of personal motivation

Goals
1. Lose 93 to 98 pounds.
2. Drink more water and less coffee & diet soda
3. Eat less in the evening
4. Exercise 5 to 6 days per week, even if it's just a few minutes!
5. Get support for weight loss efforts.

Approach
1. Cardio 4 times per week at gym.
2. Strength train 3 times per week, following cardio.
3. Pilates 2 times per week at home.
4. Preplan the next day's meals the evening before.
5. Pack lunch and breakfast for the next work day the evening prior.
6. TRACK daily food intake
7. Drink 2 bottles (32 oz) of water every single day.
8. Watch less TV
9. Post successes/failures here

I've actually been doing well in the exercise arena. I get up at 5am, leave the house at 5:45 am to drive 30 minutes to the gym, exercise & weight train for about 1 hour, shower and go to work by 8:30 am. I find that if I don't exercise first thing in the morning that it doesn't get done. I pack my bag the night before. It's become a habit now. I want to add a weekend morning of pilates to my routine and eventually substitute one of the weekday workouts with a home Pilates workout. I have an exercise ball and enjoy using it for Pilates when I actually do it!

I usually do fairly well with breakfast and lunch, also packing those the evening before. We have a fridge and microwave at work. I've been packing oatmeal for breakfast and leftovers for lunch. I eat too much in the evening. Large servings of "healthy" food isn't good either. The dinners aren't always healthy either. I'm looking for kid friendly recipes (no onions, mushrooms, or peppers!) .

I'm hoping that posting my successes and obstacles here will keep me on track.

Thanks for "listening".

Welcome, MISongbird! This is a great group of chickies and they rock - glad to see you're joining up!

Exercise today has been okay so far. I plan to do another 45 on the elliptical today but I also ran a bunch of errands (lowe's! yay!) and hauled a bunch of boxes up to my storage closet thingey, so I've gotten a lot of heavy lifting in. I think I'll just do the elliptical and call it good for the day hehe.

Here's the food so far...

B - Leftovers from cheesecake factory (they give you like 8 portions i swear!) and a couple of powdered mini donuts. And a coke. *guilty smile* I like coke for breakfast!
L - nothin' yet, but probably just a snack of some sort
D - No idea yet! Hopefully somethin' healthy

Water has kind of sucked today so I'm gonna do my best to get in a bunch more.

Hurdles today? Food still... not eating much still but I'm trying. I know it's not right to lose 6 lbs a week, no matter how much I may like it. Hopefully I'll readjust pretty quickly. I always get kinda weird with food when I move, so I think that's probably it.

MsRD - I know - I hear ya loud & clear. He's actually in a similar situation so it's more like a friendship than anything, which is something I prefer anyway! And good job on the loss!!!! YAY!

Jennifer - You just gotta come work at my company. We have cubes but we're all goofballs and it's great. Unless you can't stand the occasional 10-second clip of Sweet Caroline (my coworker is obsessed with it but it's funny), then you'd love it! But then you'd have to move up here and away from the cool new place!

Anyhoo I guess I'm hangin' out with this guy again tonight so I'm gonna get this place cleaned up - I think he might come over & watch Clerks 2. *G* If you've seen it, then you know... if not, there's probably a reason you haven't seen it, and I won't elaborate on the weird details.

Take care chickies!

Thanks for the welcome JKitty.

Today DH and the boys (ages 13 & 15) went skiing/snowboarding. I'm not a skier - tried it and hated it. I relish my alone time at home, since I rarely get it. I decided to try one of my new Pilates DVDs today and ended up exercising to both of them!! Close to 2 hours of exercise!! I cleaned house, watered all of the plants (major chore), finished the laundry, cooked dinner and did the dishes. I'm tired and sore.

Breakfast: Leftover sauteed veggies with brown rice and a little chicken
Lunch: Leftover Lentil soup with ham
Dinner: Chicken Parmesan with angel hair pasta & Italian blend frozen veggies

I didn't get all of the water in today. I've really got to work on that. But, since I was so busy, I did watch less TV today!

Have a great evening ladies and a better tomorrow!

Morning chickies!

MISongbird! We're so glad to have you with us! It's great that you've made exercise a habit--that's what I need to do!

This weekend was just plain mentally exhausting, and my typical lack of sleep doesn't help. I mentioned that I'm working on a couple different projects, well, I worked on them pretty much all weekend, and I'm not much further than I was when I started. GAH!!!

*deep breath*

However, I did get just the best news possible relating to one of the projects, which is kind of what spurred the effort anyway. And just this morning I had a bit of a breakthrough, so... eh.

Wow, I'm really scatterbrained this morning, so I'm just going to wrap this up instead of rambling on and on about random stuff.

Have a good day, everyone!
Elisha

Food wasn't too bad though, water was ok. No exercise Friday or Saturday (Eep!), but I did a set of pilates while watching Rome last night.

Today, got off to a bad start. We usually leave for work at about 7:15... I got out of bed around 8:00. Lucky for me lateness isn't a big deal, since I basically do my own thing anyway.

Evening, ladies. Things at work have been hectic- and having a super-high Roid factor, which means I haven't had the free time, or privacy at the office to sneak in a post. Food has been good- worst thing for Superbowl was "FauxNachos" made with baked tostitos, 2% shredded cheddar, 1/2 cup of the 93% taco meat, and a dollop of fat free sour cream. So, tasted decadent, but didn't blow the numbers. No cardio over the weekend, but I did do the Fast Firming DVD in the new WATP Walk Slim series that mom bought me. Last night I did 1 mile of it, since the DVD player was getting hung up, and stalling and skipping. I put it in the computer, and it plays fine, so tonight, I did the 2 miles- it is a FAST walk. 2 miles in 25 minutes- she even tells you that at one point you are walking at 6 miles an hour- a 10 minute mile. Dayum!

Welcome, Robi! Glad to have you joining us!

Ok ladies, time to figure out dinner, before House comes on. Whew- and I am still all glisteny (no, definitely pouring sweat here!) from that new walk. Good workout. Whew!

Hi Elisha & Jennifer! Thanks for making me feel so welcome.

Today I made it to the gym for 25 minutes on bike and 20 minutes weight lifting (upper body). I got the 2 bottles of water in today...YEAH!! My issue remains the food. I've got the exercise down, but I eat too much. I'm eating healthy items, just too much. I'll get there. It's mind over matter!! I have to get into the proper mental space. It'll come. I've done this before. This time it has to stick!

I have to get off...youngest son has to do internet research for a school project. Have a good evening ladies.

Red face

hello all!

It is cold here! The temps are barely making it into the teens for daily highs... .and in the negative figures at night! (And the good thing is, nobody is talking about global warming anymore!) We have had way too much snow this past week.....the roads are a mess! Road salt doesn't work when it is this cold, so the commute has become another adventure! It took me 1-1/2 hours this AM to get to work.....everyone was sitting patiently in the meeting waiting for me when I rushed in late! Sheesh!

Robin.....Welcome! We are always glad to see new folks.. ..and it doesn't matter if it is the beginning or middle of a challenge....just jump in and start where you are. I was really impressed with your hurdles/goals/approach.....you really got yourself together!

JKitty.....I had to chuckle at your 'coke for breakfast'. ...you are not the only one! If I am having a slow-starting morning, I guzzle one on the commute to work......really gets me kick started!

Elisha.....Busy as usual! Time to get that exercise going...pump that oxygen to the brain!

Jennifer.....I have been looking for a new exercise DVD.. ..doing the same one time and again gets boring...so will go looking for the new WATP at earliest convenience.

Bad eating habits and not enough water......so you know where I am today! I feel so dragged out and fat! But....it is only Tuesday, so maybe I can turn this around and not lose any ground on Saturday's weigh in. Sugar seems to be the enemy.....all I need is just a taste of it, and I find myself craving more and more! That is probably a good starting point.....cut out the sugar and things will fall back into place!
