Valentine's Challenge
Friday's Journal:
Calories...1,150 Calories burned...2,283. This seems high to me, do you set your activity level low on the Fitday? Weight -/+/same...down 1/2 pound Fat...27% 9% of this was good fat, Olive Oil. I was surprised that my FlatOut wrap was 3% of my fat intake, same as lean Elk.??????? I still didn't get an answer from anyone on Fitday, what percentage is normal? Flower...congrats, down the whole week!:cp: 2Frust...Stalled, I hate when that happens. Koko...Congrats on the two pound loss! :cheer2: Anab...Smoking is a hard habit to kick, I'm an ex-smoker. (I stopped over 10 years ago) Hang in there!:crossed: Have a Merry Christmas everyone. I know that's not politically correct, but we celebrate Chrismas at our house. Jesus is the reason for the season! Bobbi |
bobbi - when I am not nursing I set my activity level to "bed bound" on fitday, and then add in my intentional exercise. This seems to be the most accurate as far as 3500 calorie deficit = 1 lb (on average)
although since i took steps to fix my insulin resistance. I may be better off now, it seems I am losing a bit faster than predicted. |

On a side note, however, I was hoping for an opinion about my goal for Valentine's. I'm not sure that shooting for 27 lbs. in a little over 7 weeks is very healthy or realistic. Any thoughts? |
Calejo - I've met some people that are more inspired and motivated when they set unrealistic goals for themselves, and they are happy with whatever they achieve. Me, personally? I want to actually achieve the original goal I set.
3 lbs a week is DAMN hard. I was reading Poppi's (from biggest loser) myspace profile and she said to go from a size 22 to a size 2 in 8 months, she ate 1100 calories a day (not recommended) and worked out at least 2 hours a day. To me, this is unrealistic. And maybe not even healthy. You may be able to lose 3 lbs in a week once in a while - but then you have to account for the inevitable "plateau" that will happen just as often. Sometimes your body will just refuse to let fat go and even with eating right & working out you may not lose. You and I weigh about the same and we're the same height. I am here a bit late to officially join the challenge, but I'd like to see another 10 lbs gone by Valentine's Day as well, putting me at 14 lbs lost altogether. I think that's realistic, and if I surpass that, I'll be twice as thrilled! What do you think? |
calejo, I think its too much, much above 2 lbs and you are probably losing faster than is healthy
|
Hmm... that's what I was thinking. I wish I could be 155 before Valentine's, and I will work towards it, but I'm not going to kill myself to get there. Time to rethink my goal, be more realistic and just shoot for the best. I think I've been stressing myself out over this as well. Ok, I think 169 is realistic for me. I'm shooting for the 160's! I haven't been in the 160's since I was in High School! It'd be wonderful to get there again.

Hey y'all
Calories: 1900, one hundred above my goal of 1800. Exercise: 75 minutes cardio (some running, a lot of walking) |
Valentine's Challenge
Good Morning!
This post will be short, I have our family Christmas party to get ready for. It's with my two brothers, two sisters, spouses and kids. We have a huge family! Calejo...I totally agree with S.Butt and ennay, that's way too fast and unhealthy. The people on Biggest Losers had a full time coach and doctor around 24/7 to monitor them. We don't have that privilege. Friday's journal: Calories...1,150 Calories burned...2,283 Weight -/+/Same...Down 1/2 pound Everyone have a fantastic Christmas! :ginger: Bobbi |
Ready to start...
Hello Ladies!!
I guess you could say that I am new to this forum. I have posted here before...several months ago. I am ready to lose weight again. I am currently doing the 3hr diet, but I am also calorie counting. I have managed to do OK with what I have lost so far, but I haven't been watching what I eat for the past several months. I need to get in gear and get to loosing!! I am in for the challenge. I would like to get rid of 10lbs by Feb. I would also like to start exercising...30 mins of walking about 3 times a week. Thanks for having this challenge!! |
Hi Ladies! I lost 2.6 lbs this week and part of the reason is because the kids and I have been sick and didn't have much of an appetite. Well, its back this morning in full force. I hope to get to the gym 3-4 times this week now that everyone is feeling better.
I've read that losing 1-2lbs a week is ideal. You're more likely to keep the weight off and if you lose more than two pounds after the first few weeks of a new weight loss program then you're probably losing muscle along with the fat. |
Hi Mel....good to see you again. I am also doing part of the 3hr.diet but mostly calorie counting.
We just returned from a long vacation and I was up 5 lbs., which I didn't think was bad and I have lost 2 of that so far. So I will galdly join in the Valentine 10 lb. challenge and hope for more!!!! Phyllis |
Is it too late to join?

Welcome Mel and Webweevil! I actually have good news to report, I'm actually down 4 pounds instead of up 1. I didn't have my contacts in and read the scale totally wrong :) yay!
Have fun at your Christmas party, Bobbi! And a merry Xmas to everyone that is celebrating this weekend. |
Im a little late but im gonna join you guys!
My goal is to fit comfortably into a pair of size 9 pants that are still hanging in my closet. Theyve been too tight since like 5 months after i bought them, and i can almost fit into them now... I figure that would be about 10 pounds to be able to wear them. 7 weeks til Valentine's!!!:D |
Welcome One and All!
:welcome:
100%ME...We're starting at about the same weight, same weight goal and the same height. I'm going to try and keep up with you! Webweevil...where have we met before?:D Floridarusty and Mel...Good to have you.:high: Lori...Congrats on the 2.6 weight loss! Little Electron...You are too funny, you might have heart failure doing that. :joker: What a nice Christmas surprise to see a 4 pound loss instead of a 1 pound gain. Congrats to you too!. What's the 3 hour diet you two girls are talking about? Merry Christmas everyone....Bobbi |
Just jumping in while I have a minute to myself -- Merry Christmas to everyone! :)

Christmas Day
Merry Christmas Everyone!
I'm sure this thread is going to be slow today. I survived my large Family Christmas party yesterday afternoon. I only ate 1 rolleposte open face sandwich, some fruit salad and a bite of pineapple bar. I actually had calories left when going to bed last night. I didn't get my olive oil in so I drank 1 Tablespoon of it, that put me over by 62 calories. Sunday: Breakfast menu/Fiber One (I didn't eat my usual breakfast, wanted to save the calories for the party) Calories...1,262 Calories burned...2,149 (I doubt that since I sat around all afternoon visiting) Fat...29% Activity...None, I only exercise 6 days a week, Sunday is a exercise free day. Saturdays Journal: Fiber One @ 4:15 a.m. Bologna Sandwich @ 8:30 a.m. Turkey bologna...25 calories. 12 grain lt. bread...80 cal. FF Miracle Whip...15 cal. lots of lettuce...5 cal. Total breakfast 181 calories Total for day...1,109 Calories burned...2,225 Activity...15 min. on Ski Machine Fat...20% Down 1/2 pound this morning. We have our immediate Christmas party today @ 11 a.m. (daughter, 2 grandsons, MIL, DH and myself.) Finally we get to open presents.:gift2: I don't know if I'll make good food choices today, we're having all hors d'oeuvres, BQ mealballs, cheese dips, crackers, all my favorite salty foods. I can pass sweets up anyday, but look out when you roll in the Buffalo wings! Oh! I'm making myself hungary! Have a fun day...Bobbi Bobbi |
Oooops, screwed up!
Sorry, I messed up. I thought I was on the "Keep it simple calories counting thread, that's why I posted my breakfast. A couple of us are posting our breakfast one whole week, then posting our lunches the next week, and so on.
See ya...Bobbi |
Oh Bobbi, you can post whatever you want. You just never know what'll keep someone else motivated!
Today is our last party ... Dh's extended family ... Tomorrow, we're off to the sunny south. I can hardly wait! I'm not sure about food. I think I can try not to overstuff and I know I'll be able to walk/jog at least once a day. |
I took I hiatus from fitday yesterday - now I am tempted to recreate but it wouldnt be pretty.
|
couldnt help myself....I said I wasnt going to but...3250 best guess
|
Alright, I tried to think of every last scrap I ate, and for the entire day I came up with 2400 calories. Not too shabby!
|
Me Too!
I wasn't going to count calories either but you two (ennay & smartbutt) were brave enough to estimate your calories, so I will too. I think this count is pretty accurate except for the two sweet things, (Crushed chocolate wafer from Orio cookies, mixed with cream cheese and dipped in almonds.) DD made them so I'm guessing on those. I came up with 2,235 calories. A lot less than I thought but most of the calories came from protein (BQ Meat Balls & Buffalo wings)and carbs (Wheat Thins) not sweets. I did pig out on the crab dip!:hun:
I weighed the same this morning too, no weight gain. It feels good to be back counting calories! I checked out a new exercise club that is only about 7 miles from my house. I hate exercising as you all know, but I think I'll join for one month and see how it goes. Maybe I can talk DH into going with me. He doesn't need to lose weight, he only weighs 165 pounds. But he could use the weights, etc. to help his heart. Catch ya all tomorrow...........Bobbi |
I'm just going to leave yesterday in the past where it belongs *tee hee* and move forward....Just to prove to myself that my resolve is still as strong as ever, I made sure I got myself on the elliptical and now I feel totally committed again :) Also, today I am eating the way I am supposed to -- it was a lovely Christmas but it's over now & I have goals to make!
|
yeah...I dont know if counting had a point.
I had decided before Xmas to not count, not restrict and not pay attention on Xmas. There is something to eating the chocolate out of the stocking before breakfast that is just part of the tradition. And more importantly I had to know that I could have a day like that and have it be just one day. There were times yesterday that I knew I was eating more than I wanted to though, so that wasnt great. But hey, just one day. But of course the 2 lbs of waterweight that I lost when I quit exercising are back now that I am exercising again, so I gotta get a move on for that valentines day goal! |
I didn't want to completely forget my resolve to watch what I was eating, but at the same time I didn't want to feel restricted, or that I was denying myself either.
Because of this, I tasted everything I wanted to, but kept to small portions... and I was still stuffed at the end of the night, so I certainly wasn't denying myself a good Christmas. I tried to teach myself that I can enjoy holidays just being around good friends and family, and that I don't have to plant myself in front of goodies and stuff my face. I think almost every single one of our guests gave me chocolate as a gift... and I think I will be handing it all over to my friend who works with underpriveleged kids so they can enjoy some Christmas (albeit a bit late) goodies. |
I didn't count for today or yesterday, just because I wanted to take a break. I also took these two days off from exercise. I did weigh, however, and I am up two pounds. I just started that TOM, so I'm not going to worry about it. Anyways, time to get cracking. Only seven weeks left!
|
I weighed myself Christmas morning and was shocked to see my weight hadn't skyrocketted (I was praying it wouldn't be above 186)! It remained at 182 and since I started TOM shortly after my weigh-in on Christmas morning (it must be catchy LittleElectron, lol), I'm optimistic for next week's weigh-in. ;)

Valentine's Challenge
Good Morning!
I ate light yesterday to make up for Christmas day foods, Calories for Tuesday...959 (I didn't mean to eat that light but I went shopping for clearance stuff yesterday and didn't eat much and it's hard to make up later at supper time.) Calories burned...2,225 I just decided to leave this figure off in the future, it makes no sense to me. My fat intake is more important. Fat...25% Activity...15 Min. on Nordic Track Skier (Funny thing happened yesterday on it, I increased my speed and milages and I actually sweat through most of it. When starting out I only broke a sweat for two minutes.) I'm not sure what that means? OPDay...I hear so many people using an Elliptical, I'm in the fog about them so I looked it up in my search engine. WOW, they are expensive!:fr: I'm thinking of joining a new workout place so I'll get to try one out.:tread: Smartbutt...I tasted everything too with the exception of MIL Chocolate Chiffon Pie. I was comfortable full and decided I didn't want to force it down my throat just because I could. Nice for both you and the underpriveleged to get the goodies out of your house and into theirs!:high: Lt. Electron...You're in better shape than me for the Valentine's challenge. You only have 5 to go, I have 7. I did a little math, we have 48 days left and I have to lose 1.5 pounds per week to reach goal. :book2: Calejo...Good for you, same weight. We all need to put horse blinders on so we look straight ahead and get back into routine. Sounds like everyones ready! Where's the rest of the gang? Later..........Bobbi |
My first weight-loss in the Valentine's Day challenge! :carrot: I'm posting my calorie counts on the calorie counting thread as usual.
Bobbolink - we have 48 days until Valentine's Day? I guess we have our work cut out for us. |
Way to go, webeevil!
Yesterday was a pizza party get-together with all of my siblings (6 of us total). I was hoping to stick to 2 pieces, but I had 3 and some salad. However, that was nearly all that I ate yesterday, so my calories were in the 1600 range, which isn't far off from what I'm aiming for (1500). My tummy was bloated with the pizza that's still sitting in it (bleh) so my weight was up 1 lb. Hopefully tomorrow AM that shall be gone, I'll change my ticker then if necessary. How does one put "negative one" in the challenge ticker? hahaha j/k Back to work for me today, but it's pouring rain here so I won't get my walks in. :( |
Congrats webweevil!!!! Well done :)
Bobbolink--I dig ellipticals. They are def. easier on your joints than running or even walking on the treadmill for me. I use it whenever I get bored or my knees need a break. My calories were 2000 today. Oopsies. Even though i wasn't planning on working out today, I think I will do twenty or thirty minutes and then hop into bed. |
Good Morning Valentine Groupies!
Wednesday Journal: 1,158... calories Weight -/+/Same...Same :blah: Activity...15 Min. Nordic Track Skier Wed. Lunch: 2 slices 12Grain Bread-80 cal Tuna & Egg salad sandwich- 80 Cal (Tuna, 2 hard boiled Egg Whites, chopped celery, carrots, onions, FF mayo, Balsamic Vinegar, etc.) Lettuce-3 cal FF Milk-80 Applesauce mixed with cottage cheese 1/4 cup FF Cottage Cheese-40 cal Homemade SF Applesauce-37 cal Webweevil...Group hug from all on your 1st pound off on Valentine's Challenge! :grouphug: SmartButt... :jeno: :jeno: :jeno: It's hard to pass up on pizza, especially with all your siblings gathered together in one spot. About two weeks ago my two brothers and two sisters all showed up at my dad's appartment at the same time and we all remarked how unusual that was. LittleElectron...Keep up the good work with your 4 pound advantage over us!:woops: I'm off to the dreaded Exercise, then I'm making DH and I a huge omellet! Bye for now.........Bobbi |
I have decided to only weigh myself every other day (something that is going to be hard for me becuase i usually weigh myself 2-4 times a day). So i dont know what i weighed this morning, yesterday morning i was 150.5, which i was very happy because that means i didnt gain anything from Christmas. I havent eaten to much today, i had a stomache ache and didnt even get out of bed until almost noon.
Lets see, ive eaten a yogurt(40 cals) bacon (70) 1/2 a grapefruit (60?) chicken(150) salad w/ dressing (70) meat (idk, probably about 150?) and jiuce (110) plus the little bit of munching i did earlier (about 200) |
Where is everyone hiding?
Looks like we went from 23 interested challengers down to a few. I think the key word here should be "COMMITMENT"
Onepercentme...I only weigh myself once a day in the morning before I eat or drink anything. It's the most accurate for me and the scale can vary so much during the day. We can eat vegetables and meat, have them both the same number of calories but different weight sizes in your tummy. There's no way anybody can make sense of weighing that many times a day. It's good that you're scale conscious, I couldn't stand going for a whole week like some do. :dizzy: Thursday's Journal: Calories...1,069 Activity...15 Min. Skier Weigh...-/+/same....Down 1 pound. I can't get the weight tracker to work, anybody else having that problem? I joined a exercise club last night, going in today for my 1st work-out.:tread: I'd love hear from everyone! Bobbi |
Finally got my scale moving again
