I actually read an article about our body having “built in” stress relievers with high fat/carb food. Our body is telling us to obtain as much energy as we can so we can get though the stressful situation. So we start craving the food with the highest fat/sugar. Our body just doesn't realize we have enuff food to last us a lifetime nowadays. haha
Possibly, yes. And since our bodies are still wired like they were 30,000 years ago, probably also we do crave "carbs and fat"... like, "fruit and nuts"... but instead, we go for the uber-carby-and-fatty junk food version of food.
When you binge you aren't doing it because you are hungry or even because it tastes good. It's all about the chemical reaction all that sugar is having with your brain. Check out this article, it's very informative..... http://www.princeton.edu/pr/news/02/q2/0620-hoebel.htm
Sometimes I totally binge on fruit. No, wait. Let me change that to apples. Anyone know the sort called Pink Lady? Well, the ones they sell where I live are sooo good. And everytime someone in my family buys them, well, I could eat like .. a lot of them! We're talking 6-10 apples. They're a huge weakness of mine. :O
I had a mini binge on baked apples yesterday. I baked 4 apples with cinnamon and Splenda and ate them all for breakfast with some Greek yogurt. Not proud of it but it could have been a lot worse.
I wish I binged on healthy food. I usually go for things like macaroni and cheese, or honestly at times whatever is in the fridge. I feel like i'm just on the ceiling, watching my body sit down infront of the fridge with the door open, and just eat this and that. It's disgusting really :/
I have "mini binges" on granola bars. I don't consider them true binges because I normally plan for them in my daily food plan and don't go over my calorie target for the day, but I can eat 8-9 for 800-900 calories, and they last much longer than a decadent dessert for the same number of calories. My need to eat a large quantity of them is disturbing, though...borderline binge behavior, in my opinion. But if it keeps me from bingeing on high-calorie foods that would result in 3,500-4,000 calories for the day, I consider it the lesser of two evils. I have to do what works for me!
I can definitely binge on fruit, especially mango and bananas. Another is young coconut. I think I've gone through three whole ones in a day. I especially love the water. I am less likely to binge on them, and I don't end up feeling so sick. I also only end up eating a fraction of the calories. I could never binge on vegetables though. Not even potatoes, or mashed potatoes.
Haha y'all should get into the 80-10-10 diet - where you're actually SUPPOSED to eat stuff like an entire papaya. An entire watermelon. 10lb of apples/oranges/whatever. 12 bananas. Things like that for one meal - to LOSE weight
I've never gone quite that extreme but that would sure be fun like during PMS time!
And to explain the whole sugar, fat, salt cravings deal - read "The Pleasure Trap" or watch the presentation on youtube. It's about an hour long and kinda older but I swear, it's the best thing you'll ever watch. Like ever. Explains so much.

I've seen people online put on weight following that diet (as well as run into numerous health problems). I do think it would be fun to do for a week, just to see what would happen.
Well, you're supposed to have about 2000 calories of fruit, HARD exercise every day and sleep 12 hours. If you stick to that you can't really gain weight.
If that's a good idea, makes you lose weight particularly quick or realistic as a lifestyle choice is a whole different question but hey, better than binging on candybars and ice cream
I could totally do that during PMS week. At least one or two meals a day haha
I think the people I saw were eating more like 3000 calories, and not all were doing excercise. It would definitely be better than bingeing on junk, I agree with you there.
