  • Sorry no personal responses with names... I am CRAZY BUSY getting ready to leave! I did read your posts though!

I am heading out Sunday late afternoon from Marin county CA, and stopping just on the other side of Reno so I can spend Monday on the loneliest highway (50). Stopping in Utah near Canyonlands Natl. Park where I might visit for an hour or two and then on to the mountains. I will probably stop on the one side of Denver or the other. Then haul booty on to Nashville over the next 2 days with a possible coffee visit with a friend in Missouri depending on timing. I *can* do the whole drive in 2 and a half days but I want to take my time. I have some pretty heavy personal garbage in the areas of work and the future of my art 'career' to sort out so I need some time for reflection.

I am absolutely incapable of relaxing at ALL unless I am out on a long drive by myself because otherwise I have too much spinning around my head to think. I take these little solo vacations once or twice a year for my sanity. My DH isn't really crazy about it, but he completely understands I need my space and sometimes I need to do things on my own. If/when we have kids I realize this is going to be much harder to do and it won't happen as often but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Ok off to dye my hair blue and purple... ttfn.
  • Good Morning Ladies

Going to take it easy today as the weather is treading again.Going to ride my bike later on today. Up a little after having a wonderful afternoon with my friends playing canasta, didn't indulge there, just a a can of diet soda, but when I got home something that I ate started the triggering effect, and that began munching all night.Oh well today another day, just have to do some spinning with my bike.

I'm happy that I found a new way of counting calories, via the Calorie King counting calories booklet that helps me know the real count other than the WW point system.

RETIRE-I just can imagine you being busy busy busy, with your DS wedding. Maybe you can take a breather here and there[time for yourself]to relax[by taking a short walk] and not get stress out with the up coming wedding. What ever take care, your ds & his fiancee must be very proud of having have mom doing all that work.

VEGAS-Its so HARD to get out of the 160's. I'm up to 168 this morning and now I have 8 lbs to get off before thinking on getting the last 10 off.,and than I have to concentration on the next 10,as I have a total of 28 lbs to lose before my lifetime is over.

Sorry about TOM messing up the scale for you,You're so right wait til his gone and than W-I why get up set when there nothing you can do.

PRINNY-Oh my goodness!!! You're driving cross country all by yourself.I would never attempt to do that, you certainly have lots of courage, and not afraid of the big bad world out there.HAVE A SAFE TRIP and hope you have time to post to us to let us know your ok.

Have a great morning, will check in your gals some time this afternoon
  • Prinny, have a safe trip. Just a suggestion, instead of sleeping at rest stops you should stay in Wal Mart parking lots. Most of them allow overnight stays and there's some security. Oh yeah, tried the No Pudge Fudge, that stuff is fabu, although I will have to limit how often I make it as it's very hard to stop eating it!

Vegas, you're doing great and hang in there. I'm nowhere near goal but I seem to be stuck at this weight the last few weeks I lose .5 lb and then it's back the next day, it's making me crazy! But, it's just a small plateau I'm sure and you'll get those last few lbs gone soon I'm sure.

Beach, I know what you mean. I started on WW and am now counting calories. I actually get more food with WW but except for my current (hopefully short) plateau I much prefer counting calories. It just seems more accurate to me.

To any I missed, I'll try to catch up later. Have a good day all!
  • I had a bad day yesterday. I ate a gigantic piece of cheese cake and then dipped many cookies in thick cream and ate them all...sigh... I have an uncontrollable urge to eat everything in sight. The cheesecake is all gone so that won't be eaten again. It's the wedding/mom stress. Mom can be difficult and when I'm doing things for the wedding it nearly drives me crazy some days. Ah, well less than 5 weeks and DS will be married and mom will be with my sister for 3 weeks. I'll have time to relax with my friends who will be here a few days following the wedding and then we'll go see our darling little grandson. Yes, yesterday was definitely comfort eating. So far today I'm doing well. Thanks for all your encouragement.

Prinny, I bow to your driving expertise. I, too, would never take on the task of driving all that way. Could be my age now.

Beach I should follow your example and get on my bike later on.

Hope everyone is having a good day. Take care and catch you later.
  • Hi I needed a new avatar so I decided to use my photo taken last year in our back yard. I thought it was time that you guys knew who you were posting to.

See I have lots of weight to lose, hope this part of the year I will succeed.
  • Hi Beach. Love your avatar. I think I'll post a photo of myself when I have one taken at DS's wedding. I don't have anything suitable or clear enough to post right now. It's really nice to put a face to the name.

I've stayed away from junk so far today. Crossing my fingers for the remainder of the day.
  • Prinny Have a great time in your journey, and please be careful. Let us know how you’re doing when you can.

beachbum/Maryann Hi! I wish I had a bike to ride; maybe at 49 I could remember how to ride a two-wheeler! I have a nice neighborhood to ride in; need to check that out!

bmelwolfe Trying to include all who post each day! Hope you are doing well. Keep on moving!

retiredone I am sure you’ll get back on track… keep going!

me... well, I just started my journey this past Monday... so far, so good. Except I've done no exercise... I am thinking a bike might be nice. It's so danged hot here in Augusta, GA so walking really is not an option. Plus, I cannot, nor will not, walk in the morning, as I am NOT a morning person, LOL. Not to say I am a mean person in the morning, it's just that I like to sleep in the mornings! Taking 30 minutes away from me in the mornings before i get up for work is not an option, PERIOD! Walking inside the house, BLAH! Treadmill.... waste of money!! Sitting/laying/whatever in front of the TV and SWEATING, no freaking way! Yep, gotta look at getting a bike and using that for my exercise! What do y'all think??
  • Good Morning Ladies

Looks like we have another nasty day for walking I will proceed to ride my bike with some spinning like I did yesterday afternoon. I had the opportunity to get my weights & rod out to work on my standing up back exercises and upper body workouts while watching TV.

Have lots of errands to get done this morning before watch the golf tournament this afternoon,so I going to make this brief.

MELWOFE-I found WW point system useful, but they I remembered that they round out the point to=50c. The counting calories book tells me difference, and I too believe the CC is more accurate.

RETIRE-Thanks for the kind words,I was lucky I could get the photo on the avatar as I'm not computer savvy.

I have no idea how much stress your having, but I can only imagine.Worrying about the wedding and hoeing everything would go fine. I would eat a large pc of cheese cake also. After the 5 weeks is over you can sit relax and laugh at everything, but your son will remember what a wonderful mom he has, doing all this for him & his bride.

I ride my bike while watching a DVD on the computer, first ride in moderation and than I speed up to a spinning mode.and than down to moderate speed again for 30 min workout.Than last night while watching tv I did upper body & back exercises.

LADYVIV-Hope I didn't mislead you as I was talking about my stationary bike. I can't ride a reg bike I would need training wheels in order to do so. There many exercisers that your can do,other than the classic. Dancing around the house[like Prinny suggested] or gardening, upper body & lower body weights.Than there the bicycle, walking video tapes like WATP's all good.

Have to go, will post later
  • Oh I have driven cross country like 10 times already. Seriously I do it at least once or twice a year for the last 5 years since I moved to CA from TN. It's really not a big deal anymore to me.

Sleeping in rest stops is perfectly safe. Cops drive through like every hour and there are always lots of semis parked around. I guess I just have traveled enough my whole life to not be scared of traveling alone... that and the fact I can take down a mugger (and HAVE) helps.
  • Good Morning Ladies

Raining again, and this time its poring. We had a appointment with the bank to go over our portfolio, but we canceled why go out in the pouring rain.

Very disappointed in this weather as I wanted to go out & buy some tomato plants and put them in our whiskey barrels, but the tomatoes need sun and hot weather to start to grow.By the time July rolls around it too late as the plants will only grow green tomatoes at harvest time. That's the difference between living up on he Cape and living on Long Island NY. My DD are started to turn red. BAHHH I wanted home grown tomatoes, for my summer salads.

PRINNY-Safe driving and please be careful.

Have a great morning, not going out today as I don't want to swim around town.
  • This morning's weigh in got me to 200 total pounds lost I can't stop smiling

I did it with calorie counting and exercise and of course the support on my blog, I posted some pics up if anyone is interested linky is in my sig, I just felt like shouting from the roof top a bit and thought I would hit this thread up, hope everyone is having a good day and a better weekend!

    As Ever

  • Botzz VERY IMPRESSIVE!!! GRATZ!!!

I have been VERY bad about working out this week. Not a good ting since I can't workout for 4 days while I drive. *sigh* I am going to try and workout today and tomorrow so I am nice and sore for the drive and can use that as rest time.

Not going to have a scale with me on the trip, so if I hit my next mini goal while there as I want to I won't know till I get home. meh.
  • Good Morning Ladies

The Sunis shinning!!!Going to get out and get my power walking done instead of the old bike that I had to rely on for the last several days.

Nothing new here, did a lot of reading on Calorie shifting and why it works just like the old Wendie plan on WW. Right now I'm at at 1300 calories and if I exercise as the way I was doing my net calorie intake would bring me down to 1058 cal per day. That's not good that where I was on the WW flex plan that when the problems came it. According to what my doctor suggested I was eating too low and I had to go from a cal range of 1300 -1500,so either I have to slow down my exercising or I have to go up a higher 1500 calorie mark. [1500c-180[30m] burned cal=1320 net calories] or lower my exercise[1300c-120[20m]=1180 new calories.Going to work on this over the weekend as see what I will do for next week.

BOTZZ-Congrats on your weight loss. I really believe in calorie counting and that fact it does dork. I just have to find a balance that works for me. Like I posted above.

PRINNY-Boy is that the truth,How can you exercise when your driving??its simply impossible. If you want to see the scale go down to your next mini goal you'll have to eat less,if exercising in not in play.Enjoy your trip and the family & friends your visiting and forget the diet until you go back home. You know what to eat & how the portion control works..
  • Botzz! Congratulations ! You are such an inspiration !
  • Got another penguin in my sig! 146.5 this morning.

I leave on my trip tomorrow afternoon. I worked out last night, am a little sore today but want to workout again tonight so I am REALLY sore for the drive. Then the drive can be rest days rather than just slacker days. heh.
