VEGAS-Glad to hear you back to the 150's again.Got back from the doctors where he read the MRI to me,saying that I had a disc that's in the spinal section of the tail bone that caused the sciatic nerve to hurt. The only thing that he could do for me if still hurting was a cortisone shot or if it gets too bad back surgery would be necessary.
I ask him if there anything I could do to prevent this in the future. He told me core exercisers. like crunches,I told him is impossible to lay on my back and do them. Than he asked if I had a ab machine, I told him yes, but I haven't use it in a long time. I do have a booklet that has standing back exercisers called "Banish the Potbelly"So I'm going to try to do some.
The protein shake brand that I bought was EAS [Energy-Athletics-Strength] soy protein.with 170c per 1 scoop. The favorite I picked was vanilla but you can get in it choc & strawberry. I like the vanilla as I make pancakes from the powder.I just had one 1 hr ago and I'm not hungry.
Don't know for sure about my belly but it looks like it is,the pants I'm wearing really don't tell. They still tight on me. We'll see by Monday weigh in & measure day.
Beach - Thanks for the congrats!! Also, thank you for the protein shake info. Im going to Walmart for our weekly grocery trip on Sunday and will check it out! I suppose the MRI results are both good & bad. You have been walking better, so thats a plus for sure. The worst case scenerio is scary, but there is prevention, and you losing weight, eating right, & exercising can only help that. Pilates is GREAT for core exercise and they have sitting & standing versions you can do. I am a pliates addict now because it doesnt feel like you're doing much, but you're sore the next day. They also make videos for core exercise you can get!
Im proud of myself! I did 30 minutes of a cardio bootcamp workout in the morning, and 15 minutes of arm strength training in the afternoon. I want to try to focus on strength 5 days a week for a short period of time each day. I want to rotate areas (arms, legs, & tummy) because now is the time I need to start toning even more.
Another drizzly day so I'm compiled to exercise indoors today. According to my chart of calories in - calories out, the exercising that I'm doing is really lowering my calorie intake, and that's dangerous, especially to weight loss. I remember being at WW and when my calories we're brought under 1200 I either gained or stalled. So I decided to exercise once a day and not the two that I'm doing.
VEGAS-You're welcome I hope that the protein shake is to your liking. There are many on the shelf,so if you don't like this brand than you can go to another. Oh No!!I don't think that it will go that far for back operation. At my recent Osteoporosis scan said that my back, hip we're free of the Big O,it just my left wrist that has a little bit,so I'm not worried. Never thought about Pilates,I'm going to look the exercise up on the net and see what it says. Thanks for the idea.
You should be proud, with all the time & afford your putting into calorie control and the exercises you do, plus having young ones to take care of every day. again.
Vegaspunkermom Good for you working out! I love doing my strength training, and I am trying to build some muscle now too, because I'm starting to get some loose skin on my arms where there was fat and I want to tighten them up a bit.
beach bum Strengthening your stomach muscles helps support your back. I know since I have been doing crunches my back has hurt a lot less.
So today's WI I was down to 147.6! I guess my TOM bloat was hanging on for several days after TOM was over. I have also been very careful about my sodium which is probably helping. One more pound till I get my next penguin, and 2.6 to my next mini goal.
I was shopping for nonperishable trip food today and discovered low fat, whole wheat canned ravoli and spaghetti Os at Safeway (Eating Right Safeway brand)! Canned ravoli was always a guilt pleasure around our house and the DH was so excited I found some we can have he insisted on those for dinner instead of what I was going to make. He says they are just as good and less salty that the chefboyardee ones, so he is really happy.
I figure I need to take about 10,000 calories worth of food for the whole driving part of the trip. I'll get fruit on my way out, but I think I have enough of the healthy ravoilis/spagOs, low sodium low fat soup, low sodium turkey jerky, low sodium crackers, Special K bars for breakfast and other healthy bits.
Good Morning everyone!! I start my 'journey' today. Happy to say I am 1 pound less than I was last week, and I haven't even started yet, LOL Plus, TOM started yesterday!!
Sorry I was M IA Yesterday as everything was running late and in the after noon I relaxed and watched the golf tournament.
Got on the scale it morning and I lost .5== I'll take it, hopefully the two losses is a row will a new Wave for me to get to the shore.
PRINNY-That the problem I can't do crunches as I can't lay on the floor with or without a mat with a bad back. I have to fin another way to get the tummy flat again. Congrats on your 2.6 weight loss.
LADYVIV=Welcome to the chat, and big congrats on your 1 lb loss. I guess TOM will do that every time, fortunately I get rid of him several years go.
Hi everyone:
UPDATE: Had a successful weekend weight loss wise (not so much for all my chores). But with the spouce gone, I want to keep my priorities of me and kids up there and let those darn floors wait a bit before their scrubbing. In the scheme of things, it's just fine. I forgot in the past few weeks to update my calorie burner tracking devise (forget the name) with new lower weight. It's nice to keep inputting new lower weights but then I had to really work harder to burn my target calories. Whew. Did it though.
My next "watch out for..." is that I tend to get extremely intense and push my goals up and up and up. This leads to my back going out, my knees snapping, and general very bad things. So, I'll need to keep up my diversified exercise on top of my DVD at home so I don't overdo one thing more than another. I'm feeling the pain this morning but luckily it's not injury pain--just warning that I'm "on the edge".
QUESTION: What is TOM???
Ladyviv: Yeah for the pound and hope this week works well for your goal.
Beachbum: Thanks for your message today. Very interesting and something that I'll also need to be alert to. Appreciate you sharing.
I've been doing standing abs since January. I think if you really concentrate, hold your core in, and keep it up, you'll find these can be effective. I've got a bunch of my own body issues (bulging disc up near my neck, hip that didn't go back after pregnancy, bad arthritis pain in the knees, and an old ankle injury). I've found the pain in all these parts have been my biggest asset this year with weight loss. Every day somethin' hurts and it reminds me to stay on course for every meal and exercise. My weight loss now has really helped with pain in knees. It's still a work in progress but the loss has definitely helped.
Hey everyone. I joined in the last chat then sort of disappeared. Well I'm back again, hopefully I can stay on track this time. I had just started working out with 30 Day Shred and was doing pretty good at it, then my son got sick, then I got sick, and it's been a slow recovery. Whatever I have is truly exhausting. But my plan is to start over with that on Wednesday. Obviously exercise is good, but I feel like I REALLY need it to help me stay on track calorie-wise. I feel so powerful and energized when I'm exercising consistently, and that reminds me to watch what I eat. I'm counting calories until I start again, but I am looking forward to that.
Bleh Monday. This is the busiest week in a long time for us. More about that later, personals first.
Beach - Thanks so much for the big applause! It certainly hasnt been easy, but its been so worth it its beyond words. I know you understand since you're doing it too. I agree with exercise lowering your calorie intake even more. I really havent even thought about that, but its so very true. Congrats on your loss! .5lbs is great, and better than maintaining or gaining! I hope that gives you an extra boost too. I always feel when I see a loss, even a loss of a small gain, that it boosts me in the right direction.
Prinny - w00t for your weight! You're making alot of progress now! Last month thats exactly what my TOM bloat did! It was there like 4 days after TOM was over, and I was freaking out. Here I am again, about ready for TOM, and feeling the bloat. Im not W-I until its over. Glad you're on the food tip for your trip and your choices sound great. When do you leave again?
LadyViv - Congrats on the official start of your journey. You will forever remember that day.
Iarad - I do standing abs too! I like it, and I keep saying if it werent for extra loose baby having skin, my stomach would be totally flat now. I think it looks pretty darn amazing for having had 3 kiddos, but still a tummy tuck would be my dream Good for you for keeping it all up while your spouse is out of town!
Amy - Sorry about you & your son being sick. Things happen that deter us from our goals, but I think motivation is the real key that keeps us going. Get better & get back to it
Hello to everyone else whos busy these days!
Ugh, as for me, TOM bloat, laziness, & blah is here no doubt. I refuse to let this all stop me this week, as I have TOO much going on. Im going to be very strict with myself as far as calorie intake goes. If I dont exercise that day, Im sticking to 1200. If I do exercise, Ill move it to 1300. Period. I mean, for goodness sake, Im 4LBS away from goal!! *Looks to the sky* Please, 4lbs. please. Ill settle for goal.
Yesterday we stocked the house with food & I got my nails & toes done for this busy week ahead.
Today Im dragging the kiddies to the store to return a dress and get a different one for me. That should be a blast :/ Im also getting all of the laundry done.
Wednesday Im cleaning the house from top to bottom, and making my oldest little girls' birthday cake for her at-home celebration.
Thursday my oldest baby turns 5! Im meeting up with my mom who is buying her a new bicycle, and we're taking the kids to Chuck E Cheese. Then that evening we'll do cake & presents from Mommy & Daddy at home
Friday is my little sisters high school graduation. The ceremony is 2.5 hours, and then dinner after will be another 3 hours with all the people that are coming. Also, this is the same day my best friend gets induced with her little boy, so ill have to run to the hospital that evening to see him!
Saturday Im seeing another best friend whos flying in from Texas with her family, who we all really miss.
Sunday is my daughters' big double birthday party and that evening my husband & I are going out with our friends who flew in from Texas for a nice evening double date (like old times)
WHEW, how am I ever going to stay on plan this week? Eating out TWICE, and it'll be TOM. Wonderful, but Im determined. Now that Ive told you all my whole life in a ramble, Ill check back later, LOL
Just got my walking[20M] done before the rains come in,and after I get back from playing canasta I going to get my biking done for additional 20 M.
Starting to the calorie shifting now that I'm back to exercising. I can go up to 1600 and worry as I can burn the calories with activity bringing me down to the 1400 count, but it depends on how much of it I do during the day.
IARAD-Thanks, I started to hold my tummy in while I was walking this morning, and I noticed that my back & hip didn't go out on me,so maybe that the key to keep the abs flat at all times even sitting.
AMY-Glad to see you here again.Welcome back. That will do it if sickness hits the family. I was out of commission also for 8 weeks with a sciatic nerve that I had no what of exercising except for hand weights. I find that keeping a food and exercising journal is an excellent way to keep track.I'm learned that from the calorie king calorie counting book.
VEGAS-Thanks for the congrats. Oh my you certainly have a busy schedule this week,so if I don't see you posting in a while I know where you are. Have a wonderful time planning and enjoying the several birthday parties coming up.BIG CONGRATS ON YOUR 4 LBS AWAY FROM GOAL YOUR DOING FANTASTIC I sure with your planning you will get there in no time.
Hi everyone. Just popping in to say I'm busy, busy, busy with wedding planning. We just finished the wedding shower on Sunday afternoon and had a great time and enough food to feed a small country. I'm trying really hard to stay on plan with food but my exercise is hit and miss. Too much going on. Must get back to normal but that won't happen until after July 12.
Beach - So happy you're exercising & calorie zig-zagging! Yay, those last pounds will be off before you know it! Thanks for the confidance boost too!
Retire - Glad things are going well, and Im sure after your busy events dies down, you'll get right back on track. You only have 9lbs, so you're really almost there!
I W-I at 160.8lbs this morning. Dont ask me why the heck I even bothered W-I, perhaps to upset myself. TOM will be here any moment, and as if the bloat wasnt enough, this migraine (also around yesterday) and feeling like my back got ran over by a semi truck is no picnic either. Despite all this, I worked out today!
Im not W-I until after TOM is over, and since its not here yet, Ill say at least 8 days from now is when Ill step on the scale again. In the meantime Im going to control my eating, exercise when I can, and wait
