Welcome, Carcar!
Rain Dancer- that sounds soooo yummy. Today is the third day in a row that I have woken up and got on the treadmill. Go me! Even if I don't loose any pounds this week, I will in fact hit a mini goal of working out 6 days out of 7. I have got to eat right the rest of the week. Yesterday we had a party at work and there went the calorie intake. I eneded up eating 3 hoagie halfs and a piece of birthday cake. The sale didtn move either way today but thats probably because I was on calories Monday and hit the treadmill mon and tuesday. I am getting promoted today at work to assistant office manager of our corporate office and my FI offered to take me out to dinner. I had to decline. Maybe Sunday night I will do it if I stay on point for the rest of the week. Drinking lotts of water today! Hope everyone has a great day! I will check back later! OH! I have a question, how many post do I have to post before they let me put a ticker on my siggy??? |
Retiredone I grew up with a wood stove for heat. They can be tricky but my Dad was really good with it and our house well insulated so rarely did it get to cold, sometimes to hot but it was nice because you could run around in shorts. Many a happy memory of going to to play or haul wood and then come in and stand in front of the wood stove but nothing I would want to continue to do as an adult. DH wants an everything type burner but he is never around to feed it, only me.
Welcome Annie! Look forward to getting to know you. |
Shannon, you should have almost enough posts now. Keep checking the User CP under edit signature. If that's there you can add your ticker.
GrammyL, our's is a wood furnace so the blower is well regulated but my DH likes to fill the fire box up to the very top and then try and get in a few more pieces of wood for good measure. We literally roast when he puts in the fire. If I'm home all day by myself I never have it that hot. Have a good on plan day everyone. I'm up, exercised, showered, dined and have half the dishes done! :D |
Welcome Bev.
Rain ~ Everyone has their own tolerance on liquids just like on calories. I do go to the bathroom a LOT! When we get to a store the first thing I say is I have to go to the bathroom and DH's response is always "That doesn't surprise me" LOL! I do it because the program I am following requires a 100 oz a day and its a good way to keep my kidneys and bladder flushed. I used to get UTI's all the time and then the kidney stones I only had once. I have been drinking this water for at least 4 years and I haven't had a UTI since. It also helps take away the urge to drink any calories because I am always floating in liquid. Welcome Mermaid! Rain ~ Great loss! Retiredone ~ As long as I eat on my program I am always fine but that is a low fat diet so when I eat something to greasy, what out and my tummy hurts so bad. I used to have heart burn all the time, now I rarely get it and even then its when I break my diet. Welcome Carcar! Tinky ~ Keep up the good work girl. That treadmill won't know what hit it. Shannon ~ Wow, you are putting the miles on also. It all should balance out on the calories since you are working out more and if you watch what you eat the rest of the week. Well I have to go fix a grant and I will talk to you all tomorrow. Shannon you are not weird at all. Me, I rarely eat bread at all. When I order a burger, usually turkey, I tell them put the veggies on it and leave the bun and sauces off. They always look at me oddly but that is how I eat it. Bread and I have a love affair. I love to eat it and it loves to stick on my belly. LOL! Tinky ~ Hope your enjoying that treadmill. We named them Smokey and the Bandit. LOL! Mine of course is Smokey and DD's is Bandit because he is a busy stinker. Finally this weekend hers figured out how to get up to the water bottle. Now he goes up and down all the tubes. I was starting to worry but every time I put him up there he was to worried about how to get down that he didn't even drink. Finally thrust and the smell of water trained him. |
Welcome to the newbies,
I know what everyone means about the wood stoves. I grew up with wood heat, and we now have a wood stove to help with the cost of heating, but man sometimes it does get quite hot in here. But, to be honest there is nothing warmer than wood heat on a really cold, and blustery winter day. GrammyL, I know just what you mean about eating greasy food, and not staying on plan. My tummy hurts so much, and I get bad heart burn, with acid reflux in the middle of the night. I never had heart burn or acid reflux until I was about 40, and that is when I became excessively over weight. Wilma |
Hey there my lovely ladies!! Another wet and rainy day here in Seattle! All the news ever report are accidents, floods, and winds. (sigh) I feel so much better now that I am at home. I had a real early dinner. I think I ate about 4:45. LOL! I am looking to walk and jog tonight. I overdid it with running.
Dishes- LOL I didn't even do them today. DH made me so mad this morning, and now he's feeling bad about it, so I am going to let him do them. If only he would clean the bathroom when we get in a tiff. LOL! Zenor- Hey woman!!! Good of you to check on us! You know I made some green chile, cheddar corn bread the other day. Man I wished I had the "real" stuff! Grammy- Cute names for the lil ones!! I am glad Bandit is getting used to the idea of getting some water. I wish Jade (my pug) would drink water from the communal bowls at the dog meetups. She's so darn prissy and picky. I love the treadmill, it's a wonderful machine. I am not exactly on the 6WBMO yet, but am eating a lot healthier than I have been. It's paying off, I've lost some weight already! I am drinking about 100oz of water each day too, and not eating too much salt! Shannon- Congrats on getting promoted!!!! :carrot: Slim- My tummy does the same too when I eat too much greasy foods. I feel your pain! wood stoves- I haven't had one since we lived in NM, my bro and I used to cook on them for fun. Or my dad used to put a pot of water on it and keep our living room warm and humid, since NM is very DRY! Ok gals, of to exercise Talk to you later! |
Man I am super tired these days with the new job, but I wanted to check back in. I like the new job and it seems to be going well. I'm just not quite used to having to wake up so early. My body will adjust eventually.
One thing that sucks though, is there is all kinds of junk at work. The kicker, I'm in charge of purchasing it (with work funds of course...) So, I'm on a mission to health up everyone. Lol. We'll see how that goes. I'm finally back in maintenance mode, but it's still a struggle to stay where I am. Well, I should go. I go to bed at 9pm now, sigh... Although all this talk of wood stoves makes me want to curl up under my down comforter! |
Wilma ~ I had it really bad, heart burn and acid reflux but refused to go to the doc, just took DH's stuff. By the way I was 55 lbs heavier also and that way for a long time. Then I discovered the program I am currently on and between drinking all this water and not eating greasy food, eating several small meals, and lost weight, I no longer get it unless I break the program. I used to think it was spicy food that caused it but I can really heat some hot stuff now and it doesn't cause any problems except the next day. LOL!
Tinky probably better your girl is a prissy because dogs just like humans can share bugs. My neighbor just got a pug/pom mix. He is so cute. Pure white, long fur, short snout and blue eyes. My concern is he drags his back legs a lot instead of using them. I know dogs do odd things but that is really strange to me. Zenor you go on making them healthier snacks. They may not thank you at first but in the end they will. Do it gradually and they might not even notice. Good job on being back at maintenance. I know I will struggle the rest of my life, no getting out of it. Its either follow what I am doing now or it will come right back. Well TOM is all messed up. 2 months of spotting none stop, during that time two TOMs that were heavy and then last week I should have had one but nothing. Now, stopped spotting, feel like my abs are puffy. So either I am getting ready to have a TOM or maybe, just maybe, its finally over. Have to get going for now and I will talk to you all later. Have a wonderful day! |
Hey everyone! Day 4 of the treadmill! Good thing because I ate terrible all week....I mean all week! Getting on the treadmill has to be first and most important to me. Now if I can just figure out time to get some strenght training it, I would be that much better off! I weight in tomorrow, not sure if there will be a loss but if anything, I am learning how to maintain:)
|
Good Morning Everyone! Happy Thursday! Woohooo, the week is almost over again! I am pretty nicely sore today! Down another lb! I am excited. I will even more happier once I get back to the 150's! I remember being there. LOL
Grammy- True, I never thought about it that way about her getting some kind of virus from the communal bowl. You know she has never had fleas since we brought her home, until we went to Pug-O-Ween a couple of weeks ago, I got that sucker since he was going to town on her belly! I flea comb her around this time to make sure. Jade is a pretty strange dog to, I swear she is more human than dog! She's one possesive lil B! LOL! Won't let anyone hug on me or get too close. Wow, you're about to "Graduate" to the next level of womanhood? (well atleast that's what my mom's Dr. told her) Zenor- Good luck with getting everyone one the health kick. I did that here once. It was good, until everyone gave up! LOL Shannon- I think developing those healthy habits is always a great start, the loss will fall in between. I am sure you will see some kind of loss! Ok, back to work..I need to start ordering Christmas stuff for work along with activity stuff for my residents. Have a great day! |
Congrats Tinky! Another pound is great! I am in the 150s but I know what you mean because I can not wait to be in the 140s again. Its been years so that will be huge for me. I will even take 149.9 as my victory~! :)

Hey! so now that I can copy and paste my siggy in here is there anyway just to make it come up on its own? Add it anywhere?
|
Shannon go to "quick links" at the top and down to edit signature. I believe there are directions there on how to create your signature and then it will come up each time you post.

Staying on track today!
just curious- for those of you in the 1400-1600 range how do you break it up between your meals & snacks? I haven't quite figured what works for me yet and I either have too many calories left at night or not enough for a good dinner. Thanks! |
Planning ahead is the key. I plan my menu for the day incuding meals and snacks. Staying within my calorie allotment.
|
I can't plan ahead. I am a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants sort of girl and I just can't make it work. I have a pretty good idea of the calories in different foods and combinations. And since I am on a tight budget, I don't have a huge food inventory from which to pull. I am eating a lot of the same stuff day in and day out, so I am able to keep things pretty evenly distributed throughout the day. Some days I end up light a couple or three hundred calories. But not too often. :D
Yeah... Like that was a lot of help... :o So, on track, today. Had a good one yesterday, too. I am still unable to exercise. But I have upped my water intake a bit. I want to see if it makes a difference for me. If nothing else, I should burn calories high-tailing it to the loo all the time. Another pound! WTG, Tinky!! :woohoo: |
I usually try to plan for the next day the night before, but I don't always make it, so then I plan threw lunch, and wing the rest of the day, that is when I work the early shift 5am - 1pm. When I work the late shift 9:30 am - 5:30 pm I plan my day out in the morning, and when I work a double shift well lets just say it takes some creative planning but I usually make it. I usually eat several small low cal meals aday. Like rain I don't have alot of money in my food budget so I usually have alot of the same stuff over and over, but I like what I'm eating so that is not a problem, and I usually buy myself one treat to last me 2 weeks until payday, that I divy out slowly, and stay within my calorie range. This week I bought Emerald Cocoa Roast Almonds alittle pricey, but very healthy, and will be like having a treat every once in a while.

Raindancer,
You might be interested in seeing this success story. This lady lost 300 pounds b y calorie counting. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540...17028#27517028 |
Thank you, thank you for the encouragement!! It does help me. I will put in my totals on Monday. At this point I am taking whatever loss I can.
Shannon- Yeah I was 152 before I left for CA in September, I came back from vacation and let it all slide from there. Then I was plagued with a bad bad cold. So now I am undoing all the gain. I am about where you started at 171. It's pretty scary how much you can gain in 2 -3 months time if you don't really watch yourself! I plan on not spending my birthday being chubby. LOL You have to copy and paste the link from your weight tracker (where you made it) and then put it on the edit signature area, like Grammy said. Carcar- If you are basing this off a 1600 calorie diet, I would break down the 3 main meals into 300-400 calorie range each, then the two snacks into 100-200 each. Providing you are eating 5 meals a day. I always make breakfast the bigger meal because I use up more energy to kick start my day. So if I go over the 400 mark, I adjust accordingly. I hope I didn't confuse you, but this is what I did when I first started. Now I kinda go with the flow like Rain. Rain- LOL I am running to loo all the time too. I've even sparked talk from my friends about being preggers, but then they realize I am back on track and constantly drinking water. LOL Slim- We both work early! Yeah I know what you mean with trying to be creative, I need to get back into the routine of preparing things in advance and cooking in batches. That used to really help me. Ok gals, goin to get ready to work out. Not sure what I am going to do, since I am sore. |
Quote:
Thank you for sharing the link, Canadianwoman. What an incredible, inspiring story! |
You all crack me up running to the loo. I have done it for so many years I don't even really notice anymore. It gives me a break from the computer and no one follows me their. LOL!
I used to break mine up like what Tinky suggested. Worked out best that way for me. That is also where the lower calorie SmartOnes or some other frozen meal came into play for lunch and dinner. I knew I could keep myself under control that way. I figured out what my problem has been, my eyes are as big as my tummy. LOL! I stopped measuring for a while and because I decided to measure some things out yesterday I realized my portions were getting out of control again. What I thought was 2 oz was 4 and what I thought was a 1/2 c was a cup. So that means some of my meals I was eating twice as much as I should be eating. Lets see, two meals in one. HMMM! Why wasn't I losing again? Thank goodness I figured that out. Well I better get going for now, tad bit on the tired side so I am glad it is Friday. Talk to you all Monday and have a great weekend. |
grammy- I have been doing the same thing. Isnt is amazing how fast we adjust to eating more of this and that. I am back at measuring as well and also trying to exercise daily. I so want to be in a size 16 dress for my daughter wedding in 16 weeks. I will have to really exericse to make it. I was in a 26 for my sons wedding in dec last year and would love love to be in a 16...
holidays are coming fast and im really going to just not cook much during them. Hubbys sugar has been running higher again and i am going to keep sweets out of the house..sweets are not my problem food is....I love food!! hugs to all |
I know Nov. is almost over, but thought if I would join in instead of just reading it would help me get started again.
I also have a question. I tried the Calorie King dree trial and liked it, what other options are out there? What do some of you use? |
Hi Southerngrl. Jump right in. I use fitday.com for my calories and exercise. I like it and have entered most of my own custom foods.
I'm feeling drained today. Don't have energy and don't want to exercise. Just sitting here like a lump on the couch. DH was up early and painted a few patches in the living room, did laundry and I think swept the floor. He even hung the towels up on the clothes line. I was in bed until after 10:30 this morning. I was up late working on the songs and carols for our church Christmas program and didn't realize it was so late until I looked up at the clock and it was heading for 3 am! Now, I'm paying for my indiscretions of late night riotous living. Hope everyone is having a better weekend with a little more energy than I have. We'll see what the afternoon brings. Must go drink water. |
Hey everyone! Super busy today but had to say hello to my friends! Have a wonderful day!
|
Hi everyone. :D
Retire, you partay animal, what are we going to do with you? ;):D Another three pounds down. Could have been better, if I had behaved better... :o But, I'll take it. Gah. I have a bunch of stuff to get done, so I guess I best get to it. Have a great day. Later, gators. :D |
I'm back from choir practice and my late night efforts have paid off with a good practice tonight. But I don't want to put in another night like that. I wouldn't stay up that late if I'd been at a party. Ha, ha.
Rain Dancer, you are really melting off the pounds. I wouldn't be surprised if you made 50 pounds by New Years. We had windy, rainy and warm weather yesterday and last night. It was still windy today but tonight it's gotten quite cold. I wore my winter jacket to the church tonight and the air was acrid with wood smoke as I walked back home. I only live 100 meters from the church so it wasn't much of a walk. My winter jacket is one I bought about 3 years ago thinking I'd lose enough weight to fit into it but I gained back then. It really came in handy this year as my last year's jacket is too big. Now that I've got the choir stuff straightened up I got to get the last two weeks of food demos done and I'll be done most things until the Christmas rush is on. I don't have many gifts bought yet but I'm not buying huge amounts. Just a few family gifts and some of those will be money in a card. My MIL is so hard to buy for that we just give her money with a small gift for under the tree. I usually get her towels or a new white tablecloth. Those I know are safe to get. She enjoys getting the cash and buys herself something in the after Christmas sales. I'll make a few cakes and cookies for my sister (who does not bake) and a few cakes and cookies for myself. But I'm not going overboard with the sweets. If they aren't around I won't eat them. It's easy enough to bake up a batch of cookies if company is coming and there's nothing like a big bowl of fruit to munch on. My I've rambled on here. I don't get enough adult company. DH is not a talker. He's more than likely to fall asleep than talk. Ha, ha. Have a good evening. |
Rain Dancer- That is WONDERFUL!!!!
|
Just popping in to say HI!
Really busy here at work and can't see where it will let up until after the holidays. Talk to you all later. |
Hello ladies, sorry to join the thread then suddenly be MIA  Anyway thought I would jump back on. yesterday was a very good day. I ate like an angel totally op and took my new running shoes to the treadmill doing a fabulous incline cardio workout. Came in with a deficit of 1236 which is awesome after the terrible weekend I had.
Today is looking pretty good so far. Office coffee with ff half and half and sweet and alow, light yogurt for brekkie. Going home at lunch for a WW Bread 2% Swiss and FF Turkey Sand topped with a little Miracle Whip light. Ok everyone tired of hearing about my food? Welcome to my life... |
Good morning calorie counters. Last night I felt hungry just before I went to bed. I think it was more from habit than actual hunger. I am proud to report I resisted the chips out in my mother's room and had one real fruit chew at 20 calories.
Stephanie, we might become tired of hearing about your food but probably not before you become tired hearing about our food. :D It seems my life revolves around food at times. DS is away on a four week training session and I'm always quizzing him on what he ate and how much and so on. And it's not always because I'm worried that he won't eat well or enough. It's often because I'm interested in what different foods he may have tried. I suppose all my American friends are looking forward to Thanksgiving next week. Canadian Thanksgiving is the first Monday in October so that celebration is well behind me. I was wondering what the first American Thanksgiving menu was and I found several very interesting sites on the internet including the original proclamation by President George Washington. http://www.earlyamerica.com/earlyame.../original.html You'll note with interest that the "ses" are spelled with an "f". Hi girls
I've been gone for a while. Had a bad Spring. I lost a lot of weight and got down to 165, but that was only because I wasn't eating due to stress so as soon as I started eating again I gained it all back and then some. So here I am hoping to get back on track. |
Retiredone I did know a lot of it. Another is there wasn't any sugar or flour at that time so the pies are really out. LOL! I have also read that venison was also part of the meal and possibly some other wild game. Definitely wasn't green bean casserole, pumpkin and apple pie, sweet potatoes with little marsh mellows/brown sugar, mashed potatoes, turkey and stuffing. We have definitely changed. I am having turkey breast, baked sweet potato and a veggie but not green bean casserole. For dessert I am going to make a sweetened egg white crepe and fill it with an apple that is sliced up with a little caramel flavoring, cinnamon and I cook it in the microwave until soft. YUMMY. That meal keeps me on plan so I don't gain or feel all icky when the meal is over.
Welcome back Lisa. Must be we missed each other. I was here last January/February I believe and then fell off and just came back a few months ago. You can get it off again but hopefully in a healthy way. I used to just not eat to lose and then when I ate again I ballooned so I know how you feel. Welcome back Stephanie. Sometimes life just gets in the way. Christmas shopping. HMMMM! My list just keeps getting shorter and shorter. DD needed tires on her car, that was her Christmas present. We are not exchanging gifts at my parents this year but I will buy something for my parents. That leaves DH, YDD and my GS's. Its fun buying for the little guys and they both have three presents already. OGS I have to stop taking him to the store. LOL! With all the kids presents well stocked and in new locations in stores GS wants everything. He always ends up walking out with something. The last one was funny because he wanted this car from the movie "Cars" and DH had told him if he was good he could get a car. So he picked the one he wanted out and then said "Mimi you want this one and gave it to me". DH and I couldn't help but laugh our tails off and so in reality he got two cars. Now the twist. I let him take them home and DD said that he gives the car that was mine to YGS and he plays with his so they can play cars together. So really, he just wanted to have a car so someone else can play with him. Way to cute. |
Just popping in, I'm down 2 pounds which surprised me. I can now squeeze into a size 12. Shopping is hard, in part because I am broke, in part I think because I haven't adjusted my mind to my new body shape and don't know what looks good on me anymore. Still, there could be worse things to worry about.
|
Cdiem, I find the thrift and goodwill stores wonderful for good used clothes. I don't want to spend a lot on clothes in this particular size because I know in a few months they won't fit so I find things much cheaper there. No need to tell anyone where you purchased your clothes.
|
Yeah, I need to go there. I'm not embarrassed to buy from good will, it's just kind of icky in there and smells funny so I'm not crazy about the place. But it is ridiculous to buy full price for clothes that will not fit soon. I cruised sale racks yesterday and they weren't really on sale. How is stuff that is marked 90% off possibly still going for $10? It was ridiculous!
|
retiredone - lol about quizzing your husband. Welcome to my life... he has hereditary high cholesterol so I feel like I am always on that man :) VERY interesting info on Thanksgiving btw...
lisa - Welcome back. Back on track step one... posting here. Here is to a very productive weight loss filled winter! grammyl - Oooh you just reminded me about Christmas shopping lol. I just had a round of birthdays to shop for and forgot all about xmas lol. Sounds like your on the ball... want to do some for me too? jk cdeim - woohooo on the 2 lbs loss. Yep thats a GOOD problem to have then when you DO get money you can have a blast finding new skinny clothes. As for me... I am doing very well. Lost track on my calories for the past two days. I know from counting for so long though that I came in just fine whereas the numbers are concerned. I have been trying out some new non fat recipes for the DH to help him get his cholesterol back on track. Hmmm nothing stellar to report as far as actualy recipes but let me tell you Non Fat Dreyers Double Churn Strawberry doesn't taste ANY DIFFERENT than regular. It was very yummy and came in at about half the calories per serving. Well worth trying.... |
counting calories has been good all week long. My scales still appear to be stuck. I think i have hit a platue. Its ok though..i will try to increase execise next week and get them moving again.
Going thru alot of emontions this week as my middle child bought a house an hour away and is moving out her stuff. Now she hasnt been home for more than a few nights at a time since starting college. She graduates in dec and will be getting married in late feb. Its time for her to move on to the next stage of life...but its just hard on us moms at times. Packing up her stuff is hard physically as well as mentally!! I am excited for her but its just hard!! It will be nice to be able to walk around my dinning room table again though. I was begginning to think her bedroom was a storage unit and wont hold much more stuff anyways. She has bought lots of furniture over the years and it will be so nice for her to have nice stuff until she starts having her showers and getting the stuff she has registered for. well hugs to all. |
Stephanie if you are paying, I am buying. LOL! I used to always be ahead of the game but the last 5 or 6 years I have been waiting till the week of and I don't like it at all.
dgramie in a few years I will probably be going through the same thing. ODD already out on her own with her kids and YDD is 18 but has this year and one more year of high school. Long story how it happened and its not her fault, its how one of the school systems works here in this area. Even YDD is gone more than home so I am gradually getting used to it. When she is not home that means I am trapped because she has my vehicle. DH is trying to get a small loan today to get an inexpensive car for her but I have the feeling with the belts being so tight at loan institutions it is doubtful. Hang in there, time will make it easier and now you can go visit her. Stalls are so hard to handle and frustrating to get moving again. I have been on one for a while, then last week I gained 2 and now I have lost 3, almost 4 so all is good. For some reason this how my body breaks stalls and I am over the hump. cdiem I hear you on the funny smell at Goodwill. Ours always smells funky and feels icky. I usually go their about once or twice a year so DH can look for rig cloths because we know he is going to destroy his cloths with the oil. Sometimes I just have to put the smell and environment aside. Good job on the loss! Well we had lots of ick floating around here yesterday and was offered some stuff that was just overwhelming to turn down but I stayed strong. I didn't eat one single thing. It was hard, very hard at first but I managed to talk myself into being strong and resisting. Was a small reward on the scale this morning and now I know if I would have eaten it I would have either stayed the same or gained. I will take the small reward. I have a number in my head that I want to see on Monday that kept me from cheating. I doubt I will actually see that number but I am going to do what ever I can to get there. I can't help what my body decides to do. Well I better get going and I will talk to you all later. |
Hi Everyone it has been a good OP week calorie wise, and it paid off when I stepped on my scales for this weeks weigh in. I lost 2#'s, and it made me feel great.
I tried on some size 14 jeans that my sister gave me, and they fit. I couldn't believe it, so I tried on another pair of size 14's that I bought about a year ago, and they were to small by far when I bought them, and they also fit me now. Yaa Hoooo!!!! I know that if I would get going on my exercises it would be even better, but I am having a hard time with motivation to do exercises for some reason, but I will persever (sp.). My muffin top over my jeans is also smaller so I know if I would just exercise more, it would go down even more. Have a good week-end everyone. Wilma |
