I don't really have anything to say this morning on my own behalf but ...
Hooray, Tammy on reaching your goal!

And a "more compact blob" That's too funny!

Hello ladies,

I was reading through your posts and I see that several of you post your daily calorie deficit. Where are you getting your calories burned from? I was thinking maybe calorie king?

This sounds like a great idea. Do you aim for a certain deficit daily or weekly?

I am just starting to do calorie counting. I was going to go back to doing Weight Watchers but why do I need to go to all the trouble of figuring points when I can just count calories, duh!

Thanks,
Tina

Justkeepswimming, most of us use Fitday to track calorie intake and output. There is a feature where you can enter your activities and Fitday will tell you approx. how many cals burned from them.

Same here! Counting calories actually saves a step because you don't have to convert the calories, fat and fiber to the Points value. I like easy!

Calorie counting! Have I mentioned .... oh never mind.

Hi Tina and welcome! Yup, we use fitday. troublesome as it can be, we struggle away with it. I believe how we started out here at KISS was the notion that in order to lose weight, you have to use more calories than you eat. All we try to do is eat less and move more. We hang out here, discuss things a bit, help each other with things and fitday and shoot for having a calorie deficit each day.
It's simple (I am that's for sure) and it looks like it's working very well.
Besides all that, this is a nice group of folks.

Well, I started this one and I've barely posted.

Have been a tad down because the scales keep going up

no reason other than fluctuations - I have been really good and kept my calories within 1250 and 1350 every day - I have been doing my exercises three times a week. But it's gone up 0.7 since Sunday.

I know it's not much and I know it's just a fluctuation and I know I should only weigh daily and I know it'll go down by next Monday - LOL!! This happened last week - I spent 5 days going up and down and I still lost 2 lbs by the end of the week.

I really should only weigh weekly.

I actually had a small piece of cake today. One of my pupils at school had a birthday and she gave me a little piece. But I was good - I took it home and weighed it and put it on my calories allowance and had a smaller dinner to compensate. According to ND it was actually only 130 calories for a 45g piece - I was quite pleased. It was nice though!

ya know Robsia ... if you disappear a fat chick comes thru the internet lines and finds you

Of course you had to have the wee gals birthday cake! That's the beauty of calorie counting, you just work it in. Two pounds over a week is great work!

hello ladies...I had a deficit of 1016 yesterday...the reason it's higher is because I stayed at my calorie intake but I worked all day yesterday and then went back in at midnight to do inventory so I added 4 hours of work to my activities along with my workout..

welcome Tina

Yea!!! I found a home!! I believe this is just what I've been looking for in a support group.

Some info about me (if you haven't picked it up from elsewhere):

Age 34 (Oh NO! That means I'll be 35 in July!)
Married (2nd times a charm! Right?)
One small child - 23 months (The doctor said it was a boy when he was born. The doctor is wrong. He is a cross between a monkey and puppy dog).
Full time job #1 - Mommy & Wife (Yes, it's my fault they are both mama's boys - but I like it like that!)
Full time job #2 - Chemical engineer with La. Dept of Env. Quality
Home Town - Baton Rouge, LA (Geaux Tigers!!!!!)
Start Date - January 17, 2006
SW - 198.5
CW - 189
GW - 160
Eating goals - whole foods for me and family; 3 main meals; 2 or 3 snacks; around 1200 - 1300 calories/day (may need to change that b/c my body is freaking out a bit)
Exercise - I have my own elliptical machine which I try to use 3 or 4 times a week for 30 minutes and yoga (at the Y or at home) twice a week

I am a huge fan of FitDay. So much so that I bought the PC version which I really like for all the charting capabilities. I have been finding my calorie deficits run on the order of 1000 cal/day or so.

Today is going to be a challenge b/c (1) small monkey/puppy boy woke up at 5:30 a.m. (couldn't find his noo - I've got to break him that) which makes me miserable (2) I'm doing some weird "spotting" that makes my tummy feel kind of "ugh" so I ate some chocolate but that didn't help (3) we are having a b-day party for a co-worker and I made a fabulous cake that I have to try.

Okay, now that I've gone on longer about myself than anyone probably cares about, I should go back to work reviewing fun and exciting environmental reports! Yippee!

Welcome AJsMa! I think you're gonna fit in here very well! I'm a 'tidbit of information' junky so I appreciate your introductory post very much. Lots of yummy details.
Monkey puppy boy! too funny.
Chemical engineer? ooo impressive!
8ish pound lost already ... good work.
Whole foods! Absolutely. I'm a whole, natural food nut. You'll ge tired of me saying that.
As for the challenging day .... that's the real beauty of calorie counting, isn't it? Just work that cake in ... average it out ... and voila! hardly a blip.

I appreciate this thread for lots of reasons. It's not too busy and demanding but there's always someone checking in with good news, ideas ... It's a pleasant, encouraging, level headed group!

Hi there, AJsMa! Nice to "meet" you! I'll also be 35 in July - on the 15th. It's about time I learned how to eat properly, huh?

Calorie counting going smoothly here! I really like it actually! I keep at least a 1000 deficit going every day - sometimes a little more. Been working out like an animal. 90 minutes -2 hours almost every day. It's becoming second nature. No longer "I've got to work out today"...now it's just a matter of when and what I do. Got into my 18's easily the other day and got my 16's pulled up over my hips - but couldn't zip!

Glad to see that everyone is doing well. BBL...

Robsia - you're doing great. I too am learning to not put so much emphasis on the scale. I see 1-2 pound fluctuations every day! As long as we are doing what we need to do, there is nothing to fear! I'm learning to not listen to any NEGATIVE SELF TALK! I posted about this on another thread I post on here. Life is about more than what we eat, or how much we eat, or how much we weigh, or how much we move ... I have to remind myself from time to time that it's not black & white ... it's not that either I'm perfect or that I'm a total failure! I have to stop and listen to my thoughts - especially this one: "I'm a pound heavier today. My day is ruined!" Nonsense! I've started to think more rationally and understand that it is normal for weight to fluctuate a couple pounds! Plus, I sure as *#@^ KNOW I HAVE not gained a pound of FAT!

Please, MomTo2SweetPeas, tell me how you have time to work out for 90 minutes a day!!! I'm lucky if I can get on the elliptical for 30 minutes! Kudos for you!
