Don't even bring tempting food into the house. I always think I will have the willpower to say no, or eat it in moderation. No way, don't go there.
EXACTLY! I don't get it. I rarely read in this section because I feel it's more like "food Porn" as a dear 3FC member called it rather than support. Home should be your sanctuary, your refuge, not your binging nest. Why in the world do you guys buy this stuff? I truly don't understand. I'm sure this sounds very harsh to some of you and I am sorry to offend. I know some of you have kids/spouses and claim the junk food belongs to them, but do your kids need this crap? And if you think they do will you take responsibility when they become obese, (if they are not already?) And if your kids do "need" it, why are you stealing from them? Do you also rob their piggy banks?
Why does a person who is trying to lose weight, (and manage a eating disorder) have pizza, carrot cake and brownies in the house? WHY? It's like stocking a recovering junkie's cupboards with crystal meth and crack.
I don't know about anyone else, but my roommates are "naturally thin" and can eat everything in moderation. Thus, there are all kinds of foods in the house.
Personally, while I think parents should model healthy eating for their kids, I don't believe anyone is destined to become obese by having some chips, cookies, or pizza every now and then. In fact, I still occasionally have these things myself (although always outside of the house). I also can't expect everyone to conform to my diet just because I sometimes have compulsive urges to eat more than I should (usually triggered by stress). Perhaps if I were head of the household I could just issue some orders, but I'm not, so I can't, and thus I don't.

I wonder at your why?
I firmly come from the worry about what I am doing and not what other people are doing train of thought. Personally we have a treat basket on top of the fridge, its always full (too full because we buy stuff and it never gets eaten!), and I don't find it tempting. My guy uses it for random treats and snacks for his kids on the days that he has them. I had one for my son. None of our children are obese (my son is a man at soon to be 18) and we are all very active.
The caveat is I have done work to get here, and the word choice is a very dear one to me. I make choices every day and food is one of them. When it seems that the emotions may win I have to turn the day over to my Heavenly Father (God as I understand Him). So I think it really comes down to that personal choice and the consequence you choose when you let you emotions make those choices for you. Also for me anyway it wouldn't matter I can binge on salad, oatmeal, and carrot sticks, this is the nature of the disease. So to call it just junk I think might be short sighted. But you do you and I'll do me, and take what you like and leave the rest.
yeah I am about to have one of those moments myself i dont know if im going to be able to stop it tonight Grrrrr....i wish i had some insight so i knew how to not do it either!
