I'm still here *waves*
Yesterday, I came in at about 1700 which I thought was too high, but looking at my activity level, it was just fine. Even with the stress yesterday of the death of a dear friend in one state & the death of my cousin on the opposite end of the country (in childbirth...I'm sorry but that shocked me that a 36 year old could die in childbirth in 2006), I still did not give in to the desire to open a bottle of wine or bake an entire cake & eat it. We are expecting the baby to pass away as well but I refuse to allow myself to use a real tragedy as a selfish excuse to eat or drink excessively. |
That is absolutely terrible OnePerDecade. I don't know what else to say except that I am sorry for your loss.
|
oh paula...I am so sorry
|
Hello from the sunny south!
Food is .... hmmmm ..... plentiful and delicious :) But I can walk and do gardening type stuff whenever I want so ... |
Today's calories were about 1280 for me, even though I was a very bad girl and had a sausage mcmuffin for breakfast on the way to work. That thing has SOOOO much fat in it, I hated looking up the nutrition info to put on fitday. Bleh!
Usually my carbs/protein/fat pie chart is in fairly equal sections, but today the fat part of the pie chart looks like a PacMan eating the other two sections. Oops! My last bad food night is going to be New Year's Eve, where my fiance, two of my brothers, and myself all go out for Indian food. There's nothing healthy about the indian food I like, it's all made with butter, and impossible to figure out calories when you're at a restaurant. After that, I'll be in full-force Valentine's Challenge mode. |
Paula, I'm so sorry. It's amazing that with all that medical science can do, something like that can still happen! Big hugs! I'll be thinking of you and your family. I hope things get easier soon and I hope the best for the baby.
I haven't gotten to my weigh-in day yet, but I weigh myself everyday anyway. I'm at 180 as of this morning (TOM is coming to an end), yay! |
Paula--the warmest condolences for your loss. I am so sorry to hear it, and I wish the best for you and your family.
I did a bit under today for my calories at 1565 according to fitday. I ate a lot of junk food, though, and pretty much just like crap. I think my calories are probably a bit higher. Hopefully it will balance out a bit as I only did half of my scheduled work out. |
better late than never?
Hi! I know I'm kind of late to the party, but can I join the Valentine's Day Challenge? I'd like to lose ten pounds between now and then.
(Well, actually I'd like to lose twice that, but I think the only way I'll do that is to cut off my own head!) I have done WW points (the old ones, not the flex) in the past, and that works okay, but I've always been crap about exercising. Now I'm finally starting to exercise regularly, and if my calculations are correct, the two things together SHOULD mean they'll be less of me to love by then. ;) |
Tamibeep - I just started too, so I don't think it is too late. Of your avatar picture, are you a fan of Are You Being Served? I love that show and hope to get the DVDs soon.
|
Welcome Tamibeep and good luck on the Valentine's goal! :goodluck: 10 pounds will be a real challenge, go for it !.
OnePerDecade...What can I say, I'm so sorry. My sympathies to you and your family, that is so sad. O.K. Susan, where are you? On vacation? I know you can't pick food out of your garden in Ontario unless you have a magical garden?:sunny: SmartButt...1280 calories is good considering the sausage muffin. Too bad they can't come up with a ff version and still taste as good. Last time we were in Rochester, Mn. we ate at a Indian restaurant, Yum!:hun: I tried a tad of everything and what a wonderful experience. We don't have Indian restaurants in our area so I can't be tempted. Just don't try to keep up with 3 men at your table. Calejo...You my dear have today and tomorrow before your deadline and I think you'll make it, only 1 pound to go! I'll hold my congrats off until tomorrow when you have a big smiley face on. LittleElectron...I wonder how people come up with their sign-in names, are you full of :censored: and vinegar? Keep up the good work, 4 pounds down on Valentine's challenge. As for me, I'm off the cook breakfast. Later.......bobbi |
Awesome! I know ten pounds is a bit steep for six weeks, but I'm taking into consideration that the first week of a new plan, I tend to drop four or five pounds of water weight. So even if I only lose a pound a week (which is about what I'm aiming for, long-term) I will be a happy camper!
And webweevil - yes! I LOVE AYBS! Particularly Mrs. Slocombe. I haven't gotten the DVDs because our local PBS station runs the old episodes every Saturday night. I'm free! |
12 pounds by V Day sounds like a very attainable goal
I'm doing WW points thing with minimal losage but maybe I just needed to set a goal rather than "uh... lose weight?" I am about 161 right now would love to be 150 by then I've started actually excersizing with a gal pal so that'll help :carrot: so what are the rules? Do we post here everyday our progress, what we've ate and done, etc.?? |
Can I join in? I would really like to lose 8 pounds by Valentine's Day. I don't lose weight very fast so this will be a real challenge for me. We still have a lot of junk food here but I'm throwing it all out on January 1st!:)
|
Welcome Jenna, we all differ. Some post daily like me, others post whenever they find the time. We really don't have any rules, the gal that started this has only popped in a couple of time????????? We just set a reachable goal and work toward it. Thankfully the Holidays will all be over tomorrow and we can all get back on track.
Bobbi |
Stopeatting........Yes, please join us. We must have been typing at the same time and I missed welcoming you!
Bobbi |
I tend to just pop on here for support and to discuss things that are going on in the thread. I post my calories & food on FitDay so I don't repeat it over here except once in a while.
I'm just glad to be in the cyber-company of such great people! :carrot: |
I did it!!! I made my goal (for December)! Without starving, or crash dieting, or anything but eating right and exercise!! WOOT!!! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:
Oh! And I got another cheerleader! I love this! :cloud9: |
Calejo -- That is SO cool!!!! Congrats on making your goal!!!!
To everyone who asked "Is it too late to join?" all I can do is echo everyone else and say "It's NEVER too late!" Welcome! THANK YOU to everyone who has had a good thought for me and my family. We have had some wonderful news...JT 4 (he's James Thomas Griffin IV and no one is quite sure what his nickname will be, so we've started calling him JT4) has shown miraculous improvement!!! His brain & organs are functioning normally & the doctors are now talking about him being sent home instead of preparing for a second funeral! I respect that not everyone believes in God or a Higher Power, but I absolutely do. While we're all heartbroken over the loss of Becky and I know how difficult it will be to have 3 small children without a mother, I am choosing to take comfort in JT4's survival and be grateful for that :) |
Paula--That is *wonderful* news.
Calejo--Congratulations!! It's so impressive you stuck to your goal during a time when most people are gaining. :) Everyone who just joined in--WELCOME. Bobbolink--Haha! I chose the name LittleElectron because that is what my boyfriend calls me. We were both in the same physics classics, and he decided for complicated reasons that I am like an electron. It's cute (albeit nerdy), I promise. How did you choose your name? I skipped breakfast today because I woke up late, but had fish and salad for lunch. I will try to get some snacks in later so I don't get super hungry and eat more than I want to at the party I am going to tonight. |
Calejo...I can't wait until tomorrow to congratulate you!:high: I knew you could do it! That puts you in the lead on our Valentine's challenge, 6 pound gone. :cheer:
1PerDecade...My heart and prayers go out to the daddy and his family, what a miracle little JT 4 is. Cute nickname for him. Electron... Do you still have the same boyfriend that gave you that name? Bobbolink was a last ditch effort for Bobbi. That name was already taken so I just added to it. (Bobolink is actually a North American song bird) My two grandsons had so many grandmothers on both sides so they started calling me Bobbi which means grandmother in Czechoslovakian. My DH even calls me that so I guess I'm stuck with it. How about the rest of you, care to share your user name and why you call yourself that? Bobbi |
Bobbi- A long time ago before I got married I used my name backwards as a character name for something in school. Enna is my first name backwards (Anne) and the Y is the last letter of my maiden name.
It used to be EnnaY, but I kind of like Ennay as a name. I've used it on so many forums now that I just respond to it. |
Hi y'all!
Thanks for the warm welcome. I am feeling all kinds of Valentine's Day love! Paula, I am so sorry that your family is going through such a hard time, but I am glad there's been some hope and the baby is fighting strong. I didn't know things like that happen these days, either. Calejo - you ROCK! That's a great accomplishment anytime, but ESPECIALLY during the holidays! Um... I think I found some of the weight you lost. And to everybody else, keep up the good work! My first day was pretty good. I did write down everything I ate, and while I didn't do a strict tally, I did a quick rundown of the list and I am pretty sure I ate at or under what I should have. (I do WW points, they're just easier for my brain than calories are.) I'm trying out an intuitive eating program, coupled with points, maybe with a little low-carb thrown in here and there. Sort of a diet buffet, if you will. ;) And I also did forty minutes of cardio, which is pretty great for my couch potato self. But my best accomplishment was going out for Mexican food for dinner and only eating HALF of my dinner. I brought the rest home for lunch tomorrow. Also, I did not dive into the basket of chips and roll around. I ate four of them, and then drank a LOT of water to try to convince my stomach that it had more than four chips. Not sure how well that went over. I think my stomach is onto me. Anyway, thanks for listening... I just wanted to recap my first day. Good luck to everyone tomorrow! |
Good morning!
Well my user name is pretty obvious. The biggest problem I have is eating too much. I can't have a little of anything. I think quantity is way better than quality and eat tons of fat free stuff like oleo chips. I do this because I can't walk away so at least pick a low fat low calorie item. I've been doing this since I was 12. I am going to add a counter for exercise. I did really well for a few days but haven't exercised the last two. Some major changes going on in my life with employment and it has really distracted me. But I am determined to get back on track today. tamibeep - What a great day you had yesterday! It's great when one day turns into 2, 3, 4, etc.!!!! 1perdecade - I am praying for your family. My son was born very early in life and has faced many challenges. He has cerebral palsey and uses a wheelchair. He has had many surgeries over the years including 10 this past summer and in August he took his first steps at the age of 17!!!!:carrot: :carrot: Prayer works! |
I'm in Alabama, where I went outside in a tank top to dry my hair in the breeze. It's gorgeous here!
Happy New Years Eve everyone! |
My user name is just an example of my warped sense of humor. It refers to my children (born 1986, 1996 & 2004) AND my spouses (married 1985, 1993 & 2004)...For the record, I am DONE adding children/spouses each decade :)
|
bwahahaahahah Paula! love it!
|
45 days folks ... what a nice number to think on!
Happy New Year! |
Did not do well last night. ugh
|
Just wanted to post and say I am down 2 lbs. I weighed on Friday and started the challenge on Sunday, so not bad. :carrot:
Will check back in next Friday! |
I was terrible last night, totally lost count of calories. It's a good thing we got in a light 45 min. workout yesterday before the "binge".
The problem is today I am TOTALLY craving junk/fast food. I am locking myself in the house and refusing to give in, though! Scale hasn't budged and it's time to kick into V-Day challenge mode. |
Today is my official weigh-in/measurement day... I'm finally done with TOM and I'm down 2 lbs. and now I'm at 177! I'm so excited!!! Half way point of my mini-goal, and my overall goal! So excited!
|
I haven't weighed myself yet. I had Indian food for dinner last night, and I am afeared of the water retention. So I think I will just put it off for a day or two. I didn't eat as much as I normally would have, though, so that's a good start.
I have to say, trying to eat healthy when you are eating out is HARD! My husband started working on a kitchen project that required everything to be moved off the counters (he's painting the undersides of the cabinets) and it's too paint-smelly and messy to cook much in there. So we've eaten out the past two nights. I'm really enjoying not having to clean or cook, but I'm a bit tired of negotiating restaurant menus. SO much easier to eat at home. Anyway, Melissa - congratulations! Woot! Two pounds! And Ennay, don't beat yourself up. Even if you're not too pleased with what you ate, that was like, a year ago! And there's no sense worrying about it now! ;) It's a whole new month to start over! |
I had Indian last night too! Yummy. I really don't understand the scale sometimes. The fiance and I had a ton of indian food and then went out for ice cream, too! And yet today the scale says down 1/2 a pound. Go figure.
Just 9.5 lbs left to go on the V-Day challenge! hahaha |
January 1st
Good Afternoon ladies!
DH and I celebrated New Year's Eve the same way we do every year, stayed home. (Too many drunks on the road) My Sunday Journal: Calories... 1,221 Fat...15% (I didn't get my Tablespoon of Olive Oil in) that's why it's so low. I've averaged a tad over two pounds a week and happy that I haven't hit the dreaded plateau yet. ennay...Thanks for sharing about your name, I'm so nosey. Isn't that what killed the cat? tamibeep...Good for you eating only 1/2 your Mexican meal. I laughed when I read about the 4 chips. I love salty foods and when I eat pretzels, I measure out a few, then SUCK on them until they dissolve in my mouth. How pathetic is that? It takes forever to eat but my tummy is satisfied. Stopeating...Probably a good name for all of us or we wouldn't be posting on 3FC's. I like quantity too, which is why I eat all Fat Free/Sugar Free products. The only problem is it works too good. 99% of the time I'm short of my 1200 calorie per day goal. I usually have to eat a Tablespoon of Olive oil+ popcorn at night to reach my quota. Susan...Alabama, tank top, glorious weather............:p :p :p We had two inches of snow last night, this morning I shoveled snow with DH then went Cross Country skiing. It was beautiful out, looked like diamonds sparking all over. OneperDecade...I have a warped sense of humor too so I can appreciate your user name:joker: I had to contact Chellez this morning because I put in 12-31-06 weight for my starting weight on the Biggest Loser Challenge. I had forgotten what weight I gave her when she asked for everyone's final weight. That's to my advantage because I was 155.5 at the time. I've lost since then, when are you going to post your weight? Par12199...congrats on the two pound loss!:cheer2: SmartButt....I'd love to know how your name came about;) Now that you shocked your tummy last night, maybe it'll make your scale move once you get back on program. Callejo...Congrats to you too on the 2 pound loss. Like Susan said, "45 Days" left. Time for me to get off my duff, Later! Bobbi |
Hey all! Happy New Year to all of you :) I went to a New Year's Eve party, and I ended up eating a lot less than I usually do. However, I look forward to a certain dish all year, and I def. made sure to enjoy it when I had the chance! I'm down one pound, congrats to Callejo and Par12199 for losing.
Oh, and Bobbi--the boyfriend that gave me that nickname and I are no longer together :( |
Hey Susan, I lost a post I guess but just said I live in South Florida and have shorts on! In the 80's down here.
I have lost 2 lbs. so far for the challenge. It's a start. Happy New Year everyone. Phyllis |
My fiance and I walked at a brisk pace around our neighborhood, some flat, some slightly hilly, for an hour. I wore my heartrate monitor & with my age/weight/etc plugged in, it estimated 400 calories burned! Sad that walking an hour for my body burns that much in a way. Fitday calculates 130 calories burned. Yeah right.
My legs are doing that "pinging" sensation. Anyone else ever get that? Ah well, off to make dinner! |
Hi everyone
Hope you don't mind me joining this challenge. I put on a shocking 10 lbs over Christmas so my V-day goal is to get back to what I was before. How can it take so long to come off, but so short a time to go back on again? I had a good day today. Even after New Year's Eve at my mum's, having the most gorgeous roast chicken dinner with yorkshire pudding and sausages, and trifle for dessert, I was down a pound this morning from yesterday. I did my exercise DVD for the first time since flipping Easter. Over the summer I did a fair bit of cycling and walking but since September all I've really done is a bit of halfhearted swimming. So, New Year, new start. I'm back doing my DVD three times a week like I did last year. But, I tell you what - it's a heck of a lot easier than it was last January! |
Hi Robsia! Welcome!
I just love the idea of having chicken AND sausages for dinner! Yum! Um.. I mean... hey, I love spinach. No, really. We're glad you're here! |
Not a bad day today. I exercised 65 minutes. My calories were around 1500 which is high for me because I was picking on cashews left over from last night. Still not terrible. Yesterday I walked for 30 minutes and rode my bike for one hour. I go back to work on Wednesday and my next two months will be totally crazy. I will really need to work to get the exercise in.:)
