evening everyone
It's been a really long day and I'm tired so we are going to the movies tonight...so I may not exercise today unless I have energy when I come home...I had a 1042 deficit yesterday but like I said earlier I didn't get all my calories in yesterday...but doing better today

Jazz- yes I used it inplace of mayo..I didn't really taste it..it just kept my sandwich from being dry..

Flossygrl - welcome ..this i a great group here...ask any question you need...I'm also on my feet moving around from 8-10 hours aday...I set my lifestyle at sedentary and I add my work in as standing desk clerk..I agree with Carrie I would rather underestimate calories burned...

anita - I love fitday...it helps alot to keep you on track....I am eating around 1200 calories a day..I am also adding protein powder to my food to up my protein intake..I don't eat alot of meat...I am eating alot of fruits & veggies though

K well going to movies now ..I'll talk at you all later

hmm.. I never noticed the occupation option. Pretty strange occupations, locksmith? book-binding?
I don't see nursing though.
hmm.. how can they have "chinking a log cabin" and not nursing.. I must be missing something.

oops.. I did find it..

ok.. so I am adding that to my activities on the days that I work.. and I also changed my lifestyle to sedentary. Hopefully, that will be a better gauge. I would rather be pleasantly surprised than royally pissed.

So, my calorie deficit for today is 1,599. which does not seem right at all..

Is it good to put in sleep time so that you get a more accurate count of calories burned? I noticed that w/o sleep time my calories burned was higher.

Incuding sleeping makes less than 100 calorie difference (lower) BUT it doesn't give any activity calories. This is why I use sedentary. I'm not, therefore, my calories burned in all probabilty are going to be higher than what fitday says and that goes into the unaccounted deficit department.

Also, remember that even the fitday calculator is just an estimate so don't invest all your confidence in it. Your deficit/surplus may be actually different but in time you will figure out how close to fitday you really are and you'll do so by the weight you've lost versus what you've eaten (accounting for salts, etc).

Okay, here goes...prior to yesterday my average deficit was 600. Yesterday it was a surplus of 500!!! I'm just gonna hold my head high and keep moving forward. Hopefully that munchie mountain is in my past this month.

Welcome to everyone! Sorry, I can't remember everyone's name

Flossy, I laughed hard enough at "chinking a log cabin" to bring dh in from another room to see what was so funny. I love your humor!

Hi Folks ... so much catching up to do ... let me try.

Donna, what movie did you go see?

Flossy, can you give us a link to your fitday?

Carrie, lots of good points. You certainly have to fool with fitday before it becomes accurate and/or unique for your body. You're doing good work.

Retro, your fitday looks OK. What activities did you do? And we'll have to work on your food

Candieangel, if you're going to leave your lifestyle that high, you are going to have to add sleep. I think your total calories burned seems high. And do we ever have to talk about your food!

I did not have a deficit yesterday. Got into a carb binge in the evening. Try again today!

I had a 544 deficit yesterday...going to do my biggest loser workout in a few and ride bike tonight

Well.. hmm.. I didn't eat enough today, that is really apparent. It seems like I ate the entire time I was at work though. Not getting enough protein either, mostly carbs.

My deficit for today is= 1833 (yeah right) I bet if I run upstairs and check my weight I have not lost 1 lb in the past two days.. baloney. I am going to keep track of my "deficit" for a week, and see what it really translates to.. I find it hard to believe. I am just going to stick with trying to eat between 1200-1400 calories today. (which I totally missed the mark on today.. only 946 cal)

Susan~ my link to fitday is on my signature (I added it to the bottom of my post too, since they are only allowing one signature per page)

1dayatatime~ glad I could make you laugh.. I got quite the chuckle myself. I am still trying to figure out who is responsible for choosing which occupations to include on fitday.. bizarre..

I know I need to work on my food. I have no idea what to eat and I'm low on funds. I'm going to the grocery store tonight to pick up some stuff. Is is the problem more so what I'm eating or how much I'm eating?

As far as activities, I do a lot of walking around campus (I'm a student) and from my car b/c I don't want to pay for parking lol. I do some calisthenics and I've been procrastinating on going to the gym.

Tomorrow, I will try to figure out how to put all the Chinese food I had for supper in fitday. Oi! I've been working on my fitday activities a bit, I'll let you know if I discovered anything fabulous in the morning.

Flossy? we'll have a look at your food tomorrow OK? But I think you have some good insights.

Retro? we'll work on an economy diet for you And good work on the walking and saving money on parking.

Everyone else??? Good night!

Hi everyone

Can I join? I've always dieted using calorie counting and I've always found it DOES work, so long as I actually do it!!

I use Nutridiary and there doesn't seem to be a way of making my page public. But I started dieting on 2nd January and I've lost 7 lbs so far.

Average daily calories: 1289
Average daily deficit: 1241.5

I have lost more than the program said I should have (it said 4.9 lbs) - but I know you always lose more in the first couple of weeks.

God i feel your pain. I hated it when i lost my job! unfortunately you suffer nutritionally whenever funds are low. everything that is bad for you is the cheapest and it sucks!

good luck and God Bless.

My deficit yesterday was only 170 but that soooooo beats the surplus the day before. Okay, the weekend is over and the munchies have subsided a bit - I think I'll live.
