I'm always cold too. I thought it was because I had severe anemia. But once I was diagnosed with Celiac disease and stopped eating carbs, my iron went back to normal and I'm still always freezing!

I blame it on moving to cold Colorado from nice toasty warm Arizona.

Hi All! I finally read these posts all in one sitting. Of course half the time was watching the little kitty pull the red X out of the avatar. (That's cute Robin.

Brenda, I dont' know what I'd do if my bank didn't have auto phone to check my balance. They'd be so sick of me.

I hope everyone here who's sick gets better soon and all you who are trying to, please change your mind.

I have done great and stayed OP until yesterday. It just blurted out of my mouth to get some Chex Mix...and and M&M's. So back at it tomorrow when it's all gone. I'm going to be doing a major stock up with LC groceries tomorrow. So I'm getting together all the recipes I can right now for an ingredients shopping list. Let the LC cooking begin! Talk later, Sonny

Brenda,

Cold is a sign of deep ketosis. Or it seems so to me. Is there sort of a headache that goes along with it? Could be dehydration too. Being tired? Could be the exercise. What level of Atkins are you doing? and how much exercise?

I know induction level carbs (for me) is too low to really exercise well. Ketones are a fuel source, but slow fuel source. You really need some glycogen for the energy to work out. There are people who do a weird form of low carb, they do what is called CKD or TKD. Have you ever heard of either? CKD is Cyclical ketogenic dieting, and TKd is the same except "targeted"... The idea in both is that you create glycogen in order to have the energy to really work out, and then you deplete those glycogen stores again really fast. With TKD, you may eat something high carb, just before a serious work out and then (supposedly) when you are done, the glycogen is used up and you are back to ketosis. Needless to say you don't eat much that is high carb. Smarties is what I was told to eat just before a workout when trying TKD. It didn't work for me because I couldn't have them in the house and then leave them alone the rest of the time!

CKD is similar, but what they do is to carb up on weekends, then throughout the week they do some serious lifting routines, and then by Friday they are feeling wimpy again and do a light routine that day. Some people say this is the way to get the best of both exercise for building muscle and low carb for losing fat.

I just know that low carb can leave you really tired and without energy if you are trying to exercise intensely too.

For me I'm only doing aerobics these days. Not lifting, because I know I'll try and over do it and then will either mess up the diet portion or feel exhausted and rotten all the time. Can't seem to do both. I did try and it was killing me.

Well my scale finally went down. It is still a half pound higher than my lowest from last week, but that I can deal with. I couldn't deal with 3 or 4 pounds higher.

I sympathize with you ladies needing to find work. I'm working part time now myself. My kids are in school both in Junior High, and I take them to school, have my mornings to myself, then about 12:30 I go to work for 4 hours and then I come home about 4:30. They get off school at 3 most days and walk home. I get home not long after they do, so it works out ok. I was nervous about it at first, but things seem ok. Of course they are a little older than just babies too. I really like my job, I'm an electronics technician, and I repair circuit boards. There aren't many jobs in my field locally so I'm lucky to have the one I have. Especially part time-- it is hard to find in this type of job.

Only problem is that I really need to bring more money in. We got quite behind last year and I need to catch things up. Working at home would be ideal, that is if you could limit your hours and didn't need to be spending every moment doing it. I tried that once, with some contract work we were doing for a man, we were assembling PC boards at home, stuffing and soldering them. My babies were small then and I couldn't keep up with the work load and also have time for my little ones. It wasn't ideal at all. It wound up absorbing too much of my time.

I've thought about writing and trying to get things published. Might be fun, if I could do it. I love to write, and I've had people tell me I'm good at it. But getting published? I haven't a clue how to go about that really. Still it is an idea that lingers in the back of my head.

DH's surgery date today. ready to go. I hope to eat healthy while waiting I understand they make a mean breakfast. hope on some bacon and eggs. MMmm

Sherry I did great for about a year exercising hard and eating a bout 50 to 70 carbs daily then like you said i just pettered out and had nothing there. The body does generate glucose from protien called gluconeogenisis (learned that from a great teacher on PP board who was a sientist in sweden really smart guy) But if you read the pplp and the pp book the body generates hgh if workouts are done with out carbs 1 hour before and 1 hour after ghg is responsible for a fountain of youth so to speak. it helps get out skin to become firmer and more elastic, hair becomes stronger increases muscle and endurance and many more I do nto remember, that is also what the rem sleep is good at producing and why it is so important to have a good night sleep with out sleeping products.

Oh Pooh!! I was rejected to give blood yesterday I have never been rejected before and I argued with the guy. I had a hct of 37 i needed to be 38

Susan where in aArizona? I used to live in Phoenix when I wnt to high school over 25 years ago.

Morning All!
I'm feeling much better. I am still dealing with the crappy nose last night. I have lost 2 more pounds. WOO HOO!! I am so excited. It gives me more motivation to get feeling better and then be able to workout. Sounds like many of us are still feeling cruddy, I hope we all feel better soon. This weekend is jam packed w/lots of things, none food friendly. I'm gonna try and be good. Which I know I can. I don't want to gain any of that weight back. I'm only 8lbs away from my Valentine's Vixen goal and I am so happy about that and want to get as close to it as possible if not there. I'm hoping that by Sunday I will be able to start riding the bike again.

Hi to everyone!!

Have a great & OP weekend friends.

Sonny: I know what you mean about the chex mix! My dad had some
of the peanut butter kind and it was SO HARD to walk by it without
taking a bite!!

Sherry: I've heard of the smarties thing too, I wish I could find that site!

Bec: way to go on the two pounds, I'm so proud of you!!! You're SO CLOSE
to your goal, that must feel awesome! Maybe you could print off a copy of your ticker and carry it in your pocket for any times that you feel weak

Brenda: Have you thought about being a work at home mom? I work partly from home I know Tenn has an online business too If you find what you love to do then it's pretty easy to get started.

Sherry: If I am having a stall for longer than 3 weeks and I'm not cheating a BIT and exercising daily, I eat only eggs for 3 days and the two times I've done it it has worked perfectly for throwing off the stall. I get sick of deviled, boiled, fried and scrambled eggs, but it's been worth it

Well, the yasmin I was taking was WHACKING me out so I got put on 200 of spiro and a birth control pill for my PCOS so we'll see how this does
Hope you all have an excellent day!!

I did a search on targeted Ketogenic diets. This first link might help you find the site you were thinking of.

Ok today I changed my signature.

I've lost 16.5 pounds since I re-started last month to pay attention to my weight.

I've lost 12.5 pounds since I re-started Atkins at the beginning of this month.

And I've lost 30 pounds total since I first started on Atkins back in 2000.

This still puts me 20 pounds higher than I was after 8 months on Atkins the first time, and 32 pounds higher than I was a couple of years after that, when I got down to my most recent lowest low... (I don't count my low when I was 17 of 129.... I'm a long way from that one!)

It puts me 7 pounds up from the Valentine's day goal, and 4 pounds up from reaching my FOURTH January goal.

I started really small, set little 3 pound goals one at a time. Now I'm about to go for my 4th one for the month. I seriously doubt if I will make the 4th goal within January, but if not I can always carry it over into February. There are only 4 more days of this month after all, losing 4 pounds in 4 days isn't likely!!!

Still when I make that next little mini goal I will have lost 20 pounds since December.

I love baby step goals. 4 pounds or 3 seems VERY possible.

UGH. I didn't have time this morning to check in and I can't catch up right now. Sounds like everyone is on track or on their way to being on track. I was asked about exercise. I don't usually exercise. Usually a hit & miss type thing. Mostly miss. I've tried getting into a weight lifting routine...ANYWAY... for the most part I'm not exercising. And I'm actually feeling not so tired. Maybe it was a fluke (and TOM put together). Or maybe I need new vitamins (stronger ones?). ANYWAY....off on the run again. Have a great weekend everyone!

Sue, I lived in Mesa, Arizona out by Power and Baseline Roads. I worked in Tempe at Priest and Baseline. I loved it. I should move back.

Tennessee - I saw the Chronicles of Narnia. I'm a Christian, but I thought that comparing the movie to Christian principles was way too hokey. If you don't look it at it from that angle, it was a good movie. I've heard it compared to Lord of the Rings and I say no way to that, but it was worth my time to see it. I did enjoy the movie for what it was -- a movie. I think you will enjoy it.

I read an article on line today on a site about metabolism. A doctor answering a question from a person on that site said that as you lose weight, you will feel colder. She said that fat is a natural insulator for your body and as you build muscle and burn the fat, your body temp will change and it will take a while to adjust. I thought that was interesting.

Sherry - you are doing great. I'm about to hit induction again seriously. I need to get with the program. I've been sick for a month from ingesting gluten and if I just followed the program like I'm supposed to, I wouldn't have that problem.

If you want to find sites that talk about the Smarties and exercise, do a Google search for eating smarties before exercise TKD and you will get a ton of sites that talk about it.

Hockeyfan: Thanks for the information about being cold! All the information like that is helpful

Robin: Question: where does the cat go w/the "x"??

Ok. Did the official WI. Not a pound moved but inches did. So I call it a success. Not sure what the tape measurer is finding gone because to me it still all looks the same---like a fat blob But I'll call it a good thing I don't mind the scale not moving--but I'd like to see my PANTS get loose! I don't feel that is happening. Well, time and patience is the key for me
